Mallet Thorne is in trouble, big trouble. All because he listened to a gypsy fortune-teller and not his own heart. He just wanted to make right the pain his brother, outlaw Mace Thorne, caused in Silverpines. So at the advice of the Gypsy he answers an advertisement for a groom. He has every intention of becoming the husband and father to a widow and her children even though he is unsure if he would be a good father and husband. That is until he sees the most beautiful woman ever. He's drawn to the beauty even as he sees the distrust in her eyes. Catrina Rosenmeyer hears the name of the newest man in Silverpines and is overcome with fear. Long ago a gypsy fortune-teller warned her to beware the thorn and she's convince Mallet is who she meant. All she wants is to stay hidden and grieve for her sister. So why is she drawn to the handsome Thorne like a moth to flame? Can the two of them follow the gypsy's advice or will the mutual attraction they feel overwhelm their fears and obligations? Will Mallet marry the widow or follow his heart to the beautiful Catrina? Will Catrina put aside fear and seek to build a foundation with the stonemason?

Another great addition to the Silverpines series. A gypsy fortune teller. A man following her advice to wed a widow with children. Mallet Thorn took that advice and ended up in Silverpines but he saw such a beautiful woman that he could not ignore. Catrina had also visited a gypsy and was foretold to beware the thorn so she was very weary of him! A story of two people that were really meant for each other but had a journey they had to make and find trust to overcome their fears. An enjoyable story you do not want to miss!
Enjoyed this story of Mallet and Cat. They meet in the town of Silverpines where she is hiding and he arrives as a mail-order groom. The story and characters are well written. It had me from the beginning and is amusing with a mystery, adventure, twists and turns. Cat grew up in the circus but ran away and Mallet wants to right the wrongs of his brother and is afraid of cats.

Catarina grew up in the circus, but a fear of fate has sent her on a different path... to Silverpines. Mallet feels that he must atone for the sins of others until a gypsy at the circus points him in the direction of Silverpines. This series has a charming cast of characters that keeps you entertained throughout each book. In this story, the intriguing Cat has caught the eye of Mallet Thorne. Can she let God guide her to be with her rightful mate, or will she run due to a fear of fate? Can Mallet overcome a sense of duty brought about by the sins of others, or will he let grace unshackle his heart and free him for the one he loves?

Catrina Rosenmeyer was a former circus performer and Mallet Thorne was a stonemason. You wouldn’t think they’d have anything in common. But the gypsy Nora with Catrina’s father’s circus sends them both on a journey. Her to discover why she has to decide between a thorn in her ear or one in her heart and he to fulfill a destiny and restore his family’s honor after his criminal brother destroyed it. There is an immediate attraction between them, but Catrina thinks he being a “thorn” is her undoing and he won’t be with her while he is in Silverpines to potentially marry another woman. There were a lot of quirky characters and moments including his intense fear of cats.
Mallet Thorne goes to Silverpines to meet his Mail Order Bride who he had been cortesponding with to see if when they meet in person and spend time together they can find happiness. Shortly after meeting the woman he's travelled to meet he is Introduced to Catrina who he can't stop thinking about. This is the story of Mallet and Cat finding each other and how they come to trust and love. This story has a HEA and is a clean romance novel. Can't wait for more.

Mallet Thorn came to Silverpines to marry a widow with two children who had lost her husband in the earthquakes in Silverpines. Catalina Rosenmeyer was a part of the circus in another town and after her sister David’s had died she came to Silverpines to to get away from her brother in law as he wanted a treasure box that Cat had because he thought it was his. This book as well as all the other books in this series has been a very good read. This is my review and mine alone. Norma Gorrill
This is a well written book with a unique and interesting story line. What an awesome story! Mallet is Mace Thorne’s half brother and is a good and decent man. He comes to town to make good on the damage Mace caused. He also is in Silverpines as a mail order groom to a widow with two children.
Then he meets Catrina, or Cat, as she goes by. And his world is shaken to its core and his life will never be the same.
Never did find out why Mallet had such an intense fear of a certain animal….
This was the first book in this series and by this author that I've read. I found it to be unique - mail-order groom and a carnival runaway heroine, comical - a man afraid of cats?!, and emotional - kidnapping. Great inspirational sweet romance!
I received an arc of this book. My opinions are my own.
I very much enjoyed reading latest story in the Silverpines series. Parker Cole has done an excellent job of creating interesting characters. The plot keep me involved in the mystery, turning page after page to find out what happens and what the treasure is that's hidden in the puzzle box.
Lovely story on how fear can cause roadblocks to happiness. And how trusting God in spite of our fears can lead to happiness. So many wonderful gems learned through the love story of two people with fears. Excellent writing and dialogue that flows seamlessly. Love Parker Coles books.

This is the 16th story in the Silverpines series. We're treated to two new characters, Catrina, a runaway from a circus. And Mallet, who is a half-brother of the bad guy, Mace Thorne, in the story of Elena and Tobias. We're treated to lots of previous characters and interesting twists due to Cat being raised in a circus. This is a nice series.
What a great story and not just because if the heroines name although I do love reading my name! Parker is one of my authors she is an amazing story teller I enjoy her books. Thank you
Mallet answers an add on the Grooms Gazzette and is in his way to Silverpines as a mail order groom. There he meet a carnival runaway, Catrina. You will enjoy this book as it reveals to story of their happily ever after.
This book was a little different from the books I am used to reading. I enjoyed it. Mallet and Catrina had issues in the beginning. Their story is tense for a while. You will enjoy the outcome! I received and ARC of this book. I am choosing to leave an honest review.
I liked that both the leading characters were a bit “different”. Through their acceptance of their true feelings they also found out more of their inner truth and were able to let go of the expectations that would have restricted their personal fulfillment. Enjoy 💜
This book was a sweet groom wanted with a twist, and a surprise ending. It also has some unanswered question s for the next book. Who is the mystery man who showed up?
This book has a surprising beginning for a Christian book, but knowing the author, I stuck with it! It was so worth it! A wonderful book with people coming to faith in unique ways!
What a wonderfully written book and the characters backgrounds are well thought out and the book is funny. This book is better than the other ones because I thought it was funny and I couldn't put it down.

So many twists occur, so many obstacles to them being together. A little slow at first but picked right up with murder, mystery. My free opinion. Thank.

An interesting tangle of fears and mystery that entangle several citizens of the rebuilding town with compassion for differences and faith that all will be well.
What an interesting and unique twist in the Silverpines series. There were some laugh out loud moments in this book that were great. Another fantastic addition to the Silverpine series!
