First book of the series is Percy and Shanna's book. They met while she was on vacation in Mexico. Shanna was going through some stuff and always wanted to go to Mexico so she finally went for it.
Percy's life has been a living hell. He has been through things nobody should ever have to go through. He is a loner and a man who doesn't want to be touched. He can touch you but don't touch him and don't expect a kiss.
This book is about over coming your past and not let it rule you. About the fact that you are more than your past and you just have to put your mind to it and do it. It's not going to be easy but if you have something you want and someone who needs you in their life you can have a different "now" and different future. Be the opposite of what you went through.
A good book but I wish there would have been more of what he did to get to a place in his that he changed. Did he go to counseling? Did he do it on his own? Did he ever back step? Maybe it will show more in another book.

I am not normally one who does not finish a book however the lack editing on this one is just too much for me to handle. Which really sucks because I was enjoying the story line.
Example: She mewled and arched up, bucked into his face, trying to take him FURNITURE inside.
I understand some missed editing but this is just too much.

So. Wow. Percy. He’s not your normal, run-or-the-mill book boyfriend. He pretty much doesn’t even qualify for the general bad boy category. Nope. Percy is… dark. Closed off. Damaged. He doesn’t just have a closet full of secrets he’s not going to let you open, he’s got a virtual house full. In fact, he’s the kind of guy that not only goes for the one night stand, but basically won’t let you see beyond the front porch (figuratively speaking) of his emotional house: nobody gets inside, and NOBODY stays. The man’s got more rules than a congressional committee, and he means every one of ‘em.
Then he meets Shanna. Beautiful, intelligent, works hard, does the right thing, but just never seems to draw anything but the short straw, Shanna decided it was time for an unscheduled vacation after a bad breakup with her no-good excuse for a boyfriend. So Shanna found herself in a small Mexican village bar staring at a hunk of tatted-up man with a ridiculous name but the oh, so perfect body for a hot and dirty WTH one-nighter. But too much tequila can certainly make things turn out differently than you plan…
Percy and Shanna are light and dark/day and night. So is their story. One minute it’s wonderful and dreamy, the next minute it’s angsty and heart-breaking. You’re laughing at their banter on one page, curling your toes at their hot-as-the-Mexican-sun sex the next. But before you know it you’re nearly in tears. In short, the story reflects their romance wonderfully.
The realistic romance, “holy cow!” hot love scenes, and adult language/situations make this a novel that can be shared with your best friend. Percy and Shanna are a reminder that love isn’t always pretty, easy, and perfect. It doesn’t always fit nicely into a fairy tale HEA where the birds sing and the bunnies hop through the forest after the loving couple. Nope. Sometimes life hands you some deep complications that just don’t go away with a couple of nice words and a hug. In short, this story is dark, gritty, real, and at times painful. That’s what makes it so awesome.

WOW! “PERCY” is intense! Melissa Devenport offers a new novella today that will knock your socks off! With phenomenal characters like Shanna and Percy, so well-developed that it was difficult to think of the story as a novella, I fell in love with a small beach village in Mexico. Contrary to the safe, sensible old gal from Cincinnati, the Shanna readers meet in Mexico makes some daring choices and along with Percy goes on a wild ride. I laughed, teared up, and whooped for joy while reading this emotive tale; and I rooted for the happy ending these flawed by trying characters deserved. Through her use of dual narration, Devenport was able to weave a tale of lust and love that seemed timeless, and I felt bereft to see the story end! I volunteered to read an ARC copy of “PERCY” and this is my honest voluntary review. “PERCY” has earned a 5-STAR rating in but will only get 4 because of its short length. However, because it rang true with me, and I found it so entertaining and emotive; that extra ½ credit has to be awarded. Intense and Captivating
WOW!!!! Can Melissa ever write anything better than this? Both intense and captivating, Percy was a very hard book to put down. This book is definitely not a sunshine and roses one, in fact, it is dark and edgy and will most definitely test your emotions.
Percy is not just a broken man, he is completely damaged. this is the man you tell your daughters to stay a million miles away from. he is the epitome of darkness. Shanna is his complete opposite ... she is the sunshine that every man needs in their life. She is recovering from an ill-fated romance and decides to take a holiday in Mexico. Walking into a bar and too much tequila will change both of their lives.
i really love (and I mean) REALLY LOVED Percy and Shanna's story. It was emotional, heartbreaking, painful, but it was also inspirational. Melissa was able to portray two characters with such realism, you couldn't help but love them.
A thoroughly enjoyable story and a highly recommended read.

The past doesn't define us
Percy and his story shredded me. Shanna was looking for something real and found it. Melissa Devenport thrust me into this story made me open my eyes to life. The past doesn't define who we are or what we can be. It is what we decide to make it. I love how Percy learned that and Shanna was the rock he needed.

Oh man, oh man!! I absolutely love Percy!! This is a great start to the Lonely Rider series!!
After ending her engagement with her cheating boyfriend, Shanna goes to Mexico to regroup. Her first night there she meets Percy. She is drawn to him almost instantly but knows something is off with him. Percy hasn’t had an easy life, at all. His dark, painful past has taken him all the way to Mexico so he can be as far away from it all as possible. He’s closed off, refuses to let people in, to see the real Percy but when he sees Shanna in a bar one night something clicks within himself and he can’t explain it at all.
If you read the Dirty Mechanic Box Set then you will love getting a bit of an update on Percy’s friend!! I can’t wait for the next book in this series!! 🖤🖤

This was a pleasant surprise for me. I loved this book it had me from the very first words to the very last word. I love Percy and Shanna. They are perfect for each other and the way Shanna took her time with Percy not just healing his mind but also his heart made me believe that this really could and does happen. You are a phenomenally talented writer and I will tell you I will invest in you with whatever endeavors you decide to do. You are one of my go to authors and I will happily recommend you to my many friends. Wonderful story! I look forward to more from you!

A well written story with nice storyline and plot. I like it is written in dual POV because that gives the reader more of the thoughts and feelings of the main characters and that brings it closer to the reader. Likeable characters who are well described and develops nicely through the story.
This story is very emotional and strong written. I was caught from the first chapter. The writing style and use of words made it a very passionate and heartwarm story. A instant attraction romance with a nice pace and some issues before the couple have their HEA. They have to change both themselves and their past.

I love all of Melissa Devenport's books but this one was so strong I am still in awe of it. It was emotional. Heartfelt. So passionate that it seems to touch down to the botrom of your heart. When you have a book such as that you have to be in awe of it. It had the heat to start a temperature and that is just a bonus. A great read although it did have a few technical errors but overall a stunning beginning to a series hopeful. Loved also how she bought in a previous character to cement it all. A great read!!

This is an excellent start to a new MC series. The storyline is engaging, steamy, and has two defined main characters who are relatable, damaged and need healing. This story chronicles their journey from an alcohol-induced lusty attraction, to an HEA. I enjoyed this read. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.

I liked the story line and the characters. Percy and Shanna are instantly attracted to each other. Their hea doesn’t happen as fast and their road to their hea is bumpy.
I’m giving this book 3 stars because of the amount of errors i encountered why reading the book. The version I read was downloaded through KU.

I was not expecting such an emotional read with this book but that is exactly what I got. From beginning to end it was about discovery. Finding yourself and seeing if you are more than your past. I enjoyed every minute of this story from the first margarita filled fun to the emotional and heartbreaking parts at the end. This was a great find!

Wow this book was amazingly written. Once I started I couldn’t put it down till I was finished. This book has twists and turns you don’t know what’s happening. will they all get there happily ever after or will it all go wrong. To find out what happens go buy the book. You won’t be disappointed I wasn’t.

You are going to just love reading Percy and Shanna's story. I know I did. It was a great read to keep me entertained will I was sick this month. All she wants is to forget her cheating ex. I just love MC books too so much. Strong characters and a great story line. I so can't wait to read what comes next.

Firstly this is not an mc biker book.
Yes the male mc rides a bike but hes not part of a club etc.
This was an alright book but as it wasnt an mc book not what I expected to read and I hate that if I want a plain romance about a holiday fling ending up in a pregnancy id read that type of book .
I read biker books cos I like the darkness angst n edge that usually come with mcs.
So no this was a big fat fake false description trying to grab readers by hitching on the old mc biker genre
And I really detest that its so cynical n hence why I gave it 1 star !
Dont lie to your readers. Dont adopt or hijack a genre just to piggyback off of it.

Disappointing.
I began by enjoying the storyline and the character of Percy. But as the plot progressed, I felt that the story was rushed and the characters were not developed enough. Shanna, particularly felt "wrong". It was all a bit too quick and and a bit too shallow for me which is a great shame because I think that with more time spent developing the plot and the characters the book would be worthy of more stars.

Not sure what review to give on this one... for me or didn't deliver. I thought Percy was in a MC club, but was in his passes. When he eventually gave into his feelings, towards the end, it all seemed so rushed then til the end. I had high hopes, that didn't deliver. Not sure if I'll continue with the rest of the series to be honest. Was really looking to stick ktail id a new series and author

Beautiful
Percy and Shanna take for a very emotional, intense read that will make you pulse race, your heart pound and make you smile. It brought tears to my eyes and made me have all the feels and fall for this couple. You can't change the past but the future is what you make it be that's what this book has left me with. Can't wait to read the next one.

Okay read
Okay read. Quite short actually but it’s a complete story. Percy certainly had a crap life and forms the basis for the story and 5be developing relationship. Was okay. Felt something was missing in the storytelling.

I wanted to like this one more. It didn't have a lot of drama with the motorcycle club. I thought it was far to little. The chemistry between the main characters were super hot. Loved them.
