Rapunzel Gothel has lived her life in a suffocating bubble. A near assault in high school scared her into following her mother's strict rules about boys. Now, however, at almost 25, she finds herself lonely and itching to break out of the barriers that surround her.
Hank Fitzherbert is a carefree, optimistic playboy, who feels sorry for the girl too scared to live her life. Deciding to help Zellie learn how to have fun, he starts taking her on "just friend" dates to teach her how to navigate the real world.
Things go awry when Zellie's mother, Cassia, begins to scheme to separate them. As the two try to figure out why Cassia is so intent on keeping them apart, Zellie and Hank must also fight their growing attraction to each other. What started out as just friends, is beginning to spiral into so much more.

Zellie’s mother is anti-men. She was badly treated by Zellie’s father and has been a man-hater ever since. She doesn’t keep her feelings to herself either but spreads her poison to her daughter and treats her like her slave, guilting her into staying home and never going out or having relationships. Zellie also had a bad experience as a teen and is very wary of men in general. Will any man ever be able to break through her self-imposed defenses? This story is a modern retelling loosely based on the fairy tale Rapunzel. 3.5 stars

Another enjoyable tale! I loved the because of Hank's background he a has a different line for boundaries than Zellie, and together they can set new boundaries of how others should be permitted to treat you, and when to walk away. I have to mention how adorable I thought the nickname was...all of them! Hank is a hunk. His personality is golden in my book. I loved that he treated Zellie with such care and respect, and never used her naivety against her. He's a keeper, and so is this book. On a steaminess level I would rate this a pleasant PG, nothing to make me feel uncomfortable. This read is worthy of a repeat.
Another great read by Laura Ann! The plot was good and I loved the main characters!! They were lovely with a perfect mix of strength and vulnerability. I absolutely detested Cassida!! How could she do that to a child? I was literally groaning out loud with frustration everytime something went wrong. I was rooting for Rapunzel and Hank the whole time and I LOVED the ending. I would highly recommend this novel for all lovers of sweet, clean romances!
RATING: 4.5 points
1-5 SCALE: 1: I couldn’t even finish it 2: I hope I didn’t pay for this / disappointing 3: I didn’t hate it, but I didn't like it either 3.5: On the line between good and ok 4: Solid story / worth reading 4.5: Close to perfection! / must read 5: I could not put it down and I’m still thinking about it!
One of my all time favourites is the Rapunzel story so I was eagerly looking forward to this one. I wasn’t disappointed. So many times I’m sure I drew stares whilst reading the different books in this series, simply because they had be smirking, smiling & laughing out loud so many times. If you read any of my other reviews you’ll see a theme happening lol spunky heroine coupled with a dashing hero - what’s not to love?! Throw in a few villains to make the road to true love that much more interesting. Sit back & enjoy all of your favourite fairytales retold in a modern setting but with the same sweet & clean content we all enjoyed in our youth... ok, there’s more kissing than I would have enjoyed as a kid 😝 but I’ve matured enough that I’m happy to swoon over it now lol
This is Zellie's story - she appears in Tia's story, Ms. Frogg's Hidden Prince and the story starts in a scene from this book. She is very firmly under the thumb of her mother who is quite cruel to her and is absolutely against all men. Zellie meets Hank and slowly releases herself from her mother's grip but the romance is not without its challenges and there is a very unexpected twist at the end! An excellent read as all the Middleton Prep books are - absolutely 100% recommend this story.
Interesting take on the childhood fairy tale of Rapunzel. Since having read all the other books in this series, I would have liked Ms. Merryweather to have a more prominent part in the story. Also grew up with a narcissistic mother so there were many moments I could identify with. Slow-developing romance that was adorably cute! I received an arc of this ebook in exchange for my honest review.
I'm not sure why Zellie's real name is Repunzel because this story is not like that story. But it got more interesting the longer I read. It really is a good modernization of that story but has a very unusual, surprise ending that caught me off guard. I liked it after I read the whole thing. I received a free copy. This is my voluntary, unbiased opinion.
She hasn't had much experience out in the world as her mother has kept a tight leash on her but when she meets Hank she's ready to break all the rules. Good book but has typos.
A bit more like the Disney movie Tangled than I expected, but she made it work. The manipulative mother hit a little close to home, so at least it's realistic. Definitely a fun addition to the series!
Another great book in this series. I love Laura Ann's modern take on the classic fairy tales. If this is the first book of this series you have read, you will love it so much that you will want to read all of the books in this series.
LOVED the glimpses we got showing that the inspiration for this story was the Tangled version of Rapunzel; the chemistry between Hank & Z was also pitch-perfect, and the progression of their romance an enjoyable ride
