This is an excellent history of the rather strange cult that existed in the Fountaingrove area of Santa Rosa, CA. It covers the cult founder's beliefs well and how he treated people. Was he a true believer or a charlatan. The answer is yes to both. It covers the emerging wine industry that was started at Fountaingrove very well. The only lacking is that there was not enough biographical information on Harris, the cult leader but that is not the author's fault. He was a very private man surrounded by loyalists and true believers. There was only a limited run of this book so you may have to do a interlibrary loan from Sonoma State or the Sonoma County library to get a copy to read.

I live in Fountaingrove, so I found this thorough, historical account of Thomas Lake Harris and his followers fascinating.
