Standby: An Enemies to Lovers Romance (WQUZ News Book 1) by Brandy Ayers is a contemporary romance with a touch of the thriller about it. It was a rollercoaster of emotions, I laughed, I cried, I sighed, I gripped the edge of my seat. Absolutely fab book in my opinion. The love scenes were hot and the action was thrilling.

The main character Mira is a focused reporter who divides her time between news reporting for a Pittsburgh TV station and caring for her father who has early stage Alzheimer’s. When she meets Chris Noble she thinks he is arrogant and dismisses him without a second thought, but he keeps appearing in places she doesn’t expect and eventually they give in to their mutual attraction. Mira is worried a relationship would shift her focus from her career and her father so she backs out but Chris is not going to give up without a fight.

I liked the characterisation of the lead and supporting characters. The tactful way in which Mira’s dad’s illness was portrayed was lovely. Mira was a supportive daughter with a supporting cast of carers to help her, but she didn’t want to admit how bad her dad had got. The author illustrated that although we think we have lost someone to this disease there is always a little bit of them still there. Without adding any spoilers, I really enjoyed the introduction of the sub plot with Ray. Because of the content I’d say it was suitable for over 18s only.

I laughed, cried, sighed and was more than a little thrilled. Fab book!

Awesome book! Chris and Mira were both a funny and intense read. Awesome because Chris was very persistent to get her to date him. Intense because Mira has someone kinda stalking her. Chris and Mira work for competing news stations but they figure a way around not talking about work. I loved how this author created her characters and how she laid the ground work for the next book. I'll be on the edge of my seat waiting to find out more about the trash can fires.

Standby: WQUZ News Book 1 by Brandy Ayers
4 out of 5stars
This is the first book that I have read by this author and I enjoyed it. This is a romantic comedy with a bit of mystery and suspense added in the mix.

Mira Simpson’s has a busy career as a crime reporter a WQUZ in Pittsburgh and she also cares for her ill father. Mira hasn’t had time for a social life, much less a love life since his diagnosis with Alzheimer’s disease. To top all of this she has an overzealous fan added to her stress.
Now we add Chris Noble, the infuriating, and infuriatingly hot, reporter from rival news station WBDD has taken over the open crime reporter position. The two clash heads in the field. But even while he is pissing her off like no other can, Noble is also turning her on. As Mira begins to let her guard down, she learns there might be more to Noble than meets the eye. Can Mira learn to trust her biggest rival? Or will she continue to put her heart on standby?
Mira is such a strong, stubborn woman; however, she also has a heart of gold. She is a wonderful reporter who really connects with her stories and gives them the human aspect that others can’t or won’t. Chris is a self-assured kind of guy and you come to realize through all the teasing that he does with Mira that he really wants a relationship with her. I simply love the banter between these two. This isn’t just a love story this is also an emotional story between a daughter and her father and a disease that is taking her father from her. Through all of this we have an overzealous fan making her life crazy.
Can she keep it together or will she fall apart? Will she lean on Chris or will she turn away from him completely? Will they catch the overzealous fan before he or she goes to far? Well I guess you will have to read this book to find out.

LEARN TO LOVE THY COMPETITION!!
This is the first in the WQUZ News series and it is a must read!! From the very start I was pulled into this story!
Mira aka Princess Simpson is a reporter for WQUZ news and loves what she does. Her job means everything to her and she is good! Her job helps keep her mind off some challenges Mira faces every day at home. Even though these challenges are hard, they are harder for the person she loves dearly. Her days are very routine and Mira doesn’t have much of a social life. Mira accepts the cards she has been dealt with love and grace and the help of two very special people.
Chris Noble loves to irritate Mira because they work for two competitive news stations. He is always where she is honing in on her stories. This man is so frustrating and why does he always call her Princess? She is not a princess she is a strong woman and takes care of her own. Why does he have to be so good looking and walks around like sex on a stick? That stupid tooth pick he chews on drives Mira crazy and makes her so hot, which makes her even madder. Chris is very attracted to Mira. She is sexy, beautiful and a fantastic reporter. He knows she hates the name Princess but she doesn’t know the real reason he calls her that. His new goal is to get her to fall for him like he has fallen for her. Challenge accepted.
Ray is a deranged schizophrenic. He stalks Mira and scares her to death. She never knows where he is or what he will do. She never expected him to carry his threats as far as he did!
Can Chris keep Mira safe or will Ray end it all?
Brandy Ayers has written a very good book. Her writing is smooth and flows nicely. This is the first of her books that I have read, but it won’t be the last. I am looking forward to reading Breaking: WQUZ News book 2! Thank you Brandy Ayers for sharing your talent with us.

“Standby” is a classic romance with sexual tension, angst, mystery and lots of great friends and family.

Brandy Ayers is a writer whose books I’ve enjoyed in the past and I knew I would enjoy this story.

Mira is a television reporter for a smaller local station. Chris works for a larger, rival station and they work the same beat; he’s always trying to get the scoop on her stories which drives her nuts. In addition to her job, Mira is a caregiver for her dad which takes a lot of her time and doesn’t allow for much of a social life.

The characters in this book where quickly developed and storyline flowed fast. It was a great read from cover to cover and I absolutely recommend it.

I look forward to the continuing series with other characters we have already met.

Standby is the wonderful first book in the WQUZ News Series by Brandy Ayers. I have read some of Brandy Ayers books before, so I was expecting this to be good- but I wasn’t sure if I would just like it, or completely LOVE it. Well, it only took me a couple of chapters to discover that it wasn’t just good…… It was incredible! I LOVED it. I was immersed in the story from start to finish- I was quite disappointed when real life interfered with my reading this fantastic book. Even with interruptions, I still managed to read it all in a day. And Wow… this is the best of the bunch so far!
Mira Simpson is a talented journalist who works for WQUZ news channel, as their roving crime reporter. Mira puts her heart and soul into every story she does. Not only is she beautiful, smart and funny- she is also a perfectionist and very passionate about her work. Mira is earnest and likeable, she has a wonderful way with people that puts them at ease and draws the stories from them. Because of these qualities, she is considered to be one of the best journalists in her area.
But behind her public persona, hides a lot of hurt, stress and vulnerability. Her life outside of work is very routine and yet quite complicated. Having lost her mother to illness as a baby, Mira grew up with her father as the sole parent. They were each other’s world. But for the past two years, Mira has had the added responsibility of having to take care of her beloved father, while he succumbs to early onset Alzheimer’s disease. Watching while the strong, brilliant, caring man she knew- slips away little by little. It breaks her heart seeing him deteriorate so much.
So, the last thing she needs now is having to deal with an arrogant, self-assured and infuriating reporter from rival news channel, WBDD- Chris Noble.
Chris Noble is quite taken with the ‘pocket rocket’- he loves to push her buttons, just to get a reaction. Their work quite often has them turning up at the same location to do interviews and usually results in them verbally sparing- trading thinly veiled insults and sarcastic barbs. He has wanted her since the moment he laid eyes on her and won’t give up until she agrees to go out with him. She finds him infuriating, but is so turned on by him that she gets lost for words. As a rule she doesn’t date other journalists, but he’s determined to break down her walls and get her to change her mind.
Add an unhinged stalker with a frightening agenda to this mix, and the story really soars. This book would have been brilliant without the addition of the ‘stalker’, but with his inclusion the story transcends to another level- where intrigue, mystery and suspense join the plot, adding extra layers of interest.
Will Mira Let down her defences and give Chris a chance? Will the stalker fulfil his threats, or will they be able to thwart his ill-intent? What does their future hold?
Ms. Ayers had outdone herself with this book. It is completely captivating. I was on the edge of my seat, devouring every word to find out what was going to happen next. The multi-layers of this story are brilliant and blend together so wonderfully. They complement each other so well. It’s a true testament to Ms. Ayer’s storytelling skills.
The characters are superb, I loved everything about them. I am in love with Chris, and have a serious girl crush on Mira. They complement one another so well. The banter between Chris and Mira is hilarious, with very witty quips. Mira’s relationship with her father is both heart-warming and heartbreaking all at the same time! I really felt for what she was going through and shed quite a few tears during the story. Ms. Ayers built the sexual tension between Mira and Chris really well; I was just about salivating in anticipation of them finally getting together. Panty melting stuff, right there!
This book is incredibly well written, has a wonderful plot and brilliant dialogue. It has a great pace, is very smooth and easy to read. It is a standalone in a series of inter-connected publications. I want to read the next book in the series right now! I can’t wait to see what ‘Breaking: WQUZ News Book 2’ has in store for us!

Thank you Ms. Ayers!

Standby: WZUZ News Book 1 by Brandy Ayers is about two reporters competing against each other to get the story first. This story has just about everything in it, excitement, action, passion and suspense. This is a romantic crime story that will have you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what will happen. You will want to see out what is behind every corner. Will these two reporters find more then just a news story?

Mia Simpson works as a news reporter for WQUZ who works long hours and who has overflowed her plate. When she is not working she is caring for her sick father. Since her father's illness two years ago she has not had a life of her own, no dating and no socializing. On top of all that, she has an over excited fan who is making trouble for her and adding to her stress level. What will happen when she sees that the hot, infuriating reporter is working for a rival station in the crime beat? She is attracted to him but know that being rivals they should not be together. Will she change her mind? Will she give their friendship a chance?

Chris Noble is a free lance reporter that now works for a local news station as their crime beat reporter. From the time he sees her, he knows he has to have her. Is there more to him then meets the eye? Is he hiding something? Will he show her that its okay to trust him?

Mia and Chris's story is one of learning to trust and finding out who each other really are. Will she let her guard down to him? How can one person irritate her so much but yet turn her on? They clash in the field but will they clash on personal level? Will they put themselves on standby? Their story will pull you into their world of reporting with crime and suspense.

This is my second read by Brandy Ayers. Brandy lives in Pennsylvania with her husband, son, daughter, their boxer and their cat. She has been writing in one form or another since she has been a child and has decided that her English/Irish heritage is boring. You will enjoy this story as it is a page turner from the first page to the end. Mia and Chris are passion that you will want to find out what happens to them. I highly suggest this story as I know you will love it as much as I did.

Standby: WQUZ News Book 1
By: Brandy Ayers
5 out of 5 stars

The story Standby: WQUZ News Book 1 by Brandy Ayers is a romantic comedy book with a bit of mystery and suspense added in. Mira Simpson’s plate is overflowing. She has a busy career as a crime reporter a WQUZ in Pittsburgh and she also cares for her ill father. Since his diagnosis with Alzheimer’s disease, Mira hasn’t had time for a social life, much less a love life. To add to this is an overzealous fan and Mira is seriously stressed out. Now Chris Noble, who is an infuriatingly hot reporter from a rival station has taken a position as a crime reporter. The two clash heads often. Just one problem, why is she starting to have feelings for Noble? As Mira starts to let her guard down will she find there is more to Noble than meets the eye? Could she even learn to trust him?

This is an amazing story! The bantering back and forth between Chris and Mira is wonderful and funny. I like Mira as she is such a strong, stubborn person, however, she also has a heart of gold. She is a wonderful reporter and really connects with the stories and gives them the human aspect that others can’t. Chris is a self-assured kind of guy who knows that he wants, Mira. You come to realize through all the teasing that he does that a relationship with Mira is what he really wants. This is also a story about Mira’s relationship with her father and his diagnosis with Alzheimer’s disease. It has been two years since they found out and his care is getting harder and harder. Mira is close to her father and hates what this disease is doing to him. There were times in the book when it got very emotional. Then you have an overzealous fan who makes Mira’s life miserable. I don’t know if I would be able to keep it all together like she does.

This book has a lot going on and is a wonderful read. This is the second book I have read by the author and I can’t wait to read the next one in this series and look for her previous books. She really focuses on the human aspect and that is something I love. This book does have scenes of hot and steamy romance, which would make this a book for those 18 years of age or older.

Standby is the first book in the WQUZ News series by Brandy Ayers. This is the second book that I have read by this author and I was not disappointed! This book had me in varying emotional states! There were quite a few tears shed during my time reading this story. The author definitely knows how to make her characters emotionally available so that you are able to connect with them. Although there were quite a few emotional moments there were also some really funny times. I loved the banter between the two main characters, Mira and Chris, and I was definitely rooting for this couple! I couldn’t put this book down; it flowed so well that it was just so easy to read.
The story is about Mira who is a crime reporter for WQUZ in Pittsburgh. She works long hours in the day and also cares for her Father, who has been diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s disease. All of this means that Mira has put her social life on hold, including her love life. Along with a stressful job and caring for her Father Mira also has a crazy overzealous fan who is making trouble for her. As if all of that wasn’t enough Mira now has to deal with the infuriating Chris Nobel, the hot reporter from rival new station WBDD, who has taken over the open crime reporting position. The two of them clash in the reporting field and as much Chris annoys her he equally turns her on! As Mira ever so slightly lets her guard down she realises there might be more to Chris than she first anticipated!
The story does cover some sensitive issues that I’m sure will be close to home for some people but the author really does need to be given credit for writing about them so well and for making the situation feel so real. I could imagine this scenario happening a lot and know the exact way Mira felt and her guilt over not being able to care for her father the way she feels she should.
This really is a beautiful, emotional story that will keep you thinking about the characters long after you have finished reading. It definitely deserves the 5 star rating I give it and I wholeheartedly recommend it as one of my favourite reads of 2017 so far!

5 Stars *****

I would honestly give this book way more than 5 stars if I could. Standby by Brandy Ayers is an emotional, suspenseful book that you will not want to put down and also book one of the WQUZ News series.
Mira is a crime news reporter working for WQUZ and is living her dream, during work hours that is. Everything in career is going great until a hot, annoying competitor shows up and it seems his mission in life is to drive Mira crazy.
Chris Noble is currently working for a competitor of WQUZ and is filling in on the crime scene when he meets Mira, who has no problem telling him how it is and he knows from that moment on that he wants Mira to know the real him and not the Noble that everyone makes him out to be, but getting her to agree is proving to be one of the most difficult things he has every done.
Mira doesn’t understand why Chris is making such an effort to get to know her but she knows that she does not have time for him or any relationship for that matter. Between work and taking care of her dad she really doesn’t need anymore distractions but Chris breaks her down and she soon finds out that he is nothing like she originally thought, but when things in her personal life escalate and her professional life get dangerous she must make a choice to make some changes and she is not sure if Chris fits into those changes or not.
This book touched me emotionally on so many levels because some of it I have dealt with personally so I was in tears numerous times while trying to read. I did want to smack Mira on the back of the head several times but I did have some understanding of why she did what she did but looking from the outside I get it. I highly recommend that you start this book now because it proves just how amazing this series is going to be and honestly I have read other books by this author and I am not sure if she knows how to write a bad book.

STANDBY (WQUZ News Book 1)
AUTHOR: BRANDY AYERS

FIVE STARS

If you are looking for a great romantic comedy with a splash of mystery and a bit of suspense, look no further. STANDBY, by Brandy Ayers, has it all and will keep you captivated until the very last page. Brandy has written a wonderful story with an amazing cast of characters with a lot of heart and I give it five stars. The WQUZ News Book Series has started off with a bang and I look forward to jumping into the rest of the series.

Mira Simpson is a very busy girl! She works very long hours as a highly successful crime reporter for WQUZ in Pittsburgh and the rest of the time she lovingly cares for her father who has onset Alzheimer’s disease. Mira loves her job, but due to the long hours and caring for her father, her life is very stressful. She doesn’t have time for a social life. No girls’ night out and no dating. However, Mira accepts her situation and deals with it admirably. Her huge heart is full of so much love for her father and her emotions will break your heart at times. A persistent fan adds a bit more excitement and drama to her already stressful life.

Chris Noble is also a crime reporter, but for a competitor station. He knows just how to get under Mira’s skin, and he is everywhere! Every time she goes to report on a crime he is there. It doesn’t help that he is smoking hot! And watch out for the sparks that fly between them. Chris is a great reporter and the banter that flows back and forth between them is hilarious. He wants her and will do everything possible to get her guard down.

This book is simply amazing. This is a series that you should put on your “to be read” list.

I just recently read and reviewed another book by Brandy Ayers and I was highly impressed. I found this book, “Standby” good but it dragged in the middle. I was looking for the story to move a bit faster in what was going on. I think the characters were wonderfully developed with good roles implemented into the story! I think the author did an awesome job in the beginning of the story laying out her plot and what could possible be conflicts that may arise in the story. I was very interested to read more into the story as to what would be happen with the main characters. The chemistry between Mira and Chris was most definitely established. Would anything become of the conflicts that were in the beginning of the story? I wondered would those issues get more complicated and effect Mira’s life in a negative way or maybe Chris’ life. I wanted to read and find out how strong a character Chris was because Mira was going to need a strong man to deal with her and everything she came with. For example, it’s possible Mira came with her own trouble-maker named Ray! Mira was also trying to handle a on-going family situation that every adult child may have to take care of in the future. She also had a bunch of ladies routing for in the romance department.

Again, I thought the book should have went a little quicker. The dialogue was written smoothly for the most part along with the events occurring in the story. It all made sense. The cover was very cool! I would absolutely read more from Brandy Ayers. I gave this story 4 stars.

4.5 stars for Standby, WQUZ News Book 1, by Brandy Ayers. This is the first book in the series and I can honestly say that I truly enjoyed it.
Mira is a crime reporter for WQUZ news station during the day and every other minute she has to spare, she takes care of her father who is suffering from Alzheimer's. She barely has a free moment to breathe let alone be involved in a relationship of any kind.
Chris Noble is also a crime reporter but he works for a different news station. They see each other frequently during shoots and he does everything to get Mira worked up while she does her best to try and ignore him. Granted he is sexy and hot, but Mira just doesn't have time for it.
The only excitement that Mira does have in her life, she could do without. She has this one fan that calls her constantly to the point of stalkerish. She doesn't think anything of it until little things start to happen.
She is occupied with taking care of her father but she starts making time to spend with Chris. Can she have the best of both worlds? Is it possible for her to fall in love and have a relationship with Chris and take care of her ailing father? When her “fan” takes things a little too far, will Mira lose everything that she holds dear and loves or is this just the beginning?
I enjoyed this book. I didn't want to put it down from page one. The relationship that Mira and Chris have is so entertaining and hot at the same time. I know that you will enjoy this book as much as I did.

Standby: WQUZ News Book 1 by Brandy Ayers is the first book in a series of standalone novels. This book focuses on the crime reporter at WQUZ, Mira Simpson. She has a very busy career that she loves and an even more difficult and busy life outside of work taking care of her father who is ill with early onset Alzheimer’s. Mira has very little to no time left for a social life or for dating between her career and her family.
Chris Nobel is a rival reporter at another station and he loves to do anything and everything he can to anger Mira and get a reaction out of her. Mira is infuriated by Nobel but at the same time she is extremely attracted to this man and cannot stop thinking about him. Chris and Mira start spending more time together and he starts to relentlessly pursue her. Will Mira realize that Chris isn’t such a bad guy after all and find a way to make time for a man in her life?
This story is a great love story but on top of that this book has suspense and danger when Mira’s number one fan takes things way too far. This book is also about Mira and her bond with her father. This bond she has with him is beautiful and heartbreaking all at the same time. Overall I really liked this book and would recommend it. My only complaint and reason for holding back a five star review is because I felt the storyline was quite predictable but the book is really well written and it did keep me laughing and entertained throughout the entire book.

Title: Standby: WQUZ News Book 1
Author:Brandy Ayers

Standby: WQUZ News Book 1 was a great 5 star read.

You get romance, danger, love, suspense, mystery and a few ugly cry moments. Be prepared to read the whole book in one sitting, you won’t want to put it down.

Mira is a crime reporter who is dedicated to her job and caring for her father. She definitely doesn’t have time for men.
Chris is a reporter for a rival station and seems to always appear in the same places as Mira.

These two seem to have a love/hate relationship. There is something about Chris that gets under Mira’s skin. On top of dealing with Chris, Mira also has a fan that is getting a little out of hand. Can she stay safe? Will Mira let her guard down and let Chris in?

There is so much more to this great story. I have to say I really enjoyed Mira, she was a very strong character with a big heart, she was very passionate about her stories. Chris eventually grew on me also, I’m glad that he was a very determined man. Who doesn’t like that in a man? The bantering was great between these two, I had several LOL moments. This is also a great story about a family dealing with Alzheimer's, this is a serious subject and Brandy Ayers did a great job with this. I was an emotional wreck when I finished, be prepared to cry at some point.
This is my first read from Brandy Ayers and I definitely plan to read more. Excellent job Brandy, I loved it and highly suggest everyone 1-click now and get started.

Standby By Brandy Ayers
Stars: Five
Mira Simpson is completely overwhelmed. She loves her father, but he was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s disease. For the last two years, his disease is deteriorating and is starting to become more than what Mira can handle to keep her father safe. She loves her job, but it requires long hours and interaction with an overzealous fan. Then, there is Chris Noble. He is a reporter from a competing news, and he loves to make mad her at him. He is also a great guy….well, after Mira gets to know him. He fights to get her to let him in. She is learns about love and life along the way.
I really enjoyed this book. This book really drew me into their relationship right from the first chapter. Right off the bat, she is screaming at Chris, because, yeah, he loves to make her angry. Then, she does something not because she happy about it, but because it was the right thing to do. That was probably when I became invested in what happened to her. Mira is a very strong lead character. She has so much going on and, for the most part, handles it with grace. I loved Chris. He is funny, smart, persistent, and loving. He refuses to give up on Mira no matter the obstacle. The book kept me engaged with Chris and Mira relationship, the heartbreaking situation about Mira’s father, and the suspenseful action with her fan. I am excited to see what happens next in this series!

Standby by Brandy Ayers was amazing! I don't think I could say enough good things about this book. Brandy Ayers is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. She has a way of writing that pulls you in and makes you feel apart of each story, and this one was no different. Another 5 star read!

Mira Simpson has a busy career with WQUZ in Pittsburgh as a Crime Reporter. She does whatever is asked of her, she's always putting work and family above everything. After working all day she goes to take care of her father who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's a few years back. She doesn't have time for a social life, all she cares about is work and her father. But now she has a fan who's causing trouble for her, and it's only stressing her out even more.

Enter Chris Noble, he's infuriating, but he's hot, like off the charts hot. He's a reporter from a different station and he's taking over there Crimes Reporter position, so now he's her competition. These two have some serious chemistry, but they push against each other and he pisses her off more than anything. But the more time they spend together, the more she sees that there is more than meets the eye when it comes to Chris. Can these two put aside their differences and a trust each other? Will Mira finally let herself be happy and have a personally life? Or will she continue to put everyone else ahead of her?

This book was amazing! I would recommend this book to everyone who loves HEA and loves an over the top alpha male!

Amazing story and another great book boyfriend. Chris Noble seemed to get to Mira Simpson with this littlest things like for instance calling her Princess. They work at different television stations doing the same job but Chris was not near as good at his reporting as Mira seemed to be. She knew how to draw the crowd in and that made her a better reporter. They would end up on the same scenes most of the time and Mira would do everything in her power to avoid Chris and he loved every minute of it. The banter between the two literally cracked me up.
Mira loves her job and she puts her heart into it. She tries to make the audience see the story as she does and she tries to help people as well. She thinks Noble is a playboy and has no intention of ever going out with him. He seems to know exactly what buttons to push. She doesn’t really date much and that is just fine with her because for years she has been going to work and coming home to take care of her dad. Her dad is her number one priority and that is just the way it has to be. She feels responsible for him and her aunt helps her along with a lady they hired to help during the day so that does not leave time for her to have a social life.
This book was just awesome and I loved the way Chris turned out to be. Chris is perfect in every way and I thoroughly enjoyed his character. Great book.

Standby: WQUZ News is the first in a new series by Brandy Ayers. The story is about Mira Simpson and Christopher Noble, who are competing crime reporters for the local stations in Pittsburgh. Mira has put her life on standby focusing all of her energy and time on her career and the care of her father. Her dad has early onset Alzheimer’s but is still at home under the care of Mira, her Aunt Helen, and a nurse Eddie. Chris Noble works for the competition working the same stories of Mira. He is a pro at getting Mira worked up and frustrated with his attitude and good looks. The other conflict and a huge stress for Mira is a crazed fan who is trying to get too close for comfort.
So many things going on in this story but the author makes it all work together seamlessly. I was taken in by the story and could related to the story of caring for a sick parent. I was anxious to see if everything would work out for Mira. She is a likeable character who many can relate. She is strong, independent but also vulnerable. Chris is kind, patient but also a tremendous flirt. I enjoyed their story and the challenges that were presented to them. They were not characters that were perfect or led perfect lives. They each had their challenges to overcome. I look forward to the next book in this series and there was a hint to who the next characters the book would be focused on.

Standby:WZUZ News Book 1 by Brandy Ayers

Standby: WZUZ News Book 1 by Brandy Ayers is the first book in her WZUZ News series.I absolutely loved this book I couldn't put it down once I started reading. I've read other books by this author and I  can't wait to read more. I love her style of writing and her ability to grab your attention from the beginning and keep it till the end. Her attention to detail never disapoint either. Her characters are all believable and they just help the story flow. This story has a little bit of everything from action, passion, suspense and even some excitement. This story is about  two reporters competing against each other to get the story first. This being a romantic crime story will definitely have you on the edge of your seat trying to figure out what happens next.Mia  is a news reporter for WZUZ she works long hours and has a overloaded plate. She also takes care of her sick father, she hasn't had much time for dating since he became I'll two years ago. She's got herself a  very excited fan who's causing her trouble  and definitely adding to her stress level. What will happen when she sees the super got reporter is working for the rival station in crime beat? Then there's Chris and he's a free Lance reporter  and now works at the local station as their crime beat reporter. The moment he sees her he knows instantly that he must have her.Can Mia really trust him?Is Chris hiding something? These two have to learn to trust one another while in the process of finding themselves. Does Mia let her guard down? These two don't exactly get along out in the field but can they get along on a personal level?I got sucked into their world and loved it,the suspense  thst comes with reporting crime is crazy. Will these two put themselves on standby? .

I highly recommend this book especially if you want to know how it ends. You won't be disappointed I know I sure wasn't

Standby by Brandy Ayers is the first book in the WQUZ series and it was such a fantastic read that I would give it more than 5 stars if the scale went that high. Standby is about two reporters, Mira and Chris, both from rival networks that have to find a way to work together or risk losing everything. Mira is a woman after my own heart, extending herself beyond anything most people would do, taking care of her ailing father while working and putting herself last every time. When she finds that Chris has taken a position as her direct rival, not only does he fire her investigative senses but her feminine side as well. Mira would have to take a leap of faith to put her heart on the line with someone like Chris, but if he is worth it then she is in for the ride of her life. Chris is everything that Mira needs and more. He has been watching her for what seems like forever, and wants to be more than rivals with her. But getting Mira to see that his intentions are good won’t be easy, since being on opposites for so long has only made him want her more. When twists and turns happen in this story that could jeopardize Mira’s safety Chris will have to be willing to do anything to get his girl. I LOVED THIS STORY! I have been a fan of Ayers for years now, she is an automatic buy for me every time and this book does not disappoint in the least. Not only does she write amazingly deep characters but her storyline makes you want to just fall into her books and never come out. While this book is the first in a new series, it can be read as a standalone. This is a must read for anyone looking for a great new read.

Standby by Brandy Ayers was a good read.

This story is about a girl who has a lot on her plate when the unexpected romance shows up. She fights her desires to be with the playboy of the town who is hot as all get out. He is a charmer and manages to trick her into a date. She reluctantly goes and fights her inner voice to continue on with what they have. They share a magical night which turns disastrous almost and she realizes what she may do. This story is about overcoming obstacles and making the hard decisions that many would agree are all too common. Mira is a reporter who takes care of her dad who is diagnosed with Alzheimer's and is progressing at a pretty rapid pace. She also has to deal with a crazed fan when she finds herself in some precarious situations. Chris, hot playboy and competition in the reporting realm, manages to break down all her walls and see what life has in store for them. This is a steamy romance that is a little too predictable in my opinion. It was still a good read but it was just really easy to know what would happen. Mira is a strong stubborn woman who falls for the hot guy and they fall in love. Have some trouble along the way but manage to overcome it and whether they live happily ever after or not you will have to go read it yourself.

I give this book 3 stars.

Standby: An Enemies to Lovers Romance (WQUZ News Book 1) by Brandy Ayers tells the story of Mira Simpson and Chris Noble. As the title says this is an enemies to lovers book and the heat between these two main characters is off the charts.
Mira is so busy with her job and taking care of her seriously ill father that she barely has time to breath let alone have a social, or love, life. Add in the fact that a rival reporter has just moved into a vacant position and is doing everything his power to irritated her you can understand why she’s frustrated.
Chris has wanted Mira from the second he saw her. While it is fun getting her riled up and hot and bothered, he is bound and determined to get her to give him a chance. All of his joking and bravado hides the heart of a man that is looking for that one special woman. Will Mira let herself open up enough to see that?
This book was amazing. The characters were written so well that they jumped off the page and into my life. I loved the whole love/hate relationship that the two characters had at the start and the progression of the relationship as it grew and evolved with the characters. This is a story that has a little bit of something for everyone. It is filled with romance, adventure, drama and mystery and the plot will keep you reading long into the night just to see what happens next.

Standby: WQUZ News Book by Brandy Ayers is a contemporary romance story with a hint of action included. The story is full of romance and the chemistry between the two main characters will jump off the page, with the fast paced, witty writing I really enjoyed this story.

Mira is a reporter who has alot on her plate juggling a full time job and caring for her sick father, she has no time for any other hobbies or relationships until he walked in the room and changed her ideas and leaves her wanting more.

Chris Noble enters the scene and things start getting interesting at first, Mira is not too interested and thinks he is up himself but when he starts popping up the least expected places she can not deny the attraction between the two of them.

I really enjoyed this book and although the story is fast paced I could not put it down, the writing is witty and the story is well written, I especially feel that the subject of Alzheimer's is written with dignity and the struggle that Mira has is real to alot of people. Mira's shows through the writing of the character a caring side and that us as individuals try to sometimes kid ourselves into thinking that things are not as bad as we believe. I have read other books by the author and cannot wait to read more in this series going forward.

Standby, the first in the WQUZ News Series, by Brandy Ayers keeps you on the edge of your emotions. This book has romance, steaming hot passion, suspense, crazy stalker, and a wonderful family story all wrapped up in one wonderfully written book.
Mira is a well-established news reporter for WQUZ. Noble is a well-established news reporter for WBDD, one of Mira’s competing stations. Noble is so cocky and will do whatever it takes to get a story, but he is so sexy. Mira tries to keep her distance, she has enough in her life to focus on; she can’t handle another distraction. The heat Mira feels from an innocent touch from Noble keeps her having the best kind of dreams about him for days, or is it just because she hasn’t had sex for two years. Mira has her work to concentrate on and when she’s not at work she has a family matter that takes up all her free time. So, she hasn’t had time to concentrate on her romantic life.
Now everything is beginning to change. Mira has to decide if she will let Noble in, she has to make a hardest decision for her family, and the weird but harmless fan proves to be not so harmless.
Brandy Ayers has written one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. It is full of so many emotion, laughter, sadness, fear, and heat. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series. I would recommend this book to everyone.

Standby by Brandy Ayers is the first in the WQUZ News series. A brilliant enemies to lovers story this book was highly entertaining throughout.

Mira loves her job. She is good at it and she loves the thrill she gets every time she puts out an amazing story. Even better is every time she does better than her competition Chris Noble. Snug and arrogant she loves nothing more than to knock him off his pedestal.
However she can’t help but few the growing attraction to him. Although she knows she needs to stay away and not get involved - they are competition after all - she can’t help but be drawn to him like no one else previously.
But with a complicated home life and a newly acquired stalker her life is anything but simple. Holding him off might be one thing too much for her to handle. Letting him in though might also be more than she can take.

This was a brilliant book. I loved the back and forth between these two characters and there hilarity that seemed to to be all their interactions. They were well suited together and made you want to read more about them.
I would have loved to have had some chapters told from his POV however the story did not lack from this. An author I have read previously and one who continues to grab my attention and keep hold. A great read.

Stand By WQUZ News book 1
An enemies to lover's romance
by: Brandy Ayers
5 Stars

Brandy Ayers has become one of my new favorite authors in 2017. I fell in love with her Blue Line Series and if you have not read them I encourage you to. She writes suspenseful, emotional romance, and her characters are well thought out and so is her plot for the story.
For the past two years Mira Simpson's life has been anything but easy. She has a busy career as a crime reporter keeping her at work sometimes ten hours a day, and when she gets home she takes care of her father who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. She has a crazy fan who stresses her out then she finds out her rival, Chris Nobel who works at her rival agency who she despises, now works for her station. This does not set well with her at all. They both clash in the field and he pisses her off like no one can.
Chris has been intrigued by Mira for sometime now. He is very attracted to her but he will have to tread softly in his pursuit of her.
But trouble seems to follow them and he will have to decide if her wants to protect her.
A must read.

Standby by Brandy Ayers is the first book in the WQUZ News series. This story had a mix of everything from romance, suspense and action. You will be pulled into the story with ease and feel like you are on emotional roller coaster ride. This the story of Mia, a crime reporter for WQUZ. She works hard and takes care of her dad who was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease. She does not have time for a social life. You have Chris, who is working for a competitor and filling in as a crime reporter. Mia wants nothing to do with him. Chris wants her to get to know the real him and not his TV persona. Things start to get a bit dangerous for Mia. She doesn't know what she will do with her life with all going on.

Brandy Ayers has another hit with Standby. She wrote a great story with strong characters that will draw you in. Ms. Ayers writing flows with ease and so descriptive. You will not want to put Standby down. I cannot wait to see what she has instore for us with Breaking: WQUZ News.
