Something new

I've read the Olento Research books and enjoyed them. I like how this series is going so far but it needs something. I'm a huge fan of 5he kurtherian gambit series so thought why not. Hopefully it picks up and draws me in like the books I've read so far by the authors

Once again Noffke has captured my imagination and taken me into another amazing world full is magic, intrigue, humour and mystery. Much different to her dream traveler series, this story has more fantasy aspects but it is every bit as good. Noffke's great descriptive writing, brilliant storyline and ability to make you connect with her characters shines in this book. It draws you in and won't let you go. I loved the fantastic creatures, the magic, the humour laced storyline and the great twists. It held me captive from the first page to the very last and I can not wait for the next in the series.

Fantastical, outlandish and fun story full of magic! I absolutely love this story! This author can take any story and put you in the middle of the characters banter, arguments, and thought processes. Azure is a witch and is about to become queen. Something goes terribly wrong and on coronation day she finds she is not exactly what she always believed she is. This sets her on a journey to the land of Terran where the humans live. No supernaturals are allowed to cross into the borders of Terran but this is an expedition she must make. She has a "crazy" grandmother that helps her on her way and all the creatures she meets on the way are full of riddles and mystery. The Dark Forest is an incredible place with fantastic beings. Even during the serious moments there is always someone with a witty comeback that keeps the book lighthearted, but serious, all at the same time. The trip doesn't stop with the Dark Forest. I have a small spoiler...she does make it to the land of the humans. And this is a hoot! She is at a complete loss as to why humans are the way they are. But with her new friends she meets on the way she is able to fumble through this passage. In true Sarah Noffke fashion there is a cliffhanger! But with that being said, she cleans up a mess and starts a new one for the next book. I very much look forward to reading the next in the series. Got me enchanted!!!!

WOW what a read. I sped through this one as I just couldn't put it down. Oriceran is an interesting world and I coudn't get enough of it. Princess Azure is a witch about to become Queen of her people - when a secret is revealed on her coronation day which puts a spin on everything. She now must set out across the Dark Forrest to Terran - which is not only illegal - but is the home of the horrible humans! The journey is made fun by her best friend Monet, and some interesting creatures they meet along the way. I really enjoyed learning about Earth (which they got to via an illegal portal), Terran and the humans from the witches point of view. The book is full of magic and fun. I can't wait for the next book in the series!

Welcome to the world of Oriceran. Witches, Wizards, Gnomes, Elves, Dryads, Mermaids and Humans all live in this world but they don’t all get along. Trouble is brewing. Azure is about to be crowned Queen when her whole world is turned upside down and she must undertake a dangerous quest to but will she survive and will she be queen in the end. There are so many elements in this story, secrets, lies and royal deception included, and there is so much more I want to know. This story ends with a cliff hanger.

I LOVE everything Sarah Noffke writes! I loved the world she created in this book - it's completely different from her earlier works, and I was quite pleasantly surprised to realize her talent - There is no parallel or similarity with her other series!

I love magick, wizards, a controversy hidden in the story's past and a contrary set of characters ... add to this strong characters who duel with words across pages & you got me, hook-line-&-sinker!

I enjoyed reading this book, and I am looking forward to the next in the series.

Wow! This is such a fun fantasy adventure tale! It's my first venture into this magical land and I couldn't be more thrilled. The characters are full of personality and snark, which I've come to expect from Noffke, and there are so many great lines in here! There's everything from 'poop-colored eyes' to making fun of the current ridiculous fashion trends. That ending though! Why must you always keep me begging for more?!

This is a fun start to a series that reminded me a bit of the Wizard of Oz updated a bit for technology and the like. It's not a heavy read by any stretch, but it is good entertainment for beach reading.

Incredible introduction to a new world

This is my first foray into Oricerean and I am enthralled! Azure is a captivating heroine with a combination of snark, intelligence, and goodness that instantly captivated me. Monet is a great sidekick with attitude and a street smart intelligence. Without giving away the story there is adventure, intrigue, daring, and family... all mixed together. I love the way this world is connected to modern Earth. I can't wait for the second book!

Another awesome book by the amazing Sarah Noffke! Every book she writes draws you into the world she has created & you just can't put the book down until you finish! Oriceran is a new world to me, but Ms. Noffke makes it seem real right away.

Princess Azure is soon to become Queen of Virgo, but she can't quite figure out why her mother is stepping down at such a young age. In fact, Azure hasn't even gotten her Soul Stone yet, so she still hasn't gotten all of her magic. At her coronation, her Soul Stone emerges and all hell breaks loose. Her stone is the wrong color and proves that she is half human!

On top of this, her mother reveals that she is sick and slowly losing her magic. Azure finds out that her mother has given her Soul Stone to Azure's father and if she doesn't get it back, she will soon die. Azure has to travel to Terran to find both her father and her mother's Soul Stone before it's too late.

Azure's childhood friend, Monet, finds Azure as she enters the Dark Forest and the quest begins! Soon, they meet a gnome, a half-elf, mermaids, and other mysterious creatures. I love the characters that Ms. Noffke creates, especially Monet. He is totally irreverent and pretty amazing in his own way.

I truly enjoyed the way that the authors worked pop culture into the book when Azure and Ever (the half-elf) go to LA to get Azure outfitted in an appropriate way for her trip to Terran. There were plenty of LOL moments as Azure is exposed to hair dye, makeup, frozen yogurt, cars and just humans in general. And, Monet's growing obsession with Cheetos had me laughing every time!

I hope that Ms Noffke has the next book in this series out soon.....can't wait to see what happens next (or who she might kill off!).

My initial reactions: compared to Noffke's other works, this was less poetic, more cheesy, more predictable (particularly when characters do stupid things), and more frustrating. I'll start with the frustrating part: there was no ending. I actually enjoy cliff hangers, but this story lacked any discernible story arc... we were climbing the hill and then ... that was it! It wouldn't have been so bad if the "resolution" wasn't so predictable...

The characters were fun, the reading was easy, and I wouldn't hesitate to read on. This book felt less like art and more like a made for TV movie with unneeded cursing. Also the cover art absolutely does not fit the descriptions in the book. Maddening.

I would have appreciated more information about the book in the rest of the world within the book itself - whether in the beginning or the end. I would also have liked some insight as to how the co-authors shared writing tasks.

I have been wanting to read a book by Sarah Noffke for years so when the opportunity to listen to the first book in her fantasy series arose, I was super excited. Also, when I saw that is was the real of Virgo I will admit to being exciting to see my horoscope sign pop up in a book so I was sold regardless of the rest of the content. I found the book to be very quick read, only 4.5 hours listening time, which is basically a day listen compared to so many other longer books- a perfect quick read.

The world was very different, kind of like a Harry Potter wizarding world-esqe place with magic, witches and wizards, wands and cloaks mixed with a dystopian world, where mankind has split and evolved, and there are cheetos (you know, important things that have been smuggled in). It was a really fun place, with all kinds of magical creatures such as growling poppy plant and gnomes, sharp tooth mermaids and magic crawling all over the place. It was like a funny/random version of the Shannara Chronicles, where magic runs rampant after the world as we know it crumbles. I loved Azure exploring the human world and totally bumbling all human interactions, really the story was hysterical.

If this was a movie, it would be rated R due to the number of F bombs dropped all over the place, which was a little surprising to me considering I thought this was a YA fantasy. Otherwise, the content is perfect for anyone or age looking for a fantastical adventure. The banter between Money and Azure was hysterical if at times inappropriate, but totally worth it. The random cast of characters that Azure and Monet collected along their journey were interesting and quirky, making the adventure that much more fun. Oh mg Geez, the journey to Universal Studios and explaining Harry Potter to Azure was awesome and ridiculous. But now I know that to be human you need to wear uncomfortable clothes and you can get a fake ID from the wizarding world of Harry Potter!

Overall this was a fun, very different fast read and I highly recommend it as an audio book since the narrator created personalities and tone for everyone. I look forward to more adventure to come. Definitely read (listen?) to the authors notes at the end of the book, they are interesting and entertaining. What happens when a wizard, witch, gnome and elf go on a journey? Well, read the book and find out!

Of course you would leave it at that. OMG, is TORTURE your middle name Ms. Noffke?
That cliff aside, I want to tell you that this book was such a fresh approach to the whole witches and wizards theme. I loved the world building, I loved the characters, I absolutely loved the plot.
I am such a sucker for magic. And you had to go and show us a freaking UNICORN, with the patented rainbow hair, I just about died.
You know how to make a good cause infiltrate your story, the whole eco friendly approach was a welcome bonus. I loved how you underlined the human wastefulness and how this should be a lesson to be learned lest we have a world of plastic and no breathable air.
And boy, am I infatuated with Ever. He was such a good character. I completely wanted more of him and Azure. I think they would make a great pair. I just need more sizzle between them now. His stalker-ish tendencies aside of course :))))
I didn't get a love vibe from Monet, so he'll just be in the friend zone for now. But he was so cute, and helpful and friendly, and I wanted to hug him so bad.
Gillian was a small but strong presence and his grumpiness is adorable. If you tell him that, he'll probably grunt a not so nice reply.
I feel like this was so filled with creatures and details and personality. Even the damn woods had presence. It packed a strong punch in its pages.
I can't wait to read the next one and see what the powers that be have in store for our Princess Azure. Although very different from Ms. Noffke's other stories from the Dream Traveler series it was still beautifully written and plotted. It got me hooked immediately.

P.S. Did I mention that blue is my favorite color? No? Hmm, then my hubby is going to have a heart attack if I tell him I want blue hair. Just sayin'.

Sarah has done it again!

Every single book I've read, that she's been a part of, has immediately grabbed my attention, and kept me fascinated until the very end.

I honestly can't pinpoint what it is about her stories that do this, but I love the fact that, even when her female leads are magical, they still have those down-to-Earth - or should I say Oriceran, in this case? - characteristics that I love so well, when reading any genre.

They are always gutsy, sometimes they are even ball-breakers - something she has in common with Michael Anderle's female leads - but they always have a wonderful way of dealing with other people.

If awful, then just watch out but, if the people she meets are nice, or need help, or are capable, but need a word of encouragement, then that's what they'll get!

I really love Azure already, as she's everything I expect of a Witch Princess. I loved the way that Sarah brought her character to life - another reason to read the Authors' Notes! Lol

I also love Azure's Mum, and Gran. She definitely comes from a line of strong and capable women!

I'm really enjoying the plotline, too.

The contradictory way in which the Terrans are living, give huge scope for many different storylines, and their total contrast with Azure's people leave even more lessons to be learned - on both sides, possibly! Lol

I always read the Authors' Notes with anything published by LMBPN - it's such a treat to learn about the Authors' thought processes, and I always learn something new through them.

In fact, while reading Martha's notes, she said something that made me realise why I feel the way that I do, about this particular Publishing Company, and all the wonderful Authors that I've had the privilege to get to know, a little, through their writing.

Martha mentioned how all of the Authors regard themselves as Family, along with the people who read their books regularly - and that's when I realised why I felt so spoilt, whenever I have a chance to talk to any of the Authors.

They really have made me feel a part of their, rather extended, family!

That concept of Family started, for me, with Michael's Kurtherian Universe, and it's only getting stronger, the more of his books that I read.

For someone who lives alone, and rarely sees another human being during the week, that has really made a huge difference in my life.

If I'm honest, I find it hard to go back to the books I always read before I discovered Craig Martelle, who introduced me to the work, and Publishing Company, of Michael Anderle, with his ever growing stable of awesome Authors!

There's not a week goes by, when there's further books published with my favourite Authors - my TBR pile, on my Kindle, is now in the thousands! Lol

Reading this series, now, brings it home to me, just how much enjoyment I get, when I've had contact with the people who write such awesome series.

I'm totally hooked! 🤣

I always love when Sarah Noffke writes a new book. I know it’s always going to be something new and exciting, and House of Enchanted did not disappoint. In this first book of the Soul Stone Mage series, Noffke really keeps things interesting by spreading the action over three different worlds and posing one obstacle after another for the heroine to overcome.

Plot:
Azure is a witch who’s been training to become her people’s future queen, but on her coronation day, she finds out she’s not like the other people in Virgo. Her subjects were already worried because another world is threatening to wage war against her kingdom. Now they fear her differences will make her unfit to rule. She can’t turn to her mother because she found out that queen is very ill, so she decides that she’s going to fix all three problems herself.

Characters:
Even though Azure faces some incredibly challenging circumstances, she stays strong without being cynical. Even better, when Azure does have a moment of weakness, she stops and thinks of a logical way to make things better rather than whining and needing someone to save her.

Azure receives encouragement from her grandmother and her childhood friend, Monet. While Azure bickers (often hilariously) with the two of them, it’s obvious that they all really care about and support each other. She also befriends several odd and interesting characters along her journey, and it will be interesting to see how they affect her efforts as the story progresses.

Writing:
Noffke did a wonderful job of building the different worlds. She’s very creative and descriptive, so the reader can actually envision everything that Azure sees. She also makes it easy for the reader to feel what Azure’s feeling, especially when she’s anxious or apprehensive.

In terms of mechanics, House of Enchanted is very well-edited, which I always appreciate. If I had to rate the book, I think I’d probably give it a PG-13. There’s little to no violence or adult situations, but there is a lot of cursing, including the f-bomb.

The Bottom Line:
For the past six months, I’ve been toiling to make it through a series about fae, so House of Enchanted was a welcome break. I enjoyed it so much that when I wasn’t reading, I was anxious to get back to it. The book ends on a cliffhanger, so I’m even more anxious to read its sequel, The Dark Forest.

Kindle Unlimited, just read the 3 stone mage oriceran books out, and eh not really feeling it much, my favorite of these is Leira Chronicles ones and just read the Midwest Witch one most recently and rather liked that one. I do have an issue with the 'language', not because it's used but because it is used so much that there doesn't even seem to be any real reason any more; it made sense in the Liera ones but sheesh give it a rest {look at how many connected but not really connected books there are out already or will be}.

In the world of Oriceran there are two major races: The people from Virgo, wizards and witches living in harmony with nature; and the Terrans, humans whose origins are Earth, and which use the power of nature for their own benefit. Princess Azure will soon be the queen of Virgo, but during the coronation ceremony, something is discovered about her. She will need to demonstrate her people that she is a valid queen, but she also will need to recover something for her ill mother, and fight back the Terrans and their evil plans.

I have already listened to several series by Sarah Noffke, and I love her way of creating characters and bringing them to life. She has a very powerful imagination and is able to create different and credible worlds. Up to now I just knew her books about Dreamtravelers, so I was curious about this new adventure. I have to say that I really enjoyed it, but there was somehow something missing that I found in her other books.

I found the main character's personality a bit less attractive than the main characters' in her other books, and I also missed a bit part of of the balance and poetry. I also found the story quite predictable. I'm not saying this is a bad book, it was very good, but I just can't help but compare it to her other works.

We are up here against a fight between good and evil, non-humans and humans, nature and technology. This dualism has been used again and again since the early times of the first fantasy books, and works, but I just maybe expected a more original approach.

This is just the first book in a series, and it ends on a massive cliffhanger. I would have appreciated if there was at least a conclusion to the first story-arc.

Carly Robins delivered a wonderful narration. Giving a different voice and style to every character. Simply perfect.

Despite the minor issues I am curious about where this is going to, and I am sure the best is yet to come.

Outstanding new paranormal series!!!

I was sucked into the story, right out of the gate. Seriously, there was a murder in the first few pages. Oh, I'm not going to tell you who was killed or who did the killing. You'll have to read the book to find out. If that doesn't give you some inclination as to how this story is going to unfurl, I have no other clues to give you.

The story reveals some truths surrounding the Princess of the Land of Virgo, Azure. Azure's family has been the ruling house in Virgo for over 10,000 years and one of secrets threaten Azure's crown. Another threatens Queen Emeri, Azure mother's life.

When Azure must travel to the Land of the Land of the Terrans, or the humans, what you must know is the humans hate any magical creature, making this a very treacherous journey, if she makes it? But, to get to the Land of Terran, where she can be imprisoned, she must make it through the Dark Forest. The Dark Forest is a place of nightmares. In the Dark Forest Azure, her best friend, Monet, and a tag along Gnome, Gillian face obstacles that test their personalities.

This is a page turner with likeable characters. There are twists and turns and people who are watching from the wings. Don't forget about the murder!! There is a super schemer in the midst of royalty. Can you pick out the schemer? Why would they do what they did and are still doing?? This is a must read!!

This is a wonderful new series and a new world. Sarah Noffke did a fantastic job of keeping me firmly implanted in the story while bringing this new world and characters to life. The characters are pronominal the banter and quick whit they have between one another is entertaining.

Princess Azure finds that she is about to become Queen but on her coronation day her family secret is revealed in a BIG way. This flips her world upside down and in side out. Now Azure has to go to Terran where the horrid humans live to make an alliance but to do this she has to travel through the forbidden Dark Forest.

The creatures Azure, rather Princess Azure, encounters in the Dark Forest are fascinating. Some are there to help, some to protect, and some need help. The journey Princess Azure travels is one of wonderment.

I have to say Sarah Noffke has Enchanted me with this new series. Be warned there is a cliffhanger here but I know Sarah will not keep us hanging for long. I am ready for the next book. I need to know what happens to Azure, her friends and the horrid humans.

4 Never Blue Stars

House of Enchanted is the first book in the Soul Stone Mage series by Sarah Noffke, Martha Carr, and Michael Anderle.

This book is a doozy! I love all of the intrigue and political machinations so prevalent in the Land of Terran. Mostly, it's hilarious how their a little off about everything from Earth. I'm honestly not surprised they literally have a Consumer Party, that gives out pamphlets basically telling their citizens to commit atrocities so similar to how real humans from Earth leeches from our own planet. The parallels are perfection.

This a new side of the Dark Forest. The tests to pass through its borders, the rogue dryads that imprison trespassers and humans leeching from the forest in stone to serve for their crime. That they can feel and hear all around them, sounds like a just punishment. I especially like the mermaid though, and her sea dinosaur friend. They added an excellent sort of entertainment to Azure's journey.

It's not terribly surprising whom her father turns out to be. It's honestly my first guess. It would have to be someone Queen Emeri had reason to come into contact with, and they certainly wouldn't be your run of the mill human.

If Azure doesn't use the Oriceran cats as a spy network in the future I will be soooo disappointed.

I had the AUDIO version of this book. It was narrated by Carley Robins.

The first books of the House of Enchanted leads readers on a harrowing journey to retrieve an item that could save the Queen and possibly bring together the people of Virgo. There are numerous interesting and fun characters in this book that I hope to see more of in this series. I was a big fan of Ever and Monet. I think it will be fun to see if she ends up with either of them in the end. I enjoyed the mixture of gnomes, mermaids, elves, witches, wizards, humans and dryads that were important characters in this first book.
The narrator was very good at telling the story. Her voice contained the right amount of emotion for any given situation. However, I had some trouble distinguishing the voices from one another.

Overall this was a great story. I look forward to reading more of this series.

Azure is soon to be the new queen. She finds out that her mother, the current Queen, has a sickness that is destroying her magic. On the day of Azure's coronation, another disaster shows itself. Azure and her childhood friend, Monet, set off on an adventure to find a cure for her mother. She travels through the Dark Forest and comes in contact with many strange creatures. Her adventures are thrilling and full of surprises. A must read page turner. I received this book for free from the author, but has in no way affected my opinion of this book.

Wow! So much fun and a new way to write about witches.

I'm not huge on the whole witch thing, but this book gave a totally different take on it. They are not coven living but more a race of beings. I fell into the world quickly and fell in love with Monet and Ever. I laughed so hard at Monet and his cheetos that come from Earth and are black market. This book moved so fast. I'm glad to know there are 6 more because it's going to take atleast that many to get my fill of Oriceran and all the amazing fresh characters that live on this world.

I just finished reading book 1 and decided I wanted to leave a review about it, but the first review I saw was Shelley North's review and I decided she had already written my review for me. The plot was really too simple for adults, there were NO surprises at all. I disagree with Shelly about one thing though. If I still had teenagers I would NOT let them read this book. This book would be PERFECT for kids from age 12 to age 16 except for the work "fuck" was used WAY WAY WAY too much. And by a Princess (and in front of her mother)?

Yay

This is my second reading of The Soul Stone Mage but read the omnibus last time. I've been hospitalized for several weeks and when I needed another escape I chose this series as fun and truly entertaining even if it has been over two years since I read this. If you haven't read any Sarah Noffke then you are truly missing out. Her characters are fascinating because they are always flawed and usually in truly fun ways. Begin a new adventure with this series and I promise you won't be sorry. Enjoy!
