With the threat of civil war looming, Iris must figure out how to protect her fiefdom. To her surprise, her most dangerous opponent might be an old rival in love, Yuri. Yuri has the second prince twisted around her finger, and seems to be the driving force behind the kingdom's unrest. Will Iris figure out Yuri's plan, or will she lose once again?
I’m so upset with how the light novel series ended, I’m done with this series, which is just SAD, because it started out so well. No stars, since I didn’t bother to read this one.
I’m a pouty reader, who knew?

Today’s post is on Accomplishments of the Duke's Daughter Vol. 5 by Reia (original author), Suki Umemiya (Artist). It is 162 pages long and is published by Seven Seas. The cover has Iris and her friend on it looking at the reader. As it is the fifth in the series you need to have the first four volumes to understand the story. The intended reader is someone who likes political shojo manga. There is no foul language, no sex, and no violence in this series. The story is told from third person close of the main character, Iris. There Be Spoilers Ahead.
From the back of the book- All’s fair in love and war
With the thread of civil war looming, Iris must figure out how to protect her fiefdom. To her surprise, her most dangerous opponent might be an old rival in love, Yuri. Yuri has the second prince twisted around her finger, and seems to be the driving force behind the kingdom’s unrest. Will Iris figure out Yuri’s plan, or will she lose once again?
Review- This volume picks up right where volume four left off with Iris still in the capital trying to see what is going on. The blurb makes it sound like Iris and Yuri meet and are having some kind of face off when that is not what happens. It is more like Iris is discovering that Yuri is more than just the original heroine of this world and she may be a villain in disguise. As this is a more political manga than a love story we get more information about social structure and how to progress a society into a better and healthier one. I am curious about Iris going to learn next about Yuri and what plans she may have for the future.
I give this volume a Four out of Five stars. I get nothing for my review and I bought this manga with my own money.
iris used to believe that as acting leader, she can’t show her vulnerability to her people, especially the ones working closely with her. but when she doesn’t waver during difficult times, her closest allies are worried about her, concerned that she’s carrying too much on her shoulders. iris is, in fact, shouldering a huge responsibility as leader of her domain; many people’s lives are at stake when she comes up with policies, improvements, and changes. slowly though, it seems like iris is allowing others see another side of her that’s more uncertain and scared.
another thing is, i liked the pacing of the story. even from the start, months and years passed by within chapters as iris is slowly building up her corporation and speeding past all the preparation work was great. however, this doesn’t mean that there’s any compromise on the relationship building which i think is highly important for this manga since iris needs the trust and honesty between her and her people/allies to work in the reader’s mind. i didn’t feel like anything was rushed unnecessarily at all.
Iris is beginning to realize just how dangerous Yuri may truthfully be in addition to the possible threat from the current queen. At the same time, it's even more evident just how loyal those closest to her truly are. That may become even clearer as the end of this book leads into the announcement that the church is excommunicating her, essentially making her a social piranha. The short story at the end this time focuses on Sei and his determination to do well in his work and his service for Iris - certainly a theme it seems with all of those who actually work with her and see her own dedication to their causes.

This volume doesn't have much happening in it besides plot developing and more visiting the town while undercover as random merchant class citizen "Alice."
The highlight of the book was when Iris noted that she doesn't have time to fall in love again and doesn't want to make herself vulnerable. However, the lovely Dean is ready to be there for her in romantic ways if she ever though to open up. C'mon I'm rooting for you Dean!!!
This series is still pretty solid, but overall not very exciting.
A sequel which starts in the capital and ends home. More economic development with a bit of slowly proceeding investigation and a realisation she might have drawn too much attention to herself. Ends with a bit of a cliff-hanger that comes a bit out of nowhere since it involves a subject not really detailed yet (religion). Regardless, I have seen worse cliff-hangers in manga and the story proceeds like the previous parts. I enjoyed it and I am looking forward to the next part.
Holy crap I did not see this coming! What if the heroine of the game is actually the villain?! I mean, it's not anything new in literature, but I haven't come across this plot device yet in an isekai yet, especially not a 'reincarnated as the villain/ess' isekai.

Just barely warned and now she’s super paranoid and in fear for her life? It’s just too sudden. After all that speculation, she thinks she sees Yuri in suspicious circumstances and doesn’t follow up 🤦🏻♀️ Iris is both smart and…not so much.

I didn't notice much changes from the last book. I do enjoy the mystery behind Yuri, and what was uncovered. I feel Iris needs to give Dean a chance. I know she is afraid to fall in love after her ex-finance, but Dean has always been there for her.
