My Review
Meet Alice, in two minds about her relationship with her "boyfriend" travelling back and forth to see him with not a lot of communication in between. On her last flight home she meets a man who gives her an opportunity that changes life as she knows it.
From a model shoot and a brief fling with modelling Alice finds herself globe trotting, a journey of self discovery and personal growth. As well as finding out who she is and what she wants she meets some people along the way who make a lasting impression and helps her decide which direction she wants to go next.
Friendship, sex, light erotica, self discovery, personal journey and wee glimpses and a few places in the world she visits. "Into the Glorious Unknown" is a relatively light read that I think some readers will connect with on a deeper level, especially those looking for change or a bit of adventure/escapism. We get to see Alice initially being not very confident nor sure of who she is or what she wants to developing into a confident sexual woman who knows her worth and sets her cap at what she wants.
Perfect for poolside reading, a bit of escapism or if you are having a wee travel adventure yourself. The author does a fair bit of travelling herself, would be interesting to see how much she has drawn from her own experiences and what she is planning next, 3/5 for me this time.
Just could not stop reading it to the end! More please?
I spent a summer hitch hiking through Europe a long time ago so this story brought back memories, but I have to admit my travels didn't come close to being in Anna' league.s
A very well-written book! The wording is smooth and is leading you through the story so that you want to follow it and you don't stumble upon any strange narration, so it's a very enjoyable reading. The story is emotionally fresh and sincere and it easily makes you believe all that is written in the book. I liked the heroine, her character is undergoing changes through the story so it's not a frozen personage. The sex\erotic scenes are very captivating! And, at the top of it all, it is funny to read. A kind of book you need to get away from an everyday routine without leaving your bed)
It's a interesting, captivating story. A young woman who is searching for a direction. She is fancy free, no responsibilities other than figuring out how to support her dreams of following her dreams. She enjoys the moments as they come, doesn't think too hard about the future. I admire her positive energy and how she does not give up. And she really opens up her mind to new experiences and loved freely. I liked the story! She models strength, courage and independence.
A very enjoyable read! It's like 'Eat Pray Love' but younger and with more sex. Very inspiring. And it made me look at some things from a completely different angle.
Fresh, authentic, not predictable. In some ways a travel book, but the journey is as much inward as outward. Leva displays great courage and authenticity in exposing deep currents of human emotions that many fear to encounter much less to express. Few and far between are the books and authors who dare to go to such raw, honest and beautiful levels of human experience that are within all of us but rarely are given opportunity to see the light of day. Example: “She has to put her thick skin back on. Being a butterfly in this country is dangerous. She needs to protect the precious powder on her wings.” Her lyrical gift reminded me at times of Jeanette Winterson’s Written On the Body. I am truly excited to see what Leva writes next.
