Author's note: This book is meant to be read after books 1-6 in The Royals series.
The king and queen of Latvala are pitted against the most dangerous adversary they've ever faced: mother nature. Sander must make his way back across the frozen hinterlands to Chey, fighting against whiteouts, frigid temperatures, and possible traitors in their camp. Danger lurks around every corner.
Chey battles social unrest, mutiny and anarchy as she struggles to keep Kallaster castle in working order during Sander's absence. When she finds herself and her children thrust blindly into a blizzard, she looks to the ancient sovereigns of Latvala for help.
Find out whether the king reunites with his queen or whether both succumb to the ravages of winter in book 7 of the Royals series.
Born and raised in Corona California, Danielle now resides in Texas with her husband and two sons. She has been writing for as long as she can remember, penning works in a number of genres. To date, she has published 49 novels and nine short stories. Her interests vary wildly: reading, traveling, photography, graphic art and baking, among others.
I have truly enjoyed this 7 book journey with Sander and Chey. I was disappointed this was the last one and I did get teary reading the epilogue.
These two have just been through thick and thin to be together, to strengthen their country and now we find them not fighting against an enemy but against mother nature.
at one point in this book I had to walk away and take a breather - I got to the point were enough was enough and I simply wanted Sander and Chey to have a nice life together. no more death threats no more danger just warm nights by a fire.
Both characters of Sander and Chey are well written and once invested past the first couple of books you grow to love them and their family.
This was a bitter sweet series conclusion for me - well worth the read but sad to say goodbye to the King and Queen of Latvala. Maybe one day we can read about the young princes antics.
I am writing this review for each of the books in this series that I’ve read as they were all exceptionally excellent. If you like one you’ll like the rest. I got the first book for free and had no intention of reading more. But after finishing the first I only thought about the world Bourdon created and I felt compelled to get and read the rest. A decision I do not regret after reading the first 7.
I have enjoyed all of these books immensely. The characters are richly drawn and complex. The plots are engaging and plausible. The detailed descriptions of the clothing are amusing. I wish an editor would help this author with her adverbs and subject-object agreement, though. It throws me out of the story when I find myself mentally editing the grammar. Still, very much worth reading.
I enjoyed this book, as I have all the others, but I am glad to hopefully have all the 'family enemies' finished and done with - would love to hear how M & A finally got married; they were left in their book as 'dating' and end up married in this one.
Another wonderful book in this series. Couldn't put it down till the end. Danielle never disappoints. Sorry to see this wonderful series end. The epilogue does end the series.
Did I miss a .5 somewhere? When the heck did Mattias get married?!
Anyways, on to this installment. The drama never ceases! Urmas..wow, didn't think you would have done that, idiot.
The disrespect Chey and Sander take from advisors, other Kings (the last book) and people in general is crazy. These people would surely be dead if it were medieval times. Advisors in general need to be taken down a peg.
The old Queen had mad issues and is just plain evil.
Elias is the shit?! King from birth!
I was nervous reading this book, wouldn't want to be royalty for anything in the world, to much time would be spent on watching my back, I would have a nervous breakdown and just start beheading people like Henry VIII. Lol
Of all of the Latvala books, this one was the book that just about did me in emotionally!!! There were not enough tissue in my house to get me through this book. I loved the strength of all the characters and the relationship with one another. I am hoping the sneak peek at the end of the book is a sign that there is more to come for this family?!?!?
I love this series, so I was very disappointed in the latest book of the Royal Series by Danielle Bourdon. This book, Sander, the King of Latvala and his American Queen Chey take on Mother Nature and below freezing bitterly cold blizzards that overtake the kingdom and the entire country of Latvala. Sander, his two brothers Mattias, Gunnar, and their close friend Leander are somewhere in another part of the country Latvala, separated from his Queen and children as the men are bringing food and supplies to the families who live in the mountains, farms, and outer lands of the kingdom. At the castle, Kallaster, Chey, her children, her best friend and Leander's wife Wynn, the Kingdoms advisors, and other families that the castle took in for shelter and refuge are all hunkered down trying to stay warm and survive as the harsh winter continues with blizzard after blizzard. I found this book to be monotonous, with repetitive storm, crisis, another storm another crisis, but each crisis happened simultaneously with both Sander and Chey it became just boring and dragged on and on, which I found very surprising because this series I have loved for its excitement, thrill, suspense and romance that was gone too... What happened to the hot chemistry between Sander and Chey, did that become cold too from all the blizzards... I hope Danielle Bourdon writes another book to add to the Royals Series, a romantic vacation for Sander and Chey, rekindle the fire!!! I did find the Epilogue to be exciting, I do hope the author follows through with that, that would be great, I look forward to reading those next books!!!
I stumbled upon this author and series after downloading Book 1 in this series. After not being able to put it down, I downloaded the rest in the series in quick succession!
Sander and Chey are a favourite book couple of mine. Both strong, stubborn, determined and devoted to each other and their country, they have to deal with a threat by one they thought they was out of their lives for good. They endure this all while being seperated as Mother Nature throws a spanner in the works. I defy anyone to read this and not be gasping out loud.
This book had me hooked from the first page. It is as gripping and dramatic as ever. Filled with suspense, intrigue and plot twists you do not see coming, you will be spellbound.
Without a doubt one of my favourote series ever, I cannot recommend it enough.
I haven't read any others in this series, but I really enjoyed this seventh book about the Latvala royals. Sander and the other men are stuck in the snow, battling both the elements and human adversaries, as Chey struggles to maintain control of Kallaster Castle in the king's absence. There are lots of fabulous twists and turns, and a very satisfying resolution. I absolutely loved the epilogue, too, which gives a look at the next generation in action. I'm looking forward to reading all the earlier books now.
OMG! I LOVE this book! It's amazing! this series is one of my all time favorites! I just LOVE SAnder- and Chey, and Mattias and Leander ;) Sander is my favorite :D
there was so much suspense! I was on the edge of my seat! I enjoyed how Danielle went from Chey and Sander, which just led to MORE suspense! it was SSSOOOOO good! AMAZING!!! I LOVED and LAUGHED at the epilogue! perfect! perfect ending AND OR perfect beginning, either way I am completely satisfied and happy!!!
(now if only the audio would come out for all of them ;) hehe)
As always it's great to read about Chey and Sander and Danielle doesn't disappoint with this book. Yet again the King and queen find themselves against adversaries, one from their past and the second from Mother Nature. Can they overcome these roadblocks with their determination and resilience? Their love for each shines through and you are always rooting for them. Easy flowing paced story. Loved it just wish there will be more which Danielle may do in the form of the children.
When I got to 90 percent compliance of this book, I tried to read slower, I didn't want it to end. The Royals series is just awesome, I love Sander and Chey and it was hard to see the series come to an end. It makes me want to start over and read them all again. This book was wonderful, I loved the back and forth from Sander's story to Chey's. All of Danielle Bourdon's books are amazing. Take a chance and read them.
Sander and Chey are my favorite couple ever! Their love, their bond, their determination, their compassion and undying strength sweep you in to their adventure. This crusade was as much their determination to care for their family, friends and homeland as ever. I found myself in tears at one point and elated at another point. I hope their story continues...❤️❤️
I loved it so much going on.. I'm sad to see it end with sanders and Chey but it was great! Snow storms traitors blackouts.. Man I couldn't put it down .. And I'm happy to see the whole family together I love the bond they have.. Great read
Volume 7 provided a fabulous ending. There was tragedy, a cataclysmic event, and the return of an ominous character. However, with all problems overcome, the kingdom of Latvala reigns supreme!
I absolutely love this couple Chey and Sander right from the beginning. I was especially excited about the epilogue with their kids all grown up. I'm hoping she does a spinoff with the heir apparent Elias and his brother and sisters. Can't get enough.
