Four Horsemen Tales #6

Luck is Not a Factor

Rate this book
Nineteen outstanding authors. Nineteen extraordinary stories. One bestselling universe.

It’s the Twenty-Second Century. The galaxy has opened up to humanity as a hyperactive beehive of stargates and new technologies, and we suddenly find ourselves in a vast playground of different races, environments, and cultures. There’s just one catch: we are pretty much at the bottom of the food chain.

What do you do when the odds are stacked against you? Mercs plan, strategize, and sometimes even scheme, but there is one thing they all believe—luck is never a factor.

Unless it is.

Enter the Four Horsemen universe, where only a willingness to fight and die for money separates Humans from the majority of the other races. Edited by bestselling authors and universe creators Chris Kennedy and Mark Wandrey, “Luck is Not a Factor” includes all-new stories in the Four Horsemen universe by a variety of bestselling authors—and some you may not have heard of…yet. The nineteen authors take on various aspects of the universe, giving you additional insight into a galaxy that isn’t at war…but definitely isn’t at peace. There’s only one thing for sure—anything’s possible for a fistful of credits!

An excellent short story anthology

This book has fairly good editing, and the stories picked mesh well together. These stories really help to continue fleshing out the 4hu and give us background on several new merc companies. We ride alongside them during the highest of the highs, and the lowest of the lowes. Suit up, because its going to be a hell of an adventure.

Good read

Another anthology from the 4HU and possibly the best yet, there are an amazing variety of tales though I must confess that A Token of Affection and To Save the World are my personal favourites because they add depth to the initial 1st contracts and the Depik both of which are favourite topics, but there is a tales for everybody.

Amazing Range of Stories

The books keep on getting better and better. From space opera, trickery, to the emotion of a widow at her husbands at her husbands funeral, and later when her sons pass the Vows. It was wonderful to find out how the Golden Horde split from its its drug dealing predecessor and became a matriarchy. Excellent stories that advance the story arc.

Essential Reading

My first proper Scifi book i read at school was Heinleins Starship Troopers and to this day i still love it, this series of the Four Horsemen is just as good.
This new anthology brings some new charachters and reunites us with some older ones.
3 stand out stories ore Sattara, A Token of Affection and Caspers Widow!

A fine addition to the universe.

Many of the stories are continuing characters and story lines from earlier books. There are some new characters mentioned. All of the authors do a great job adding to the Four Horseman Universe.

Galaxy of heroes, villains and those just trying to survive

The Four Horsemen universe is an enjoyable military SF realm written by a growing number of authors. I was glad to see and enjoy Rob Howell 's piece in this anthology .
The varied stories in this anthology give a solid vision of the Four Horsemen Universe and its myriad races and politics

Many different viewpoints of the Merc scene

I continue to fall deeper in love with the 4HU and the authors that spawned it. These stories continue to amaze me and fulfill my hopes that they will continue for years. Spend the money, buy the whole series so far, I think you will be pleased.

As usual, another excellent entry in the 4HU universe. As an anthology, some of the stories tied into the main story line, but most of them were just mercs doing what mercs do.. Killing aliens, and getting paid..

Not bad..

A couple of good stories but overall, just, not bad. If you read the books in order then you get an anthology between each major story. They are supposed to fill in the gaps. This one did a little but not much.

Sad addition to this series...

Very boring. A lot of fluff without much substance. I got to the end of the book and resent the time wasted reading this trash.
Save your money and, more importantly, your time by not buying/reading this Scat!

Could not finish.

It got a four star, but I just got tired of the book. Seven more words . Will say, there were a couple good stories in this collection.
