What happens when you meet your soul mate, but he’s married?
You have to walk away.
Kaelyn and Chase never expected to see each other again, but months later, Kaelyn’s eyes find Chase’s across the sports bar.
This time, there’s no wedding ring in sight.
Though he might appear to be single, the darkness and sadness surrounding him mean that he’s still just as unobtainable as before, and they are forced to go their separate ways for the second time.
However, fate keeps bringing them together, and with a connection that’s too hard to ignore, Chase eventually lets Kaelyn in—but only as a friend.
It’s not long before lines begin to blur, and their friendship quickly turns into something more, something explosive.
Forever is within reach, but are they able to latch on to their happily ever after, or will they let it slip away?
Receptionist by day, author by night, Elena Matthews is from Manchester, United Kingdom, the home of Manchester United, MediaCity, and of course, Coronation Street. When Elena isn’t writing, she can be found with her nose in a book or watching guilty pleasures, such as Grey’s Anatomy. And, when she isn’t doing those things, you can often find her on Facebook, or obsessing over Kellan Kyle, book-boyfriend extraordinaire.
I did not read this and nor will I ever in this lifetime. This review is written on behalf of someone else who is dictating it to me while in the midst of giving birth because she is THAT angry that she read this thing...Lol.... So here goes.... Last warning! DO NOT READ IF YOU DON'T WANT MAJOR SPOILERS!!!
Hero in this story is a married man up until his wife dies which is at about 95-97%! He & his wife Olivia were soulmates. They married at 19 (they are both now 34) and Hero described her as his best friend, his love & his "Forever". They were very happy for many years until he made it into the Hockey League and the fame & fortune turned her into a drug addict and a cheater. Their marriage suffered and on the night he was going to give her divorce papers (not because he stopped loving her, but because he couldn't stand to see her ruin her life anymore), she overdoses and goes into a coma (he finds her naked with a 20 something year old naked guy) and later on learns that she is pregnant with a little girl that is not even his!
Heroine in this story falls in love with him and he keeps giving her mixed signals throughout the damn book! When he finally takes her to see his wife in the hospital, he tells her the entire story. In every conversation, he states over & over again how she was his "Forever" and how wonderful, beautiful & kind she was - and how much in love & happy they were before the drugs took over. He states multiple times that he will always love her to his dying days and will raise her daughter as his own!
This statement summed up the entire book:
"Kaelyn, when I said I loved you, I meant it. What I feel for you is beyond anything I’ve ever felt, even with Olivia. Last night was the best night of my life, and I don’t know what I would have done without you these last few months. You’ve been my rock, and I will always be thankful for that, but today, seeing Sophia for the first time, it put my life into perspective, and it made me realize that I need to put this little girl first, forever and always. Putting her first means putting you second, and with her in my life, you’ll only ever be second place, and you deserve more than that. You deserve the world, and I can’t give you that. I will never be able to give you that. I was being greedy, keeping you for as long as I have. I wish things were different. I wish I could live my forever with you, but I can’t. My forever is my daughter now.”
He then kicks her out of his home & life and this was at the 97% after his wife gave birth and died. AND he only decides to go after heroine after a friend pushes him to do so & because he wants a mother for his kid - and of course stupid heroine takes him back because we can't have her just once kick him in the teeth and move on! Nope.
Now I don't know about anyone else, but if anyone thinks this is a romance, well I have a bridge to sell you!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Is this a joke? It must be my brain playing tricks on me at 3:45 am. It’s sleep deprivation. Otherwise I am sleeping and having a nightmare where romance became this poor excuse of a book. I’ll be back after 8 hours of good sleep and read the blurb and review again just to make sure... Or maybe I am in candid camera?! 🤪🤪🤪🤪
Elena Matthews is one of my favorite authors. I was so excited to see there was a book 3, My Forever, coming in the Our Forever Series.
I didn't read the blurb for this book because I know everything she writes is amazing. However, what I wasn't prepared for was the heartache and tears from Chase story. He was a retired professional Hockey player that had kept his issues hidden. Issues that no one should have to face. Alone for that matter. What he wasn't prepared for was, Kaelyn. His saving grace. His angel that pulled him from the depths of despair. You heart can't help who you love. But one thing was standing in the way. His wife.
Kaelyn was a former ballerina turned Yoga and Pole Dancing instructor. Yoga and Pole Dancing kept her close to the one thing she loved the most, Ballet. Kaelyn had her run ins with Chase. In her eyes, it was Fate. She fell hard and fell hard fast. Chase and Kaelyn were a match made in heaven. There moments were swoon-worthy.
They had a few obstacles to get through before they could be togethor. Can their love last through the obstacles they face.... Read and find out.
Side note. I have watched Matthews grow as an author over the years. I have to say My Forever, is by far the best book she has written to date!!!!!! Congratulations on an AMAZING book....
A stand-alone in the Forever series, that makes my heart ache and soar ! When Elena announced Chases book I was jumping for Joy! As I wanted to know more and he needed his story to be told ! Now after reading it and not being able to put it down ! I was not left disappointed and Elena definitely delivered !
Chase is a complicated and beautifully broken man ! He doesn’t know he’s own worth ! And with this little nugget of information all I wanted to do was reach into the pages grab him, hug him and never let him go. I knew he would evoke emotion and I knew that this book would not be an easy ride !
Emotionally charged but with Elena style it was brilliant and the twist and turns of Chases life just kept coming !
Kaelyn let him go on several occasions knowing it wasn’t the right time ! But how many times can you just walk away ! A olive branch of friendship was offered and she took it just to be in his life ! And boy was this a great choice !
As you read and we go through the emotions ! There’s many moments my heart broke and moments my heart was fighting for these two ! But I will not say anymore ! You need to read it and see and feel what happens for yourself !
Let me start by saying that as I write this review, I have 2 chapters left to read. I’ve just not had the time to allocate to reading due to feeling poorly and life has been kicking my butt.
That said…
My Forever is an amazing book. It has ALL the feels and my heart hurts so much.
Chase and Kaelyn meet at the wrong the time, there is an undeniable spark and connection between these two, but life has other ideas for these two.
After a chance meeting, long after the first time they met a friendship begins to flourish between them. They slowly begin to open up to each other and reveal the secrets of their pasts.
Chase is struggling, he knows he wants to let Kaelyn in, but he feels that it is unfair to bring his baggage into her life. He’s conflicted, but he realises that it isn’t his decision to make, so he opens up fully to Kaelyn and hopes that she doesn’t run.
Chase is a strong, loyal, loving and selfless guy, he knows what he needs to do to help and protect those less fortunate than himself, he’s not scared to step up and put them first.
Kaelyn is trying to ignore her cheating ex who keeps texting her. After bumping into Chase at a bar and spending some time with him, she begins to realise that Chase is the one, even though she knows he’s just as unavailable now as he was at the New Year party when he had a wedding ring on.
Kaelyn enjoys spending time with Chase but she is confused by the mixed signals that she receives from him, especially as there is no explanation just cryptic sentences. Until the day he decides to bare all to her. When he does the understanding and empathy that she demonstrates is phenomenal!!
These characters are totally amazing. Each of them plays their role extremely well.
Chase is dealing with so much, he’s going through something that no one should ever have to, more so he’s doing it on his own. No one else knows and he has no support network for himself. He’s handing and dealing with it the best he can.
This book has caused me so much heart ache and so many tears! My Forever is written amazingly well, the thought, emotion and love that have been invested by Elena are clear to see and feel.
My forever captured my attention from the very first word and the more I read the more engrossed I became, the further into Chase and Kaelyn’s world I was pulled.
My Forever is a really really good book. Whilst it could be read as a standalone, I would highly recommend reading the entire series in order for the best experience.
I read the first two books in this series and then started reading this book straight after! I enjoyed the first book and didn't really like the second book as much, so I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about this book! I also won an e-ARC from the author, so I did receive a copy about a week before the release date! After reading this book, I can say that I enjoyed it more than the second book and about the same as the first book! I loved the idea of the plot and that there was plenty of romance in it! The romance allowed for a few seriously hot scenes between the two main characters and they were really hot! The plot didn't have any action and suspense in it, but I wasn't expecting any! There was also enough going on in the plot to keep me interested and wanting to read on and find out how things were going to develop! The characters were also amazing and made this book even better! Kaelyn was the main female character, and in this book she was funny and there was something I liked about her! Kaelyn also spoke her mind and she wasn't shy about speaking about any topic lol! This allowed for a few funny scenes! I also had respect for Kaelyn because she fell in love with her love interest and she tried her best to be there for him and to support him with the situation he was going through! She also worked hard to support herself! Chase was the main male character and love interest of Kaelyn! I felt for Chase in this book because he went from retiring after a massive hockey win to his relationship taking a turn for the worst all in one night! This did make me feel for Chase because he was dealing with a lot and he made a big decision in this book, which must have been hard for him as it was going to change his life! It was also easy to see Chase's feelings for Kaelyn develop, and that he really, really loved her! He did push her away, but he did this because he thought he was doing what was best for her, but he really wasn't! I loved that this book was written from both Kaelyn and Chase's point of views! I was hoping that it was going to be because the first and second book were written from both characters point of views, so I'm really happy that this book was too! It helped me connect and understand Kaelyn and Chase more and it allowed for more things to happen in the plot, especially as both characters didn't spend every minute of the book together and were going through their own situations! I'm also not sure if this is the final book in this series! I can't find any information on Goodreads of another book and there wasn't any information at the end of this book, so I'm not sure! I still have the prequel series to this one to read though and I can't wait to see what this author is going to release next! The cover for this book is also absolutely perfect for it! The cover image suits the feel of the book and the relationship between the two main characters and the cover models are the perfect Kaelyn and Chase! Big thank you to Elena for an ARC of My Forever!
If you want a read that will keep your heart hurting and your eyes damp the entire time then this is definitely a story for you. Chase is an amazing man with so much pain in his life. He has so much he has to deal with and he refuses to let anyone else in until he meets Kaelyn. Kaelyn knew the moment she met Chase that he was her soul mate, yet she was smart enough to let him go. When he comes back into her life and offers her friendship she says yes while trying to hold her true emotions at bay. I just love these two. I love Chase for being the amazing man that he is, even though he doesn't think he deserves happiness. I love Kaelyn for being her spunky self and being the amazing friend that Chase needs. These two were perfect for each other, and even with their heartache and pain I prayed for their HEA with each other, and only each other. I know every book has to have some kind of drama or an enemy of some sort, and I respect that and never hate, but I hated Olivia and the pain she put Chase through. She rung him through the ringer emotionally and physically. While my heart broke for all involved I was truly glad to see her go and for Chase to finally be able to give himself freely and completely to Kaelyn. What an amazing story. This is the second book by this author I have read and I have loved both books. I will continue to look for more books by her. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.*
So talk about right person/wrong time! This is the issue in the beginning. Kaelyn and Chase meet at a friend's pj party on New Year's Eve.... she had just found her long-term boyfriend with someone else and he... he has a wedding ring on his finger. Kaelyn feels emotionally upset by this but can't understand why since she doesn't know him. This is the first time they have met. The connection is instant. Chase admits (in his head to himself) that he can't stop thinking about her. There is just something about her. Time passes and these two meet again in a bar. Kaelyn is no longer dating anyone since she found that same man with ANOTHER woman. And Chase no longer has a ring on his finger. Too bad he appears to be unattainable. Both are still highly attracted to each other. Kaelyn puts herself out there and thinks Chase wants her too.... however, he tells her he isn't enough for her. That he comes with too much baggage.
Is he still hung up on his ex-wife? Does he miss her? Did she leave him?
We just don't know at this point in the story. I will say they develop a friendship.
This is book 3 in this series and while it wasn't my favorite couple in this series, they are both loveable. I did enjoy seeing my favorite couple in this book though. :) This can be read on its own, but I do recommend reading them in order.
This is a great but quite emotional friends to lovers story. It's about meeting your soul mate at the completely wrong time of your life but being able to push past all your fears and eventually been able to grab a hold of true love with both hands and cherish it forever.
The moment Kaelyn and Chase meet they had this connection the problem was Chase was married so nothing could ever happen between them. Months later they meet again and this time there is no wedding ring but Chase's life isn't any less complicated, he's still in no position to offer Kaelyn anything other than friendship. As she becomes his rock the flames of love ignite but how will it she fair when she discovers what Chase is hiding, will she run for the hills or stay and fight to show Chase that she can be his forever.
This is a great series from Elena Matthews that I would highly recommend, plus each book can be read as a complete standalone.
Chase just won the game of his life but off the ring he isn't winning so much. His wife struggles with addition and all he wants is to end the cycle of his flop of a marriage. Kaelyn is over being cheated and lied to by every man in her life. Chase and Kaelyn have insistent chemistry they both fall hard and fast for one another but with the baggage they both carry can they find their happy ever after with each other? I loved this book the twist an turns and abundance of pop culture references makes this story relate able and easy to fall in love with.
MY FOREVER By Elena Matthews 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Available: January 25
Elena Matthews is a new to me author. My forever is the story of retired NHL player Chase and former ballet student turned fitness instructor, Kaelyn.
The connection between the two is instant although circumstances keep them apart. Fate has a way of bringing them together, finding each other when they need it the most.
“She’s so incredible, funny, feisty, and unbelievably sexy. She makes me forget about all the bad in my life, and it’s like being able to breathe again after months with no oxygen.”
I loved everything about this book. The characters, the angst, the plot, EVERYTHING! I highly recommend this book. Elena Matthews drew me in with her words and the story was on point! Love it!
What another great book by Elena Matthews! I was hooked well drawn into this book as soon as I started reading as I just knew there was something about Chase that I needed to know about and this book did not disappoint at any point. Full of emotions.. love.. loss .. heartbreak with some twists thrown in along the way this read has it all. I loved Kaelyn so much.. honest.. straight talking and just wanting to find her forever it was so great to see her slowly but surely let Chase into her heart! Chase retired NHL hockey God.. hot.. alpha.. and sticks to his word with all he has makes you just want put him under your wing and love him always! It's always great to see snippets from the other couples in the series too when reading.
Wow what a story! It had all the emotions and felt so real. This is a top read of 2019. There is so much heartbreak but so much love and laughter. I could not put it down! You will fall in love with Chase and Kaelyn. It breaks your heart and puts it back together again, my kind of story ;)
I'm usually pretty forgiving with heroes who are assholes for most of the book, but chase really got me irritated. Kaelyn was so sweet and forgiving but she was so stupid to forgive chase for his horrible behavior throughout the entire book so quickly. Sis shouldn't have taken him back after the way he treated her for no reason whatsoever, chase was overall an immature selfish idiot. But I loved kaelyns personality so I'm giving two stars
This story is an emotional rollercoaster journey from beginning to end. This talented author has written a beautiful and flawless story which had me totally captivated throughout and I cannot wait to read more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend for all readers.
Really enjoyed this book straight in pulls at the heart strings. I love the way the author includes characters from the other Forever books and yet they all work as standalones. This author never fails all her books have good storylines and My Forever is another fine example.
