Your not so fancy-pants guide to wine. The ultimate book for winos who don’t take themselves too seriously, but do seriously love their wine.
Everything Happens for a Riesling is the wine book that says boo to acting like a snob. It's your ultimate guide to hacking the world of vino. Grace De Morgan is here to help you get more of the wine experiences you want, minus the pretentiousness.
This is a toolkit, not a textbook – a cheat sheet for all the vino-related questions you didn’t realise you had. I mean, where do you store wine if you don’t have a cellar? Who (or what) is Gewurztraminer? Are decanters a thing?
Whether you can’t tell your rose from your Riesling or are busy studying to be a Master Sommelier, Everything Happens for a Riesling has got something to make you go 'Mmm, more please.'
Really enjoyed this book. It makes learning about wine, fun and pleasurable and even a little bit frivolous in a good way. Definitely aimed at the Millenial and younger gen (and about time) but as a 40 something, I still relished this fresh approach. I like how she starts at base level, even comparing wine varieties to people, but then also offering up more serious pointers for those keen to delve a little deeper. Great gift for the beginning wine lover.
As a wine lover...this was an huge disappointment. No insight of real weight... The book's target audience is young consumers. If you want to reach and sell wine to a GEN Z rising generation ...this is the book! Unfortunately...I am a baby boomer and prefer my wine info without references to George Clooney, Westworld or chapters titled "Netflix & Swill" or Insta-Stalk. I rest my case.
An accessible book for a Millennial/Gen Z audience, but the pop culture references, slang and efforts to be funny were a bit OTT for me. Includes many wine-related terms, varietals and regions explained quite simply, with quotes from experts and (non-expert) celebrities mixed in - not all of which necessarily added value. I appreciate having a wine book with an Aus/NZ focus though.
