The best volume of this series so far! (Well, only one to go... anyway!) Ran starts the university but her anxiety and self-doubt come back to trouble her. She has been doing well with the riding club people who generally are friendly and supportive but the people in the university aren't always so kind. Progress with Tsugaru also hits a wall.
I really really liked all the conversations Ran and other people had about friendships and interacting with people in general! It rang so true. People have different ways of handling social situations and often act differently in different groups, sometimes knowingly, sometimes just unconsciously.
And Ran was trying so hard! Not always with very good reasoning behind her actions (it's not often easy to reason with anxious feelings) but she learned a lot in this volume. And overcame many things! But Sayuri gave the most important advice in this volume: trying *too* hard can burn you out, some things take time and patience to change.
These human relationship issues were neatly mirrored in Ran and Tsugaru and them trying to find trust in each other.
This volume brought some typical school drama with Maekanae but it was kind of subverted which was good writing in my opinion. The volume was paced very well too. Most of the characters feel realistic. There is quite a lot reaction faces but those aren't taking away the impact of the more serious moments.
Generally the art is fine although not the most impressive out there by any means. Sometimes the faces look a bit off but it's not that bad really.
I highly recommend this series!
