Luciel, main character of this light novel series (and web novel series), integrates and trains his team of 10 knights and 5 healers with the help of the Valkyries. Luciel proposes deep changes in the Holy City to create a universal healing prices and quality controls. Because in Merratoni a lot of the corruption, depravity and enslavement were present, Luciel finds a way to make all the Healing Clinics follow the new prices and administrative changes. Luciel and his retinue, make the necessary changes to improve the lives of the people that live in Merratoni, the Holy Capital and some of the small villages on the way. Luciel lives by the Golden Rule, (treat others how you would like to be treated). This makes him try his hardest to help the elderly and children, free the slaves that are currently illegally enslaved, and lower the healing prices for the adventurers and the rest of the people. Although most of the light novel series is training and getting stronger of the main character and the rest of the main characters, it is not as monotonous as it sounds. Luciel's good causes and help gives him the nickname "Saint Weirdo". Luciel improves his weapons, his armor, with the help of the best tailor and weapons smith Grand and Trent. Luciel finally cuts his hair again, cause he had it longer than Lumina and the rest of the girls. Luciel has yet to leave for other kingdoms and territories. He is yet to save the Dragons from the Demon Lord and the rest of the evil demons. This volume 3, has 150+ pages, 14 chapters and 7 small side stories. I feel the series is slowing down. Hopefully by going to other territories, the depth and reach of this light novel series makes it more entertaining and interesting for the readers.
The third volume in this serie was a little disappointing. What was supposed to be the main plot in this volume, end up in just a couple of pages. In fact, the book feels like an introductory volume. A lot of filler stories for characters that has been already introduce, day to day routines and at the end little and almost no tension or plot improvement. A new character is barely introduce, and almost no improvement in any other character.
While there are some events, there is hardly any build up before the climax. There are no real threats, and there’s no palpable growth. It’s a volume that’s just there to pass the year and a half until the main character turns 20, and it makes me want to get off this ride and go read another series.
I get why a lot of people are downgrading this book for having nothing happen and I agree, but it's hard for me to lower a rating when I enjoy the series, characters, world, and everything so much. Has anyone also watched the anime? I didn't even know there was one until I looked it up during this book. Is it better, or at least as good, as these light novels?
Only to be disappointed. I was hoping for more adventure but all we got was slow mode. Not even sure I would call this a book worth buying . it added nothing but filler to the story.
I love this series so much! Can't wait for more to come out! I could read this series over and over again! I truely enjoy seeing luciel grow. He's so silly with people I end up laughing half the time
I honestly don’t think I have ever been more excited about a novel like this one. In all honesty I can’t stop reading the volume once I start. Luciel is going to become a legend in his own right. Maybe even more important than the founder of the holy city.
It's really amazing to see how many changes Luciel has done to fix things in the world he's now living in. I'm really eager to keep reading and find out what else he does next.
This series settled into dull repetition in the first volume, showed some minor progress towards charm in the second, but this third volume is just the same dull loop again. I'm done with the series.
The humor in this book keeps me laughing and overall Luciel works hard to meet simple goals that somehow end up becoming far more complicated than he’s comfortable with.
After accidentally clearing the undead dungeon hidden by the Church, Luciel finds himself propelled to fame. Not that this changes a lot about his life. He's still set on training---this time with the Valkyries---and is slowly building a team around himself to help in his future endeavors. He's been requested to travel abroad and establish more Healer's Guilds, following the new standards he's drawn up.
This is the first volume that really feels like a lull. I personally didn't mind at all the training that took up most of the first volume, as it showed Luciel getting his feet under him in a manner that was clearly setting him up for more than he expected. And the second volume sped through the labyrinth enough to make it feel like the story was going places.
This is kind of a necessary wrapping up of some of the ideas that happened before, and a staging ground for what's coming. I feel like the volume could have done more to push some plot threads but instead a lot of it feels like filler slice of life with a handful of hints for the future sprinkled in.
The one point of real interest for me was the return to his starting town, to the Adventurer's Guild that did so much to raise him and the clinic that did everything to drive him away.
Overall, this is a real meh volume for me, with only a few moments I really liked compared to a lot more that just felt like filler. That said, since it is setting up so much, it's probably a good idea to read it if you intend to keep going. I rate this book Neutral.
Volume 3 ends the first arc in the series. Luciel is about to reform the Healer's Guild and prepare himself for a journey through the continent as a S-ranked healer. First though he has to finish unfinished business in Merratoni.
Much like previous parts it is a light-hearted slice-of-life story with some entertaining characters. It is mostly tying up some loose ends though, showing a few potential plot points for future volumes in the series as well. Luciel also remains the insecure coward for the most part, which at times does come across as a bit silly even if it is consistent. The after stories were rather mediocre though and as a result the book was a bit short. All in all, a good read, except perhaps for the after stories.
