Skin Walker Sentry, James, is known for his jokes and good humor, but when he comes face-to-face with his past, there isn’t anything funny about it. Prim is the woman who wrecked him all those years ago. She’s his enemy, and regardless of the passion they once shared, James is determined to put her where she belongs, in a cell.
PrimRose is done running from her past. The last time she saw James, his eyes had been filled with cold, merciless hatred. She’d been forced to betray him, and he’s never understood why. Now, seeing him again after all these years, any hope for a relationship is vanishing beneath his cruel disdain. Prim knows she’s to blame for the ice that surrounds his heart, yet she’s praying that the secret she’s kept all these years and the sacrifices she’s willing to make might just warm him to her. It was a risk coming to StoneCrow, but for a shot at happiness, Prim was willing to risk it. Now, she’s just praying she survives James’ wrath.
*This is book 18 in the Skin Walkers series. Since each book in this series focuses on a different couple, they can be read as stand-alones. Readers may prefer to read them in order for maximum enjoyment.

Hurt her! James’ mind roared, but his inner beasts rallied, No, she’s a female. Protect her! Head warring with his heart, James ignored them both as he snarled at Prim.
She was shaking her head in denial, and he couldn’t have stopped himself from tightening his grip on her throat if he’d wanted to.
Instantly, she stilled.
Beneath his hand, the delicate column of her throat convulsed as she tried to swallow. Quietly, he studied her. For long silent moments, he simply regarded her. She was insultingly beautiful. More beautiful than he even remembered her being. It only served to piss him off more.
“James, let her go. She…” King began.
James cut him off going nose to nose with Prim, “You’ll call me Sir,” he demanded on a snarl. “Do you understand?”
When she didn’t respond, he demanded more firmly, “Do. You. Understand?”
Swallowing hard again, Prim nodded as best she could.
“Say it,” he commanded.
She managed to wheeze out, “S-Sir.”
“You made a mistake coming here,” he growled. “You never should have come, because now, you belong to me. These Walkers don’t know you, Prim.” He leaned in, baring his teeth as he snarled, “But I know you. And I will have my vengeance.”
She inhaled sharply at the warning, and a grin wanted to wreck his face. He was garnering too much enjoyment from her fear to allow it.
Studying Prim, he watched her lips thin into a disapproving line. Her eyes brimming with tears a moment before they went hard. Internally, she was throwing up walls to guard her tenderly bruised pride. He just knew it. He knew her. But, she couldn’t hide from him. She wouldn’t break either. Not for him. He could see it in the defiant tilt of her chin, in the almost angry way she waited for further instruction. This close to her, actually touching her after all these years, was raising up all kinds of ghosts he long thought dead. That cavernous hole she’d ripped right in his middle—the one he’d filled up over the years with jokes and pranks, with the laughter of his friends—was suddenly vacant and gaping at him in a silent scream.
Destroyed. She’d destroyed him all those years ago, and now here she was.
My pack territory is in Central Montana, between Stone Crow Estates and the North Fortress. Born and raised in an untamed location that bridges the gap between rolling prairies and majestic mountain peaks, I am born to a family that also bridges the gap between cultures. My father’s people boast a fiercely proud Scandinavian ancestry while my mother’s tribes descend from two savagely beautiful and unique nations (White Clay and Nakoda) that inspire my Skin Walker series.
I'm a huge fan of MMA, boxing, 30 Seconds to Mars, DMX, Nahko and Medicine for the People, and 21 Pilots (“…sometimes quiet is violent”). I also love to read because it encourages me to write. (I hate it when authors add that they love coffee and chocolate. Really? Who doesn't love coffee and chocolate?) Anyway, I love beer...kidding. I don't love beer but we are engaged in a very serious relationship. (Mom, please don't call me when you read this.)
Please leave feedback….well, only if it’s positive. “Keep in mind that I’m an artist and I’m sensitive about my shit! (Erykah Badu lyrics!)

James is the one Walker who never seems to lose his smile, but like all the perpetually happy he is covering up a deep well of hurt. When you pick up this book, be prepared with a box of tissues because your emotions are going to get the best of you and you will cry. But the HEA is just that much sweeter for the emotional journey you have to go on to get there. This author continues to amaze me with her characters, her plots and the way she manages to draw me into the outcomes of each book. I anxiously await her next book and the story she will tell.
2.5 I find the big-misunderstanding trope and all the related unnecessary angst annoying. Other than that, I generally enjoy Bliler’s shifter-finds-mate stories.
I love this series. James is a bit of an A-hole for a while, but he went through a horrific trauma that scarred him emotionally. Thankfully he has a strong support group. Loved the story, loved the characters, particularly the 2 new characters to the series.
Good book but not great. A BIT OF A SPOILER ALERT... I have to like the characters in a book to give it 4 or more stars and I didn't really like james. (The H) Yes he went through hell but I can't get over him choking the h TWICE and all the hurtful, hateful things he said and called her. Mostly I gave this book only 3 stars because I was disappointed. I LOVED James from the previous books, and to see how he turned on his h was just heartbreaking. I felt like, out of guilt for his treatment to her He only went to FINALLY be with his h because he found out the truth, that being, she wasn't the villain he thought she was. I thought she'd put up at least a little fight because of how he'd treated her, but no. A whole book of him treating her like absolute shit, and right at the end he apologized and she forgave him. Just like that. Maybe you'll see it differently. I still recommend this book. It was, after all, entertaining.
Why is this series changing so much. We went from the first few books in this series where the heroes knew who their "angel" was from the very beginning and they were all possessive/protective of their ladies. Then we moved to the middle of the series where the heroes didn't find their "angel" until halfway through the book. Now we're at the part where in this story, James didn't realize Prim was his angel until the very final scene when they were having sex. Yet he spent the rest of the book fighting her because he assumed something about her that was not correct. Literally the final scene? Really?
Timeline issues bugged me enough to drop a star from rating. Because of that, the plot of Prim finding another Skin Walker testing facility seemed forced. And when nothing came of it, it was obvious, it was used for tension within the story. Also what bothered me was the fact that it was made out like a completely different day, when in fact it was only hours, in not just minutes between two chapters. Disappointing. Not bothered that there was not any exterior dramas outside of the complicated relationship between James and Prim. Loved seeing James get his fun spark back and his HEA. Writing was done well so think it is well worth your time and $$
I absolutely love this series. This book about James is no exception. I like that Prim tries to earn his forgiveness without telling him what she did for him and the other Walkers at The Facility. She doesn't take the easy way out and is willing to sacrifice her happiness for her son. James continues to punish her by pushing her away until Monroe shows him something from Prim's file that changes everything. Just like the others, such a great story. I read this series again every other year, the stories are that great.
He finally gets his story, we met him a few books ago, and we learn why he is such a joker, and uses jokes to cope. Prim comes to Munroe for help and while doing so, runs into James after being in a relationship years prior. This their story of laughter, tears and heartbreaking news. She doesn’t cuss and the words she uses instead made me laugh. This is a good read.
Each one seems to get better. James and Prim is a story that makes you sad, mad and so happy. It has it all. You want to kick Crows ass with the way he treats everyone and some of those sentrys need to be taught some manners. It is just a good love story that I really enjoyed reading and look forward to number 19.
I loved this book! Such a great series! James asnd Prim didn't have it easy, and a little communication could have helped. James is angry and stubborn, again talking would have helped. I can't wait for more in this series!!! With all the kids the walkers are having, maybe one day they will get a spin off series of their own!
Omg James has been hurting for so long and to hear his and Prim's story fugging perfect. Beautiful story and the fact that there was so much he didn't know and had to find out the hard way. Looking for love in all the wrong places.I will not gave spoiler read and enjoy it I did, its so good I'm going to read it again.😀😀😊😊♥♥♡♡
I've looked forward to James finding his angel. The story is too short and not in enough depth of James and PrimRose characters. we should have had little hints of James's story throughout the series. Been made aware that PrimRose was there, we didn't need a name but! Dont get me wrong i love the Skin Walker series, i just wanted more depth to James's story.
What a sad and tragic 💑 couple. After ten long years James and PrimRose found each other. So many questions and misunderstandings surround this couple. Meeting each other dire circumstances, James and PrimRose had to fight for their love. A very interesting and intriguing novel.
Awesome reading about a child shifting to protect his family! More than impressed with James and Prims story. This one included affliction linked to a child which was a really good take in the Walker concept. Flashbacks were brief and well done giving depth to the MCs. No epic battle scenes but was one feel good read.
I loved the twists and turns of this book. I couldn't put it down once I started reading. James and prim's complicated history added to the excitement. Do Hayden and Monroe's daughter get a story later on :D?
I enjoyed the story an the character interaction, like I knew I would, would have really enjoyed some updates on past couples included maybe just a side stories to the man, this was a short read less than 2 hours but very enjoyable.
Aw damn that was awesome. Every time I read the latest Skinwalker story it makes me want to start from the beginning all over again. You are simply fantastic Susan Bliler. Can’t wait for the next one.
Wow, just wow You fall in lived with all of the characters, feel their ups and downs and want to cheer for them when it goes right. This is one of susa n Bullies best books xx
I have never been a fan of this series' non consentual medical intervention on everyone. This starts to take a step away from that. James' grudge made sense. Prim staying away made sense. All the secret keeping from James was stupid. James was very aggressively handsy and not in a good way, yet once the truth is out, everyone is rainbows and love. Meh.
I really do like the Skin Walker series, but this one was a little soft for me. No real conflict but a really grumpy guy. Why avoid the action sequences?
I absolutely love the skin walker series. James's story is certainly different but a good kind of different. The trials he went through and the life he managed to survive made him strong. He finally finds the one thing that makes him while again.
I honestly thought I'd be bored since I have been binge reading this series, but I loved this one as much as every other one in this series. I was pleasantly surprised by the evolution of this character and loved his Angel so much. I definitely will continue to read the series.
I'm glad James got over his hate and hurt. Monroe is manipulative but he knows what's best for his skin walkers. Prim would have done anything for James to stop hating her and I'm glad she stick around for him
First one of this author books I have read. At first I enjoyed the lead up of events, the plot development. I felt it became a bit rushed at the end towards the HEA for my liking.
