Slivered Souls #2

Convalescent

Rate this book
All she wanted was to feel again, but when Kisa stumbled into Dolor's life, she didn't know it would change her entire existence. Being told that one is destined and damned to destroy the world isn't what she had in mind. The more she learns, the more questions she has, and getting answers is harder than she thought. And then there's Dolor. Mysterious, sexy, dark, he pulls her into his gravity, challenging her to surrender to her feelings and what her body tells her is right. Dolor feels like home, but Kisa still holds back. Feelings aside, a prophecy is unfolding before their very eyes, and it's a race against the clock and fate itself to find a loophole before it's too late. With Dolor by her side, and the supernatural world unraveling before her, will Kisa be able change her destiny before it's too late? Will she be able to protect not only the world from herself, but her heart from Dolor's magnetic charm? Or will she lay waste to them all?

Oh how I love this series! The first book, Slivered, blew me away. Convalescent continues the story of Kisa and Dolor, getting hotter and better, the pages practically burning to cinders as I read them. Kisa has to come to terms with a lot of changes, including her feelings for Dolor and his for her. We get to learn more about the secondary characters - who hopefully will get their own books (hint hint Kandi!) and the worlds they inhabit. No spoilers here, you’ll have to read it for yourself. The quality of the writing, the caliber of the editing, the artwork of both the cover and the chapter headings and intermissions is just top notch. I don’t want this series to end. It’s too good. I’m totally in love with Dolor and rooting for him and Kisa the whole way. I’ve had the same, hands down favorite author for 22 years-nobody has come close to equaling her - but Kandi Vale has done just that. If you haven’t read Slivered, what are you waiting for? You’re missing out on the best new author ever.

This is another stand out performance by Ms. Vale. Kisa is developing and is learning who and what she is through her struggles to survive. Dolor is hot as always. Demanding and alpha in all the best ways but it’s his gentleness with Kisa that makes me melt. He instinctively knows what she needs often before she does. You also see glimpses of all the main characters’ pasts in this book. I didn’t want it to end.

Loved Convalescent possibly more than Slivered (Slivered Souls Trilogy Book One)!

Note, this story does end on a cliff hanger; so, if you're not a fan of cliff hangers, you may want to hold off on reading this trilogy until the last book comes our in January! Gah! I just realized I have to wait until January for the third and final book!

But, if you can handle cliff hangers, I would strongly encourage you to read this series! Sooooo good!!

Step back into Dolor and Kisa's world. A world where nothing and no one is what they seem. The second installment of the Slivered Soul series is sinfully delicious. If you thought that Slivered was hot wait until you sink your teeth into Convalescent. I literally could not put the book down. I devoured this book in a day and a half. Kandi Vale is a truly gifted author and the world that she created will suck you in. Mind, Body, and Soul.

I am not one to read bondage type books but I think Kandi Vale is changing my mind on this quickly! I love the players, I love the worlds, I love everything about this series. I am not going to lie these books are a very hot read! So if you like hot guys, give and take and visiting other realms then this book is for you! I read Slivered first because I have to read series in order and I would recommend reading it first just so you know who the major players are!

Wow!

Wow! Amazing! Kandi Vale blew me away again with her second book in the Slivered trilogy. I really like Kisa and Dolor. I love the fact that Dolor is tender with Kisa, that he can show a softer side when she needs it.
The story is still super interesting, I cant wait to read the third book!
A serie worth discovering, you're gonna devour them!!!

My only complaint about his book is that my water bill is going to skyrocket from the cold showers I'm taking! I don't know how to express how much I love the world Kandi has built within the pages of Convalescent. She blew my mind as a debut author with Slivered, and took my breath away with Convalescent. Kisa and Dolor build upon their relationship in the most delicious ways, and Kisa gets some insight into the people (beings) around her. Their world is written so immersively that I was completely absorbed in it. Just like with Slivered, I was surprised at the words "The End" because I got lost in Convalescent. If your on the fence about this series, I say give it a go. If you read Slivered and are up in the air, give it a go. It's different enough from Slivered that you just might get hooked.

This is one of two series that I'd reread, actively - and I do not say that lightly. I like a series/book that can silence my academic brain, I want to get lost in a fantasy world, and hear the sounds as well as smell the surroundings of whatever world I'm thrown into. Slivered Souls, and specifically Convalescent is one of few that truly does that for me.

The detail that Kandi wrote is absolutely stunning, I mean you can really honestly feel what Kisa felt during each scene, and that goes for all the other characters, too. Even the supporting characters were well thought out, had a mind of their own, and I felt like they left permanent impressions with me (ie, they were not forgettable). Even the way the surrounding area (the club, Kisa's apartment, etc) are described, it's magical. I never had to stop because I couldn't work through a scene or rearrange my thoughts; the way Kandi writes is magical honestly.

This book was very sensual and powerful, I think I poured through it in three hours, never being able to tear my eyes from it. It really will suck you in and you will feel like you're standing next to Kisa or Dolor. I really like how parts of each characters past is wound together, leaving you gasping for more but never getting SO complicated that it's massively confusing. This is easily one of my favorite books ever. I definitely can't wait for book 3!

* NO SPOILERS* Well folks, Kandi Vale has done it again!!! She has knocked the ball out of the field, dunked the final basketball and won all the trophies. Okay, so it shows that I am a reader NOT a sports writer. Kandi's second book in the Slivered Souls Trilogy "Convalescent" is FANTASTIC!!!!! If I didn't KNOW it was only her second book to be published, I would never have guessed it!!! Dolor and Kisa are back and larger than life as ever. The main characters continue to grow and their personalities develop more depth. AGAIN (as with Slivered) I could not put it down and in fact read it three times in a row. Very, very unusual for me to do. Kandi has blown my mind and changed my world! I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!!!!!!!! It's not very often that you get a sequel that moves you as much (if not more) than the first book in a series. Come on Number 3 in the Trilogy!!! Although I am also sad that the third book would mean the trilogy is over, it would give opportunities for "spin-offs" and THAT would be worth reading.

Ok.. I will keep this short. Kandi Vale has put herself on my obsession list with her first 2 books. This is not an easy task as my favorite 2 authors are Sheralyn Kenyon and Laurell K Hamilton. Mrs. Vale takes time to define things that most others do not. You can tell that she doesn't just throw scenes together and hope for the best. Her books hook you then just flow..... Hours later you realize that is WAY past bed time. So do yourself a favor and read. She will transport you to a realm where you forget everything else.

Kandi is a mind-blowing author! When I read “Slivered”, I was so blown away and just the cliff hanger ending hurt so bad. Then comes “Convalescent”, you’re sucked in by the end of page one and it doesn’t let you go until the end. But at the end though you’re just hoping that it isn’t going to end. Dolor and Kisa’s world grew so much in this book. Their relationship blossoms and the heat is turned up in the BDSM world. Whoa! HOT!!! HOT!!! HOT!!! This one is certainly a page turner.

I don't know how, but Kandi did it again! A book full of mythical creatures to explore, both old and new. The story goes deeper, secrets are revealed and you are sucked into the world of Kisa as if you are living in it! And boy did I wish I was! Somehow Kandi knows how to make every chapter a perfect valance of steamy scenes and amazing storytelling. I can't wait for the next book!

I couldn’t stop reading Convalescent! I devoured this book in less than 3 hours! Dolor is my new book boyfriend. The chemistry and heat between Kisa and Dolor is phenomenal! There’s the added mix of danger and dying to know what happens next! I can’t wait for book 3! In the mean time, I will keep rereading this! Fabulous job Kandi Vale! What a world you have created!

I've come to one realization about the author Kandi Vale.
The woman is a writing goddess.

You know a book is good when you don't know where to begin with your review and you're just staring at the screen with a frustrated face because you want to write a review worthy of a newspaper, but you sound more like a failing chipmunk *squeak squeak*

ANYWAY!

Let me try to put to words how beautiful and stunning this novel is. Kandi Vale has a way with her words that impacts you hard. I started this novel in amazement, alongside the heroine Kisa, seeing the magical life manifest before us. The way the author describes the magical creatures and the magic that is hidden from the heroine in the first novel is stunning and leaves you breathless. And then you get hit with the sexiness and raw power that is Dolor and you're left breathless for a totally different reason.

"Don't pout, Kitten. You know how I like you kneeling."

Dolor's POV chapters are my favorite thing about this book--besides Kisa's growth and kicka** transformation, but more about that in a moment--because Dolor is everything. He's dominant, fearless, dark, and twisted, but not unkind. I've been interested in the lifestyle for some time now, but it's very hard to find good novels with BDSM featuring a consensual and healthy lifestyle. Dolor's darkness was so inviting. He, unlike a lot of heroes, admits he has darkness surrounding him, but instead of drowning in it, or forcing others to drown in it, he controls it and embraces it. He doesn't let it consume him and he refuses to let his Kitten drown in her darkness either. He also refuses to leave her and teaches her about, not only her growing sexuality, but also her newfound darkness and how to take back her life.

"You should fear it, and then conquer that fear. You are strong enough to look at the darkest parts of yourself and embrace them. You can take it, and then you can rule that darkness. You could rule it all."

He's the perfect hero, in my opinion. Dolor is one of my top book boyfriends right now and I know other readers will adore him too. But, like, don't get any ideas. I totally called dibs on him and Kisa is cool with it.

True story *nods head as I slowly inch away from Kisa and her newfound beast*

Now, another favorite part about this book? Kisa. Kisa, Kisa, Kisa. God, I adore that woman to pieces. She's bold, outspoken, and has been through so much trauma, but she turns around to the world that keeps knocking her down and stands back up to take a bite out of it later. Although at times wary and fearful of her growing power and darkness, she continues to fight through her fear to keep those she loves safe.

"Oh, little warrior. None of us are whole. You just need to decide what pieces you can live without, and which ones you can't."

I love her feistiness and I'm proud of her in many ways. I'm not sure if I could be as brave as her, if I went through what she did, but she encourages me to face my life every day with a determination I didn't have several months ago. Kisa, in many ways, represents to me who I can be if I allowed myself to see past the darkness of my own life and I'd forever love and admire Kisa, and Dolor, for giving me strength. Kisa's transformation in this book is much different than the first book, but no less beautiful. She learns to embrace herself and every new aspect of her life.

Overall, in short, this book is amazing, stunning, magical, and haunting. It'd make you question everything about yourself, about how you look at life, but at the same time it'd give you an escape from your reality for a few hours and you'll experience true magic. You'll laugh, and cry--boy, did I cry--and you'll root for these characters until the very end. And then, like me, when you get to the end and there's no more book, you'll cry and then smile because it was utterly breathtaking and you can't believe what you just read.

Again, I'll warn you, reading this novel will turn you into a Kandi Vale fan and you'll want to poke her with a stick to get her to write faster, because you NEED to know what happens next. I, for one, am eager for a certain scene to happen between Kisa and Dolor and will have the tissues ready when it happens. If this long review didn't tell you, I love this beautiful novel and I highly recommend it to everyone!!

Ladies make sure you have a change of panties with you at all times when reading Convalescent. I haven't personally found a series that I enjoyed the second book just a little bit more then the first. The moment I recieved it I downloaded it and was ready to dive in. After my kids went to bed I started and before I new it I was 30 percent done and it was 1:00am. I went to bed reluctantly only cause I new my kids were going to be up in about 6 hours and the baby in about 3 hours to feed. The moment my eyes opened Convalescent was the first thing that came to mind and what happens next? Does Kisa gain control of this new power/beast that has been awoken inside of her? Does she always stay true and faithful to her soulmate that is no longer with her, or does she finally give in to her lust for Dolor? For the next 48 hours I was sucked into Kandis world both nights I was up till 1 am and by the second day I couldn't wait to finish I started the moment my coffee was done brewing. My inner beast is craving book number 3. You want sexy, hot, passionate chemistry, tenderness but roughness all in one well you have found the right series. I've never read a book like this and it has now opened up but interest if ya no what I mean 😉 5 STARS ALL THE WAY! Also want to note that I would of finished the book in one sitting if I didn't have littles that depend on me, it was that good!

First of all if you have not read Slivered (book 1) of this series - why??? Go get it (it's free on Kindle Unlimited) then you will be able to fully appreciate Convalescent.

I love the way Convalescent seamlessly picks up from Slivered, the storyline unfolds gently while the heat between Kisa and Dolor BURNS!

The character development through the story is wonderful. The book deals with loss and trust just beautifully. The dynamics between all of the characters are just perfect. I want them all to have spin offs!

Kandi has written a novel to escape into - the words draw you in so well I felt like it was being played out in my imagination. It's steamy, it's paranormal and it's fantastic.

Book 3? I'll take that now please!!

I'm in love

This book was so intense. I couldn't stop reading, and I hate that there wasn't more to it because im not ready to read and finish the series with the last book. Dolor and Kisa are intoxicating and I am dying to find out what is in store for them with the third book!

“That better have been glamour on his part. If you were really eye fucking some stranger in front of me, I think I would have to find my Cane.”

This is just a tid bit of the saucy, Quirky, Sexy story ahead. Convalescent by Kandi Vale will make you weak in the knees, Kisa and Dolor really know how to immerse you in a story! The title in itself is just a perfect reference to how the story progresses but to find out how you’ll have to crack these pages open! I am speechless.

I thought Kandi’s first book Slivered was perfection. Now as she continues to carry us in our journey in the world of Kisa and Dolor it is still nothing but perfection. These books have surpassed my expectations.

Kisa is constantly learning more about herself, her power, and this new world around her. Dolor never goes back on her, he helps her with everything she needs. Especially her need to stay in control.

Oh and did I forget to mention it gets hot and steamy? oh so very much so! you’ll be holding your breath, biting your lip and giving the occasional squeal of delight 😜 there is so much character development for many of the characters in book 2!

As well as some new ones! You don’t want to miss seeing how they grow, and finding out who they truly are. In which direction will Kisa go? a submissive pet? a mutual partner? stubborn like a bull? will she fall to the dark? questions will be answered! Though it will leave you wanting so much more!!!

This book made me feel desire, alive, giddy, hate, and wanting. I’ve always been patient but Kandi I need some more 😂.

Overall I’m sure you can tell I absolutely loved it, and I recommend it to every single one of you! So what are you waiting for? Hop on the Kandi train and make your way to Kisa and Dolorville!

Six stars
This is the second book in the Trilogy, following Slivered.
First of all, I have to mention a very powerful story of Eve, which falls in the same category of great and powerful, as the prologue of Slivered. It made me love the author and this series even more, if that was even possible.
The author's writing is beautiful, impeccable, consistent and her own. Now it's clear that she found her own voice, her style, and her way of presenting her incredibly original ideas. This book is even more gripping, more intense, more sexy, and more explicit, as well. Definitely not for sensitive reader, however, the non-sensitive readers will fall in love with the series before they even start this book.
It is amazing to read the author's superlogical interpretation of ancient myths, legends, and historically corrupted teachings. The intensity and fast pace of the previous book are increased tenfold, as is the steamy factor. As Kisa and Dolor get closer, their game pushes more and more limits, and the story grips the reader even tighter in its clutches, and as with the previous book's abrupt ending, the author leaves the reader yearning for more, and crying for the next book.
I have also read this book twice and it was even better the second time. The world is getting bigger, we get to know the characters better, especially Kisa, Dolor, Mattheus and Joro. And as is the case with the previous story, not everyone is what they seem. The author masterfully incorporated her ideas with legends and created something incredibly new and original. This is one of the best series out there.

Words can't express how much this series has become my life; when I first read Slivered, I was hooked after the first few chapters, wanting more and more between Kisa and Dolor, anxiously hoping that their connection would transform into something more. Kandi did not disappoint! After reading Convalescent, I realized that nothing will ever compare to this book or series, I am obsessed with Kisa and Dolor's story. We learn more about Dolor's background, we learn more about the side characters (Which, I hope we see more from in another series -wink, wink-), and the connection between Dolor and Kisa only leaves you craving more (Each chapter, leaves, you on the edge of your seat--wanting more and more and wishing you were in the story). After finishing this book, a part of me was, deflated that I finished it quickly, and left me wanting more and not having anything to top it. I love many stories and authors, but only select few can get me obsessed, and Kandi did that with Convalescent. I don't even know how the last book will go, but I know that I will be locked away for a few days devouring it. The way the book ended, I am eager to see what takes place, and hoping Dolor can find a HEA because he deserves it, as does Kisa. Kandi, you have destroyed my life in a good way. I can't think of anything else but this book now and I'm not even able to find something that can compare. Please write more amazing stories! I just want to say if, I could give you ten stars, I could give you ten stars because give does not seem like enough.

Great book

I loved this book. Kisa goes through some hardships letting go of the past and trying to embrace her future. Dolor is a complex character who is never 2 dimensional. This book focused on building their relationship more than anything else which was nice. I can't wait to find out more about the prophecy in the next book.

Wow...I’m at a loss for words! After reading Slivered (Book one of the Slivered Souls Trilogy), I didn’t think it could get any better because that book was amazing! Well, I am here to tell you I was dead wrong! Convalescent is the second book in this series and it blew my mind! You can tell the author has a passion for what she does because every emotion that she puts into this book through the characters you can actually feel it! There are so many emotions in this book that I don’t even know where to begin! The storyline is consistent, I haven’t found any plot holes between the first book and this one. Some of the questions I had while reading book one have been answered, but for every question that was answered I gained two more that will hopefully be answered in book three!!! She got me hooked with Slivered and now she is reeling me in with Convalescent! Job well done! I would give this book 10 stars if I could! If you haven’t read Slivered already go do that NOW! Then go read Convalescent! I would recommend this book to everyone, but I will also warn that there is adult theming in this book, this series is definitely not for younger audiences, people who do not like foul language (there is not a lot, but some), or people who don’t prefer to read books that have sex in them. There are also some BDSM scenes in this series.

Well .... what can I say about convalescent, a lot probably haha, but you will have to read it yourself to see if I’m correct. First off this book is the definition of perfection captured between the pages, from the very start it captures the imagination and takes you on a journey, so that you find yourself no longer reading the story but instead living it. The chemistry, the flow, the down right hotness will leave not just your inhibitions but your emotions in tatters on the floor. This is most definitely a journey you need to take, and one of the most amazing books you will ever have the chance to read. Rarely will you find such an Author that has the ability to write with such brilliance and imagination, that with each word the story comes to life before your very eyes. I look forward to reading the next story as Kandi Vale has just set the bar at an all new level. Don’t believe me, buy the book and see for yourself, the magic awaits you so grab your copy as soon as it’s available you won’t regret it.

Again I'd left a review but I guess I'll leave another one!

A fantastic addition to the Slivered Souls Trilogy. Didn't think that it could get better than the first but it did. The story continues on seamlessly, and the plot thickens, I can't wait to see what Dolor is going to do about Kisa and where the story takes us. Hopefully we see more of Black Eve(this was brilliant).
