"I would compare this author's writing to Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series." ~Amazon Reader
Jenny Jamison is a small-town veterinarian who wants the simple things in life. After a particularly terrible blind date, she decides to give an online dating site a try, where she meets the perfect guy. There's just one problem: he lives a thousand miles away.
Owen Kaine's life is filled with people who are more interested in what he has than who he is. On a whim, he joins a dating site anonymously. When things go better than anticipated, he regrets using a fake profile because his perfect girl can't stand a liar. Can true love survive a comedy of errors? Or will Owen lose the girl he's come to love?
Sharon Sue Thorn is a Californian adventurist. Unable to stay in one place for long, she enjoys people watching from parks and coffee shop windows in whatever state she happens to be living in. Loved dearly by her children and family for her eccentricity and in spite of it, they don’t claim to understand her and have given up trying. Her reclusive nature gives her ample time to weave stories inspired by her travels for your reading pleasure.
Sweet and Clean Billionaire Romance This is a sweet and clean romance between a veterinarian and a billionaire. It is a fun story with down to earth characters. The plot is fairly straightforward and simple. The characters are all realistic and believable. I received this book for free and this is my honest review.
I liked it, but it's really more of a 2.5 rounded up to 3 than a solid 3 for me.
The plot itself is pretty generic and predictable. Not always a bad thing, but still something to note.
Jenny bothered me right from the first scene. She's too uncomfortable to confront her blind date and excuse herself, so she throws her drink in his face instead??? What rational person considers that an option if she isn't being actually threatened? And what was up with the weird lady at the next table staring at her? And she was pretty judgmental at the bridal shower - which, FYI, sounded more like a bachelorette party - bridal showers are where friends and family give you gifts (like dishes and kitchen tools) to set up your new home, while bachelorette parties are the ones with alcohol and strippers to send off single-hood. I guess, being a clean romance, that the author had to show that Jenny was 'above' such things. Just felt it was a bit heavy handed. At least she left without being outright rude to the bride. Jenny got a bit better, but with that rough start, it took me a long while to warm up to her.
Owen was alright. Yes, he was an idiot for using a real person for his online ID instead of creating something new, but at least he was a well-meaning idiot. And again with the heavy-handedness of the author, as all the characters made some sort of comment about how 'lying is bad.'
The forced drama with the accidental meeting with Jeff and Molly pushed my believability quite a bit. For starters, Houston is 11ish hours from Topeka. So Jeff and Molly drove 11 hours on a whim to "pop in" to support Owen? And Jeff's given Molly no reason to doubt him, but she's not even going to listen to any explanation? Everyone was just yelling and high drama, and no one listening to anyone else - even to Owen, the one saying "I can explain everything".
I wish in the epilogue we'd learned a little more about what Owen had eventually come around to as his way of finding himself.
Dual 3rd person POV. Clean romance with HEA. No cheating, no OW/OM drama. No over-the-top angst. No cliffhangers. Just a quick, sweet little romance. Free find on Kindle. Am I interested in more in the same series? No, I've got no interest in Sammie's story. So there you go, 2+ rounded up to 3.
Rating: G Sex: a couple of kisses Profanity: I don't remember any Violence: slap HEA: yes
Jenny is a vet in a small town. She wants to meet someone, but the guys she meets aren't up to snuff. Owen is a lonely billionaire who wants someone who isn't only interested in wealth. Both make accounts on an internet dating site--hers is real, his is his best friend's picture and name. Six months later....
This was a sweet romance. It has a light plot, light character development, and some unfinished tangents. It's good for a quick, light read.
More than just a wonderful romantic story, there is a message included. Lies can cause disasters, hurting more than one person. Owen lied in his profile on a dating website. He had a good reason, but it was still a lie that could have cost him more than it actually did. Jenny. She hates liars. Owen has a lot of work to do to make this right. This is a clean romance with likable characters. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
This was a fun and quick read. It is a story about two people who decide to use a dating app. Jenny never wants to go on another blind date. She has been burned too many times. She wants to date someone who is truthful and trustworthy. Owen wants someone who will like him for who he is rather than for his money. Jenny puts an honest profile on the app. Owen uses his best friend for the app profile. What happens when the truth is revealed?
A cute story of two people looking to meet someone to relate to using an online dating site. Lying to protect his identity and not seriously expecting to meet anyone he cares about sets a bit of drama in motion for the woman who hates people lying... how will they work this out? An enjoyable short read.
While interesting I found myself skimming through some parts due to an excess of words. Some phrasing was difficult to picture as when Jeff raised his hands like a teapot. A cute clean story with an HEA, but tighter writing and less description is my preference. A worthwhile read.
Fun and sweet. Oh what a mess we make of things whenever we hide the truth! Owen sure got things tangled up, but thankfully they were able to be sorted in this very enjoyable sweet romance!
An easy read. Happy ending. Predictable. Good characters. Jenny is aggravating at times. I love Sammie when she stays sober. Owen, Jeff, and Molly are great supporting characters. Enjoyable read.
Loved the characters in this delightful romance. The story so true to our day and yet the stresses and strains of dating are well defined and yet delightful. Highly recommend!
Jenny and Owen met online but, he didn't use his own name of photo. Now he wants to meet her and the lie is in the way. How will she react when she knows the truth?
Everything went as wrong as possible. And yet the author took us to a happy ending. An unbelievable story but hey, I read to get away to unbelievable people and places.
The Conflicted Billionaire is a cute and entertaining narrative. The plot was plausible and held my interest because the dialogue kept it moving. The descriptions were vivid and enhanced the readers' introductions to various characters. I liked it!
Having been on blind dates much like Jennys, in the beginning of the book, I could clearly see the reason for igning up for a dating site. As for Owen, I could also undeerstand his reluctance...it was a great book and I'm looking forward to reading the next installment in the Conflicted Love Series.
