Intriguing Book

This was even better than the first. I like the way the old story and the new story twine together so well. Fine is a little too good to be true, but that certainly helps her solve cases.

Much Better Than Book 1: Strong FBI Drama.

Most of the trivial details and scattered plotlines in the first Chloe Fine novel, thankfully were not repeated in Book 2, making this a fast, fun read. As such, I recommend skipping the first book and just starting with this one. Nothing from Book 1 is required to enjoy or make sense of this well-written suspense.

Blake Pierce creates a fast moving series of events in the FBI's investigation of the murder of Washington DC area nanny, having strange political connections. As a newbie agent, Chloe takes on her first official investigation with a strong-willed and competitive partner, who is also a new agent. Tensions quickly build between the two women, each having her own strengths, while both questioning the intentions of the other. Trouble waiting to happen. Yikes!

The investigation quickly reveals several possible killers, making this short crime procedural easy to follow and hard to put down. This is a great weekend or long-flight escape read with many surprises and unexpected revelations.

The author's storytelling creates a well-defined plotline with vivid narrative descriptions and believable dialogues, that bring characters to life, while adding tensions and unexpected challenges. Although this book has a major plotline that dominates the story, Chloe's personal backstory adds meaningful interest and connections to the series, which I now intend to continue reading.

The book's primary weakness, which I attribute to artistic license, has the FBI Director too closely involved in Chloe's day-to-day activities, something implausible for an agency having over 35,000 employees, although essential to the storyline. Oh well!

One plus to this fictional account was Audible's dramatic narration supplement that made my reading journey more adventurous and exciting.

So glad I did not stop reading after Book 1.

Given the fact I gave the first book "Next Door" by Blake Pierce a 4* I was very disappointed with "A Neighbor's Lie #2 giving it a 2*. Reasons being was the story I felt the #1 books ending was good given the fact the "drama" and the "breakthrough". I was disappointed that it didn't correlate w/ the direction of the #2 book which was solid in my mind. Whereas the characters were antagonist from the start and through out the most of the book so whatever 'breakthrough' they had was gone. I like the beginning but felt like really? why?

I listened to both book. #1 Narrated by Laura Bannister and the #2 by Ulka Mohanty.
Unfortunately, I felt Ulka voice with all the character did not help the rating as well...
Laura's voice was perfect!
I was looking forward to this series but won't be finishing it due to Laura Bannister not being the narrator.:(

Ok, I enjoyed the first one, but this time is really putting me if. Probably will be done with Chloe fine after this.

Firstly (part 1 spoiler). So we learn that the dad didn't really kill the mom, and went to jail to save his girlfriend. The sisters seem to both be pissed off about the affair, but not about the fact that the dad not went to jail to save his girlfriend, but apparently also felt like giving up his two 10 year old daughters was a fair trade? I mean, we get from the story that he's an asshole, but how is it that both sisters don't seem to be upset about that part.

Next, I'm writing this in the middle of reading because there was a part that annoyed me where apparently someone confused pregnancy with a UTI or viceversa. This book is written by a woman and those two things feel nothing the same.

Normally I like this author, but seems she really isn't at her best here

Brilliant

This is the second book in the Chloe Fine series, and it does not disappoint. Another book that is hard to put down. Pierce weaves the story of a nanny murder in the family she cares for home. Is it a simple break in home wrong or is there something more sinister going on? When they think they have their suspect they are thrown a curve ball that makes them reassess what they have learnt so far. Throw in Chloe's partner being shot at, the business with her father coming back up and trying g to build a stronger relationship with her sister Danielle into the mix and all the twists and turns of the case. Well you will be kept on your toes. Fantastic read and can not weight to read the next in the series.

A nanny is killed in the home of her employers. A new FBI agent assigned to the department gets the case. Eager to do well on her first case, she is excited, terrified and determined to do her best to solve crime. The first part of the investigation of the case seems to lead to an innocent, well liked nanny being murdered and there’s no explanation. As the case proceeds, evidence is revealed showing that all was not perfect in this neighborhood and with the nanny. The suspect list increases daily and just when the FBI thinks they have the case solved, another unexpected twist takes them in another direction.

Chloe Fine has made herself a place in the reading part of my brain. She and Claire Wolfe, from the Jamie Millen series, are both badass detectives with a truck load of traumatic family history. While there aren’t as many plot twists as I would like, the detective element doesn’t fail to make me keep reading. I hope the last 4 books in this series are as good as the first 2, but hope that there is more suspense as time continues.

This one was about a small town murder. Another victim of love. A crime of passion, and insanity. I wish the killer had been more involved since the beginning. She kind of came out of nowhere.

While I enjoyed this book it was not as good as what I thought it would be.

To start why did Steven have to come back into it? With such a small point to the story.

Also I found the way it ended felt really rushed and not really that great. I CANNOT think why I was just disappointed.

And lastly I don't get the sister relationship. Why is she so bitchy but than I the k maybe that it will uncover why in the next book.

The rest of the book I was really into and loved.

Love this series!

Chloe Fine, a rookie FBI agent on a murder case with the handsome agent Moulton as her partner. A murder of a woman who was in politics in Washington D.C. but who is now a nanny. What are her secrets? Why such a change in employment and do the answers lead to her murderer?
Another great story by Blake Pierce. This one has more typos than more recent work but don't let that stop you.

Well i completed reading this book yesterday and i would say that it's somewhere between decent and one thing that i liked about this book is that it's gains the interest of the reader the beggining contrary to all the other books i have read till now the book was kind of connected to the previous book in this series( next door ) but i still don't understand why the title of the book is the neighbours lie anyway I would say that the book is good and better than (next door) and I would also recommend anyone to read it since it doesn't have useless erotics and all but to read this book you should read the earlier book of this series first since they are kind of connected at last I would say that it took me 7 hours to complete this book and those 7 hours were worth it,

Psychological suspense

A Neighbor’s Lie, book number two in the Chloe Fine psychological suspense thriller is very good. FBI Agent, Chloe Fine, finds herself with a new partner on this latest case. Her old partner is recovering from a gunshot wound and her new partner is someone she’s been crushing on. How will that work out? Read this latest thriller to find out!

Chloe is a new FBI agent who’s been thrown into a case with VCAP.
Her first day on the job she gets shot at, saved the life of her partner and discovers some interesting clues to help solve her case. She has 48 hrs to solve this case, will she be able to figure it out in time?
I knew who did it fairly quickly do you think you can solve the mystery?

The constant dithering that Cloe suffers in her mind

Is almost tiresome. I know that is supposed to be the crux of a psychological thriller, for the reader to feel more vested in the character's internal process.

I enjoyed the novels otherwise, and will read the series until and unless Cloe gets on my nerves.

Elementary style writing and plot

This is the second Blake Pierce book I've read and I've found they are written in an elementary style. The conversations between characters is something a 5th grader would have written. Also, the editing is horrible!! How hard is it for an editor to clean up a submission? Terrible, don't waste your money.

I read the Kindle version. I liked the book but .... did anyone proof read it? There were enough errors to annoy me which detracted from my enjoyment. In one place, the name that should have been Kim was Chloe which didn’t make sense at all. Lots of either typos or carelessness. Other than that it was quite good,

Quelle surprise

Just when I think I have the mystery of who killed the nanny the door opens and it is totally someone unexpected. Drats I'll never be a detective but I will continue reading about Agent Fine and her mysteries whether on the job or in her personal life. Highly recommend .

Entertaining and twisted! Though not as good as the first installment, however, there is enough conspiracy, intertwining, and Mayham, that the main author, Chloe seems to always get involved in. There’s another story to her sister, Danielle‘s hatred to a father that I can’t wait to see what the real reason is but overall highly enjoyed the book and cannot wait to read the next one.

I loved this audiobook. Chloe is coming into her own with each book and I enjoyed the way the other characters were fleshed out by the author. I also enjoyed the plot including the continuation of some of the plot from book one. I can’t wait to read the next book. I would also like to add I really enjoyed the narrator.

This was the second in the Chloe Fine series. I have not read the first but that story was woven in this second book so well that I had no problem keeping up. I will definitely read the third book. It was a good mystery as well as interesting characters.
