Ella Summers

Ella Summers has been writing stories for as long as she could read; she's been coming up with tall tales even longer than that. One of her early year masterpieces was a story about a pigtailed princess and her dragon sidekick. Nowadays, she still writes fantasy. She likes books with layered plots, lots of action and adventure, and a touch of romance. When she is not busy writing or spending time with her two young children, she makes the world safe by fighting robots.

Originally from the U.S., Ella currently resides in Switzerland. She is the author of Sorcery and Science, a fantasy adventure series set in a world splintered by magic and technology.

Maybe I just wasn't in the right mood for this one. I found the plot weak and the writing rather clunky. It seemed like the author was trying to develop the main characters' relationship, but the execution was heavy-handed and led to one-dimensional characterization.

More like 3.5.
I have enjoyed this world that Ella Summers made but I am not a huge fan of having to read books from other series in order to understand what is happening in another series. I wish that she just had all three of the Dragon Born series together as one series instead of putting it into 3 (or depending on how you look at it, 4) different series. This particular installment wasn't as engaging for me as other ones have been and I didn't real see any big character development. With that being said, the ending did leave me wanting to read the next one to find out what happened to one of the characters that was introduced for the first time towards the end.

After Makani and his warriors clear the second circle of demons, he helps Naomi sneak into hell’s Pyramid to rescue her father.

Footnote: 1) I’m not sure I can get used to how fast Riley went from being a talented human potion maker to an all-powerful shadow mage enforcer.

Fave scenes: Dal spiking Callum’s granola, Riley’s lemonade, Naomi banishing the warlord & his band and the back door into the Monolith.

Ella Summer's Spirit Magic is another great part of the Dragon Born series! Part 2 of Naomi's story is an exciting trip through the levels of hell. The storyline is fast-paced and unique, filled with twists and turns, danger, intrigue and deception. The characters are well developed and endearing. I can't wait to see what the rest of the series brings!

Good continuation of the series

It’s been a long time coming but Ella Summers has written a wonderfully good story. It is the second part of the story. It ends in a cliffhanger. But hopefully the next book will wrap things up and solve the open issues.

I had to force myself to finish this one. The last 20% was mostly skimmed. There's almost no development of any character as Naomi is hopping from action scene to action scene. The entire book can be summed up with:
1) some big problem happens
2) Solve it immediately
3) sex scene
4) Repeat 3 or 4 times.

The story would have been served far better if less events happened and those events actually took some effort to find an implement a solution.

Good as Always

I always love the Dragon Born series, and while Sera is my favorite, Naomi's story is interesting as well.
Always nice to see the twins and Kai as well.

Brilliant

This is another brilliant book to add to this vast collection. I've enjoyed Naomi's story and can't wait to see what happens next.

I love Ella Summer's work, I really do, but for some reason this one didn't hold me spell bound like her Legion of Angels or Sara books. Maybe I just am not invested in Naomi and her romance. They just don't seem to have the depth of some of the others. Or maybe they do, but the others speak to me more. There was nothing wrong with the novel itself, just my emotional connection.
