Live your Craft every day with Llewellyn's Witches' Companion. This indispensable guide will keep you one step ahead of the latest witchy trends, practices, and issues.
Llewellyn George started his publishing company in Portland, Oregon in 1901, concentrating Astrological books and annuals. In 1961, Carl L. Weschcke of St. Paul, Minnesota purchased the company and relocated it to the Midwest.
Llewellyn is the world’s oldest and largest independent publisher of books for body, mind, and spirit.
Like all of Llewellyn's Witches' Companion, this book is fantastic. It has contributions from several members of our pagan communities, on a very wide array of topics from tips with infants, protection on the go, city-living tips for witches, help in dealing with traumas in a magical way, among lots of other articles.
I highly recommend getting this Companion every year, to have a good collection of articles from different practitioners of different paths and traditions and with lots to teach you! :)
So really, this has a star taken off of it because a lot of the things discussed in this book kind of feel like common sense to me. However, I'm aware that not everyone's knowledge or experiences are the same, and therefore I'm sure that some of these chapters will be just as helpful to others as the Self-Care chapters were for me.
I absolutely love the feel of this book in my hands, the smell of the pages, and the artwork. It felt like real, wholesome witches were giving me a hug and reminding me that my practice and beliefs are my own, but also that I never have to feel alone.
If all you want is the articles, you're good. If you wanted to see the astrological signs and moon phases on the calendar, Google it because the image quality of these pages is garbage. I buy ebooks because I need to adjust text and zoom into pictures: my eyes aren't good. I am very disappointed and inclined to not bother with Llewellyn books anymore if this is what I can expect for my money.
A good guide for beginners, but the subject matter is a bit all over the place. I especially enjoyed the chapters about protective "cards" and rituals to provide structure to your week. As someone who works at home, I found rituals providing structure quite useful. Friendly tone.
This was a very interesting read. Honestly, I thought I was in for a very strange read. What I didn't expect to read were recipes for natural lotions and psychological tricks and tips. This was very informative!
