He might have saved me, but now he wants to keep me.
One minute I’m falling down a slope in the mountains of North Carolina. The next, I’m waking up in a giant lumberjack’s bed. The goliath of a man wants me to stay until I’m better.
But as long as I’m under his roof, he demands obedience. I’ve never known anyone so fiercely protective of me, even as he bends me to his will. Levi’s an assertive man who knows how to use his powerful body to get what he wants. And he wants to be in control.
I’m surprised to discover that might be what I want too.
Levi knows the ropes, and I can only hope he’ll use them to tie me down.
LEVI:
He’s in my territory now, and that makes him mine.
This stretch of the Smoky Mountains belongs to me. Out here on my own, I control it all from my mountainside cabin all the way down to the creek. I don’t want company, and I’ve never cared about romance. But my body craves a certain release now and then.
When a city boy with a face like a marble statue takes a hard fall right in front of me, I take him to my cabin to recover. But once he wakes up, I find I can’t resist him.
I’ve never been with a man, but it doesn’t make any difference. I know what I want: Jake, in my bed, now.
He needs a strong hand to guide him. If he wants to remain here while he recovers from his fall, he’ll have to follow my rules and obey my commands.
And if he does as I say, I might just let him stay.
Note to readers: This is an extra spicy MM romance, heat level 10. Readers can expect several steamy scenes that will leave you breathless.
First off, a caution... I do NOT recommend reading this book in a public place. It may be fine for the women... but if you are a gay male there are numerous instances where doing so will lead to a very awkward state. Yes, this book is just that HOT! I will admit that since the whole D/s things is not something I am much into I went into this book with doubts. I should have know better... the author did an incredible job of making every love scene an act of true connection between the two men. This story of two men finding each other and realizing that each held the key to exactly what the other was looking for and needing just blew me away. I loved grumpy, sexy as hell mountain man scientist Levi... I loved how the author took the time to fully develop both Levi and Jake till they felt so real that it felt like I was living it with them. I loved how Jake, once he realized what he wanted and needed embraced it, holding back nothing. This book was intense, scorching hot and such a joy to read! P.S. I also loved how the author managed to make even the first time Jake gives Levi a BJ feel like they were already making love...
It was one of those romances that has a fairly unlikely setup, but if you can get past that, it’s a good enough story with strong enough characters to keep it going. Both of the main characters are believable, but as is often the case, just a little too good to be true unless you can turn off all your "disbeliefs" and go for the "made for each other" line. The setting is isolated for most of the story so there aren’t really any other characters aside from occasional people who appear for only one chapter. I have to admit that I’m a sucker for dominant, protective, and sexy Doms who take ownership over their submissives ...so Levi became my hero and Jake was a good character for his role in the story but some things about him...the job that was supposed to be waiting for him in Boston when the hike was over...why he didn't want to talk about his former teaching career or much of any other aspects of his life, especially when his and Jakes relationship became more than just friends...that didn't make much sense. Good enough story and characters for 4 stars.
This book was a real disappointment for me. If you’re looking for a hot erotic story then keep looking. The language was so flowery that it felt like the author was sitting with a thesaurus adding adjectives to his sentences. Although there was some light D/S action, it was more of a love story.
Hiking the Appalachian Trail has a new meaning for Jake & Levi. I read this book based on hot reviews. For me, it was sexy but overly so. There are things about this story that bothered me. Maybe I want a little more story with my sexy time. Again, to me, it was mostly about sex. The storyline was a bit erratic. If Jake was hurt, he didn’t show it at all. It was as if the author forgot that Jake was injured. What happened to his gear....halfway through the story it magically appears. Also for a first-timer, Levi is very experienced...a bit odd. I know some might think these are minor issues but it makes the story plausible and actually sexier. This was an okay read. If you’re looking for more sexy time and less story, then this ebook is for you.
Very hot characters, but there were some pretty big holes in the plot
I liked both Levi and Jake and I thought that their time together in Red Pine was very hot.
Unfortunately I didn't really buy a lot of the supporting details of their story which made this be just an ok book, for me. The Apalacian Trail takes about 6 months to hike and I imagine that it would probably have taken Jake longer. Because of that, I don’t believe that he had a job waiting for him back in Boston, so I don’t quite understand what tied him to that place.
For all of the talk about how hardworking Levi was, I didn’t really see much evidence of it in the book since he seemed to only work for a few hours each morning and then spend the rest of the day doing other things. I also didn’t understand why Levi seemed to have no interest in talking about his work, or teaching Jake about it.
This book was one where even though the characters’ jobs felt very detached from reality, the fantasy of having Levi save Jake and seeing them develop a relationship was very hot and great to read. I just wish that the supporting details of the plot were stonger than they were.
4.5 stars. This book leans more on the Dom/sub relationship of Jake and Levi with a bit of bondage. Levi has been a loner for a long time and I like watching him open himself up to Jake. Jake has been existing without really living his life. He naturally falls into being submissive to Levi and finds his place. Sweet ending.
3.5-4 stars...I gotta say I liked it..It was a bit different...It was sweet and very sexy and nothing what I expected...LOL...It's not really a D/s book in the more true sense of what I think when I see the word submissive...
This ended up just being an okay read for me. It had a really strong start, but then it kind of just dragged on a bit. I did like the characters and the HEA ending. Plus, the spicy scenes were really good. Was just kind of expecting a darker romance read based on the summary.
2,5* porque se deja leer, pero nada más. Es tan sumamente irreal todo lo que pasa entre ellos que no acabas de conectar con nada porque no te crees lo que está pasando
Not a bad read but I found myself skimming it more than actually reading it. I finished it but it’s not something I will read again or even remember the names of the MCs in a couple of days.
OMG I loved Jake and Levi! This was my first book I have read from Jason Collins and loved the easy writing style and how the story flowed. When Levi rescues Jake from the creek near his cabin in the woods, never did he imagine he was rescuing his soul mate, especially as he had never been with a man before. He kept himself to himself living in isolation in the woods, his only contact being some friends in the small town an odd city hikers in need of help. Jake was one of these hikers but Levi soon discovers that he so much more than that as their attraction to each other quickly becomes obvious. Jake is in awe of this huge bear of a man, but what will happen when it's time for him to leave and carry on his hike? Over the next few days their feelings grow though neither man wants to admit it and then Jake has to rescue Levi from the flooded creek and things will never be the same again...
I loved these characters and their story and I also loved how the surrounding woods were described as I could totally put myself in that place at that time. The story was not totally what I was expecting from the title but that doesn't matter as it was a wonderful easy book to read with some very hot scenes between the two men. I will definitely be back to read more from this author.
Jake is feeling a bit low and feels he needs to get away to prove that he can do something with himself. Silly city boy with no experience decides to hike part of the Appalachian trail. Luckily for him after falling and hurting himself, the gorgeous Levi finds and rescues him.
Levi has lived in the woods by himself because he prefers solitude and nature. When he finds Jake, he knows he can't leave him or send him back off on the trail injured, so he brings him to his home and takes care of him. Over the course of a week, Jake and Levi get to know each other very well, and they both find that the other person brings a calmness to them that they never experienced before. Although they acknowledge how fast it happens, both men know after that week that they don't want to be apart anymore.
Levi and Jake were super sweet. I loved watching both of them come out of their comfort zones in many ways. They really were well matched. Along with the sweetness, of course, and some super hot hot hot scenes. Levi takes total control in the bedroom, and Jake is the perfect submissive for him. What I liked most about the dominance and submission in this book, is that there was a true connection during all of the scenes. None of it was just dominance for the sake of dominance or as a boring point plot. There was true pleasure and emotional connection along with the act itself, and that made the book even that much more enjoyable. This was well written, and I loved the characters and story.
I am voluntarily reviewing an ARC provided by the author
This is my first book by Jason Collins and it definitely won't be the last...I loved Levi and Jake...a lot....Levi hasn't been with a man before but damn he certainly knows how to treat one...They get together pretty damn quick but that's never bothered me I can take it either way....Jake loved the way Levi was with him...Submissive to his core...An amazing read and easy too which is always a plus sometimes...A definite re-read x
i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the story about Jake and Levi. Jake is an accountant and he has recently been dumped by his boyfriend and decides to hike the Appalachian Trail. Jake is unprepared for the hike and he falls and injures himself. Levi sees Jake and rescues him and takes Jake back to his cabin. Jake wakes up to find a huge mountain man with him and he finds him very attractive. Levi tells Jake he has to stay until his injuries heal and that he belongs to him while he is there. Jake agrees and when Levi kisses him, he knows he will give up all control to Levi. They begin a relationship and Levi dominates Jake and Jake loves it, but they know Jake is only there until he heals. i really loved their story and their instant connection. Levi was never with a man before and i love how he doesn't want to label himself and how he knows what he wants and just goes for it. I think Jake was good for Levi and showed him how lonely he was. Levi was good for Jake because he made him feel like he was worthy of love. they had an amazing connection and plenty of heat. Good one.
🍁Jake, are you sure you want to get back on The Trail?🍂😜 November 5, 2018 Format: Kindle Edition 4 and a bit 🌟 stars. 🔥 Hot, 🔥 hot, 🔥hot MM adventure for Jake and Levi in the wild, wild 🌲woods of North Carolina. For the reader who's fantasized about finding their perfect, intense, mountain man in the woods! The meet-cute and the whole hiking the Appalachian trail and stumbling upon a buff forest-protecting giant plot was out of the ordinary and a great setup for the passion and romance. The domination theme was not too over the top for my taste, but the frequent steamy scenes eventually felt a bit repetitive.
Some good danger and tension brought through dealing with the terrain, the elements, and mountain man Levi's snarky boss. I liked the way the author gave tenderfoot submissive Jake a chance to prove the hero and how Collins resolved the issue of their conflicting lifestyles and how that would affect any possible future for the couple.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
In order to take stock of his life, city boy Jake decides to take a trek along the Appalachian Way. All decked out in his stylish hiking gear he takes a misstep and falls. As he’s passing out the last thing he sees is rough and sexy, Levi. Bruised and battered, Jake needs time to recover from his wounds. What a way to recover! In Levi’s bed.
The author does a brilliant job of developing the plot and characters as Jake and Levi find what they are looking for in each other. Jake is looking for himself in the forest and Levi has lost himself in the forest. When they find each other the book combusts as the author takes the heat up a few notches. We get a little D/s and bondage thrown in and it all works perfectly. This is my fave book from this author. More please!
This is a lovely low angst, dominant-submissive book, but set not in a club in some city, but out in the countryside far away from the city slickers. When Jake slips and falls whilst on a trail, he doesn't expect his rescuer to be the reserved, domineering Levi, who spends much of his time alone in his beloved wildness, but there is some spark between them right from the beginning and as they grow in knowledge and love over a few days, they realise that a chance encounter has led them to so much more. Beautifully written, both characters are easy to like and understand and when all fell right at the end, it didn't feel forced, but a natural ending to the journey.
So I was on a roll of reading romance/erotic fiction with a bit of the ol' BSDM flavor that's all the rage since 50 Shades (which I have not read and have no intention of because I have heard more than enough about the quality of the writing). I also love me some good M/M romance so hey... it popped up in my recommended books on Amazon and I gave it a whirl. It was ok. A little bland, and not nearly the power play I expected. In fact, I think the guy only got tied up once... maybe twice? Not enough to feel my burgeoning shibari obsession anyway. The writing was decent and it was a fun read. I just was expecting something, maybe a little more Sierra Simone. This felt kind of bland in comparison.
This story grabbed me from the start and kept my interest to the end. Levi and Jake are so different in every way that it was originally hard to see them together. Yet as the story unfolds I could see how they complimented each other. It sure pointed out how alone someone can feel whether out in the wilderness or in the middle of a big city. I think the author did a great job at show the softer side of Levi and the vulnerable side of Jake. As both try to keep their distance it is interesting to see them cave to what appears beyond either of their control. The ending was not what I expected yet I feel it brought the story to a satisfying conclusion.
Jake was the little ray of sunshine Levi needed in his dark and stormy life. Jake's life was in a rut and after getting out of a bad relationship he decided to prove to himself and everyone around him he was competent enough to brave the wilderness. One disastrous mistake led to the best thing in his life. Levi loved the great outdoors and protecting nature, he also loved his solitude until Jake tumbled into his life. I loved how Jake was willing to listen to and learn from Levi all he needed to know about the wilderness, even though he was scared of change.
'I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily reviewed it.'
Jake is on a mission to prove something to himself, trek alone through the mountains to find his place in the world. On the hamster wheel with work and his non existent love life, he is looking to discover the real Jake. Taking a fall down a steep creek and knocking himself out didn't fall in with his plans. Levi is a man who is happy with his solitude and living in the woods in a cabin with no one to both him works so well, until he finds someone laid in the bottom of the creek. Can these two push through the countless difficultculties, and build something together?
His Submissive, a story of two men (Levi & Jake) who are looking to find out what is missing in their lives and find a way into each other’s arms and make a permanent commitment to each other.
This was a great story, with characters that like in real life are flawed by life and by their own humanity, very steamy moments and hot love making scenes between Levi and Jake, make this a story for those who enjoy there love stories with spice and steam!
Jason Collins is my go-to author for romantic escapism into stories of wonder, passion and steamy romance. His Submissive, I enjoyed this passionate story and recommend it to others looking for the same.
I’m a sucker for dominant, protective, and sexy Doms who take ownership over their submissives. Levi is a delicious hot, outdoorsy, Dom and Jake is his perfect sub. Levi rescues Jake and asserts his dominance over him, but Jake craves to obey just as much as Levi demands the obedience. They are the perfect for each other and the chemistry between them is electric.
Overall Rating: 4.25 Stars. The writing is great and the plot line was sweet, steamy, and delicious. I loved the rescue theme with the D/s elements.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. It's almost to cheese, loving and adorable to stand reading, but it's very impressive and heartwarming to keep track of the blooming relationship between Jake and Levi. And as it turns out it only takes very little to make a living together though originally worlds were between them - logistically. I like Jasons writing style very much because it's easy to keep up...
I have read more than a few Jason Collins books and was excited to read another. His submissive definitely didn't let me down, I loved it. In Jason Collins style this was a beautiful love story, had a great plot, and was a little steamer than his other books but really good.
Jake is trying to find himself and ends up finding so much more. Rescued by a biologist, Levi, in the middle for the woods turn out to be what they are both looking for, just didn't know it.
