As you begin to read this book, you will undoubtedly feel that Queen Marie Antoinette and King Louise XVI led spoiled lives. You will be right in what you think; but you will also find out that with their parents arranging their marriages at a very young age, neither of them was ever able to experience the feelings of young love. Because Antoinette was from Austria, she had to be married twice, once in Austria and then again in France. When married in Austria her husband to be could not be present, so, weird as it seemed, her brother stood in for the groom.

An interesting and fun introduction to The Last Queen of France, Marie Antoinette by The History Hour.
While researching a fiction/non fiction book on Marie Antoinette I came across this audio version and decided to give it a try. While I wasn’t a fan of the narration and the mispronunciations I did enjoy the brief history lesson on the subject and it gave me a taste for more which was the exact reason I purchased this edition in the first place.
I wasn’t very familiar with the Life of Marie Antoinette, and just knew the bare facts that she married King Louis XVI and was put put to death by Execution and of course the Phrase Let them eat cake which apparently as per The History Hour version there is no record of her having said it which if nothing else is something I have learned by having listened to this audio.
I would like to read a more comprehensive Historical fiction/Non fiction account of her life and if any of my Goodread Friends can recommend a good book I would be delighted to add it for further reading.
A fun and entertaining listen that left me wanting more.
I thought that this was a well laid out book that kept to the main facts.
There were quotes from Marie Antoinette at the start of each chapter too which helped bring her story to life. The book was easy to read and it too around an hour and a half from start to finish. One of the better short books that I have read on Marie Antoinette.
It is 4 stars from me for this one, highly recommended and a great free download.
2.5 stars & 3/10 hearts. This is a bit hard to review. The biography wasn’t too badly written, although it really came across as a school essay more than anything else. It seemed to be well-researched & it had a lot of information that I hadn’t heard before. But I’m the kind of girl who prefers biographies with the least possible content & if there must be content, state it briefly & at once. I didn’t care to hear in detail about certain physical things. So, it wasn’t a bad biography—though it was rather poorly written—but it just wasn’t for me, personally.
loved this simple story of Marie Antoinette. told in simple paragraphs from her birth to her death was right on point for me..have been watching a game show on tv with a big winner. he said that he read children's books for study. so bought this for my granddaughter to start reading. it should hold her interest as it is only eighty-five pages with just a small nugget of information on each page.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, reading it all in one sitting! It covers her birth, her marriage, her children and her ultimate downfall. It also covers her suspected affair with the man said to have been her one true love. I highly recommend this reading to anyone interested in the history of our famous kings and queens.
If you want to know why the queen was beheaded, this is one of the books you must read. It has alot of information about the queen' s feelings before her beheading.
