Because I stumbled upon Jennifer's story first, I found myself captivated by The O'Malley Chronicles Volume I and II, to get the rest of the family's story. This group of self appointed orphans who formed their own family, grow up to take on the world. Each character has a real life story to capture your heart and walk with them through their greatest fears and deepest challenges. In fact, the story of one of the last sisters introduced has challenged me to relook at my own attitude toward charity and God's challenge to each of us with what we are blessed. Thank you Dee Henderson, for the godly stories of high moral character, balance, and following God in our daily lives. It is refreshing to be able to find righteous inspirational Christian fiction like these books

This anthology contains the last three books of the O'Malley series.
Protector: This fourth book of the O'Malley Chronicles follows Jack. The entire series is Christian romantic suspense, which means there isn't much of a slow-down until the danger is resolved.

Jack is a firefighter. His love interest was a firefighter, but a particular fire set in a nursing home resulted in burns and partial hearing loss for Cassie. There is a lot in here about Gage (reporter), Cole (arson investigator and Rachel (an O'Malley sibling); her story comes in the next book.

Someone is deliberately targeting Jack's shift at the fire station. He has certain trademarks and is escalating in order to get his message across. The reader knows that it is because of the person's divorce; the fact that Chicago closed some firehouses down as well as the budget constraints placed on the departments. The person believes that by drawing attention through the fires, the problems he sees will be rectified.

Cole is a Christian; Cassie is a Christian; and now four of Jack's siblings are Christians. Jack is not and his questions are more along the lines of whether God can protect his siblings or those he cares for as well as he can. It is not until a near-death experience that Jack believes; it is also the time when the perpetrator is revealed and it's not a very happy ending. Semi-relieving, but not happy. The author closers to include some of Rachel's story in this book as well, pre-conversion. We see that she is interested in Cole, and he is interested as well.

Jennifer has a relapse of the cancer and goes back to the hospital.

Healer: This fifth book of the O'Malley Chronicles follows Rachel. The entire series is Christian romantic suspense, which means there isn't much of a slow-down until the danger is resolved.

Rachel is a trauma psychologist, working in disaster areas and with kids who have had traumatic experiences. The book begins with the reader witnessing a murder, but not knowing who killed the woman. The scene shifts to Rachel and the local fire department including Cole and Jack when a river floods; the reader finds out that between the end of Jack's book The Protector and the beginning of this book, that Rachel has also chosen to believe. The backdrop of evacuating flood victims and leaving houses is when the crime scene is located, by Lisa. Deductions take the investigators to another victim, one who had Rachel's card, found among the evidence from the crime scene.

Jennifer is released from the hospital and comes to be with her family in Chicago. During a shopping trip with Jennifer, Kate, Rachel and Lisa are at the school to meet one of Rachel's clients when they are witnessing an ongoing school shooting. Jennifer is granted the energy to help with the victims so that they can be treated further in the hospital rather than dying. Sadly, the kids responsible for the shooting were killed, and a third victim is found. Two of Rachel's clients were friends of those who were killed; and there's the possibility that one of them has a gun which has not been found yet.

Everyone except Kate is let in on a "family arranged 'elopement' wedding - So Kate and Dave, along with Lisa and Quinn, get married in a double ceremony. About a month passes between chapters for the honeymoon and to get settled back in.

The gun is found; Jennifer dies, which sends Stephen (sixth book subject) away from Chicago to find a place where he won't have to deal with death on a daily basis, which he has been doing as a paramedic.

Rescuer:This sixth and last book of the O'Malley Chronicles follows Stephen. The entire series is Christian romantic suspense, which means there isn't much of a slow-down until the danger is resolved, though this book seemed to go slower than the others with some time jumps.

Five years before the events in this book, Steven and Meghan were co-workers in Chicago. An accident with a person involved in a jewelry theft ring left Meghan blind.

The book begins with Stephen leaving after Jennifer's funeral. He's running from his grief (his Christian brothers and sisters think he's running from God too). Meghan requests a ride back home and he gives it. Six months pass. Christmas time, he gets a Bible and Jennifer's journal from Tom. He starts reading the Bible because he's not quite ready to hear Jennifer's voice again.

A couple months pass, Marcus comes to get Stephen because Kate is pregnant. Kate, being pregnant, moves into robbery and fraud. Stephen comes back to the Chicago area and buys a place in Silverton (Meghan's home town) from Neil, the local jewelry store owner. Meghan's place, his place, and the jewelry store are being watched and sometimes broken into by members of the jewelry theft ring. Stephen alerts Kate to the situation.

Stephen works through his reservations about Jesus, opening the door for him and Meghan to think about a relationship.

For the jewel thieves, the main problem is the recovery of valuable pieces. One of the people they stole from was a mob boss.......

The thieves are eventually discovered. The threat is abated, and Stephen plans to be a very doting uncle, but not without some major danger both from the thieves and from nature to the characters.

I much preferred this book's example of presenting the Gospel without pushing.

This series has a set of "foster siblings" who create their own family and each one is the center of a story line... with the others woven throughout. Good character development and plots with elements of the past worked out in relationships and various crises. They seem too good to be true but make for pleasant reading.

Finished reading the O'Malley series and could not put it down until the very end. Great stories highlighting reasons why people struggle to come to know God and how they overcome their reservations.

Highly recommend this author. A nice blending of character development, faith journeys, mystery. Easy reading but with just enough thought provoking issues to make you think a little and reflect on what you might do In a similar situation.

I like Jack and Stephen's stories, but Rachel's was just off, so this only gets a three, as opposed to volume one.

I loved the vol. 2 of the series. I really enjoyed The Protector best. I loved Jack's character. He was funny and then again he was very serious when it came to the people he loved.
