This is a set of OK mail-order bride romances. They are all novella length, set in the late 1800's, with women from the Eastern US going to Montana as mail-order brides. They are all OK, but I didn't really sense that much of a connection with any of the couples. In 3 of the stories, the woman has chosen to be a mail-order bride because of desperate circumstances (undeserved social ruination, unwanted arranged marriage, and financial problems). One story is for the personal maid of one of the 3 women -- she traveled west with her, because they were friends as well as employer/employee.

I think my main problem with all the stories was that I just didn't like the men very much. They were spoiled and immature (30 yr. old brothers always fighting like children? Ugh!) and very controlling. There is no excuse for the spoiled, immature behavior. I do get that men in that time period were controlling of women, but it bothered me that the women let them get away with that behavior and still fell in love with them. In one story, the man wanted to keep his wife safe by making her stay home alone all the time (like a prisoner, really) -- In that story, I really didn't see how she would ever have forgiven him enough to want to stay with him. In all the stories, the men basically controlled everything the women could do, many times making the women very unhappy.

With the poor behavior of most of the men, I had a really hard time believing that any woman would fall in love with them. The women might stay married because they had no other options in that time period, but they probably would not be in love -- not unless the men changed their ways, and I didn't really see that happen in these stories.

An enjoyable quartet

It was enjoyable and rather interesting to have stories in which men have to learn to adjust to forward thinking women. They may learn to love them, but can they understand or handle them? Each man was trustworthy, lovable and hard working and sometimes flawed in their thinking, yet totally different from each other. All are friends, as are the women. A little bit of escapism and fun to read.

Montana Brides for all seasons

I enjoyed this set of books very much. The same Montana family, but with new mail order brides arriving for the different single men. It was good to know how the first one got on and then her relationships with the girls who followed. Very entertaining book. Thank you.

Good Read

This set was interesting to read. It gave you insight on how life was back in the early years of Montana and how each of these four women reacted to their lives, and how they handled it. Enjoyed these stories.

Four stars

I’d have given five stars if not for the errors contained within the books.

Also, another reviewer said the bedroom scenes were too much, they aren’t, really. It’s more than some, but not overly descriptive.

Decent stories

I enjoyed these books about mail orderbrides who found love. All had to over come challenges and work at developing good marriages. The only thing I didn't like was the frequent use of the phrase "and such" which I found rather annoying.

Montana Brides for All Seasons

Lady Eugenia Price has adds in the Matrimonial Gazette for mail order brides. So far Wilhelmina, Aurora, Lucille and Esther have found husbands through her. Hildie McQueen shows how it’s hard for both husband and wife to get along at first.

Very good reading

This is a good series of settlement in the West. It's a bit repetitive. It's mostly clean and could be recommended to anyone

Very enjoyable set of mail order bride western romances. All were interconnected but could be read as a stand alone. Well Written.

Great collection

This set of mail order bride books are outstanding. Each story is emotional, gripping and unique. The author brings out the character of each bride and groom. The brides need new lives but they find so much more.
