This book is a standalone, complete story. No Cliffhangers. HEA. Multiple POV.
The Possessive Collection is about dangerous men and the women who become the object of their obsessions.
Abagail woke up to a living hell. She was surrounded by killers, and a faceless voice had told her she would be given as a prize to one of them. After they had fought to the death.
Cain knew that there would be a lot of death before he could claim his prize. And he would be more careful this time. He wouldn’t lose this one. He wouldn’t make the mistakes he made before. He would make sure this one lived.
This book is subtitled as Book Two under this collection. However, each book is standalone and not related to each other in their storylines. They are published under the ‘Possessive Collection’ title so that readers can quickly identify my books that share the genre of Dark/Taboo Romance.
This book is in the Dark/Taboo romance genre. It contains subject matter that some readers may find disturbing. Due to the content, this book is intended for adults 18 years and older.
So, a little about me. I ‘am a sub and live the lifestyle when I can. When I am not writing books, driving Doms crazy, or watching Hockey games, I work in the security industry. I operate in places like Iraq and Afghanistan.
I love all animals. But, dogs and horses are at the top of my list. I ‘am the worst joke teller known to mankind. My blood type is “coffee”, my favorite color is blue, and I once choked on a marshmallow, but I still eat them because I’m a risk taker like that.
I currently write two types of genres. BDSM Themed and Dark Themed Erotic books. I encourage you to read ‘A Word from your Author’ at the front of my books. There is a vast difference between BDSM and Dark books. And it is important to me that people do not confuse the two.
I also write two different lengths of books. Novellas and Novels. I note the word count and type of book it is on each book specific page, so that you know what type you are purchasing. I always write multiple POV’s and chapters indicate a change in POV. Thus, my chapter lengths vary depending on what the character is doing. My books also tend to happen over a compressed timeline. Things happen quickly in my characters world. And I like to inject a bit of humor. Laughter good for the soul
Now, for one last word. Whether Kinky or Vanilla, or somewhere in-between. There are over 3 Billion people on this planet. But, YOU are unique. YOU are special. YOU deserve respect and love. Always remember that.
Hugs and much Love, Torie.
Series and Collection- By Torie Grace
Dark Ice Collection -Pro Hockey players with VERY dark sides. (Taboo/Dark romance/erotica)
I get that the series is stand a lone but I was quite surprised how much different this book was to the first. Don't think the first one has anything to do with this one. But still very intriguing and quite dark at times. Dark romances are quite tricky to read at times as they don't have as swoony romances nore heros and aren't supposed to feel very romantic. Sometimes they are just too taboo for my taste but this one was alright
Awesome book, very well written (IMO), emotionally gutting AND satisfying, excellent plot with superbly detailed characters, good & bad. Cain (H) is a young enslaved cage fighter. Huge, muscular & tall, conditioned for decades by 'Master' to engage in death match fights for the Master's profit. The ONLY way for Cain to continue to live is to WIN & slaughter every challenger he is pitted against. The only way Cain may avoid excuriating extended punishment is to OBEY his Master in everything. After after decades of brutal agonizing conditioning Cain has learned to never speak, never smile, SLEEP, TRAIN, FIGHT & WIN. And since the Master's fighters never leave the underground compound, or even their 'rooms' unless to fight, train, be punished or chemically experimented on, they don't actually need anything~~~ except what a woman may provide. And the women then become the fighters rewards & incentitives to win. But the fighters are no longer human, reduced to their bestial base instincts most women are not physically capable of being with the fighters more than a handful of times. And this is what HELL Abby (h) wakes to find herself in~~~ the Master makes it very clear what her fate is to be: the prize for the winner of a Championship match. But Abby is beautiful, intelligent, practical, observant & determined to save herself. And of all the fighters she sees, only one seems to retain a shred of humanity in his tortured anguished eyes. Cain. And thus Abby sets all her hopes on Cain. But she doesn't know the tortures, conditioning, HELL that Cain has endured, to the point just thinking about disobeying the Master brings him to his knees in agony. And the Master has dictated Cain obey, never speak & never leave his 'home' . . . . GAH! Normally heroines irritate me, they're either whiney, aggressive (vs assertive), drama queens, all about ME or TSTL. But Abby is an awesome heroine that I was rooting for from the beginning. After a very short & understandable panic at her situation, she reins in her emotions & starts to analyze how she may use whatever resources she may find or to which she has access. How refreshing: a female lead charcter that despite reasonable fear/terror, quells pointless panic & uses logic to try & help herself. But more than that, she is able to be honest about Cain AND the other fighters: they aren't bad people, they've been beaten, tortured & conditioned into it. And another wonderous & heartwarming characteristic Abby has, is HER HEART. And once Cain sets eyes on Abby: he decides she is HIS & ONLY HIS & whatever it takes to get & keep her~~~ Cain IS going to do. Despite how awful, how DARK, how dismal & hopeless Cain & now Abby's world is, Abby is a powerful ray of light & love even the Master cannot dim, & as the saying goes, one candle lights the way . . . . One of the most heartbreaking, heartwarming stories I've read. I was actually feeling I was tearing up several times. An excellent satisfying LOVE story of the DARK kind.
The idea of reading a jealous and possessive hero made me one-click this book. I just got the huge bonus when the said hero is also a deadly underground fighter, broody and bloody lethal.
Crucible of Cain is quite a quick read with lots of "caveman-ish" moments. The fighters basically grew up in that illegal den of fighters and had been trained ro fight to the death by their "Master" also known as Dougherty.
Cain is aggressive, brutal and deadly but among the trained fighters, he's the one who seemed to still have a conscience left inside of him. A humanity that didn't dissolve by his brutal trainings since he was a kid.
Enters Abby, who was kidnapped and offered as a prize to the winning Champion (best fighters) after the tournament. But being a prisoner there close to Cain, both have developed an easy attachment to each other.
That's basically the gist of their story. It was rather an insta-love with the quick and easy connection between the two main characters but it was tastefully done and not in a cheese-y way.
Cain is OTT jealous and possessive all throughout the story and very caveman of his ways, you'd have no way but find it appealing and adoring to witness.
The characters' development flowed well with the plot growth and although I would've wanted to see more action in the book between the fighters, I understand the book's concept is not focused on that but rather on the romance between the hero and heroine.
I would be delighted to see more of the other fighters' stories especially Demon, Cain's ultimate rival and as deadly as him.
I really enjoyed this, but it could have been better.
Cain was raised in a literal underground fighting ring. He was stolen as a child and conditioned and trained to fight.
This is where I thought the author did an excellent job. She never assumed he would just know stuff. In a way he was childlike. He didn’t know words for pretty much anything outside of the facility he was raised in. His prison was his home, and that’s what he called it. Home. I have read other books where the MC shouldn’t know stuff that they just automatically do because the author either doesn’t take the time to write those scenes out or they don’t realize they shouldn’t know them. Anyway, I was really happy with how this was a constant throughout the book.
Abby is abducted and wakes up to find she is a prize for these fighters. She is pretty instantly drawn to Cain, even if maybe a little weary too.
I thought the evil Master was a bit too omniscient? Not sure if that’s the exact wording. But did this guy live at the facility? And did he just sit around all day watching these two in their cells? He always seemed to know when talk to them.
The book also became a bit repetitive towards the end. But I still couldn’t put it down. It was only looking back that I realized it.
So those were the issues I had with the book, but I still loved the storyline and really enjoyed reading what this author created. I absolutely loved Cain’s obsessive nature when it came to Abby. He wanted to be near her and protect her and have her with him all the time. He didn’t even want her out of his sight. I loved that. I want more books like that!
Cant wait for the next book. I was really excited to find out who that book was about.
This book was recommended by a friend and Z, I can't thank you enough!! I freaking loved it! This book is one of the best examples I have ever read of a jealous & possessive hero. It is dark and decadent and had me glued to my kindle from the very first chapter. My first read by this author but after this, wont be my last.
Cain is a beast of a man, both in his actions and looks. He is huge and has been conditioned to always obey "master" and part if that training/conditioning is to never talk. But Cain has a secret, his "inside smiles" and when he meets Abby, he thinks maybe one day he will show her his inside smile. Abby has been kidnapped and is to be a prize in a death match for the winner. She immediately knows that if she stands any chance of survival, it will be with Cain. I can't get into this book much more than that as it will spoil it for the next reader but trust me, if you enjoy a hot, steamy, dark romance with an extra JP hero, this one will be for you. (I must add that there were a couple of things had had me thinking "how would he know what that is / how to do that" but it didn't take away any of my enjoyment of this book.)
Well written from a dual pov, there is no cheating and can be read as a standalone with a hea. Not intended for readers under 18 and contains triggers like violence. I highly recommend this book.
Ok read. Similar to a theme I have read before of the animalistic fighter except with his female kept and conditioned in a detention facility by the mad owner. Added to the not so creative storyline, the timeline of their adventure was unrealistic. The heroine falls in love with the hero in two / three days; the facility, discovered and dealt with in one week. Unrealistic too was the book’s handle on how this 20-year conditioned fighter learns to deal with the world and people he has no familiarity with. This takes more than love. I did not enjoy the heroine’s interaction and treatment of him as if he were a child and it felt was at odds with their sexual relations. He was alpha because he was a killer but he was otherwise damaged, violent, and immature.
Not much really transpired in the book from the underground fighting facility to freedom, not much world building / description or change in location. Ok read.
Good idea. I think it needed to be longer and fleshed our to really be good and not just cookie cutter. I struggled a little to finish it at times but it was ok
