Ernesto H Lee is the author of five books in The Dream Traveler series that follow the exploits of the Dream Traveling Detective, Sean McMillan.
The first five books in The Dream Traveler series are Out Of Time (published August 2018), The Network (published October 2018) Finding Lucy (published March 2019), Fools Gold (published February 2020) and Crunch Time (published August 2020).

Much better!! 😃

Now this ending I liked! With this book, I know a sequel is coming, but I'm not forced to get the next book just to see what happened. But the promise of many more books is evident.
Not sure I like the way he has to wake up after his dreams play out, but I'll let you read the books and be the judge fo that, lol.

Enjoyable

I like this series & style of writing. It is enjoyable to have a mans view without it all being a long classification of types of weapons, vehicles & non stop action, but also real feelings & emotions without the girly “looking for true love”. Of course the UK perspective makes it seem fresh to me since I am mostly exposed to American books. My favorite short stories are from a book I picked up in Scotland, they always seem more honest. Can’t wait to see more from this author.

This second book in the Dream Traveler finishes the story started in the first book. I read this in one night, couldn't put it down. Love the dream travel to solve crimes but not always seamlessly. Get the first book it's worth it!

This sequel didn't disappoint and I practically read it in one sitting. I most definitely look forward to the next books in this high suspense thriller series.

Imaginative and interesting

This is such a unique plot and it captivated me at the first sentence. Of course having read book one I was already entranced by the story and did not want t o stop until it was over. But I also did not want it to end!

Author Ernesto H Lee, is originally from the UK, but has mixed Spanish and German heritage and now commutes regularly between his homes in London and Madrid. Previously he was working in Dubai and other areas of the Middle East for more than twenty years, but he has now retired and is a full time author. As this reviewer noted in praising his initial book, a biographical chronicle of four months of his dreaming life, WHEN WE SLEEP, ‘we learn so much about him from his writing of his dreams and their influence on his life that we feel as though we know him well by book’s end.’ Book One of this new series was OUT OF TIME: now we continue out characters paths with THE NETWORK – Part Two.

To place this story in credible terms, Ernesto offers a fine Preface – ‘What a difference a week makes. Just seven days ago, I was standing in front of my colleagues feeling optimistic and excited at the prospect of closing my first cold-case as lead detective. How is it that just one week later, I find myself handcuffed on the wrong side of the desk facing the distinct possibility of spending the rest of my life in prison for the murder of my own prime suspect? If I didn’t know better, it would be all too easy to fool myself into believing that this was a part of one of my dreams. However, this is no dream and the custody sergeant in front of me and the armed officers at my sides are as real as they come. I have never felt as isolated and alone as I do now and, to make matters worse, I have no idea who to turn to for help. My partner has admitted to working against me, my boss has me pegged as a murderer, and the head of the serious crimes squad has demonstrated beyond all doubt the lengths he will go to in order to protect himself and the rest of his crooked network. From this point on, or until proven otherwise, I need to assume that Morgan and every other copper on the force are also part of Clive Douglas’ secret network. This is a not an easy thought to stomach, but it was partly my trust in Catherine that got me into this mess. Like it or not, for now I am entirely on my own and if I don’t come up with a plan quickly, one of my next stops will be the very prison cell that I was threatening Terry Fletcher with. Unfortunately, my head feels like it is about to explode and my guts feel like they are on fire. This has nothing to do with the shock of my arrest and everything to do with the half bottle of absinthe I knocked back as a stimulant before my last trip. Regardless of the reason, a banging head and dodgy guts are hardly conducive to formulating a good enough plan to save myself. To say that I am feeling utterly helpless would be an understatement. Ernesto’s writing grows more secure with this fine book – a suspense novel that is magnetizing. He opens the story with the following – ‘The light in my eyes is so powerful that I am temporarily blinded. I consider for a moment that perhaps I am still dreaming. The voice is very real, though, and the barked order leaves me in no doubt as to what is happening. “Stand up and keep your hands where I can see them — do it now!” Before I can react, I am manhandled from the bed and pushed facedown to the floor by at least two assailants. A knee presses down hard into the small of my back and my arms are viciously jerked behind me. It is only when the cuffs snap shut on my wrists that I realize what is happening and when the main lights go on, I am surprised to see Catherine standing in front of me. Sergeant Huntley is standing to the left of her and they are accompanied by four heavily armed firearms officers. The senior officer tells the guy with his knee in my back to stand me up; then he turns to Catherine. “Is this him, DC Swain?” “Yes, it is. This is Detective Constable Sean McMillan.” I am about to speak, but Catherine moves towards me and speaks first. “Detective Constable McMillan, I am arresting you on suspicion of murder. You do not have to say anything, but it may harm your defense if you do not mention when questioned something which you later rely on in court. Anything you do say may be given in evidence. Do you understand?” “Cath, no. This is crazy! You can’t believe this. It was Douglas. Please, Cath.” She looks embarrassed and is going to say something but is distracted when Sergeant Bellmarsh enters the bedroom. He is wearing search gloves and is holding a bloodstained hunting knife in his left hand. “This was in one of the kitchen drawers; the blood on it still looks fresh.” Despite my protests of innocence, I am dragged out of my apartment and into the lift. Catherine can barely make eye contact with me as we descend to the ground floor. The road outside is filled with police vehicles and DCI Morgan and DS Douglas are standing next to the back of a police transit van. I try to speak to Morgan, but he stops me. “Save it, Sean. Don’t say something you might regret.” Then he speaks to my escort, “Go on, get him out of my sight.”

Ernesto H. Lee is becoming an important and gifted author. This is a fine novel and a highly recommended one.

The Network (The Dream Traveler Book Two by Ernesto H. Lee is a continuation of the story of Detective Constable Sean McMillan. Lee's first book in the series, Out of Time, established Lee as a formidable writing force in the world of mystery, thriller, and suspense. Here Detective McMillan is wrongly convicted of murder, with everyone betraying him on every level, even his police partner. The author offers a stunning preface which lays the groundwork for the rest of the novel, and sets the tone for the strong plot, fast pace, and realistic characters. That the story jumps around in time frames from past to present makes the book a bit of a challenge to read, but overall that technique adds a superb backstory and juxtaposition that is necessary to round out the drama. Highly recommend for a riveting story that is well executed, exciting, and different.

Ernesto H Lee follows a promising first book with a great second one. The Network: The Dream Traveler follows the footsteps of Detective Sean McMillan and how his life is turned upside down when he finds himself accused of murdering his main suspect in a cold-case he was investigating and has to face the betrayal of everyone around him.
This is a great start to any mystery/thriller book but it is particularly exciting when it is delivered by an author who knows his craft. The story offers a steady pace and the plot is clearly designed to appeal to a broad audience: the conspiracy and the betrayals add an extra layer of emotion and depth to the novel. Also, the characters are very well-built, offering a wide range of emotions but the purpose of the book is never forgotten and all paths lead to it. A great book to end the year in a high note in this genre.

This review is for both the first and second books in the Dream Traveler series.
I liked both books. The premise is a little difficult to believe at first, but eventually you end up accepting the rules and logic of the story. You will have to accept the almost divine qualities of the main protagonist for getting into trouble, and then getting out of it.
Something I didn't like was that the text doesn't seem to have been revised, either by the author or by a corrector. There were typos and spelling mistakes -like "there" instead of "they're", and things like that- that distracted me. It's an easy book to read, but these problems are just not possible nowadays.
Anyway, if you like mysteries with a twist, give this one a try.

The Network: Book two of the dream traveler series. Detective Sean McMillan was framed and arrested for the murder of his main suspect in the case he was investigating.

I cannot express enough how much i enjoyed reading this book. It is filled with twists and unexpected moments. The ending is exciting and alarming - opens up tons of possibilities which i’m greatly anticipating.

5 out of 5 stars :)

'The Network' is the perfect sequel to Ernesto's first book 'Out of Time'. It keeps up a great pace and gives readers the chance to further explore the fascinating character that is DC Sean McMillan.

What you grow to love about Ernesto's writing is his ability to keep you intrigued and surprised through every chapter, with well established characters you can't help but be drawn too.

Here's hoping he has a couple more of these up his sleeve. This is a series you don't want to miss.

I’m am glad this book didn’t end on such a cliff hanger as the last one did. The main character changed a bit and was more likable in this one. I do think that given his line of work he wouldn’t be so quick to do all the bad things while dream traveling as that makes him out to be a criminal and I think that sort of behavior in dreams would eventually come out in his real life too. So he is a rather hypocritical character. Story ended well though

Fascinating storyline

I’m glad I was able to get the second book in the series. I was really unhappy with there being no ending to the first book. The ending of this book made it worthwhile. The series has an interesting premise: what if you could time travel when sleeping?
I’ve enjoyed the main character and the storyline intriguing. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

Interesting Concept

This us the second book in the series. When I read the first one, I wasn't sure I would go back for more. Then curiosity got the better of me and I wanted to resolve the cliffhanger from the first book. I wish I hadn't. Sean hasn't learned much about avoiding unintended consequences of his messing with the past.

On the upside, the writing is better this time out and the resolution is satisfying, although it too sets up another book.

Usually not a fan of time travel

I almost never read time travel book. I happen to stumble on the first book and its really good. The story is easy to follow even with the back and forth. The first book sort of ends with a cliff hanging so I had to read this one. Author is s fabulous storyteller and still stays on point so you aren't lost between past and present

Nice sequel, well done

I was intrigued by the first book but enjoyed this one much more. All the pieces came together nicely and seemed to fit logically. The main character is interesting and the surprise at the end is a good setup for the next book in the series.

Loved it!

I spent more time gasping and saying 'Oh no!' in this book, and it's prequel than I have with any other book in years. Lots of twists, turns and stuff I didn't see coming.
I can't wait for the next book.

Good plot

Both books come together in this dream story.
Sean has a talent or a curse of traveling while dreaming. As a detective his able to sniff out clues of cold cases the no one else can solve. This series of adventures could make for an interesting tv show.

Superb

I bought n finished book one yesterday. Then I bought the rest of the series. Now I finished book two n ready to start book three this evening. Wonderful characters. Great story.

A continuation from book 1

If you liked the first book I don't think you will be disappointed with book 2. Most of the story takes place during a 6 day period in prison. As you would expect there is plenty of bad language and violence.

He finds out he has a son from one of his dream sequences
And his son has the same ability to time travel, in real life, through his dreams

I'm very picky about reading time travel. This book places you in the same space as the traveler. Very well written

A Great Follow Up to Book 1

A very satisfying wrap up to the problems introduced in book 1. I enjoyed the new characters and their interactions with the story line.

This is just a good, suspenseful story of a time travelling British cop. Each book makes me want to read the next one. Some annoying typos/grammar errors in the Kindle editions.

Another great book, fast paced and full of action it tied up some loose ends nicely and ended with an excellent twist, a thoroughly recommended read.
