Wow! I just read a movie! This book was everything........intriguing, vivid, shocking, sad, entertaining..........just everything you hope for in a book. I loved the very descriptive way in which Haiti and different parts of Haiti were mentioned. Each character weather you loved or hated them was intriguing especially with the loa that would enter and take over their body.........that just made everything even more interesting. There were points where I was shocked as hell, then mad, then sad. When I can read a book and actually be in my feelings I know the author (2 of them in this book) did the damn thang! Can't hardly wait for the next book!!

Whirlwind of Emotions

P.O.P
Witnessing the ultimate betrayal right before your eyes and being force to live with your betrayers is exactly what Zee and Mari had to do to stay alive. Both, emotionally bankrupt, it causes them to become people completely different from their norm.
It always seems like the worst always happens to the good ones and poor Zee just couldn't catch a break. Mari "bad ass" thought she had it all figured out, but could she be playing games with someone out of her league? Karter is not your everyday street boy. His past has hardened his heart and made him one of the most ruthless men walking around. His father may have the power of the country, but when pushed, Karter is one you would hate to be on his bad side. Saint (Karter's brother), the brain, the thinker, the calm one should never be taken lightly cause by all means, he can inflict twice the damage as his father and brother if need be.
Two families who were extremely close, torn apart by greed, lust, and power. But tell me, do you think you could you love someone with power and fortune if you were forced to? Would you have to be forced into doing so? Now tell me, could you love that same someone that commits the ultimate betrayal?

Man these siblings got on my everlasting nerves!!!! Zee and Mari just in dumb love lmaooo. Saint and Karter are total opposites but still have their dad ways. Enzo is a manipulative MF but he made the book more interesting because of how much control he had and how he connected everybody together. Even though Simbi character was barely mentioned I know she is a force to be reckoned with and I can’t wait to read more about her. Somebody gotta pick a side!! Will it be the right or bad side? Who knows. So much played out in the book and I’m anxious to see everybody outcome in part 2. Who will feel Mari’s wrath? Who will Enzo kill first? Who will live happily ever after? Can these relationships work out after everything that happened? Man these questions I need answers to ASAP! The character development from each character was a plus I loved it and definitely recommend this book. Idk who team I’m on but it’s more of Saint and Mari Lmaooo

Port of Princes

One click, One click, One click. This book is IT. I Loved it. My first reaction was this is not what I usually read from these authors. Once I got in my comfort zone I was not able to put it down until I was finished. I'm so ready for part 2.
Zee and Mari were family friends with Saint and Karter. They grew up like family. Saint and See had always had eyes for each other but nothing came of it at the time. During a night of a fami!y get together everything changed. Who would of thought that night would change everyone lives.
Enzo the father of Saint and Karter made his feelings clear about his love for one of the sisters. Enzo is a dangerous man, he's evil and has power that makes him the man that everyone is scared of. He will take a life without blinking his eyes. Enzo and his sons rules Port of Princes. Does his sons has enough courage to stand up to him?
The love, betrayal, murder, and loyalty of this book is like no other. I'm ready to find out who is left standing and if anyone is left with a love one. One click and get lost in the pages, you will definitely be blown away.

Explosive

Two very talented Authors who are uniquely different put together one helluva story. This is a story that will keep you interested and entertained from beginning to end. Enzo is a self absorbed, arrogant, heartless, disrespectful monster. His own selfish needs has screwed up Karter and Saint. This fool walking around without a care in the world and have no clue what he did to his own best friend just may be his downfall because he chose to act before thinking. Karter is Enzo mini me. He's just as cold hearted as historians father. However finding out what happened to him as a child and how he became the way that he is. Had me feeling pity for him. Saint had no idea of the horror he was going to witness. He knew his brother and father were ruthless but he didn't think the two of them would stoop so low. Mari lust for Karter had instantly turned into hate. Karter had taken something from her that she could never get back. Mixed with hurt, pain, and revenge. Mari rebels against the situation she was put in. Erzili has been broken. With the tragedy that struck. Her and sister are forced to face a harsh reality. While going through a range of emotions. She realized she had to find her inner strength. This ended as a cliffhanger. I can't wait to read part two.

Port of Princes - A Torrid Tale of Love, Loss & Betrayal and this story was definitely true to that title. Mari and Zee two sisters who had everything, beautiful house, money, loving mother and father, and futures mapped out in the States that they couldn't wait to jumped into. One horrible night changes everything for the for the sisters. With Mari and Zee having to figure out how to survive the Monster Enzo who is holding them captive, the sisters have to depend on each other. Mari is an inspiring model, feisty, sensual, full of herself and says what's on her mind. Erizili is modest, humble, beautiful and doesn't look down on people. The sisters are total opposites of each other and throughout the story they struggle to find even ground when it comes to escaping Enzo. Enzo's has to two sons Karter and Saint and just like Mari and Zee they are polar opposites. Karter is wild, crazy, shoot first ask questions later and wants nothing but to make his father proud of him. Saint is sweet, caring, low-key, and would prefer to showcase his art than follow in his father's footsteps.
This story had my attention from the first chapter. It was twisted, sad, but interesting all at the same time. The authors did a good job pulling you into the storyline. There were suspenful moments as well as some sentimental moments. There were times when I found myself having mixed emotions with the characters, I found myself annoyed, sad, happy, irritable. Characters I hated in the beginning, I ended up having soft spots for by the end. I loved how the authors painted the picture of Haiti. Most of us are used the Haiti they portray on the news, but the authors gave you the good and the bad of Haiti. The beautiful beaches, the culture, the rituals, the food, and just the country itself. There were moments in the story where I felt the story dragged a little, however it didn't last long. I definitely enjoyed reading this twisted tale and cannot wait for Part 2 of this story to finds out what happens with Enzo, Mari, Saint, Karter and Zee. I definitely recommend this book, you will not be disappointed.

I finished "Port of Princes" by Fabiola Joseph & Nika Michelle, and this was so over-the-top, so dramatic, and so entertaining.

"Port of Princes" is a story about two of Haiti's most prominent crime families, the LaRoses and the LeCoeurs. Lust and greed, harbored by Enzo LeCoeur, changes the lives of the LaRose sisters, Erzili, Marinette, and Simbi.

I don't want to give any spoilers, but this was a wild ride. The book's pace is that of a dramatic Haitian or Nigerian movie that plays in the background at the hair salon.

With the eldest sister, Simbi, in Miami, Erzili and Marinette deal with Enzo and his twin sons, Karter and Toussaint, in Port-au-Prince. The boys are the complete opposite of one another but still share killer instincts.

I liked the book. It was outrageous and exaggerated but absorbing.

The only aspects I had issues with was the length of the story and the cliffhanger. It's on the long side at 450 pages, and parts of the story were more asides than necessary elements of the main story. Also, the ending was a complete drop*. It picks up again in book two, but there isn't a sense of completion in the first book. So, that was irksome. However, the author was kind enough to send me the second book, so I'll read what happens next in the coming weeks.

(4 stars). This story was engaging, frustrating at times, but you still want to know, "what happens next?" It was such a pleasure to read a story based in Haiti with cultural aspects mixed within the plot. Just a heads up, this book has a slew of adult themes, but it adds to the reading experience.

*If you read this book, you'll understand. (Inserts smirk.)

This was a good read. A little slow paced but good. Enzo is really a sick human being and i really don't get him at all. Mari and Karter sigh they are so good together but it sucks that everything that has happened will more than likely not work in their favor. I feel so sorry for Karter, he just was a young boy who got taken advantage of and it turned him into such a lost soul. It was so nice to see him come out of his shell and show a softer side to him. I loved how he evolved as a character. Erzili and Saints story is a typical love story but sucky circumstances. I'm sure saint will kill his dad because of the love he has for her. I want enzo dead but i want Karter spared even though what he did was horrible because of his growth and because he seems so genuine and is showing remorse i feel like he should live

Good

So this book was actually fire 🔥🔥 soon as I got into it I can definitely see this as a movie. It's has everything you need for a good action/love story, I'm not familiar with the Haiti culture but it was interesting. The only thing I wasn't feelings was the voodoo aspect I can't get down with that. But otherwise it was a great book I love the characters and I got a soft spot for karter. He done some horrible things, I understand why he was so evil. I really rooting for him and Mari to be together..... And Enzo is the devil foreal I can't wait until he die, I believe he loves his sons but he just don't know how to express it. Saint & Ezrille love is pure and I'm rooting for them I know they gone survive the crash. I can't wait to part 2

Deceptive

My first book with this author, someone mentioned in a bookclub. First, this authors writing is great, it flows, her research shows that she took her time to make it right, will read other books for sure. Now... I have never disliked everybody in a book before, i cant stand any of them. At first I was like, OMG that is horrible, heartbreaking. Now, Im like keep em, none of them deserve to be free! The 4 of them can for sure have gotten out in a year. The guys are weak as hell, and i dont know who is worse Zee or Mari. With that said, on to part 2 because I need to know! Good read!

What a ride

So I’m torn!!! I really had to set the book down after chapter 7 because it got too intense for me to keep reading. That damn Karter ugh I hate his whole soul but he’s growing on me. How is that even possible? He’s a monster! Maybe it was his special drink concoction (ewwwww gross by the way) that brought the blood flowing in his heart.
Pause lol
Saint my poor Saint. I’m convinced he was adopted and not part of Enzos punk ass gene pool.
The girls are spoiled brats lol they both get on my nerves but you have to just love their soft sides.

Lust & Betrayal

P.O.P is not the type of book that I would normally read. I must say that I really enjoyed reading this book. It gives you insight into a culture that not many people experience unless you lived it. I loved how anything that was said in Creole was translated into English. This is a long book but it pulls you in with the lust and betrayal. I am looking forward to reading the next book to see what happens.

Twisted Tango of Disgust and Delight
Twisted Tango of Disgust & Delight
This one piece of work encompasses the best elements of each genre. The cover art introduced the scenery of Haiti and hinted at some spiritual dance and costumes. Once I was submerged in the pages, the loas lured me beyond this dimension. These cruel authors surrounded me with horrible things in beautiful places. They shattered my heart and spent the rest of the pages piecing it back together.

Could there ever be a love story more tragic than Erzili and Saint’s? Or a delightfully devilish duo more destructive than Mari and Karter? Their romance is everything to be admired but nothing to envy. The tango of the taboo and irrational emotions makes for an explosive story.

Erzili and Saint enchanted me with their dance. Enzo disgusted me with his illicit affinity. Karter is a lovable villain who pairs with Mari like fire to gasoline. The scenes are so majestically written that I was uncomfortable at times with my own responses. A reader might begin to wonder where their own morality would land if life rolled these dice in their direction. But before I could chastise myself too much I surrendered to the spirit of the story. They wanted you to tread the lines of disgust and delight. They wanted you to wrestle as the characters did with the range of internal conflict.

The words and imagery are still crashing my cranium long after the cover is closed.

I loved this book. I would recommend it only for the emotionally sound and mentally strong, though. Otherwise, you might mess up your life for the rest of the month.
