★10 Resolutions. 2 Friends. 1 Shot At Love. ★

I’ll admit, having nine New Year's resolutions makes me twitchy. After all, I’m Allison Gottlieb; overthinker, overachiever, hot mess extraordinaire. I’ve spent my entire life trying to be the best but for some reason, I’ve always fallen short. When a near meltdown (and maybe too much champagne) lands me in front of an old friend, things finally start looking up.

If Mateo Ramirez, personal trainer, self-discipline junkie, and the Internet’s favorite smoothie-making underwear model, offers to help you, you say yes. We haven't seen each other in years but if anyone can help me turn my life around, it’s him. His smokin’ hot body is cold, hard proof of that.

Don’t judge me; I’m a lawyer. I like proof. A lot.

Mateo promises to test my limits and help me face my fears. He’s even feeding my neurosis by giving me that wonderfully even-numbered tenth resolution. But what I don’t know is that, in the midst of helping me check each item off my agenda, he has some resolutions of his own. And they all lead to one thing: becoming more than friends.

Eleven romantic comedy authors have teamed up to bring you HAPPY NEW YOU, a sexy, funny, heartwarming story about friendship, perseverance, and finding love in this crazy thing we call life. Oh, and the magic of onesie pajamas.

Eleven talented authors=one epic romance! What a way to kick off a new year! Everyone one of these wonderful authors came together and seamlessly wrote a funny, sweet, and sexy read that will keep you swooning as much as giggling. I was totally hooked to Allison and Mateo right from the beginning. With their sweet friendship blossoming into and even sweeter love.
Allison is a workaholic who’s career has taken over her life. Her personality however is not the cold harsh one you think of when you picture someone with that description. She’s quirky, funny, and truly a sweetheart behind her super serious business exterior and I loved her right from the start. Mateo is the complete opposite of Allison. While definitely driven, his passion is less about being perfect and more about helping everyone he can. A super sexy personal trainer with a heart of gold who also happens to be one big teddy bear when it comes to Allison. There was A LOT of uncontrollable swooning going on for me with these two.
Then they go and top all that with some serious feel good awesome body positivity that made my heart feel like bursting! If you’re looking for a unique read that will steal your heart look no further!

Allison and Mateo... I think I am in love with Allison and Mateo. What a way to start the New Year by reading this well written book that had my favorite authors collaborating on a witty, swoon worthy, romantic book. I was surprised as each chapter flawlessly flowed into the next. You didn't know where one author started and one stopped. The characters were so wonderfully written that I found myself forgetting that they were in a book. I felt as though I was watching them fall in love from a far.

I wasn’t sure how a collaboration among so many authors would turn out, but I shouldn’t have worried, because Mateo and Allison’s story was fantastic. Their styles all meshed wonderfully and I didn’t feel any choppiness between chapters or confusing breaks in the book.

Allison is a workaholic who has zero social life, zero time for others, and zero ANYTHING outside of work. She overhears her boss being less than nice about her at a party on New Year’s Eve, is saved by a friend from making a scene (a friend who she doesn’t recognize as a friend yet because of the cutthroat environment in which they work), and then runs into an old friend/crush, Mateo (while liberating a bottle of champagne for later). Mateo offers to help her with her resolutions, and so begins a whirlwind year of change.

Mateo has been in love with Allison since high school, but he’s sure that she’s only ever seen him as a friend. While helping her write her list of resolutions, he writes one more for her, but doesn’t let her see it. (Don’t worry, we learn what the final resolution is later in the story, but not without a lot of progress and regression along the road to a new Allison.)

Mateo pushes Allison when she needs it, even if she doesn’t WANT it, and supports her above all else. Allison makes some hard choices during her year of transformation, learns what true friendship is, and finally breaks free of the narrow life she’s found herself stuck in, just in time to prove to Mateo that yes, she really did learn how to just be ALLISON, and not what everyone else expects to see or get from her.

I love how Allison truly works for a new her and how she learns just how special true friends are. Dani, the friend she didn’t realize she had, Mateo, and even Mateo’s slacker-ish roommate, Seth, all help her find herself, bit by bit. She and Mateo work hard to find their HEA and truly make this a story worth reading.

Collaborations make me nervous because you never know how multiple writers will come together with a story. Well I have to say this was absolutely fantastic!!! The storyline was seamless and addictive. Mateo and Allison were well developed, along with the side characters, and had me so drawn into their story I did not want to stop reading. This story also made me want to change my lifestyle to ensure I incorporate what makes me happiest instead of what is expected. Highly recommended! I also have found some new authors I will be reading as well.

Allison’s world is all about her job at a prestigious law firm and climbing its partnership ladder, but she has no personal life or personality outside her work ethic. That is until Mateo Ramirez comes back into her life. They’ve known each other since high school, and Mateo’s loved her since then, but Allison firmly placed him in the friend zone all those years ago, and he’s stayed there ever since.

Mateo knows just what Allison needs to push herself outside her comfort zone, but will he be able to push her into his arms for the relationship he knows they both deserve? Will Alison be able to find that balance between the work she loves and the life she wants, and, if she does, will it be enough to prove to Mateo that she deserves a second chance?

Mateo is the type of partner we can only hope we have, and Allison’s quirky nature may remind us of the awkwardness we may have experienced when trying to establish who we are in life. Together they are so delightful and fun. It takes time for them to reestablish their relationship, but the slow build just increases the anticipation, making their story that much more enjoyable. This is a wonderful love story full of humor, lots of feelings, emotional ups and downs, sexy passion and a lot of heartwarming moments. I highly recommend this charming and engaging romance.

If one didn't know this book had been written by 11 different authors, it would be hard to guess. It is stuff hhh an entertaining novel, very funny, sassy, sexy and kind off romantic in between the ups and downs in the relationship.
Allison, a self confessed workaholic lawyer and Mateo a successful PT have history but also lots of chemistry. Alyson just had to learn to make better priorities, namely Mateo. This hs entertaining and fun as both characters learn about themselves, what they want and need and what they will put up with. A fascinating story from 4 of my favourite authors and 7 new to me authors, which are fast becoming my favourites as well. Such a great idea to team up and so successful!

An inspiring and sweet story about how to become a better version of yourself!

4,5 stars

Such a sweet and appropriate book for this time of year. It was also a stand alone, slow burn romance about two people that, even being made for each other, had to work on being together...just like in real life.

Allison is a controling workaholic and has been that way for a very long time. She is involved and absorbed in her work, that her job became all her life, so some changes were needed asap.

Mateo almost got into that crazy life as well, but seeing it wasn't for him, years before he decided he wanted to work just as much but at something that would fullfill him, and that is how he became a personal trainer, focused on health and balance between everything in his life, since the smoothies he teaches on Instagram, to his love life and dreams.

They met in high scool and since then they had a crush on each other, but never acted on it, favoring their friendship over a romance that couls blow. They went to law school together, and that is when Matty realized that life wasn't for him, but Al wasn't so understanding at the moment, and that brought a gap between them.

Years later, when her dreams at work are crushed for having no social life, right on New Year's Eve, Life gives another chance, not only to fix her job, but more importantly, to fix her choices at life and about herself, and that had the potential to change all her path. So, with the help of a sweet, loyal and heck of a patient Matty, she decides she wants to be a New Person.

Their feelings grew slowly, or, better yet, their aknowledgment about those feelings, but step by step, resolution after resolution, they became closer and stronger.

I got to say, Allison drove me crazy a lot of times. She was self centered and spoke ill words without thinking about them first, always priorizing her work above almost everything else.

But that made sense to the story and the plot. Actually, it made it more realistic. It's not an easy task to build a "New You . It demands a lot of mental and emotional work. It's hard to fight some instincts you fed for so many years. The good point is that she wanted to change, she liked the changes that she already accomplished and she had Mateo by her side to help her through it all.

I loved how Matty stood up for himself and needed, it showed amazing self respect and loyalty to himself, and it was necessary to push Al to find out what she trully value.

It was not about sacrificing dreams and likes, it was about compromising, acting like a team and finding a real space in your own life for the one you love.

As I said, it was inspiring and even made me want to be a better version of myself. A New Me.

Happy New Year/You , guys!

What a sweet and funny story this is! I had reservations as to whether a book written by eleven authors could work, but the story flowed seamlessly and was a delight to read.

Allison is a workaholic lawyer and Mateo is her childhood friend. They lost touch when he dropped out of law school to pursue his dream of becoming a personal trainer.

Although he’s successful in his field, Allison struggled to understand his choice and they drifted apart. A chance meeting at a New Years Eve party put them back in each other’s lives. After ditching the party and catching up with each other, Mateo promises to help Allison achieve the New Years resolutions she sets out for herself.

The resulting story is funny, sweet and swoony. Mateo has been holding a torch for Allison for years and he’ll take any opportunity to spend time with her. Allison needs to have more to her life than work - will she finally see Mateo for the great guy he is? Can she make room in her life for him?

Mateo and Allison are a brilliant couple and I loved this story so much. I really rooted for their HEA.

Lawyer Allison Gottlieb wants more out of life and writes 9 new year's resolutions. When Allison asks her handsome friend Matty to help her with the 10th resolution, he scribbles something, tears it off and puts it in his wallet. Personal trainer Mateo Ramirez has wanted the beautiful Al for as long as he can remember but when he dropped out of law school they lost touch. Getting to know Al again has rekindled those feelings and now he might have a chance. One of Allison's new year's resolutions is to get in shape and Matty helps her with that. Allison has crushed on Matty forever and asks for his help with another of her resolutions ... perfecting the art of kissing. Matteo is more than happy to help out and tells Al "You know what they say: practice makes perfect." Will Allison and Matteo finally become more than friends?

Happy New You is one incredible read. It is written so seamlessly that you wouldn't even know that these amazing 10 authors each wrote a part. They each did a fantastic job bringing Allison and Mateo to life. I fell in love with workaholic Allison and friend zoned personal trainer Mateo from the start. This is such a fun read that I couldn't put down. Mateo is so swoony. You fall more and more for him as the read goes on. The changes in Allison in the end is worth waiting for. They have such chemistry. I still can't believe this was written between eleven authors. They gave the sweet and funny all wrapped up in to one amazing package. This is the perfect read to jump start your new year. This is a one click that you need to read. Fantastic job ladies.

This was a great read written by a number of authors, some that are new to me. I liked the storyline and the characters and I enjoyed how Allison and Mateo found each other again. They were friends in College but drifted apart. Needless to say workaholic Allison isn't sure what she's in for when Mateo becomes her personal trainer. I rather enjoyed the banter, the budding friendships and relationships that developed and I especially liked how it ended.
A good story! How all these authors wrote this together is beyond my understanding but I think they did very well.

What a fun and inspiring read for the new year. I loved the concept of this book and was excited to dive right in, this story flowed so well from beginning to end that you did not notice the change in author. Allison and Mateo are two great characters in this friends to lovers story about reflecting on your life and setting and keeping goals or resolutions for yourself. If you are looking for a sweet read for the new year then this book is it!

This second chance love story is so heartbreakingly sweet and enthralling and sexy hot. Where one author leaves off and another takes up the writing is seamless. The tale of Matty and Al feels so large because of their remembrances of their youth, and their present day “will they or won’t they” is just tantalizing. I truly couldn’t put this book down till it was finished. Smile, sigh...

4.5 ⭐️!

I loved the premise of the book and I am a total sucker for Friends to Lovers as a troupe.

I am shocked that so many authors collaborated together for this book. It did not feel choppy at all. The book flowed nicely together. I loved seeing things from both Mateo and Allison’s POV. Loved that the chapters were actually by months. Watching Allison attack her resolutions through the months was fun to see.

There was a few moments where I was laughing out loud during the book, and I always love a book that can make me laugh with the characters.

After reading this book, I will be checking out some more of these authors that are new to me.

It surprised me! The write up sounded hokey, but the characters were believable, and yes, sympathetic. I actually cared that they got their acts together! Well done! I am not sure just how that many authors were able to sync a story that well. There must have also been a great editor involved. i finished this in less than one day!

I have to start off by saying how amazing it is that eleven authors were able to create one book that read like one author wrote it. To be honest, I couldn't tell where one author ended and the other would begin. That is definitely a talent!

Happy New You was a fun book to start off the year with. Everyone thinks about resolutions, but most people don't write ten to complete for the year. Except if you're Allison. She's an overachiever and overthinker (exactly how she describes herself) and kind of had a breakdown at a party New Year's Eve. All her hard work apparently won't be paying off and she doesn't know how to deal.

Mateo seemed like a hardworking guy and is only at a party to have the chance to speak to a potential investor. That doesn't go as planned and the last person he expects to see is Allison, the woman who he's had a crush on since high school.

Allison and Mateo are so much fun and reading about them at a café writing resolutions was really fun. Allison is determined to change in the new year. Getting in shape, learning how to flirt, cooking a signature dish are all resolutions she's got planned to accomplish. Mateo being a personal trainer just happens to work out perfectly.

Every chapter tells us what month of the year it is. I loved reading both POVs and how they were experiencing everything. Mateo is determined to open his own gym where even the less fortunate can come and work out. He's a hardworker and I love how much he cares for people. I'm sure the shirtless smoothie selfies help the following as well, haha. Mateo is the perfect gentleman even when he doesn't want to be.

Allison was a frustrating character at times. Her mother won't leave her alone about settling down and having kids when all she thinks about is her career. Staying up all night or even working all weekend is something she sees as normal. Allison doesn't seem to know how to let loose until Mateo starts getting her out of her comfort zone. I loved seeing Allison do things she never would and start to feel good about herself.

The romance in this book was a lot of fun. I loved that it was slow burn. It was clear there was an attraction, but they took it slow. It took Allison awhile to realize what was going on. Mateo was so sweet and patient while Allison started figuring things out. Her work definitely caused some issues though. She just couldn't let go. Allison takes awhile to understand that there is more to life outside of work. And she frustrated me when she would let this amazing man go for a contract that could be fixed on Monday morning!

If you're looking for a fun romance, with hardworking characters who have amazing chemistry, this book is definitely for you. Add the scenes with onesie pyjamas and you get a fun book. Happy New You is filled with love, friendship and chasing your dreams!

Allison Gottlieb is an extremely focused, driven, hardworking associate at a prestigious law firm, determined to make junior partner. She spent all her time, indeed, her life, working. Working to further her dreams; that is, until that fateful New Year’s Eve party, when she overheard comments by one of the senior partners….
Mateo Ramirez was an Instagram sensation; a life coach that had been Allison’s friend for decades. They had started out in law school together, but Mateo had realized that his life path wasn’t the same as Allison’s. When Mateo had dropped out of law school, Allison and Mateo had lost touch, but Mateo had never lost the love he harbored for Allison….
Finding Allison drunk at that New Year’s Eve party, Mateo attempts to cheer her up; unfortunately, Allison, even drunk, is a formidably driven person. Allison decides she needs to change her life and Mateo is just the person to help her to do that. He’s her friend, first and foremost, even if he’s much more attractive than he had been when they were in school.
Reluctantly agreeing to help Allison become the best she could be, Allison proceeds to make 9 New Year’s resolutions, but she can’t think of a tenth. Mateo scribbles a final resolution down, and tears it off, telling Allison he would reveal it to her at the end of the year….
Painfully funny, lovingly told, a story that makes you laugh, makes you cry, just makes you shake your head at times. Truly enjoyed this story; it seamlessly flows from page to page, and the characters will grab ahold of your heart until you are rooting for both. Highly recommend to anyone as a great read!

"Happy New You" is the perfect reading for the start of 2019. It is romantic, funny, sexy and last but not least reliable as it features a common dilemma shared by twentieth-century women, that is to say the choice in between a professional career and a family.

It relates the story of Allison, a thirty-year old, single and workaholic lawyer who on New Year's Eve decided to take control of her life and make some notorious resolutions such as "Get in shape" and "Learn to cook a signature dish", in the hope of keeping them.

Enters Mateo, her old school friend and the man who has always had a crush on her. Now all brawny but still as sweety, he dreams of opening an affordable fitness club for everyone, in order to give everyone access to a healthy life. While Mateo is helping Allison fulfill her new year resolutions, some old and new feelings will mingle between the two friends.

Mateo is ready to show Allison that he is (and always has been) the right and only man for her but will Allison give up on her old workaholic habits for his heart? Will she let love surpass work?

They say "great minds think alike" and I could not agree more as this book was written by not any less than ELEVEN authors (yes ELEVEN, you read it right). Every lady's writing skills are combined together to form a perfect lovely friends to lovers romance story cocktail. How they managed to work together remains a mystery to me but I would definitely say more to this incredible collaboration.

OMG! This book is everything! It has the right mix of humor and swoon.
Mateo and Allison have been friends since high school. Mateo fell in love with her at the time but felt that Al always pushed him into the friend zone so friends they remained. They went to college together until Matty dropped out in exchange for his true calling. Personal training. Years have gone by since then where they haven't really seen each other until one New Year's Eve party. Matty catches Al sneaking out of a party and follows her and their friendship picks up where it had left off.
Al has been working her butt off for years in hopes of making partner at the law firm she works at. When some news reaches her ears at the New Year's party she makes plans to change herself and her life. With the help of longtime friend Matty, she makes ten resolutions that she needs to complete by next New Years. What follows is a mix of humor, steam, swoon, emotions. I wanted to cry at one point so yes there is an emotional roller coaster. I loved this story so much and look forward to what these authors have to bring us next.

When I saw that this book was written by 11 different authors, I wondered how that would work. It works great. There's no way to tell that they all wrote this book or who wrote which chapters. Allison Gottlieb and Matteo Ramirez were childhood friends and also went to college to become lawyers. Matteo decided to drop out of school and follow his heart to become a personal trainer. He sees Allison one New Year's Eve when she's sneaking out of a party to celebrate her birthday by herself. They start to reconnect with him helping her to become better physically so she can compete in a company race. She has no idea how difficult that will be since she's also a workaholic and trying to make partner at the law firm. Matteo has always had a crush on Allison. She finally starts to see him in a different way and they become involved but she never puts him first. I like how their relationship evolves and how the book ends. I received a copy from one of the authors in exchange for my honest review.

This is one of the funniest things I’ve read all year. Since we’re not even a full week into the new year, that’s maybe damning the story with faint praise, but don’t take it that way. I have laughed so hard my ribs and abs are going to continue to hurt all day tomorrow. I don’t think I’ve ever read a collaborative book that is held together as tightly as this one. I couldn’t tell where the transitions happen from one author to the next. That may be because I was so thoroughly caught up in Al and Matty’s story that everything else stopped having an impact on me. But it really felt like the team behind this book spoke with a single voice in order to tell their story. I don’t know how painful it was for them to put this together, but it was an absolute joy for me to read and I hope they do it again soon.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the authors.

I absolutely loved Allison and Mateo's story! I really found it to be relatable. Oftentimes we get sucked into the day to day tasks of life and forget to have fun and enjoy life. This book was a beautiful reminder to stop and enjoy life, live each day to the fullest and never take anything for granted. Allison works to much and has very little time for anything outside of the office. However, recent events have shown her that she needs to make some changes. Who better to help her with those changes, then her best guy friend Mateo! Who happens to be ridiculously handsome and a personal trainer who can help her accomplish all of her new years resolutions. It sounds simple enough, but life is rarely ever simple and sometimes fate has other plans for you. Falling in love, wasn't Allison's goal but it was beautiful watching their relationship grow, change and evolve throughout this book. I highly recommend this book!
