Is it just me who thinks that Hakamada is more like the usual dorky friend of shoujo manga MCs instead of the charismatic rival love interest? Just me? Okay. Anyway, let me just say that the festival scene in chapter 37 and the farewell scene in chapter 41 are definitely the highlights of this volume!

I'm not completely sure what chapters are in these volumes anymore. I'm really just going off on whatever I see. HAHAHA. I'll have to do another check if I ever see these volumes in person.

Volume 7 : 36-40

HAHAHA. Awww. The little sisters came to Ryuuhoko's festival. HAHA. And then they get to witness their older sister about to kiss some tall woman. HAHA.

NODA-KUNNN. He's so cute, too. HAHA. He's the sweet, innocent boy that we have to take care of.

HAHA. That hand holding. "I'll just let go when we pass someone we know". HAHAA. Then Hakamada shows up. They let go. Naruse grabs hold again. HAHA.

I actually did a double take on Machida's happy face when she hugs Himeno. Omg. she's so cute.

YAAAA. Slap those boys on the back, Machida. She's like the Queen sending her troops off to war. HAHA.

Danggg. And they lost to Misuzu. I really like that this manga doesn't just let the main team win all the time. It makes it seem really realistic in that sense. HAHA. But mannn. Hakamada and his three-pointer, mang. He's really good.

Whelp. Chapter 40. I don't know if this is still the seventh volume and if there's going to be more added to it. iono. We'll see. For now, i'm caught up. HELL, YASSS.

Wie nah können Freude und Leid beieinander liegen? Dieser Band hatte in sich so viele tolle Momente (vor allem zwischen Yuki & Sho), die mich wirklich berührt haben. Zeitgleich wurde es aber zum Ende hin auch wirklich traurig und es hat mich sehr viel Kraft gekostet, die Tränen zurückzuhalten. Yukis letzte Tage als Managerin, der Abschied vom Team und die Worte von Sho haben mich einfach überwältigt. 🥺😭 Ich bin gespannt, wo die Reise hingeht, jetzt wo Yuki nicht mehr fester Bestandteil des Teams ist.

Und was war das bitte für eine Aktion von Shizuka? Ich konnte ihn ja anfangs wirklich gut leiden, aber seine Charakterentwicklung geht ja absolut in die falsche Richtung. Sein Umgang mit Yuki ist extremst von Rivialiät geprägt und macht ihn total unsympathisch. Eww.

Cheeky Brat is a thoroughly enjoyable young romance. Yuki is the high school basketball team manager, a very stoic and dedicated individual who is always professional in her job and in her personal life. Stumbling upon her when she's showing an unusual bit of emotion, Haruse, the team's cheeky playboy, is intrigued with Yuki and pursues her romantically. Their romance continues to be about opposites that attract. Her dedication to avoiding romance is infuriating, but it doesn't make it any less enjoyable to read. I see many comparisons to Maid Sama, but My Little Monster also comes to mind. I enjoyed the story, and especially the likeably awkward third point on the love triangle. Additionally, the illustrations, especially those of the basketball players, are excellent.

When Yuki said and I quote back

”is dating supposed to wear you out this much?”

I can’t stop laughing. After both of them confirm their relationship, Naruse is becoming extra crazy with his antics to seduce Yuki. It was so cute and funny the way both of them trying to figure how relationship suppose to work while at the same time living their school life to the fullest.

Anyway I can see some changes in Hakamuda… now I can’t choose between the first ML or the second because Hakamuda is slowly attracting my eyes.

In volume 7, Yuki and Naruse have officially begun dating, but Yuki wants to keep it a secret--it's too embarrassing to announce it to everyone! And there's still a lot to do: the school festival is coming up, and the Winter Cup is about to begin. It's the final tournament for the third-years...

The more I read this, the more I think about Naruse's personality. He is pushy and a little brash, but in some ways I think he's maybe a little more mature than Yuki. Future chapters shall reveal whether or not I'm right.

Of course it was good. But it could’ve been better. These are my comfort reads (quite literally woke up from a bad dream and started reading) so they will likely never get below a 4 stars. This one felt like there was no big hoo-rah to close it off. I was hoping Yuki would at least tell the team about her and Naruse.
Oh well. Not looking forward to either waiting for the English publication of each vol. now or trying to track it down in the internet.

This one was cute! A bit more relationship development (but it's still the epitome of a slowwwww burn). The year has ended and I'm curious how it will play out with them being separated a bit more next year.
