It's not often that I judge a book but its cover, but a cowboy who is also a firefighter! I needed to know more about this awesomeness. This is my first Kim Redford book and I enjoyed her writing style. Eden and Shane had hot chemistry, even though the storyline is often seen on small-town /cowboy books. Overall, it's an enjoyable read, with a cute town setting and funny well thought secondary characters. I will be looking to read more stories by Kim Redford.

Hot for a Cowboy is the fourth book in Kim Redford's Smokin' Hot Cowboys series. I really enjoyed the first book in this series, and wasn't at all happy with books #2 and #3, but I thought I'd give this installment a try in hopes that the author would have recaptured the things I liked so much in Book #1. I'm sad to say, it didn't happen, and although I tried several times over the past week to read this novel to the end, I simply couldn't, and I can only give it a 2-star rating for several reasons.

First, I didn't particularly either the hero or the heroine, nor did I like the set-up to this story. The heroine finds her husband in bed with another woman, falls down a flight of stairs and loses her voice? Broken bones and bruises I can understand, but losing her voice because she's so traumatized over her cheating spouse stretched my willing suspension of disbelief to the breaking point. They live in Los Angeles, where practically every other person you meet is divorced already, or cheating and about to be divorced. And exactly why did she lose everything she owned and every penny she earned as a radio show host when California is a community property state?

When she goes back to her home state of Texas, the first person she bumps into is her own ex-lover. A little too coincidental for this reader. She wants everything to be the way she left it years ago, but that's not how life works. The tall, handsome, hunk of a hero who shows up just in time to lift her VW out of its parking spot between two huge vehicles was right out of Superman, assuming that when she parked it, she didn't leave it in neutral.

Of course, she wants to revamp the old hometown radio station, and hopefully get her full radio voice back in shape, but the hero now owns the land on which the radio station and its transmitter stand, and he also wants the spring water there for his cattle, and she doesn't want him to take it. I'm sorry, but this story couldn't have been less romantic or more predictable if it tried.

Although I voluntarily requested an advance reader copy of this novel to give this author one more try (the third try), for me this novel was strike 3 for this author. While others seems to have apparently enjoyed it, I'm not one of them, and I cannot recommend this title.

HOT FOR A COWBOY by Kim Redford is an entertaining story with colorful characters. A second chance romance in a small town with a villain of an 'ex'! A community comes together trying to save a long serving radio station. This story has lots of good-looking volunteer firefighters with neighbors and friends for life!

We have a second chance romance with Eden and Shane. Eden comes back home after having a disastrous marriage to a complete cheating jerk of an ex husband, he not only took away her money, house, job but also her voice when she fell fleeing from catching him cheating on her. She comes back home to where she always felt comfortable and runs into a love she has never forgotten, Shane but now she is second guessing her choices and does not trust herself. Shane loves eden but he has a secret he is keeping from her, but when everything she wants is threatened he steps up and hopes she loves him like he loves her. Enjoy!

Shane you know likes to have his girl visualize certain things, “I don’t want to talk at all.” And he tossed back the covers to reveal what she did to him." Shane is a great negotiator“We’ll sleep in my room.” He guided her in that direction. “If I can’t watch over you to make sure you’re safe, I won’t sleep a wink.” I liked this book, I liked Shane.

I have always enjoyed returning to Wildcat Bluff and HOT FOR A COWBOY was no exception. This time we’ll watch one woman who has lost everything and returned home in imagined disgrace, and the one man who still sees her as his special lady find a second chance at love… if they can get beyond the past.

Almost a decade ago, Eden left Wildcat Bluff for California where she had a successful career, married, and seemed to be living her dream… until her slimeball jerk of a now ex-husband cheated, ruined her career and took anything of monetary value along with her confidence and self-esteem. She’s returned home to the one thing she can still count on as hers alone with plans to start over and rebuild what was stolen from her. She never planned to fall in love or give any man control of any part of her life – right up until her knight in cowboy boots turns out to be the man she left behind, the man who meant so much at one time but she was unable to give up her dreams for.

Shane never expected to see Eden again. Last he’d heard she had her successful career and never looked back. Life changes and seeing her again has brought back those feelings that he’s ignored for a decade. They might have a chance, but first, they have to deal with suspicious fires dangerously close to their ranches and Eden’s determination to never trust again.

HOT FOR A COWBOY is a good, solid cowboy/firefighter second chance romance. There’s suspense, a firebug to find, familiar faces, secrets, and simply a good love story rekindled once again. I enjoyed going back to this world and would not hesitate to recommend this story or the entire series to any reader who enjoys a good love story, likable characters, and interesting events.

This was a strange story for me. As I liked the idea of it, the setting and the wide range of characters, particularly some of the more memorable and quirky ones. But, I felt like I was missing something and I don't know whether that was because this is book four in a series I've not read before. Or it's simply because of the way this story was written, and although I found it easy enough to get into and to stay engaged. I did feel like everything between main characters Eden and Shane happened at warp speed and so I felt like I never had the chance to get to know them properly.

But saying that this story was sweet, easy to read and fairly angst free. And I'm sure fans of the series will enjoy this latest addition. Plus, as a new author to me, I would certainly check out more from Kim Redford and I'd go back and read this series from the start at some point in the future.

This just wasn't a story for me. It was impossible for me to get into the story, and I wasn't really a fan of either main character. First up is Eden's voice, or lack there of I suppose. I've heard of kids refusing to talk when something traumatic happens, but an adult falling down the stairs and losing her voice? Maybe I missed something, but it doesn't make sense to me. The first person she runs into is her ex Shane. He knows that he should tell her that he's pretty much taking away the main thing she came back to town for, but he doesn't. It really didn't get any better (for me) through what I made myself try to read. I finally gave up. Although I didn't like this one, I would give this author another read.

Hot for a Cowboy by Kim Redford is about second chances. Eden comes back home after having a terrible marriage. She comes back home to get her life back together again, and then she re connects with Shane. She always had feelings for him, but after her marriage failure she doesn't always trust herself. Shane has feelings for her also, but he also had a secret to tell her.

This story is steamy!. If you love a hot and sexy cowboy story with well developed characters and a plot that keeps you turning the pages...this book is for you!

This was a difficult book for me to read and review. I even put it aside and tried to come back to it to see if the story would capture my attention. Unfortunately, that didn't help. The heroine I found hard to like. The hero was somewhat better. I finished it, but it was one of those that took forever. It may be just a story that was not my cup of tea. I would definitely read another book by this author to see if it was just this particular book.

I enjoy reading second chance romance books and I’m always looking for new authors. I find that NetGalley is the perfect place to try out new books by new authors- but you can’t always know how good the book is going to be since you are one of the first reviewers.

I normally love the books I request, but this one I didn’t “love” as much as I thought I would. It was an ok story that took a lot of twists and turns but never seemed to end.

The romantic chemistry between the characters was okay, however the story line was tired. I ended up having several, "what the heck?" moments throughout with how odd the plot was. It also became very redundant towards the end. I'm a huge fan of cowboy romance novels, but this just wasn't it.

Title: Hot For A Cowboy
Author(s): Kim Redford
Character(s):
Eden Rafferty: Blonde, Blue Eyed
Shane Taggart: Red, Hazel Eyed
Setting: Wildcat Bluff, Texas
Tag(s): Romance, Contemporary
Content Rating: R
POV: Third Person
Smexy Level: Hot
Favorite Quote(s):
― “My heart’s always been in Wildcat Bluff.”
― “Eden, we’re meant to be together,” he rasped in a voice that conveyed much deeper emotion than mere words. “It’s always been that way. You ran long and hard, but you came back when the time was right.”
― “By the time I’m done, you won’t be able to do without me.”
― “We were a team before you left, and we’re a team now that you’re back. Like a team of horses, sometimes one pulls a little more weight and sometimes the other one does. That’s where we are right now. But in the end, it all evens out.”
Overall Opinion:
Eden is back home in Wildcat Bluff, Texas after losing everything in California: her marriage, career, and just about everything she owes. Eleven years has come and gone, and just before she settles back home she bumps into her childhood sweetheart Shane Taggart. Even after a decade apart, the fire rekindles making Shane wonder why he ever let her leave Wildcat Bluff in the first place. Neither one hadn’t expected their first encounter to be so soon or so intense and that only ignites when they remember how close their ranches are to each other. Still harboring thoughts about that midnight at Lovers Leap, the relationship shifts when someone is setting fires around the ranches.

“Hot For A Cowboy” is the pretty average cowboy second chance romance story. You can easily feel the strong connection between Eden and Shane, making you root for their happily ever after. Their flirtatious and witty banner, sexual tension and their commitment to each other won me over. The characters had the perfect chemistry and the sexual tension was scorching hot. They were a great mesh together and for once I wasn't able to come with any flaws in the leads. What I loved the most about them was loved Shane's teasing ways had always revealed just how much he cared about her.

The overall story was fine and the characters were likable. There was nothing to bragged about and it was pretty much an average romance novel. I did wish there was a little bit more excitement or suspense to really keep me intrigued. Moreover, the romance seemed quick. You'll think after being gone over eleven years and newly divorce, you'll take some time to get reacquainted with your first love before jumping into a new relationship. But to each their own I guess.

Eden Rafferty has just returned to Wildcat Bluff in a sorry state. Her career in Los Angeles is lost thanks to her lowdown, snake-in-the-grass, lying, cheating ex-husband and on top of destroying her career the slimeball has taken almost everything she owned in the divorce. Ranch radio station KWCD in the Wildcat Den which was left to her by her Uncle Clem is all she has left. It's where she got her start in broadcasting with DJ Wildcat Jack. Now it's where she intends to start over.

One day after returning back to her roots Eden is in town to pick up a few things. After leaving Easy In and Out she returns to her car in the convenience store's parking lot to find her ancient Volkswagon Beetle, named Betty by her Uncle Clem for Betty Grable, World War II pinup girl, hemmed in by a six-wheeled dually and a jacked-up pickup. She has no time for this as she has to get back to Wildcat Jack and the radio station. Fortunately a cowboy sees her predicament and steps up to help by lifting Betty and moving the car enough so Eden can get in. When Eden sees who her knight-in-shining-armor rescuer is she is struck by a passionate memory. The cowboy rescuer is none other than Shane Taggart, the cowboy who was her "first" back on prom night just before she left town to pursue her broadcast career. Both Eden and Shane feel that same chemistry at this unexpected reunion. Where do they go from here?

Hot for a Cowboy by Kim Redford is the fouth book in the author's Smokin' Hot Cowboy series. This book's storyline is a very interesting one with some surprises. The chemistry between the two main characters was fun to witness. Their struggles for a HEA is a test of true feelings and overcoming some loss of self-confidence on Eden's part. The firefighter cowboys and cowgirls of Wildcat Bluff are a truely dedicated and romantic bunch.

Disappointed...
You all know that me being me, I like me a good romance, ESPECIALLY if their are cowboys involved....but this, right from the get go it jumped right in. No build up, jumpy, and repetitive in the plot. Maybe it was just the writing style I couldn't do, but damn...I couldn't finish it. Maybe 80 pages till the end and more and more problems come up? With the way its written you CAN'T have only 80 pages without it being some merical that'll just bring it right back around! 2, because the concept was cute. I'm just not a fan of this one.

Sorry to say I could not even finish this book. It lacked from the very beginning. The characters were more like caricatures and just too over the top. Wordy is an understatement -- the author took several pages to state what could have been done in 1-2 sentences.

Eden was not a likable character for me -- more annoying than anything. Shane was a little better, but just too much.

Additionally, I found the overall impression of Texas to be almost joke-like. Such an exaggeration of what the state is really like.

I kept coming back in an attempt to finish (and maybe enjoy) the book, but it never happened.

Sizzling Hot, Filled with Romance and Community what's not to like about this book? Eden Rafferty came back home to Texas to lick her wounds from everything that fell apart in LA. The first person she runs into and comes to her rescue her first love Shane Taggert. There is a point when you realize that sometimes first loves never die.
