Fear and caution have kept Charlotte from living her life. But when the seemingly perfect man comes along and tears down her walls, will his secrets force her to build them back up? Charlotte Orlove learned at an early age it was best to blend into the background. Thankfully, her job as the overnight assignment editor at WQUZ allows her to do just that. Alone in the newsroom all night, she only comes into contact with local emergency responders and a few photographers, usually by phone. That’s how she likes it. Or at least it was. One phone call changes everything. Trey isn’t supposed to be answering the phones at the 911 dispatch center. But from the first moment she hears his voice, Charlotte knows she wants more. More from him. More from life. Turns out the man on the other side of that sexy voice is a Pittsburgh firefighter. As a string of brazen arsons plague the city, Charlotte fears for Trey’s safety and her heart. *Book two in the WQUZ News Series can be read as a standalone novel. There is no cheating and a Happily Ever After is guaranteed.
This book is about Charlotte, who is an introvert, has anxiety issues, and she doesn't feel like she is good enough ever (based in part on her childhood). Because of her anxiety and not liking to have to talk directly to people, Charlotte works the overnight desk. One of her duties, is to call all of the dispatch Sub-centers to find out if anything is going on. One night she calls one, and hears this deep, sexy voice talking to her. Trey is a firefighter, but is filling in this night. They immediately click. Trey keeps talking to her, and patiently waits until she is ready to meet him. This is the beginning of a steamy, hot romance. But Trey has some things in his past, that may tear them apart. This story is not only a romance, but it shows how good friendships, others believing in you - will make you believe in yourself, and you can overcome your own self-image issues. This is my first book by this author, but it will not be my last. Only after I read it, did I realize it was part of a series, but it can definitely be read as a stand alone. Oh and every girl, needs a Trey in their life!
This story is a slow build and takes a bit to get into. It is about a girl who works nights at the local radio stations. She by phone connects with our hero who is answering emergency calls but is a firefighter.
I instantly feel in love with Charlotte possible because I emphasized with some of her struggles. She is very shy and introverted with a lot of anxiousness and insecurity thrown in the mix. She really struggles with self worth which has interfered with her ability to establish a romantic relationship. She is such a sweetheart with a bit of hidden naughty girl which is humorous since she is a virgin.
Ok let me tell you about Trey. He is has a wonderful heart and you can’t help but fall for him as well at least in the beginning. His naughty side is holy hotness and he knows how to bring on his bad boy with Charlotte (fanning myself). As the story progresses it increases with angst and your need for answers.
Overall I felt this book is a good 3.5 stars read. I believe this author will only continue to up her game in the writing world. I plan to try out her future stories. Happy Reading!

Breaking: A Firefighter Romance (WQUZ News Book 2)
by Brandy Ayers
If you have been a shy person, someone full of stress, this a good book for you. I know it is hard to think that a romance novel can help. It will show that no matter what body size, background, education, we all have doubt. Charlotte is a ball of stress from her upbringing and never feels good enough for anyone, or promotion. So when one hot firefighter shows interest she feels it isn't for her. This book had enough heat and tension from other sources to be a good read. I really did enjoy the main players in this one. It was a pretty good days read. While it is a full novel it read well and fast. I think once I got into it, flowed quick. There is a book just before this one that I am going to check out. Well, once I get the backlog of ARC's done.
I liked this book. It was a little hard to get "in to" as the heroine is very shy and the progression of the romance was a little slow. I'm glad that they took the time to get to know one another, but it just seemed like it was too slow.
I liked this this one addressed mental health issues and anxiety ~ these are real things and were dealt with very well in the story, showing that there are struggles, but they can be workable. I enjoyed watching Charlotte grow in all aspects of her life. She needed the support that she got from Trey, her boss and her new-found friends. Trey was too sweet and it was a perfect contract to his dirty mouth int he bedroom. I loved the way he eased himself onto Charlotte's life. The suspense in this one was delivered well, even though it was at times disturbing because it hit home for me as a burn victim.
Well executed, perfect mix of Suspense and Sexiness...
This is one of the only books I have ever read that shed a “real” light on how it feels to struggle with anxiety. This was the first book I read by this author. I liked this book and it won’t be my last.
Shy, panicked woman meets sexy voiced fireman over the phone. They meet, sparks fly. Sweet base story, mixed with the suspense of an arsonist. Little do we know how it’s connected to our lead charters. Kept you interested all the way through.
Trey and charlottes story is so beautifully written! Charlotte is a shy hidden in the shadows type of girl until the night she calls the area Trey is in. Everything changes in Charlottes world! Must read this book!
Sweet romance with a strong male lead and a sweet but vulnerable young woman with a long list of insecurities and personal issues. Charlotte has never felt comfortable in her own skin, nor does she feel that she'll ever measure up to her parents' expectations. She's smart and organized, but socially awkward and unsure. When she first meets firefighter Trey, during a call to get updated news information, Charlotte cannot imagine this man has an interest in her socially or personally. As Trey gains her trust and interest, we get to watch Charlotte blossom. Lots of action and young angst.
I really identified with the heroine in a lot of ways. I enjoyed reading about how she overcame her shyness and anxieties in the face of love. I didn't mind that big sexy Hero either, and I love interracial romance. 4½ stars
I loved this story!! Char is such a brave strong woman trying to deal with her extreme anxiety issues!! She is such an amazing character and so is Trey - wow I think we all need someone like him in our lives!! A totally adorable story!! I loved it!!
All throughout this book I had a strange sense of deja vu for some reason. I loved this book, loved the characters and truly enjoyed reading about Charlotte and Trey. The sex scenes were totally off the charts; hot hot hot and steamy. Highly recommended.
This was a great story about a person with anxiety overcoming her problem with the help of good friends and a good man. I would have given it more stars but for the poor editing especially in the last half of the book. I was too in the storyline to stop. This could be a strong 4 or maybe a 5 with even a beta reader.
Breaking follows Trey, a firefighter and Charlotte who works for a news station. Charlotte is an introvert and has real problems socialising or even dealing with people at work. She speaks to Trey on one of her night shifts when she’s contacting dispatch centres and builds a friendship with him over the phone. Soon Trey wants to meet but Charlotte’s not sure she can handle her. Trey is patient and waits get out but Charlotte realises Trey is keeping something from her and when an arsonist targets her it all gets a bit close to home.
This book wow it’s hot & steamy but also fun it’s about a reporter named Charlotte and a firefighter named trey and how they meet by fate, there’s some twists but wow did some stuff happen. I loved reading it.
So I got to start this out by talking about how smooth and sexy talking Trey is. I mean, holy crap you could get off just by the words that came out of his mouth. I'm not sure how Charlotte didn't drive over and jump him after that phone call. Good lord, that was beyond HOT, HOT, HOT!!!!! He definitely knows how to talk to a lady and go all caveman over her. Charlotte was a quiet and shy girl. She wasn't the type to stand up in a crowd and talk. With her job and promotions happening, she is having to step out of her comfort zone. With the help of her boss, friends and Trey she is able to accomplish this. While Trey is pushy at times, it really does help boost her confidence in herself. She is more able to be herself and go after what she wants. With a string of arsons happening in the city, Charlotte feels there's connection but never knew she'd get more then she bargained for. Her and Trey have instant fire but they do have their ups and downs. Secrets are being held by Trey and tearing them apart. They do figure things out and make it work. This book was very addicting and was hard to put down.
Holy hotness! Charlotte and Trey start their relationship over the phone lines. She works the overnight in the local news station calling around the area for any breaking news stories. Trey is a firefighter who has to take a leave but fills in for the over night dispatcher. Chemistry sizzles over the phone lines from their very first call. Trey figures out the Charlotte is worth the getting to know you on her terms. Charlotte has a few anxiety issues. She would rather be alone with her cat than meet new people. But he hangs on and is persistent. The result is so worth it! Their challenges don't end there. An arsonist is plaguing the city and Charlotte is starting to put the pieces together. Trey is afraid for her and she is afraid for Trey.
Another great story by Brandy Ayers! This was a slow burn - not something I am used to with her books, but it could not have been better paced. There was enough grit, tension, and intrigue to keep me turning the pages and when this gorgeous firefighter turns the heat up all the way with his shy and reserved woman... Holy flames of passion, Batman!
The true beauty of this novel comes with the heroine. She’s tougher than she realizes and threw me for a loop with some of the amazing things she does. I’m super proud of how she handles herself in each situation and felt more drawn and connected to her the further I read.
I can’t wait to read what this author writes next.
I loved this sexy romantic action/mystery. Ms Ayers writes such real, believable characters. She did a great job of characterizing Charlotte with her anxiety disorder - instead of detracting from the story or making her seem weak, it made her very relatable. Charlotte met Trey over the phone through her job as a reporter, though nightly phone calls to the emergency dispatch center. Their relationship is sweet and tender, yet steamy. They are led into danger on the series of fires they are investigating - he as a firefighter, she as a reporter. As they get closer to the truth, danger closes in on them, threatening to break them apart, leading to a dramatic and exciting finale.
Charlotte is an anxiety-ridden newsroom worker. Trey is a rank-climbing firefighter. After a phone call sparks interest between the two, a passionate relationship begins. But when Trey’s past comes back to haunt him, can they get through it together?
This book is full of great characters, supportive friends, and a fiery romance. There are quite a few typos and grammatical errors which slowed me down while reading, but once those are overlooked, the story is one you want one to put down!
This book is so good. Charlotte, a assignment manager for the local news station has crippling anxiety. When her nightly routine turns into a chance meeting over the phone with a firefighter, things get interesting. Trey is anxious to put a face the voice over the phone, but with an arsonist on the loose, he's constantly busy. When these two finally meet, the chemistry between these two turns explosive. Things are heating up for these two and not all of it is good. This book has me hooked from the beginning. If you love romance with some suspense, then you will love this book!
Interesting story about a firefighter, Trey and his growing relationship with Charlotte, a local TV reporter. The characters were compelling, the story was well paced, and and certainly steam. There were a fair amount grammatical errors and spellcheck should have been this authors friend, but sadly was not. Even though this is the second book in a series, I had no issues reading this as a stand alone.
I really liked the idea of the book and the characters were pretty good, you could feel Charlotte's anxiety and she how she works through some of it and Trey seemed like a good guy. The storyline was good but I felt there was a bit too much info at times and I just wanted to know whats going on or going to happen next and Charlotte is quiet the sexual for such a shy girl. All in all I would read another book by the author to see how she goes with the next one.
Breaking is the 2nd book in The WQUZ series. It was a blistering, hot, sexy read. It was a page turner and hard to put down. I loved the storyline and the main characters. Of course what woman doesn't want to meet an alpha, who just happens to be a sexy firefighter. I most definitely will be reading the other books from this series in the future.

A steamy humorous romance with some suspense. A sexy firefighter and a quiet reporter, one 911 call and these two cross paths in a wonderfully written story. I liked the characters, the writing and just about everything this book had to offer. A great read.
My first read from this author and I really enjoyed it. I can totally relate to Charlotte and what she has to deal with her mom. It’s hard to build yourself up when some one is always trying to bring you down.
Great story. Charlotte the shy virgin and Trey the sex firefighter are a great combination. Love how Trey brings out Charlottes desire to face people. And the plot twist, loved it.
A slow start to this story, but it was good. An interesting story, that had me wanting to find out what happens. Charlotte and Trey had hot chemistry all from the sound of each others voices!!
