Book Boyfriend

I’ve completely had it with men. I’m done. And in case you were wondering, book boyfriends aren’t real. I should know because I write them. My name is Greer Hanson. I think I’ve lost my mojo. After having my heart broken, I can’t seem to write about romance or love. When my best friend and publisher recommends an inspiration vacation, I decide to give it a whirl. What’s the worst that could happen? Enter the perfect stranger. Patrick Fisher knocks me off my feet with his rugged good looks and charm. After one night with him, the words begin to flow. Since I know I’ll never see him again, I use him as my muse. But what do I do when my fantasy comes to life and that man steps right out of the pages of my book? Book Boyfriends can’t be real. At least, that’s what I keep telling myself. Am I willing to risk having my heart broken all over again? Maybe this time reality will be better than fiction. A second chance romance.

This book should come with a warning: May make you want to "snuggle up" to your significant other many times throughout reading. Before reading "Book Boyfriend", I knew I had to get my hands on it. The plot and cover drew me in and Dawn's words blew the story out of the water. I wonder if she knows how funny she is. I swear I ran the gambit of emotions as I read. I blushed more times than I could count, I laughed to the point of having to cover my mouth, and my stomach flipped constantly. My libido also now has whiplash thanks to this book, but I LOVE that an author could make me feel that among many other things. I had to fan myself often. Fisher is perfectly imperfect and Macy/Greer is strong and weak and funny and smart and together they're just two humans fighting for love and ugh. I swooned so much. I love their love story. I love the depth of their struggles, especially Macy/Greer's. I haven't read a book within 24 hours in months. Buy this book.

I’m headed to Book Bonanza this week and I challenged myself to read 5 new to me authors before attending. Today I’m sharing my thoughts on Dawn Chiletz’s Book Boyfriend.

Author Greer Hanson is in Florida trying to get her writing mojo back, she’s convinced it isn’t going to happen and is on her way to change her plane reservation home when she is run over by a hot guy on the beach. Patrick Fisher really didn’t mean to run over the woman on the beach, but he quickly realizes she’s not only beautiful but funny and not at all interested. Knowing he needs more time with her he finagles dinner which turns into an interesting evening but then she ghosts him with a fake number.

I liked Greer a lot even though her lack of self esteem got a bit old. She was funny, sweet, talented, and going places in her career so I would have liked to see her realize her worth at some point despite how her creep of an ex made her feel. Fisher reenters her life in an unusual way and it was fun watching them fall into a relationship. Fisher had to work hard to earn Greer’s trust and it wasn’t easy, but the more time they spent together the more she realized he was a good man who kept his promises. I liked them together, but I do feel that Fisher put more into the relationship that Greer and it was a bit one sided for a good part of the book.

Book Boyfriend was a sweet, sexy, and fun romance and I will be checking out more of Ms. Chiltez’s work in the future.

I love it when a friend recommends a book that they loved, and I read it and enjoyed it as much as they did! Thank you, Marie Saunders!!!

Being my first book by this author and going in totally blind, this book was just what I needed. Second chance romance with a bit of comedy throughout.

Greer Hanson has been burned by her now ex-husband. Surviving now on her own, because who wants to be burned again by another man. Writing romance books is what she does and has given herself a little vacation to the beach to help her mojo in writing her next release.

When she gets knocked down by the perfect muse, her fingers fly! Typing out the perfect book. Chalking up the experience as she will never see him again, she writes the #1 book of the year. Next step is bringing the book to life on the big screen.

Fisher is a dream come true! Just like any book boyfriend would be. But is that really who he is? Or does the book boyfriend come out once he reads the book too?

This was a really fun, page turning, quick read that flew by. From the Tacos, to the shells, to the dress, to the flight, to the private orchestra, to the night of karaoke. This book had it all. Thank you again Marie for the great recommendation!!!

This was fun and flirty and I really enjoyed it! It was so original and unlike anything I’ve read before!

One of my favorite things is that the heroine is an author and has a very logical mind. She thought logically about everything... and since that’s how I think, I really liked it. (In some parts, I did think she needed to just stop thinking and feel but whatevs 🤷🏼‍♀️)

I did think that they were a bit immature in their inner thoughts and emotional...ness. (It’s late, I’m tired and forget words.)

One of my favorite things in the entire world is laughing out loud while reading a romantic comedy. When an author's words can plaster a smile on my face and make me giggle like a school girl from the very first chapter, I always know that the book is going to be special.

Book Boyfriend was hilarious, mysterious, and adorably sweet. It left me wanting more of Fisher and Greer's story. It had me wishing that my life could be a Dawn L. Chiletz novel. That I could be written inside one of the worlds that she creates inside of her head. Because her brain is brilliant. Her characters are charming and witty and feel so real that you'll never want to leave them behind.

So like every other Dawn L. Chiletz novel I have ever read, I'm sad to see this one end. I love getting lost inside of these characters, feeling like I have a new group of best friends to add to my never ending fictional list. And let's not forget my newest Book Boyfriend Patrick Fisher, he could not have been more perfect!

So don't hesitate to pick up this book. And after you get it, I dare you not to laugh out loud while you're reading. Because you will not be disappointed by Book Boyfriend. The only bad thing about it was getting to the end and wondering when I'll find another book as hilarious as this one!

I don't know about you, but I am LOVING this trend of writers meeting and falling in love with their muse!! If you haven't read any, after you read Book Boyfriend, make sure you pick up #1 Muse by T. Gephart and Switch Stance co-written by M.E. Carter and Andrea Johnston.

First of all I have been a huge fan of Dawn L. Chiletz since meeting her at a singing two years ago and I have read everything she has written since that time. Her writing is always exceptional and Book Boyfriend was no exception.

Book Boyfriend made me smile something fierce, Fisher is exactly what book boyfriends should be made or even real life boyfriends. Fisher and Greer had such a unique story line that was refreshing and had me giggling. I loved that once Fisher dropped the act and stopped trying to be exactly what he thought that Greer wanted and he was himself that he was even more adorable and perfect.

I enjoyed watching Greer go from insecure to believing that she was worth it and beautiful the way she is and that Fisher was able to show her that even if it took her longer to believe it than I would have liked. Book Boyfriend is a story that from the outside you think might just be a fluffy funny read is really so much more than that I loved it, angst and all.

I can sit here and type all the good things about the story all day, but then I would be taking away from your experience, so do yourself a favor and Book Boyfriend and dive in today!

Another Chiletz book that I absolutely LOVED! She has a way of making her characters so real and relatable, that you can't help but love them!

Greer has come off a marriage that left a bad taste for men in her mouth. It has also messed with her writing and she's struggling to write her next book. She goes off on a little beach getaway hoping it will get her mojo going! And it works - but maybe it's not her writing mojo (IF you know what I mean!).

Fisher runs into Greer on the beach. Literally! Sparks fly and we definitely see something. Then poof - Greer heads home.

Her writing mojo returns and her book is a smash. And what comes next is a fun game of cat and mouse!

A fun, flirty romance!

Omg this was so beyond adorable! My first Dawn L Chiletz book and I’m hooked. I thought this book was cute and fun and sweet! There were several times I looked to my husband and said "This. This is how you should be. Just like this!" He looked at me and thought I was insane of course LOL.

Seriously though, this story had a smile on my face the whole time. I will say there were moments that felt a bit slow and I wanted juuuust a little something extra but it certainly didn't take away from the story. I'm *hoping*, based on how it ended, that we might get MORE! (No worries though, there is no cliffy...but it did give room for another book if Dawn chose to write one. WRITE ONE, DAWN!!!! haha)

I will definitely pick up another book by Dawn because I enjoyed her writing style.

As usual, Dawn L. Chiletz has written another bloody great book.
The main character, like all of us, has been used, lied to and hurt before. Her trust of men is non existent. The way she always thinks the worse in any situation is a pretty stock standard response that we've all been through before.
But, upon meeting a random bloke, she uses him as her muse in her new book - what a way to get over writer's block!!
The issues that the main character has rears their ugliness up throughout the book..but this bloke is more than just a hot book boyfriend!!
Hoping there's a follow up book with some of the other characters... I think young Chole truly deserves her own story!!

Tldr: If I was rating this just on individual scenes from before the big drama I would've liked but not loved it, but the way the drama was handled and story as a whole just didn't really do much for me.
This was a really weird read. It had little pockets of greatness then wild extremes everywhere else. I liked Fisher a lot. He was sweet and charming, but most of his character was at the surface. He was someone's idea of a book boyfriend but he wasn't developed enough to feel like a real person that I would fall in love with, though I did swoon at many of his actions. It's so often that a woman is just the accessory to a man and not her own person, but though it wasn't quite as repulsive it didn't make for any better of a read to have that flip flopped. The heroine was a hot fucking mess and I needed her to get herself together somewhere. She had one bad experience. Ok be hurt, be devastated. But to be that bitter? I've been betrayed by nearly everyone I have ever cared about and I'm still at least a jot more trusting than her, and I acknowledge that my trust issues are mine and that I shouldn't let them mess with other people. And she's mean about it too. She seems to have some self esteem issues but rather than call her husband's mistress out on her actions she talks about how old and ugly she was. Truthfully I never really got why Fisher was so into her, she's not a great human being. Then there's the whole love thing. First of all it happens so fast I thought I'd skipped several chapters.
Then there was the disbelief that she could say she loved him when just the night before she was certain he would stand her up even though he called to tell her he'd be late and specifically reassured her he wouldn't let her down. You can't have love without trust and this hag wouldn't know trust if it backhanded her. A lot of the side characters act really extra. Most examples would be spoilers but one would be that the bodyguard she hires for like less than a week gives Fisher attitude way later. He was just a hired gun not like friends with her or anything why would a professional act like that because...idk he thought the guy was too clean or something? It was just one weird extreme. The present tense narrative was overall not as obnoxious as it usually is but it made the sex scenes feel a little like an instruction manual aka not sexy (though kudos for mentioning real life things like using a condom and refractory periods).

Thanks to the author for giving me ARC in exchange for honest review.
This is the first time I read Dawn L. Chiletz and what I've read has blown me away. I swear I will read more of this author.

At first, I was drawn by the cover and the excerpt, how can a woman ever felt so bad about men? Greer somehow reflects somethings in me. No, I'm not a writer...yet and yes, I do prefer imaginary world, it is better than reality. At least I can imagine everything to be in my way. But I do know I am in the real world.
The way Dawn L writes about Greer is superb, every woman wants a book boyfriend, and seriously hard to find one perfect man in reality.

Somehow Patrick Fisher appears to check all the boxes for a perfect man, handsome, funny, cute. What he felt for Greer is real, what he did for Greer is so warming. I like how Fisher always tries to make Greer feel loved and secure. Trust is the biggest issue of Greer but Fisher has a way around it and got Greer's heart.

I love how the story goes, I too, as a woman, wish someone can try to be someone I've read about. A book is always more romantic than reality. All the emotions from the book is superb, Dawn L's writing is another level for me. I truly fell in love with the characters and the book. Especially Luna, a best friend who knows no boundary.

4.9 stars for this book, worth to keep for sure. The cover is fabulous, the content is fabulous, the characters are fabulous too. Anything not good about this book? I don't recall I read anything I didn't enjoy. That 0.1 star missing is I want that cover to be a bed cover, can the publisher/ author arrange it? I would love to have a bead sheet of this book cover.
Seriously suggest everyone to read this, it's relaxing and enjoyable~
Read it on weekends, feel even more better ;)

THIS WOMAN IS AMAZING!!!!! I've known Dawn for a few years now and she's one of THE BEST PEOPLE I've ever known. This book shows just how amazing she is! The story line is pretty much what every author wishes could happen! LOL

I LOVE Greer so much in this book! She is someone that we've all been or someone we've known and she really took like by the balls and said I CAN DO THIS! She learned how to live her life after a loss, even if it wasn't fully put together. She did what a lot of us aren't able to do, and I can't help but envy that! Then we have Fisher, and he's basically every guy we've ever wanted. Even if it is only a quick fling on a vacation. The lengths he went to for Greer was so damn admirable! I would give anything for a man to want and need my attention that bad! The little things he did for her were so romantic and absolutely adorable.

My favorite part of this story was how everyone helped everyone. Chloe and Luna were so amazing as supporting characters, without these two the book wouldn't be the same at all. It's the relationships like the ones of Fisher and Chloe, Luna and Greer and all of the combinations, they really made this book so real and take it to the next level. By the end of this book I felt like all of these characters were my best friends, like I was part of their circle. It takes some damn good writing to make you feel like that. And Dawn, you do some damn good writing.

I am a BIG fan of Dawn L. Chiletz and even though I love her rom-com’s the best, this second chance contemporary romance is pretty good too. It does have some great lines to keep you laughing but it is also a lot deeper than I was expecting with some angst and drama.

I enjoyed the storyline of an author breaking a writing draught by using a hook up of a total stranger on holidays and making him her new muse. Greer has had some hardships in her life which has given her some trust issues, but the one thing that is going well is her writing and a movie deal. Everyone falls for a book boyfriend but no one has ever had him come to life until now. Fisher whilst jogging along a beach, smacks right into Greer and they spend the night getting to know each other and bonding over tacos. He has no idea what is to come when a new book hits the stands a few months later.

This is a quick read of a couple falling hard and fast but miscommunication stuffs things up. It’s not easy for Greer to trust with being stung badly before, and it will take some doing on both parts to mend the hurt that both received from each other. It felt a lot like life was imitating art with certain parts of this book and that some demons were expelled in writing it. I certainly felt for Greer and what she went through. At times I questioned Fisher’s motivation but he was such a sweetie and a true romantic I couldn’t help but fall for this book boyfriend.

I received an Advanced Readers Copy of Book Boyfriend.

This book needs a disclaimer. It feels like all your fantasies of having your Book Boyfriend being a real person just came true!

Greer/Macy is an incredibly relatable character, minus the fact that she suppose to be a NY Times Best selling author.

So many times in her head she breaks out in to song! Who else does that?! Hahaha!
She has trust issues due to a past relationship but Fisher does everything he can to break down her walls and get her to love him!

Fisher ends up being better “in real life” than she could’ve written in a book.

Swooon!

Thank you Dawn for allowing me to read this early!

When I heard Dawn was writing another book, I knew I had to read it immediately. She is one of my favorite authors, and everything she writes is golden.

Book Boyfriend was absolutely beautiful.

Greer is an author who writes the perfect man into each of her books. She's also a 30-something who doesn't believe the perfect man actually exists. You can thank her skeevy ex for that.

That is until a stranger literally runs into her. He's dreamy, polite, chivalrous...all the things a book boyfriend is. But he's not real, obviously. No man is ever that incredible.

One night. One moment. That's all it takes for Greer to become a best selling author again. Things start to fall into her lap. And the man who inspired the newest BBF finds his way back to her.

Not everyone will be able to personally understand Greer's emotions or behaviors throughout the book, but I don't think that takes away from the story at all. Dawn writes these things in such a way that people can truly feel Greer's pain or her confusion, and they can try to understand why she is the way she is. It's hard to explain this without spoiling anything.

At no point was I bored. I read BBF in less than 24 hours, which is not something I typically do. When a story is so captivating that I can't put it down even when I should be sleeping, I know it's going to become a new favorite.

I am never disappointed by Dawn's work. Her writing is absolutely phenomenal and it gets better with every new book. She makes me laugh, cry, swoon...she really makes me feel.

This line was my favorite and it may have caused me to act like something was in my eye...

"'What if I don’t know what I want? What if I write what I think women want, but what we really want . . . what we need . . . is simply to be looked at the way you’re looking at me right now?'"

And boom. 5 stars because she made me cry and she made my heart soar.

Dawn Chiletz has topped herself once again. I discovered her at a signing and fell in love with her writing and have since devoured all of her books. Book Boyfriend is no exception. Reading her books makes me want to not stop reading but then I don’t want to get to the end too quickly. This story was absolutely fabulous and I loved every word and every sentence. Fisher and Greer’s story made me laugh (I may have even gigglesnorted out loud). I’m sad that I’ve finished but look forward to the next. I recommend this book with every fiber of my being.

I liked the overall plot of the book, but there was a trans character (total side character, the love interest’s best friend), and while Chloe was great-mostly-the main character asks some really insensitive questions about surgical procedures and such, and then Chloe uses her trans status to embarrass/ gross out the MC’s douchey ex, which is just ...problematic AF. Can we *not* weaponize gender identity? And maybe also not normalize asking highly invasive questions about the genitals of someone you just met?

Book Boyfriend by Dawn L Chiletz
4 stars!!!

“Real men lie and cheat and break your heart. Book boyfriends will always be better than reality.”

Dawn L Chiletz never fails to deliver, and Book Boyfriend is no different. We all know writers have that infamous writer's block, and Dawn L Chiletz delivers a book with the best ever remedy for such an affliction. This was a real feel-good read; I laughed, I cried, I had a smile from ear to ear, but most of all I fell in love with two of the most endearing characters.

“I’d rather have my fabulous fiction over a disappointing reality any day.”

Greer Hanson goes away on vacation with the hope of regaining her writing mojo after heartbreak has left her with the biggest case of writer's block. A literal bump into a stranger leads to the best night of her life and a new muse. A muse that is so good that she ends up writing the biggest selling book of the year that is just about to be made into a movie.

“Books have always been my escape. I can leave my life behind and get lost in someone else’s. I can fall in love with a man covered in perfect words and actions.”

Patrick Fisher is the man that book boyfriends are made from and after his best friend rambles about this book she has just read, he knows that there are some eery similarities to the woman he spent a night with a while ago. Reading the book, Patrick Fisher is left without no doubt that this book was definitely the woman he hasn’t been able to get out of his mind and hatched a plan to get back into her life.

“You already thought I was a crazy stalker. I didn’t want you to know I was already in love with you from the first page.”

When Greer’s book suddenly becomes a reality, is this a stalker or could this be the one man she hasn’t been able to stop thinking about either? However, is this man for real or is he just reenacting how Greer imagines a real book boyfriend should be?

Book Boyfriend was a real feel-good read, as I said above, the smiles were real, the swoons were many, and these two just stole my hopeless romantic reader's heart. Once again, Dawn Chiletz’s ever-present humour was prevalent throughout, and the laughs were plentiful as these two navigate their own paths to a happy ever after. A fantastic read for a bookworm.

“You stepped out of a book and showed me reality was better than fiction.”

This is the first book I’ve read by Dawn Chiletz and I am so glad I did. It’s about Greer Hanson, an author on an inspirational vacation in the Florida Keys to help her focus on writing her next romance and mend her broken heart as her ex-husband cheated on her.

She meets the very good looking and charming Patrick Fisher on the beach, and he turns out to be her muse. Is he for real? Do “Book Boyfriends” really exist? In the case of Fisher (as he likes to be called) it does! He’s not only hot and handsome, he’s caring, thoughtful, funny, sweet, sincere, and supportive of his hilarious friend, Chloe.

When they part ways and head back to their real life, Greer’s book goes on to be a best-seller, with the first few chapters mirroring the real-life relationship between the two of them. I loved their first date at the taco truck! Fisher then goes to great lengths to make her believe in romance and to trust him. There were times I didn’t trust his motivation, but it all works out in the end. Even though he explained it in the book, I was a bit confused as to how and when he knew she was a writer. Was it when he saw her face on the back of the book after they had met, or did he know who she was when he met her on the beach? Especially since she gave him her real name vs. her author name.

This book is filled with humor, tension, sexy times, and lots of tenderness. Greer is very hesitant to begin a relationship because of her past and the way she treated him at times bothered me a bit. I liked how he was able to break down her walls, and at the end when they were honest with their feelings, asked for forgiveness, and committed to making it work.

First of all, can we just swoon over this cover???? And a book with the title, Book Boyfriend?!! PERFECT!

From the first chapter I was hooked! Dawn did an amazing job with immediately gaining my interest for this story. Greer and Fisher are the perfect combination for leading characters! Dawn has got into all of our heads and has written a book that we all can picture ourselves a part of!

This amazingly hilarious, sweet and swoony book will no doubt leave you with the feels! Every page, every chapter had me wishing I was in this book! Patrick Fisher is the most perfect book boyfriend that I may deem as my new book husband! He had me with doe eyes from the beginning!

We are all Greer. Seriously! If you have ever picked up a romance novel with a bit of banter and laughter, she is us! She writes romance novels and Fisher is her muse. Little does she know, maybe if she is hopeful and patient, she too will get her HEA that we all read about. But then again, we can all be stubborn, right?

I don't want to give too much away. You can read the blurb and you will know immediately that you will need to read this book. This book was written for all of us who love a good love story. It was written with us readers in mind. Heck, it was written with authors in mind too! Just download it already and devour all the words! I loved it so much!

I love this book! These characters were great and the story itself was so original. A reader and author's dream. Greer is an author who is on a mini vacation for inspiration. She meets Fisher when he runs into her. He seems to good to be true. He seems like a book boyfriend she would create. But he is real. He pursues her and she keeps denying him to guard her heart. But he wins her over and they have a memorable encounter. She gives him a fake number and wants to keep as a memory. But she uses him as the inspiration for her next book that ends up being her best selling one. Now the book she wrote seems to be coming to life. Fisher is slowly showing her that not all men are like her scumbag ex husband. But trust is an issue. And they both make decisions that could ruin their happiness. I fell in love with this story right away. Greer cracked me up. The things she said to push Fisher away and her own internal thoughts were so clever and funny. And Fisher! He had me falling for him as Greer was. He totally was the perfect book boyfriend. He is proof that there are good men still out there and the jerks shouldn't be the face for all relationships. This book had me hooked from start to finish. I finished it one day. I couldn't put it down!

5 freaking amazing stars

“Book boyfriends will always be better than reality.”

I love when the two main characters meet in the first chapter! It gives me more time to fall for them!
Falling for Fisher was no problem at all! Y’all!!!!! He’s the ultimate book boyfriend. I guess we all need to go to the beach and get knocked over by a man! Fingers crossed he’s just like Fisher!

I LOVE this authors writing! This is so light hearted and I was smiling through out.
“There are no fish in this sea, Fisher. You should take your rod and move on to bigger oceans.” So perfect and funny!

I wish I could highlight every part of this book! It’s just so amazing and refreshing. It’s just an all around great book for the soul!

This book brings everything to light in the book world. We, every human, wants the fantasy. Reading brings that just a little closer to us but when you find out that “Book boyfriends are fun, but real men are even better,” it rings so true and blows the fantasy out of the way!

I just LOVED this book! Really and truly! Everyone NEEDS to pick this book up and read it. It’s amazing!

“Don’t ever get on your knees in front of me again unless we’re being intimate. You should never, ever have to beg me to give you anything. Everything I have is yours, including my heart.”

Fuck me sideways is what came to mind when reading this. I mean, dammmmn Fisher is such a MAN!!!!

Ugh y’all I just want to keep talking about how amazing this book was. I need more from this author!

“I love Kasey. She’s like, my favorite character of all time. I love how feisty and sexy she is. I wish I could be more like her.” Girl me too, me too!
