Along with his wife and daughter, Matt lives as a digital nomad, traveling the world while researching for his novels. He reads approximately a bazillion books a year, loves video games, and relaxes by binge watching Netflix with his wife.

Matt writes retellings of mythology as dark, gritty fantasy. His passions of myths, philosophy, and history inform his series. He strives to combine gut-wrenching action with thought-provoking ideas and culturally resonant stories.

As a child, Matt read The Lord of the Rings with his parents. This sparked a lifelong obsession with fantasy and started him on a path of discovering the roots of fantasy through mythology. In exploration of these ideas, the Eschaton Cycle was born—a universe of dark fantasy where all myths and legends play out.

As a tale around the campfire ... Yes, it would be well done. As a regular book, not so good. It's a fast-paced, multi-character ball of confusion. I love mythology and read the stories regularly. The exception in this book is everyone, with their own stories to tell, are bunched together making a cloth unacceptable for covering the table.

Incredible. Absolutely incredible.

An excellent read. This is a darker, more horrific tie in to the Gods Of The Ragnarok series, tales retold by a master skald, in epic form. Covering the adventures of Starkad and introducing Hervor, (if you're a fan of the Norse epics, you probably recognize those names) it's a bloody, horrifying, exciting love story. Matt Larkin is an amazing writer, one of my absolute favorites. Maximum enjoyment till the very end. Sköl, Matt!

True told

A grim tale, but true in its telling. True for Nordic value, at least. Truth not being a simple thing. Life can be a hard, bitter thing. And in any world, we are required to be the best we can. That being the nature of good.
Good not being a simple thing either.
Just natural, really.

DNF: I got this lovely box set at a super great discount price, but I haven’t been into this book series for a while! I’ll most likely return in the future, but right now, there’s just too many other books I want to read more!
