Fantastic conclusion. Even though the story is based on Peter Pan, Chanda Hahn kept you guessing until the end. Nonstop action and adventure, plus fleshed out and kick-ass characters make this a series you do not want to miss!

This was the last book in the series and it didn't disappoint. The love triangle between Wendy, Jax and Peter was definitely different. The twist at the end was unexpected. The main good characters became like friends to me as I read. I was kinda cheering for Jax. I was happy with the end though. Great book!

A 5-star ending!
Many of Hahn’s final installments have one too many twists for me... One star rescinded for going a twist too far with the dual person thing. It didn’t work for me, but that’s just me.
Love the lift of hope at the end; promising futures for the good guys, just punishment (or rehabilitation!) for the baddies, etc.

What an incredible book! I loved the whole video game aspect of this book. Even though I knew the plot twist with Alice, it was still just as good as the first time. I do have to say, I feel sorry for Jax and wish it could have worked out dofferently for him. The epilogue was really cool. Amazing ending to an amazing series!

Amazing new take on Peter Pan! Everyone of Chanda Hahn’s books makes me miss out on sleep because I have to force myself to put it down. Can’t wait to see what happens next... maybe a spin off with our new captain? I’ll keep my alerts on so I know when the next book comes out.

A couple of years ago, I discovered Lost Girl on offer on Amazon. It’s the sort of thing that very quickly catches my attention, and I’d recently read another Peter Pan retelling, coincidentally also called Lost Girl, that I’d really enjoyed. I was very impressed with Chanda’s Lost Girl, and really loved the ideas she was playing with in this story. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the second book.

When Lost Boy came out, I tried to tell myself I was enjoying it while I was reading, but really I had a lot of misgivings that didn’t really resolve themselves. I felt that it suffered a lot from second book syndrome and not really knowing where it wanted or needed to go. Still, I wanted to see where Chanda would take the final book and how the story would be resolved. So I settled in for another patient wait.

With Lost Shadow, I had to work hard to suspend my disbelief, but if I didn’t think too much about what I was reading, I enjoyed the story.

It took me a while to get back into Chanda’s style, and to begin with I found myself rolling my eyes at how melodramatic everything seemed to be. To be fair, I’d just read two very polished books by authors with a much more formal style than Chanda’s; I suspect it took me a while to switch gears. This was especially evident at points where new characters are introduced. In my opinion, this is one of Chanda’s weaknesses as an author; I found these scenes to be particularly clunky: she insists on introducing every character with a name (A celebrity gamer, with gold chains and his hat on backwards, who John recognized as Killz4realz, or Killz for short, spoke up) but then I found myself trying to retain the names of minor characters with no defining traits. It’s not worth it.

However, once the story got the wind in its sails again, it wasn’t long before I was devouring it. It’s very easy to get lost in the narrative and start rooting for these characters again. There are some characters, such as Jeremy, who end up being a bit too black and white, thus leaving me not particularly interested in their POV sections, but most are fairly rounded and I enjoyed reading about them.

My main gripe with the story ended up being the game. I quite liked what Chanda did with the idea behind it, but I didn’t believe that others would buy into this. It required suspending my disbelief further than I could. Set in a fantasy or sci-fi society, okay, maybe, but not in ours.

I liked how the final threads of the original Peter Pan were incorporated into the story here, some just a remark in passing, others given more attention. It was just the finishing touch to the trilogy.

Most of the twists were easy to figure out before they were revealed, and the ending was maybe wrapped up in too neat a bow, especially with things related to Jax. Despite this, I was happy with it.

Really, I think I wanted to see more between Peter and Wendy, especially as it’s been a while since I read the first two books, but I’ll take what I was given.

All in all, despite some issues, this trilogy as a whole was a very enjoyable read with some interesting ideas. It was an original play on the story of Peter Pan and a universe that I had great fun exploring.

SPOILER ALERT!!! You really should not read further if you have not read this book or series.. Don't even think about it!!! Anyways, this book was pretty good, but I have to say I wasn't overly thrilled with how the love triangle and the whole ending played out. I think the whole book was concluded a little too quickly in my opinion. I have to say, I ship Jax and Wendy all the way. Don't give me any of that trash with Jax being with Alice in the dream world. I'm not about that life. I don't ship Wendy and Peter AT ALL for this retelling of Peter Pan. I feel like the only sparks I felt were with Jax and not Peter.

Really enjoyed this series! This was quite the climatic conclusion that was building up throughout the first two, yet the epilogue gave you a sense that she may not be finished just yet with this series. I have loved the twist on the classic Peter Pan, definitely a childhood favorite, & enjoyed watching the development of the characters throughout this series! Hopefully another book is in the works!

The series started off fairly strong but went downhill as it continued. This book was defiantly my least favorite. I thought the premise of this book was stupid I did enjoy all of the tie-ins to the original story.

Content:
Sex/Nudity: mild
Profanity/Language: mild (Tink swears, but her words are covered by bells that ring at the same frequency as her voice)
Gore/Violence: moderate (monsters, fighting)
Drugs/Alcohol: moderate (medical experiments)

I read the last volume in the trilogy right after finishing Lost Boy, allowing me to truly compare it with the first two books. I really loved Lost Girl, while the second one was just a disappointment for me. So of course there was a lot of pressure in Lost Shadow when I first picked it up. And it definitely made me feel… things. We pick things up where we left off, as Wendy and the Lost Boys try to plan how to fight Hook and take back their friends he kidnapped. But their home was ruined, Peter is missing, and they have no idea where to go to. It will be a really hard fight, but nothing will prevent Wendy from finding the love of her life.

She would recognize his shadow anywhere now. Her heart would always lead her to him.

Honestly, the plot was pretty good overall, especially after the mess that was Lost Boy. It was very intense from the first page to thee last, and I could never guess what would happen next, so it’s a very good point. The story was mostly original. Most importantly, it was REALLY entertaining. I absolutely ate up the audiobook, even when there were things I didn’t love in it. The entire part with the game was genuinely really fun and original. Sadly, the entire story became an absolute mess during the very last pages. The writing became very choppy, almost cringey. The resolution itself was a huge letdown, especially because the fighting was interesting, but the actual final had me laughing from how ridiculous it was. The last plot twist, about who Alice, was so bad it literally gave me second hand embarassment (but we'll come back to it.)

The whole book is also full of plot holes and various inconsistencies, that were highlighted the close you got to the end. I’ll rapid fire some of them that shocked me the most: how and when did they learn Michael was the one that accidentally hacked into Never Woods? Honestly the entire ending was messy and inconsistent and I was left with more questions than I had for the entire book.

“I thought it was over. I thought that was the end,” she whispered, her throat burning.
“Nonsense, our story isn’t over.” He smiled, brushing her strawberry blonde hair behind her ear. “I wouldn’t let it end like that. And if it did, I would just rewrite it.”

As far as retellings go, I couldn’t find the subtleties that I loved so much in the first book anymore. The only parallels I could find were huge in-your-face quotes, which had the imagery a child could have picked out. There were so many ways to echo Peter Pan, especially with the final fight, but it was the like the author didn’t bother anymore. We’re far from the fun easter eggs I loved to find in Lost Girl.

Peter, as always, is the best character of the book. He’s very true to himself, continuously, even during the times he loses all of his memory. He keeps developing and getting better, only to become a better version of himself by the end. I genuinely loved him so much in that volume.

His shadow drifted down and settled inches in front of her. Wendy held her hand up and he pressed his shadow hand to hers. With their hands clasped, he leaned in close and kissed her lips gently, and through his touch—his hand, his mouth against hers—she heard his words in her mind, clear as a bell.
You are my greatest adventure.

Wendy was slightly more bearable than she was in the second book. I did appreciate her development a LOT during most of the book. She was finally the badass Wendy I love to find in every retelling. But, sadly, her responses to Jax’ advances ruined her characterisation for me. There are multiple instances where she’s shown being jealous or craving Jax, while never developing her actual feelings for him, so it was just annoying and frustrating (especially knowing the plot twist… How could she be jealous?). By the end of the book, I genuinely couldn’t stand her anymore.

But no hate will ever be as strong as the hate I have for Jax himself. I was already on the fence about him in the previous book, but I wanted to believe he was just a misunderstood grey character, and I really thought I would end up falling in love with his complexity. Well, nope, fuck him. He literally abuses of Wendy in the middle of the book, and we’re just supposed to move along. He willingly kisses her knowing she thinks he’s Peter, and laughs at her when she stares horrified as she realizes. Honestly, after that, he was dead to me. And, let’s be real, how the fuck did he fall in love with a girl he only saw sleeping? This does not help his case of him being an abuser.

Never before had he seen lovers as fated to be together as Peter and Wendy. Even as children, amongst the most trying times of their lives at Neverland, they had gravitated to each other, seeking shelter from the other’s company. When apart, they were solemn, quiet. But once together, their matching grins could light up a room, freeing the atmosphere of worry and fear, their laughter and spontaneous giggles drawing crowds of kids. They were two halves of one soul.

The romance between Alice and Jax is the truly the one element I hated the most in the entire trilogy. He literally has not spoken to her once, and he’s so madly in love with her he compares their love to Peter and Wendy’s romance, even though these two are literally soulmates from their childhood. It was especially frustrating knowing this entire “relationship” between the abuser boy and the comatose girl didn't serve ANY purpose in the plot. But nothing will be worse than the romantic tension between Wendy and Jax. None of it had any relevance to the plot, beside being really cringey and just infuriating. I was really looking forward to their friendship, but it got ruined by their attraction to each other, because apparently a boy and a girl of the same age can’t be in the vincinity of each other without developing feelings. The resolution of all these relationships was very unsatisfying and I hated it all. I genuinely cannot talk about the ending without spoiling it, but if you read it, you KNOW.

Sadly, the rest of the trilogy completely ruined Lost Girl for me, when it came really close to being a 5 stars. The very ending of this final book had me rolling my eyes so hard I forgot completely about how sweet and cute Peter and Wendy’s romance originally was. Another Peter Pan retellings down to the disappointment pile.

3.75 stars — This whole series was so hard to review, because there were things I absolutely ADORED about each installment, like 5 stars awesome! And then there were things that just bugged me and left me confused and didn’t fit. Basically it had the potential to be an absolute favourite, but it just fell short by a wee bit.

Honestly, the imagination it takes to think up the twists and turns of turning Peter Pan into this strange urban fantasy/almost sci-fi twist just amazes me. I loved how all the different characters fit, the way the special abilities manifested, the way little bits of the original tale fit into this new version. The shadow stuff with Wendy was probably my favourite part. I really ended up enjoying the way that all played out. I saw some twists coming, but not others. It wasn’t perfect by any means, there were parts that left me going “huh?”, but in general it was just fun!

I also enjoyed the overarching plot lead up to what was taking place on Neverland. I didn’t see it coming, and it was well done (if a bit over the top at times). It made for some intense action/suspense moments, and a chance to see so many different characters come into their own and help out overall.

I was both happy and unsatisfied with Jax’s story. It was like, it was ALMOST what I needed, but something was missing to truly make it amazing. I kind of felt sorry for him in the end, and I’m not entirely sure I understand how the future plays out there.

Peter was still pretty adorable, and I felt like his character was probably the most consistent. He got into trouble, had a carefree sense about him, always adding in his sarcastic quips, but you could feel the weight of responsibility on his shoulders too.

And Tink was still amazeballs. Her character was so Tink, I can’t even. And her and John were so cute together. Yeah, honestly, so many of the secondary characters just added a little bit of fun and heart to the story (Tootles, Michael, Ditto, even Leroy and Wu Zan). I’m on the fence with the villains though. They weren’t three dimensional, they were pretty much caricatures of villains. And it annoyed me how Wendy didn’t see through Jeremy. I don’t feel like enough effort was put into helping us understand Hook and Jeremy’s motivations, so I’m uncertain how to feel about the ending.

I’m a character driven reader, and I felt like a lot of the characters reactions were so volatile (Wendy in particular), even given they were teenagers, it still just didn’t feel authentic. Bummer.

All in all, the series was definitely fun, even if flawed. I’d definitely recommend it, just with reservations.

How much is entertainment worth? Apparently to Captian Hook and the billionaires backing him up it is worth the lives of countless children and teenagers. This final installment in the Lost saga by Chanda Hahn ends in an ultimate gaming battle (like the ones you might see on the screen as you or your brothers and/or friends play various war themed video games only this one has live players) This book is captivating it kept me engaged the whole time! It is the climax of the whole series. It starts intense, Peter is already gone and the Lost boys (and girls) are trying to regroup and find a way to survive and save their lost comrades. Meanwhile the red skulls are finishing their preparations to deliver the product of their greed that caused a tangled web of death and destruction. It all comes to a head when Tink helps the lost boys locate the nearly invisible island of Neverland, the place where it all began. An epic live battle between genetically mutated teenagers and monsters called morphlings awaits. The lost boys must now go back to face their haunting memories from their childhood in order to stop the Redskulls and defeat Captian Hook for good. During the battle Wendy struggles to find a way to protect Peter and the others. She soon learns the power to protect all that she holds dear, lies within herself. I love how this cleaver series ties back to a beloved story from many of our childhoods while introducing thought provoking conflicts worthy of young adult readers.

Meh. This one was not as good as the previous two books, and was kind of a messily and lazily written ending.

A lot of things were simply out of pocket and really didn’t make any sense. I was really disappointed how Chanda Hahn simply made Alice part of Wendy instead of actually writing a backstory, and it was also simply sad for Jax.

I also feel like the summary was a little misleading: “stuck as a shadow, Peter’s body grows a little weaker each time it regenerates.” However, he really did not spend much time as a shadow, Whig was confusing. I also think that the way that he died would have been good, if only the cheesy “I believe” wasn’t used to bring him back. Would have been more interesting to see Peter simply die and Wendy end up with Jax instead.

The entire point of the morphlings was also negated by Wendy being the one who created them. Like, okay, so what did all your friends die for? And I though the morphlings existed before Wendy really controlled her powers, so it was another lazy ending.

I did like the idea that Jeremy became the new Hook, and I liked how they tied in the crocodile chasing Hook in the shadow realm. Those felt like appropriate endings for both characters, and I did like how the story was left a little open.

However, I don’t think I will be rereading this series, the last two books were meh, and the last one was just lazy and a bit cringey. Not really worth the time.

WOW.

WHAT AN ENDING!!!

I must confess, when I came across this series, I thought it was childish with the cover but I was so wrong. I'm so stinkin happy I picked this series up because it was so good!!

First of all, this series was an emotional roller coaster for me. And honestly, this series gave me if 'Jumanji' and 'Stranger Things' had a baby vibe. I LOVE 'Jumanji' and 'Stranger Things,' blending both concepts is beyond intelligent in Chanda Hahn's unique way is mind-blowing.

The love triangle between Jax, Peter, and Wendy was to die for!! Seriously, this series has the potential to be a hit if it's on Netflix.

Now, how everything ended with EVERY character made me happy. 'Lost Shadow' by Chanda Hahn brought a smile to my face throughout the series. Seriously, you can't tell me you wouldn't give your life to these characters: Doc. Barrie, Tink, Wendy, Wendy's brother, Jax, the Red Skulls (this is debatable), Captain Hook, etc.

Just wow.

Now, I love how Chanda Hahn included Jax love life, even though he had a thing for Wendy. How he's with Alice in the dream world is fantastic but, we all know he should be with Wendy NOT Alice. And I was shocked who became the new Captain Hook, seriously mind-blowing!!

5 STARS ALL THE WAY!!

So first of I will say I love this series so much because I am a huge Peter Pan fan since i was little. That is who will enjoy this series the most because the author does such an amazing job weaving easter eggs from the original Peter Pan into her story and dialogue. I gave the first two books in this series 5 stars, but I will say I didn't enjoy this one as much as the first two for some reason. I think maybe the added video game aspect was just too much for me. I felt when the end game that the first two had built towards was finally revealed, it was a little underwhelming. I literally said, wait is that really it?? It felt like too much was added to the story in which so much was already going on and it seemed really out of left field and out of place. I also felt some of the humor dialogue was a little too cheesy for my liking. Overall though, I loved the love triangle and how it worked out that everyone found their happy ending. I also love that it was left open in the end for the story to possibly one day continue. I think anyone who is a fan of Disney, Peter Pan, or just really out there whimsical fantasies will enjoy it.

I’ve love every book of Chanda’s that I’ve had the opportunity to read. Her characters are relatable and the story sucks you in and won’t let you go until the last page. If this is your first series of hers, try any of the others and find yourself equally pulled in to the amazing worlds she creates.
Lost Shadow is the third and final chapter in the Peter Pan-esque trilogy. It opens with Wendy and the remaining lost boys escaping with Tink and the shadow of Peter. They’re desperate to find a safe haven after Hook and the Red Skulls destroyed Neverwood. When some old friends, and foes, reappear Wendy and Peter find themselves back the one place they never wanted to be again...Neverland.
This book did an amazing job at tying up so many of the loose ends that the second book left. Each of the characters truly comes into themselves and their abilities. Most importantly, to me mostly, there’s a happy(ish) ending for Jax and his Alice.
I’m left with the feeling we maybe haven’t seen the last of these characters or Neverland just yet 😉

Wow! The third installment of the Neverwood Chronicles has ended and it contained all the feels. The writing was phenominal, the pacing was fast and unexpected, and the ending, while neat and tidy, was a beautiful ending to the trilogy. The struggles and love that permeated this book made for a thrilling journey. What started as insta-love (for reasons that became clear as the story unfolded), it was so easy to root for Wendy and Peter. Jax couldn't compete with Peter and their struggles to survive and make it back to each other definitely grabbed some heart strings.

As with the other two, the throwbacks to the original story made me smile as Chanda wove the time old story we love with a new adventure just as enjoyable. Those little touches just made all the creative license so much more brilliant, in my opinion.

But it's so sad this story ended! The characters were unforgettable and seemed like old friends after three books. This third book delivered on everything it promised. It was clean, witty, and exciting and that is so hard to find in fairytale retellings. Hopefully there are more to come!

this plot was absolutely amazing! a brilliant spin off of peter pan that left you guessing until the end. however the reason it is only three stars is because the entire series was amazing, but felt ruined by the ending. peter and wendy are amazing together, but i couldn’t help feeling jax deserved a little better of an ending after sacrificing everything for wendy, the lost boys and alice than what he got. which was wendy letting him live with a bunch of dead people for a few hours, to spend time with the part of her soul that loves him, while she goes off and dates peter. not hating on wendy and peter, but jax deserved something better or at least real! it was a huge let down after the entire series was spent building up to that moment of what would happen when alice was freed and what would happen with jax.

I felt that this was a satisfying conclusion to the trilogy! This time I'm not sure that I saw the twist "coming," but I was a little bit proud to say "a-ha I knew it!" Overall this book, along with the other two in the series, was fun to read, interesting and engaging, thoughtful and inspiring, and just overall worth the time. There may have been a few things, as I was going through it that struck me as odd or out of place or "is now really the time to address the fact that they are having these feelings?" but they were minor blips on my radar and not set-the-book-down-and-walk-away worthy. All in all, worth the time and money.
I'd recommend reading this book to people who:
Read the first two and liked them,
Enjoy a new twist on an old story,
Enjoy young adult literature.

Pretty good, maybe not QUITE a 4...more of a 3.5/3.75. I was a little disappointed at how stupid Wendy was being, pretty much most of the book. It was kind of a shocker that “Alice” ended up being Wendy’s shadow...pretty surprising and unexpected for me. I anticipated that going in another direction...I totally thought she was going to end up being Alice (in Wonderland). It makes me a little sad for Jax, since he’s going to have to settle for a shadow of a person. Glad they mostly all made it to the end and that Wendy FINALLY fully understood and figured out her powers. The Jeremey escape kinda pissed me off, but it leaves the door open for future stories, so I guess I’ll accept it lol.

This was a brilliant ending to a fabulous story. I've said before that I'm looking forward to rereading it, and that still stands. It was an absolutely unbelievable retelling of Peter Pan.

My favorite parts were 1) how the stories of John and Michael unfolded. So often Wendy's brothers are minor characters, but in this book, they were essential characters. They are very nearly my favorite characters. And 2) Wendy and Peter. Wendy is so self-sufficient/constantly getting herself into trouble. And Peter comes to the rescue. But she actually rescues him while getting them both into trouble at the same time. It was genius.

My beef was actually similar to the third movie of the Matrix. This was all because of a video game? It all felt a bit anti-climactic, although that didn't make the stakes any less high. Also, I totally predicted everything with Alice. I did cry at the end though, regardless of all that. Reality is tough. But it will be okay. Everything will be okay.

If you like Peter Pan or fairy tale retellings, read this trilogy. It's amazing. I am already looking forward to reading it again.

Overall I rate the book a 2.5, it is definitely not something I would normally read but my mom said I might like it so here we go.

What I didn’t like about the book was it was so hard to follow and half the time I didn’t know what was happening. Also I feel like the two main characters, Peter and Wendy, were super inconsistent and I couldn’t tell what mood they where in half the time. I also feel like the book was very poorly written, and the author could’ve spent a lot more time perfecting the book.

Although it is hard to follow, and definitely wasn’t written very well, I still give this book a 2.5 because the story was interesting and I never knew what was going to happen next. So that is one positive in a sea of negatives.

Wow ok this conclusion to the series was such an awesome ride. Plot twist were coming out at me like crazy but were not overwhelming and made it so much clear as the end. I especially like the fact that the ending although maybe not 100% HEA (well at least on some characters sides) there will was some sort of HEA. Also the last part that leaves it open if Chandra Hahn decides to come back and make more adventures but not enough that you feel completely great with the ending. Well Done!!! BTW if you cannot devote time to entire series you might want to wait because this is a pure binge listen

After Peter pans, he wakes up with no memories and back under Hook's control. Peter must figure out who he is and how to save The Lost Boys.
Wendy will stop at nothing to free Peter and those captured from Neverwood. Their connection is so powerful that even as Peter pans, his shadow stays with Wendy and helps guide her.
In this book we finally learn why the kids have been captured and controlled. The truth about Alice is finally revealed and was something I never anticipated. Chanda leaves no question unanswered. I love how she includes all the pieces from the original story.
If you have read the other books by this author, this one will definitely not disappoint!
