Read other books from this author in the future: yes

It’s difficult to write about this book without giving much away. So I am hiding my comment. There are passages at the beginning and at the end which had a good pace and were interesting but the middle part was a bit to long (more: see spoiler). I will read the third part, because I want to see how this will end.

Wishful Thinking picks up exactly where the previous book left off and I’m happy, yes I know I’m weird, to say that it wasn’t easy peasy lemon squeezy for the guys to save Syn. Syn went through some torture (trigger warning) that was realistic. She didn’t get the easy way out and neither did the guys.
Everyone had to own up to their part in the whole mess that led to Syn being captured. Syn suffered a lot and it was a process for her to overcome her pain. I appreciated that her PTSD was handled nicely.
Though the recovery process stronger relationships are formed, new “family” members are introduced - some you’ll love, others you’ll hate (in looking at you g-ma 😡) - the past is revealed, and (what we’ve all been waiting for....) some sexy times!
Overall, this was a very relationally driven book and was a good follow up as it helped ground all the MCs and prepare them for what’s to come. Syn was still a strong, easily relatable heroine and the guys were drool worth in their love for her - even if it took a few of them to come around and get their heads out of their butt!
The third book promises a big finale for the Jinn world!

So ... no. Just no.

This book continues on with the same amateur problems I mentioned in my review of the first book. But it compounds them. Honestly? This is a 600 page book where pretty much nothing happens.

The first big chunk of it, picking up after the cliffhanger at the end of book 1, is quite frankly torture porn. A big extended sequence of seeing a main character get tortured while the other main characters kind of hang out with their thumbs up their butts. I legitimately do not understand how useless these guys seem. Like, we have what we are told are the first Quad-Jinn in CENTURIES, but they haven't been trained to do anything, and they are largely just set on the sidelines when it comes to dealing with a crisis. This is a trilogy. We are in book 2. At what point are we going to see these people start to do ANYTHING, much less become the badasses they are apparently destined to be?

When we finally move out of the torture porn and into the slow - sloooooooooow (because for some reason that is literally never explained and no one seems to question or want to solve Arsyn is resistant to healing magic being used on her ... not any other magic, though, it seems) - recovery section, we run into the next bit of stupidity: the bitchy head of the Jinn Council. Guys, we're told that the Jinn are primarily peace-loving. Furthermore, we're told that strong bad emotions are how they become evil Jinn. They're like, tainted to the Dark Side and become Sith Sihr. So here we have a Love Jinn (really? yes really) who is the biggest bitch for no reason. Are we supposed to believe she's not evil? Because I'm pretty sure she's evil. Oh, and plot twist: she's the boys' grandmother. So let me understand: this Quad Jinn is supposed to protect her from all the bad out there, and they're going to fight the supreme Sith Lord Original Black Jinn who is rising ... but they let Grandma just shit on her and threaten to have her birthright (being Archivist) taken away by making up new rules whenever she wants just because she's a giant bitch? GTFOH with this. I'm rolling my eyes. To death.

I can see where this is going. and I'm so annoyed and not here for it that I can't be bothered. And y'all, it's a HUGE deal for me to walk away from a series. I'm pretty neurotic about finding out what the end of the story is, once I've started. I'd be surprised if I quit more than a dozen series in my whole life. But yeah, I'm out.

This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Wooaw this book was so worth the waiting, it was a rollercoaster and i had to stop reading at some parts iof the book cuz of how intense and emotionall it was. I had to pick up something else between this book. I got just annoyed and confused sometimes by the guys behaviour but i understand them.
And Omg i om so pissed at that old hag/lady (the guys granny) she's so stuck up and i just want to lash back when she attacks Arsyn with her words n stuff

And that dude Ren, Ugh he's soo stupid that motherfucker

Soo…’steamy sex’ must mean something completely different in the lower hemisphere..?
Just wondering, because this book said there would be some of those in here and what we actually got was a ton of fading in and out of the black, with vague hints at what happened before and after…?
Um. I’m just confused. And really disappointed.
I was really looking forward to getting that intimacy with the guys and instead we only get the beginning and the end, like in a TV show where it cuts out and back in to show them panting under the sheets..😑
Ugh. Why even put a 18+ rating and the phrase ‘steamy sex’ in the blurb if you’re just gonna cut out all the actually good parts?
So freaking frustrating.
And the fact that we had to wait one full book And about 70% of a second book just to get That makes it even worse, for me.
Here I was, waiting excitedly, with my hopes all up about getting some good smuttyness, only to have it completely wiped not once, but three fucking times.😒
I’m feeling a bit salty. If you couldn’t tell.

*sigh*
The rest of the book was, fine, I guess.
At this point, I feel like this series could’ve been condensed into one book, about 500 pages or so, and we would’ve gotten the same info.
There’s just not a ton actually happening.
I mean, it’s not like the sex is actually taking up any important space in this, they could have just left that completely out, marketed it differently, and it would’ve been a perfectly fine, high school level YA.
Hell, what am I saying? It could be that Now. The only thing in it that’s really ratcheting up the age level on it is the descriptions of abuse in both books, both past and present.
I mean.
IS it YA?
Did I miss something?
I feel swindled.

I don’t think I’ll be reading the last book, honestly.
This one sort of ruined the vibe, for me.
I need some smut dammit.
This was so unsatisfying.

Arsyn Henley has just found out that she is the Conduit to the first Quad Jinn, Killian, Elijah, Zachary, and Talan in hundreds of years. However, her Quad didn't tell her, they kept it a secret from her. The shock, hurt, betrayal, and anger she felt towards her Jinn caused her to make a terrible mistake. One she may pay for with her life. Her Jinn must do everything in their power to find their girl before Darkness has its way with her.

Wishful Thinking is a sequel I have looked forward to since the moment I finished the first book of The Conduit Trilogy. That cliffhanger destroyed me and I have been craving Syn and her Jinn since then. This book did not disappoint! Oh, my jinn it is fantastic. It's brutal, dark, destructive, painful. It's sweet, caring, hopeful. It's sexy, steamy. Syn is an incredible lead female. She's broken, damaged again. She has moments of self-pity and her PTSD is legitimate. It's portrayed exceptionally well. She's also intelligent, determined, grateful, and loving. She's a survivor in the truest sense. She doesn't just exist, she lives. Her Jinn are a set of complex brothers. Each is loving and kind but they are not perfect. They make mistakes. They keep secrets, makes bad calls. They have human moments of self-doubt, guilt, anger, remorse. But they each love Syn completely. The supporting characters are well-developed and vital to the story. The Kismet extended family is awesome. The Quad's parents, the twinlets, and Benji are wonderful. Benji and Fritz's relationship is beyond funny. Zeno is a great addition and the flashes of Arthur are appreciated. Grandmother Annie not so much! The Sihr, Ren, and the Master are all worthy, dangerous enemies.

This is a well-written, lengthy book. There's so much story. Obviously the abduction, rescue, and the aftermath. There are multiple stories mingling together; the personal side with the boys, with family, with Zeno, the Archivist side, the Jinn, and the Sihr, We get Jinn history and current politics. It's detailed, complex, and multi-faceted. So much thought and attention were given to each aspect of the Jinn and their world. I feel like if I go to Pigeon Forge now I would see it with new eyes, searching for Jinn. It's that vivid.

The book starts out intense and this intensity continues to build up throughout the book. Fear builds, but so does hope. I am already anticipating the final book. The relationships, the war, the surprises; I know that it will be amazing!

Book two in this thrilling trilogy and the excitement is growing. We get to know Arsyn better and to see her bonds and feelings grow with her jinn quad. With danger and problems coming from more than one direction, it is a wonder Arsyn does not break

Beautifully written, it gave me a major case of the feels. It had me glued to the page and pulled me in with every word I read. It is a great storyline, it is gripping and my heart was in my mouth for our heroine at times, and with twists and turns I absolutely loved it and am so very excited to read the final book in the series

I love Arsyn and all of her Jinn. I love that in this book their love and just relationships in general are growing stronger. I have a feeling they are going to need it for book 3. I am excited to know what will happen in book 3 and will be sorry to see this great series end. I can't wait for the Melding and I really hope babies come next. Maybe the authors will either let us know she is pregnant in the next book book or hint at it in the end. I don't have any complaints about this series and love every minute of it. Book 3 come out quickly!

A 3.5 star read.

First, I didn't hate it. I think Arsyn was a bit dramatic. She annoyed me the first part of the book, but by the end she started to get her backbone and I started to warm up to her.

The guys were a tad bit too childish for me but they didn't annoy me. The story line is pretty good which is why I will read the final book. I am intrigued enough to want to see how this story ends.

If you read the first book, I would recommend you continue with the series.

Book 2 was better than book one, something I didn't think possible. I loved getting to see Arsyns bond grow with her boys.

It was beautifully written and completely engaging

After waiting what seemed like a lifetime for this book (I have the patience of a 2 year and wanted book 2 the minute I finished book 1), I finally got my greedy, little hands on it. One thing about waiting for a book is that you start to wonder if book 2 is going to be worth the wait, is it going to be as good as the first one, etc. because you have the time to start questioning these things. Well I can now say with absolute certainty that this book is worth the wait, and is a fantastic continuation from book 1. This book doesn't just continue on from the first one but also grows and develops the story arc and leaves you wanting more (still have the patience of a 2 year old and yes, I desperately want book 3). The trials, pain, and growth the characters go through in this book is phenomenal, and I love that the authors committed to the trials that the characters needed to go through in order to come out stronger, rather than the typical situation of 'I've set up this big thing that would allow this character to develop but no, I don't want them to get hurt, etc. so nothing actually happens and the hero saves the day, and the character doesn't grow.' This is a situation I've come across a few times too many in recent years and never fails to irritate me - so much wasted potential, and also so much effort on the author's part to set it up and then not follow through. Not the case with this book - you are going to experience an emotional roller coaster ride but its all worth it. I'm now off to read book 1 and 2 while I impatiently wait for book 3, which is coming next year.

Wishful Thinking (The Conduit #2) by K.B. Ladnier and Anita Maxwell
I received this book from the author for an honest review.
First up, if you haven’t read book 1 please do so or you will miss important information as this book picks right up when the last book ended.
So Arsyn is a bit hurt, betrayed and pretty upset that her 4 hotties decided to keep her in the dark about the fact that she is the Conduit to the quad. If that isn’t enough, this hasn’t happened in like FOREVER so yeah she is none to pleased with the guys.
As the book starts Arsyn is kidnapped by some bad dudes!! They are Followers of the Dark. Her hotties are doing all they can to find her. But I wont lie, Arsyn goes through A LOT when she is kidnapped and some of it might not be reading for everyone….if you get my drift……so go into this with eyes wide open to possible stuff you might not want to read.
The guys fight to get her back but even when she returns there is a lot that needs to be worked through. Each of the guys provide something for Arsyn..something she needs but the groups as a whole is suffering and needs to figure stuff out in a big way!!
Yes of course this is a cliffy book so be ready to wait to see what happens in the last installment of the series.

I had been dying to get my hooks into the second book in The Conduit series and I can tell you now I was not disappointed! This book, like it's predecessor Make Me A Wish, was beautifully written and well edited. The story picks up right where MMAW left off and your thrown right into the action from the first.

Syn goes through an awful lot of terrible abuse both mentally, physically and emotionally in this book so fair warning, but it is well written and her journey with her quad Jinn through her ongoing recovery and PTSD as well as delving into the boys own emotional and mental trauma and seeing how they all one by one and finally as a whole pull each other from the dark that could destroy a lesser bond was beautifully told. I was rooting for them the whole time.

I also really enjoyed getting to know the secondary characters. All were fully developed, where sometimes I find I'm thinking...who was that now? Not at all with this book which I appreciated, and I loved that we discover and learn more of the Jinn world and what Syns role will become within that.

All in all I loved this book and highly recommend the series. I can't wait for the 3rd!!!

Book 2 in the conduit trilogy series.

Wow this book is great. It picks up from where book one ends. I was amazed with how much raw emotion it has and how beautifully written it is. It has a rollercoaster of emotion hitting you straight in the feels from the very first chapter and only gets more so the further along it goes. Arsyn, the main character is remarkable and strong. She goes through so much abuse both mentally and physically from her past to present. Even though she struggles she still manages to be strong, taking one step at a time with the help of her hunky men. Her men have really shown their true individual personalities more so in this book, and I feel like they've grown a lot and became more likeable. It's nice to see how much they care for Arsyn; going to great lengths to protect and keep her. There's a lot of darkness going on, but light will always win and those small moments with Arsyn and her men show that.

Overall I really enjoyed this book. The writing has improved from the very first one, I can only imagine how amazing the next will be. I'm looking forward to book 3!

Wishful Thinking picks up right where Make Me A Wish left us. Arsyn is missing and the guys are distraught that not only did she leave them but that she’s now also been taken. Self blame ensues. Meanwhile, Arsyn is blaming herself while simultaneously being tortured. Cue the next 20 chapters full of anguish and self blame by all the main characters. But this second instalment hooks you right in, the heartache and emotions are so achingly heartfelt that you just can’t put it down. Ladnier and Maxwell certainly like to push their heroine to the very breaking point but Arsyn is a survivor and she never gives up.

If you thought that the first book was full of big emotions and heavy subjects then wait until you read this one. Things between Arsyn and the guys are beginning to heat up and we get some steamier scenes towards the second half. And we get to find out more about the Jinn world and wish magic.

I really enjoyed Wishful Thinking but I was a bit disappointed that the grammatical errors that plagued the first book were also present in this one. Also, I feel it’s worth mentioning but there is a big trigger warning on this second instalment but this time no cliffhanger.

Yowza!!

Syn and her guys end up fighting for all its worth to not only to survive, it to get back to each other. Hurt and perplexed at learning the guys kept her in the dark about being their Conduit, Syn fled .... unfortunately someone else was determined to keep her. When her beloved dog shows up bleeding, the guys knew something was WRONG!!! Though their folks think she just fled from fear, Syn's beloveds know something else is going on. Very quickly they discover just how dire things are. For their beloved Syn is in the hands of their enemy. Will she survive? Can they reach her in time? All kinds of things await you in the pages of this exciting book. We learn more about how the Jinn operate...and get a glimpse into their governing body. Oh yea...who is ruled by the guys friggin GRANDMOTHER.....surprise! A few other surprises pop up along the way. I for one can't wait to see what happens next. Lots of intrigue, politics, love, patience, and secrets revealed await you in this EXCITING book!

This book picks up RIGHT where the last book left off. Arsyn, our resident four-Jinn Conduit has been kidnapped.

This book covers a LOT of action, both "world" action and "relationship" action.
The reader learns so much in this book as Arsyn does. We get to learn much more about what being Jinn means, what being the archivist means, a brief glimpse into her past thru the help of Zeno, and a glimpse into Jinn politics (warning: there's a cranky future grandmother-in-law that's just as manipulative as you'd worry about). Syn's relationship with the guys grows (if you were waiting for a little heat, fear not, there's some heat in this one). I felt like Arsyn grew a lot as a character in this one. She's finally beginning to see herself as a Jinn/Conduit. There are many moments where characters have to admit their failings and own up to their own mistakes.

It's a great book! I'm so glad KB and Anita took the time to make this book so great. I will happily wait a year for the next one. I've no doubt it will be just as good as, if not better than, this one.

So this book picks up from the ending of the last book Make Me a Wish where Arsyn gets kidnapped after fleeing from her Jinn after finding out they have been keeping a big secret from her. She is their conduit. There is a good bit that happens in this book including the relationship between Syn and her Jinn progresses and there are a couple of sexy time scenes! YAY!!! It is a little rocky at first when Syn is reunited with her Jinn Talen, Killian, Elijah and Zachary A few of the guys feel guilty over what happened to Syn and it takes a while to get back to normal (well almost normal). We meet some new characters like the wicked grandmother of the West, she gets to meet the council and learn a secret about a certain set of twins (not telling which set). Arsyn grows a lot in this sequel and she is starting to become who she was meant to be, and the guys are opening up even more and spending some one on one time with Syn. I cant wait to see what happens next and learn about the great things that Syn and her Jinn are going to accomplish together!!

Became a miss for me

---SPOILERS---
This series started out so promising for me. Here are the highlights of what went wrong for me in this book.
+ Her first time seemed abrupt and the person didn't make sense to me
+ Zach's first time was only a paragraph!
+ Eli's particular brand of "affection" didn't make sense to me and felt like it didn't align with who I felt he was (at least to the extreme the authors chose)
+ Grandma Annie - her behavior, who she's supposed to be, and how the family and Syn reacted about/to her
+ She seriously hasn't confronted her good ole uncle about why she was left in the system? Things are hunky dory? Doesn't feel like there was any real resolution there for her anger to just dissipate.

With all that said, these are my issues and you may not feel the same. This is still well written and you should give it a try to see if it's something you are ok with.

What a fabulous sequel!! I could not put this book down for the life of me. Cannot wait to purchase this in paperback, will look amazing on my bookshelf! We have to see Syn kinda fall apart after finding out the brothers kept important info from her and see her put the pieces back together with the guys with the help of some amazing side characters. I didn't think I was going to laugh so much reading this book. After the beginning (which was amazing and pretty serious/intense), it was a great change of pace to get the humor in this story. Loved meeting more of the boys' family (maybe some spinoff series in the future?!?) and getting to learn more about some the Jinn culture, helped me get a good picture of everything/better understand them.

Anite and KB should continue their writing partnership after this series ends, I am loving everything they write ❤️

Okay so

First off: still a lot of grammatical and editing errors.
Second: you can seriously tell this is written by two people - it is stunted and doesn’t flow well as a result.
Third: things are put off or brushed aside for no reason other than to stall. Story progression suffers as a result.

I really liked the idea of this series but it suffers great flaws in its story. The biggest one being that it is known for conduits to be unstable until they meld. Yet big bad jinn leader thinks arsyn is irresponsible/unfit to lead....knowing she’d be unstable due to a lack of melding? Like...? How does that make sense, seriously. The authors made a forced “bad guy” in the council and it doesn’t make sense. Things are purposely left out to try and add drama and it is forced.

This could have used better story mapping for sure.

Ok, I have been waiting for this second book to come out and boy did it not disappoint. This book just started with a bang and kept on going till the end. Syn was an awesome MC and so freaking brave. What she has gone through in life and added what she goes through in this book shows how strong she is. She also, Thankfully has her men there to support her as well and though they can be a bit silly and stupid like any significant other, these guys would give their life for her. Also add in an amazing amount of family support and she'll make it through anything.
I also have to say that you really had me not liking the guys' grandmother and I really cant wait to see how that all works out in the end. Can't wait for book three and see how this story ties up in the end!

oh my jinn!!! it was awesome!! 2nd book in the series so please read book one first as it picks up where the first book make me a wish left off. in this story arsyn is held hostage by ren one of the sihr jinn followers of the dark jinn, as time goes on she has been tortured horribly and begins to lose hope that she will ever see her jinn again, she has a lot of challenges to face in this book and with the help of her wonderful men she will get through. she also learns alot more about her uncle Arthur and what it means to be the archivist. a great read that does leave on a cliffhanger but it's well worth the wait! K.B. Ladnier and Anita Maxwell make an awesome writing team!

It's been a long year waiting to find out what happened to Syn at the bus station. Thank goodness we pick up right where we left off. The poor guys are still distressed after their fight with Syn but discovering she's been taken throws them into a whole new turmoil. Bless Syn, he poor poor soul. She goes through some serious stuff in this book. It's not an easy read to make it through. It's a very emotional journey. Even when they are all finally back together, the road isn't paved in gold for them. Loved this book just as much as the first one and I'm so sad it'll be a year but so excited to see what happens next.

The beauty of this book is it starts right where book 1 finished and we have Syn being abducted and there are some confronting and emotional scenes during this! The guys figure out that their enemy has Syn and do anything to get her back! It is great to see the romance coming along more but I swear at times I really want to slap the guys to wake them up! And then of course we meet the guys grandmother...what a piece of work she is!! Now that is someone I really want to slap! This book really gets the readers attention and sets them up for the third book in the series! Cannot wait...a highly recommended book full of suspense, romance, emotion and politics!!

I could not wait for this book to come out, and let me tell you I was not disappointed. This book kept me on my toes and made me so happy, and now of course I cannot wait until the third book comes out. However, I will be slightly upset as the next book should also be the final book. I always love the interaction between characters and that we get multiple points of view. I also love that we learn more about syns past and what the future is going to hold for all of our favorite characters. You won't want to miss this installment in this amazing trilogy and I highly recommend that everyone picks up this book today.

Mixed Feelings . True rating 3.5 stars

I really wanted to love this book as much as the first but I didn't. There are things that I liked and things that I didn't. I love the multiple POV.s. I love that Arsyn didn't just recover from her kidnapping like nothing happened and that there was an actually recovery process physically and mentally. The book seem a little to drawn out and the characters a little to whiny. Questions kept getting asked but never answered. The romantic scenes seem a little to rushed. I noticed editing and continuity errors this time. But overall I enjoyed the story so far and will read book three.

Lovely next step

I am blown away by the amount of growth in the writing from last year to this next installment. The character development and story structure was just as great as the last book, but the flow and quality of the writing was phenomenal.

I really enjoyed getting to know more about the Jinn, and especially more about being the Archivest. Sun and her Jinn men take steps to get to know one another and deepen their connection.

I'm sad that I have to wait another year for book 3, but it will be well worth it!

Wishful Thinking is an amazing second part to The Conduit Trilogy. I didn't think I could love Arsyn any more but after what she goes through in this book I do. She is so amazingly strong. This book is an emotional rosllercoster and is beautifully and amotional written. There were times I had to set the book down and just take a breather. In this book you get to see her grow and learn and see her relationship with each of her jinn grow. Even though sometimes I want to slap the crap out of some of the guys. I can not wait for Book 3.

Ahhhhh I was a huge pile of emotional mush through this whole book. I want to jump in there and love Arsyn too! ...maybe borrow her sexy jinn for a bit too ;) Seriously though I got so attached to Arsyn in the first book I didn't think I could possibly be more emotionally invested than I already was and this second book just blew it out of the water. You all seriously will not be able to put this down, it will tug at your heartstrings and make you want to move mountains. I have no idea how I will make the wait for the next one but I know it will be worth it. AMAZING. As always!
