Peyton I fell in love with an alien. Our world was invaded by carnivorous freaks and the Dahk swooped in and saved me and my friends. They want to save the Earth but we are our own worst enemy, or so I thought. The truth is we have no idea what's out there. Now I'm on my way to Home World. The Dahk's world. An alien world. I had no choice, it was taken from me. I tell myself I hate him but I don't. I miss him. But we have bigger problems to face. Problems I'll realize are massively more impactful than just myself and my own little space in the universe. There's no room for my hurt feelings, even though Tahk's not done hurting me.
Tahk My mate won't speak to me. I do not blame her for her ire. But I had no choice. I have brought her to my home and I have realized how unprepared she is for my planet and my culture. I could not predict the trials we would face. I have failed her in this. But I will not let her go. She is mine, and nothing and no one will come between us.
The Conclusion to Peyton and Tahk's Romance lies ahead.
***Warninig. For readers 18 years and older. Contains explicit sexual situations, possible triggers, dark themes, and violence. Start of a series featuring these characters and multiple others. Some plot points will remain open throughout the series.
Erin Raegan is an obsessed reader, a dedicated writer, and a lover of all things fantastically impossible. When shes not plotting her next project, she spends hours on her kindle, though nothing beats a real book in your hands. She can be found at home in Connecticut with her chihuahua Minnie, and her German Shepard Odin, waiting with her 6 year old son for her active duty husband to come home.
I'm having a run of excellent luck recently with my book picks and Home World hit a home run for me. I adored book one and book two was equally as enjoyable. We continue our journey here with Peyton and Tahk and this is the conclusion to their story ending in a HFN.
I adore aliens that actually resemble them and Tahk had that part covered in spades. I also appreciated seeing these Aliens in their own habitat it was fascinating and the descriptive narrative used to describe their homeworld, well I could just picture it so vividly in my head.
Peyton's takes stubbornness to a whole new level here and I did think she was a tad unreasonable in some of her grievances. Tahk's duty to his monarch and his integrity and honour was a big part of him. He was really between a rock and hard place and Peyton should have given him a break and been much more understanding than she was given the circumstances. There were definitely times I wanted to give her a shake, but saying that she was also totally correct in being hurt and upset over his lack of transparency when it came to his people's customs.
So this was more angsty than its predecessor we also get introduced to some fresh faces and new problems rear their heads. This was a great continuation of the story and I am looking forward to seeing where this series is heading. The scope for future story growth here is huge.
Peyton was snatched by Tahk and crew and brought back to the Dahk Home World. A dark planet that has lost its sun, and like its people, is slowly dying out. Beautiful, but dark and fading. The mating habits of Dahks is an eye opening upon arrival, as well as the many in-laws. Then the assassination attempts start up. And then the council backs out on Earth, unless a price they don't want to pay is offered. Things just keep getting worse. Maybe she should have stayed on Earth with the carnivorous prophylactics? And just where is Fihk with news about her mom, anyways?
Spoilers ahead. This sequel lost its drive. The punch that was in the first got lost somehow. Peyton went from kick butt to meek. She sent out mixed signals. There was more focus on Vivian and Hector in many places. The Council's betrayal, the jealous ex-mistresses, the assassination attempts, the need about the previous King's plans, the ... It all gets jumbled. By the end I just wasn't sure how I felt about it anymore. Peyton just sort of floats from event to event. As a reader I just sort of floated, too. This one didn't grab me like the previous. I'll keep an eye out for the 3rd and keep my fingers crossed that it will pick back up the mantle of the first.
DNF I don't know what happened 😭 I loved book 1 but this totally tanked for me! The angst was so over done, they weren't even together for 25% of the book, and I am sooooo sick of the "bitchy women from the H's past that hate the new girl" trope!
Like FFS, give me a book about some friendly, welcoming female exes for once! Us women have GOT to stop writing about hating each other and fighting over men! 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
I enjoyed this book more than book 1. Ex drama. Issues with family. No cheating despite it looking like it might happen. No intimate scenes with anyone other than the Hero and heroine. HFN. Breadcrumbs dropped for future books.
I found this book on an Amazon similar from one of my favorite authors, Ruby Dixon. The title, Home World was what drew my interest. I prefer books where you actually get to see the alien’s’ planet. After reading book #1, I immediately started book #2.
Book 2 had a totally different plot from book #1, which I could appreciate. It was like reading a totally different book with characters that I already had made a connection with. A continuation of the series with a totally different plot was refreshing. The story picked up right where book #1 left off with Peyton traveling to Tahk’s home world. His planet was described in great detail. One neat aspect was the solar system’s sun had burned out, turning into a red giant. So, the purple planet had no natural light. It was always veiled in darkness and extremely cold with no functioning sun. They used gems stones that created natural light. The way the planet was explained seemed very beautiful.
One surprised that caused a lot of conflict at the beginning was that even though fate had chosen Peyton to be Tahk’s mate, he conventionally left out his consorts. Normally, a Dahk female could only conceive 1 offspring. So in Tahk’s culture, a man had multiple mates in order to ensure that each female conceived. That didn’t blow over well. Peyton put her foot down and I don’t blame her. She didn’t ask for fate to make him her soul mate—let along agree to share Tahk with other females. Normally, I wouldn’t agree with ultimatums. In this case it was totally called for. I would not have agreed to him having multiple mates, either, screw that. I don’t share.
Peyton & Tahk had a lot of issues and conflict at the beginning of this book. I’m glad they got resolved quickly and it drag out and become silly. I enjoyed watching this couple fall deeper in love. The labor scene with Tark father was probably the funniest that I have read—definitely giving a unique take on labor.
The only thing that I didn’t care for was the 3rd person POV woven into the main book. I’ve seen it done where the prologue or epilogue was done in 3rd person, and then the other chapters in the book are wrote in 1st POV. I personally think that has better flow. There were 4 or 5 chapters in the book that were told from the villain in 3rd person. So to read 1 chapter in 1st person, the next in 3rd, and then back to 1st threw the flow off for me. I would have preferred the villain’s perspective to be in 1st also, since the chapters were within the book. Or just the prologue for example told in a different POV from the other chapters.
Home World was a great sequel. This is a really great sci-fi series that I highly recommend. I’m excited for the next installment in the series
***Spoiler Alert*** This book is the second part of Pythen, in the last book Tahk was acting stupid and all macho while Peyton was childish, I was not happy how the last book ended; thankfully, they vindicate themselves in this book, so it all good.
This series is really interesting. Yes, it’s an erotic & romantic alien story. It’s more than that. It’s a compelling new world, a truly deep, intricate storyline. The characters are totally well rounded & complete. Even the side characters are really interesting. I love it.
I loved book one ! The characters so well written . I laughed so much with Peyton, Vivian, and especially Colt and Bobo too when meeting the alienating would save and change their lives forever called the Dahk ! They are fighting off the first aliens that arrived to stealing sun and eat us ! This book is a continuation of the storyline back on Dahk Home World . It's just as well written with more background information as two different species merge into a United family through many trials and blood shed. This book is for mature adults who like sex that's not enough to burn the pages as you read them ! Lol !! Can't wait til the next book !
This book is not a standalone but the second half of the story of Peyton and Tahk that started in Pythen Galactic Order #1. Ms. Raegan is a very good writer, the book flows nicely from book #1, although a bit slow in the first half. It makes up for that with good action, more in line with the preceding book, in the second half. I'm a huge fan of outer space and aliens but have a more difficult time with love between humans and flying purple ones. The fact that this story has drawn me to a sub-genre that I normally avoid is a true tribute to the writing and stories told by this author.
I have a definite fondness for Peyton's character. She is a thinking, feeling, perceptive realist. Her character and its development has really carried this often bizarre tale of an alien invasion of earth.
Now that I have read two of these books (one story in two parts) I feel that I know more what to expect in the sex scenes. What I like is that they are totally entwined into the plot and not just inserted. What I find less appealing is that they seem somewhat flat, lacking a bit of eroticism.
These books are becoming more and more captivating with quite a bit of suspense threaded throughout. The outer space world building with these aliens and their mysteries of galactic history and politics is becoming more and more interesting.
Warning, though the story of Peyton and Tahk comes to a HEA/HFN, a number of teasing cliffhangers come to the forefront as this second in this series closes. So for me, it is most definitely on to War for Earth Galactic Order #3. Thankfully, Juldo Made Galactic Order #4 will also be released this month.
👏😁 The reread was a success. I liked it better this time around. There is some humor, but overall it's more serious than book one. It's fitting, considering the perilous plot & subplots.
★ The romantic relationship between Tahk (Dahk) and Peyton (human), was my favorite part. It was very sweet, sexy and satisfying. I wish there was a 3rd book about them or at least a novella! Thankfully, they at least continue to be a part of the series.
Dislike: Peyton is attacked three separate times, but is never seriously injured. This is a pet peeve of mine, because it's not believable. 😬
Earth is currently being invaded by the Yilt.
The overarching political intrigue plot, involves the: 🔸Galactic Council/Order, 🔸Dahk King and his council, 🔸Tahk's council, 🔸Dahk traitors on Home World, 🔸and the Juldo and other aliens.
😵💫 It boils down to needing human women for breeding ("Mars Needs Women" trope). Some want to invade Earth and enslave humans. Others want to save Earth and use women as surrogates.
4️⃣ 🇲🇪 2️⃣ 🇷🇪🇲🇪🇲🇧🇪🇷: (Spoilers Below!)
MCs: (alternating POVs) Tahk is the Dahk army commander. He's an alpha male, protective and possessive. Peyton is his true mate.
A true Pythen/Pythe mating hasn't happened in millennia, so many Dahk are shocked and refuse to accept Peyton.
Arxy, the Dahk king, was assassinated. Uthyf became the new king. Tahk had to return Uthyf to Home World, taking an angry and unwilling Peyton with him. Earth is in danger and her mother is missing.
The relationship drama continues until 33%. Peyton is further upset to learn about Tahk's consorts. Dahk males used to have one mate, but declining birth rates led to multiple mates, which didn't stop their decline. Tahk is dedicated to making Peyton happy and plans to send his consorts away. After a heartfelt talk, they reconcile and are now a committed couple.
Tahk leaves to secure the Galactic Order's support to combat the Yilt and save Earth.
MINOR CHARACTERS:
Vivian, Peyton's BFF, and Hector are book four MCs.
Severely injured, Hector and Ford are put in healing vats on Home World. During a Judo battle, Hector is infected with a virus that slowly transforms him into a Juldo, with no cure. Vivian tells Peyton she's pregnant.
Haytu, and his first mate, Myrna. (Tahk's Parents) His other mates are Pyntera, Wayka and Byda. Haytu is nice, but Myrna isn't until Peyton is injured.
Colt and his dog, Bobo, who were in book one. Kudeyas and Vyndor - Tahk's brother & sister Syn and Borv - Peyton's Dahk bodyguards
★ Isin is Findilis, a burrowing creature. He's three-feet-tall, orange, and has four eyes. Tahk who saved him from his species, has him assist Peyton.
🤣 TWO HILARIOUS SCENES:
Isin says his species burrow to mine and breed.Peyton, Vivian and Colt are horrified. ▪️ You burrow to breed?" Viv looked like she immediately regretted asking. Colt scowled at her like he, too, would rather not know. ▪️ "Into the female canal where we fertilize and release her egg." ▪️ "You climb inside her with your whole body?" ▪️ "Yes." Isin shifted his eyes to me, but I was gaping at him in incredulity... ▪️ Vivian winced and slapped her hands over her lap. "Ouch," she breathed, shocked.
😂 Byda has her baby. (It's touching when Peyton holds the baby. She & Tahk wish for their own.) ▪️ “Oh, my God, I can’t unsee it!” Veeveen flailed her hands in the air and spun in a circle, smacking at Yilt as he blocked her exit. ▪️ “Um, Tahk?” Pehytohn shook my arm until I glanced down at her. Her eyes were squeezed shut tightly. “Why is your father’s dick out?”
Apparently, the Dahk had sex to have a baby. While everyone was watching. Vivian and I stayed in the far back of the room as Haytu humped Byda into the bed. Tahk found our mortification hilarious. In fact, all of them did. Syn particularly. He could not stop laughing at us every time Haytu or Byda made very loud noises.
⚔️ THREE ATTACKS: ⑴ Peyton is attacked by Nonya, one of Tahk's ex-consorts. The mysteriously locked door delays her rescue. Nonya is imprisoned instead of executed. Meanwhile, Myrna warms to Peyton.
Hector wants to return to Earth with Ford and Colt, but Vivian refuses to let him board the ship.
⑵ The Juldo breach Home World’s defenses and attack. Peyton is hurt when slammed into a table. The Juldo are defeated, but Hector is infected. The attack was a distraction to abduct the queen. Tahk returns, furious Peyton was targeted twice, leading to a passionate sex scene.
⑶ Defenses are bypassed again. Peyton faces a near-fatal attack from a lion-like Xixin. Tahk and others defeat the creatures with Chyn, a Juldo Shadow-Born. He warns Tahk of traitors in the kingdom, including the queen, then vanishes. Concerned by Peyton’s close calls, Tahk completes their mating by exchanging blood to bind their lives. They make love again.
Someone sent the Xixin assassins. Chyn plans to return for Uthyf and then Hector once he becomes a Juldo. Vivian mourns the man she loves.
Peyton video chats with her mom, who was found.
A Big Secret: Aryx, the former king, knew human females could breed and planned the Yilt's invasion to enslave Earth’s survivors. He did it bc he knew Tahk would oppose him. Uthyf and Tahk vow to help the humans, allying with the Kilbus against the Juldo Master, who controls the Galactic Council.
Epilogue: Two months later, Peyton is pregnant and life is good on Home World. She and Tahk exchange tender words of love. HFN.
2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣1️⃣ 🥱 The first 35% was boring. Just relationship drama lama. This book is more serious than book one. It could've used a few action scenes, b/c it wasn't holding my attention. I kept switching to other books while reading this one.
My favorite part was when Isin explained that he was Findilis, a burrowing species. He went on to explain what that meant, and I found it quite humorous! I chuckled and reread it several times.
I also thought it amusing how the Dahk have babies, and what Haytu had to do in a room full of people (aliens). Those were the parts that I enjoyed most. 🤣
Overall, pretty good. I'm looking forward to reading book 3.
This book was 'outta this world!' I know, I know. That sounds cliche. But honestly, it has everything you could want in an alien sci-fi romance. The characters are real. No forced fake couples. Real couples who fuss and fight, but make up in hot ways. They have fears and doubts about their choices and future. There was espionage, back-stabbing, and lots of intrigue. I love the authors world building, as I felt like I was on Home World, taking in the sights and sounds with the characters. I really enjoyed all the different species we were introduced to. I think that's what a sci-fi romance needs to set it apart from other romance genre's. I am so stoked about the rest of the story as I feel I have a vested interest in the outcome. Thank you, Miss Erin, for a FANTASTIC read. Loved it!
This too needed some editing but a little less than book one so that's a yay! :p
In other news this totally made me want to read the next book. Until I saw it was a MMF *shrugs* You win some, you lose some.
The MCs got better in this, they were less annoying but I have to say plot wise there was too much happening. And so many characters! I could not keep them straight.
I really fell in love with the characters. They were so diverse, from serious to funny. I fell in love with Tankh and laughed with colt. The only problem with this book, is that it is supposed to be the ending for Tankh and Peyton. Yet, I felt like there were loose ends for them. Hopefully the next set of characters, include these two also, to help with closure. Otherwise, I enjoyed the series immensely, and look forward to the next book.
Gah! There really are no words for this series - I absolutely love it! I loved their story, the world building was freaking fantastic, and the series story arc completely has its teeth in me! Can't wait to get into the next book!!
I said I wouldn’t read anymore of this author’s work because of all the errors in Pythen, but I caved, because I wanted to know how Peyton and Tahk’s story ended. Do I regret reading this book? No, I don’t. The story and plot were just as intriguing as the first book, the characters funny and enjoyable, and there weren’t as many errors.
However, the misuse/lack of punctuation still persisted. It probably won’t bother most, but it’s usually so obvious to me,that it takes me right out of the story, and who wants that? Granted, it wasn’t as bad as in the first book, but the author really needs to learn to use apostrophes when she’s trying to convey possession. It wasn’t consistent, which bothered me even more. Sometimes the apostrophe was there and sometimes it wasn’t. It doesn’t affect the story, but it was very distracting to me.
Again, the story and characters were enjoyable, but it needs some editing. I read this book to find out what happened next between Tahk and Peyton, but I won’t be reading the rest of the series.
It picks up pretty close to where the first book left off. It jumps ahead and skips some of the space travel, coming in right before they arrive on Home World.
I do t really want to give a recap because I wouldn’t really know where to start. So much happens, so many twists and turns. There was a lot packed into this and I found it extremely satisfying.
I’m glad we didn’t have to wait too long for a resolution between Peyton and Tahk, but I’m also glad she didn’t give in too easily either. I thought it was perfect. Tahk made it clear he would rather forsake any and all than ever let Peyton feel hurt. I looove that kind of man in a book. It made it so much easier to forgive his mistakes and oversights.
My only complaint is that it ended. I didn’t want stop reading about them. I know this is only the beginning of a series, but I also know I will crave these two when reading the other books. I want to experience the upcoming events in their lives.
This book really set the stage for some conflicts in the upcoming books. There are enemies, hidden and obvious all over the place, coming from all sides. This book kind of ends on the cusp of some huge potential wars. Erin did such a wonderful job setting up her series.
I just, LOVED it!
I’m so sad I finished the book so fast. Now what? What do I read now? I have a feeling I will be disappointed by whatever I pick now.
I think this is either my 3rd or 4th review out of the thousands I’ve read. Last chapter felt rushed and compacted, a few editing errors (let out a “t” in “it”, etc) throughout the book, and the epilogue was predictable, BUT the writer created an interesting world with a adventurous chain of events and characters. The grand story arch seems solid and enjoyable so far. I’m extremely EXTREMELY curious about the King. I’m not that good at writing reviews, but the author shows a lot of promise and I believe new authors deserve credit. Good luck and find an editor who will see the silly mistakes. I subscribed to your amazon page so I eagerly await the next installment!
Wow! This was a fantastic story- interesting characters, strong heroine, dominant Alpha hero, lies, plots, conspiracies , assassins, death and alien Terminators killers! I mean this was hands down a non-stop read for me. Other than when I passed out from exhaustion for about 2 hours for a nap . In this second installment which is a MUST read if you read book one, we get to meet Home World up close and personal. Peyton has been dragged against her will to Tahk's home planet. This leads to friction between the newly mated pair. But nothing compares to the friction that rises when Peyton realizes that she must share Tahk with his consorts. To top it all off it seems she has very few fans as she is now the alien. But that is just the surface of the problems disturbing Home World. There is great political tension between allies in The Order and betrayal within the Dahk kingdom. It seems a plot has been brewing from even before the time of the new Dahk king. Can Tahk save his home planet and Earth? Can he do this while keeping his Peyton safe? All questions may not be answered right away but we at least we get to read Peyton's and Tahk's HEA.
I rarely give five full stars. I liked it that much.
This is book two and you absolutely need to read book one. It is the conclusion of this couple’s story and their happy ever up till now because we’re probably going to get peeks of them in later books. Cross my fingers.
I loved how strong and yet compassionate Peyton was throughout both books. She also has flaws and owns them when it’s time to face it.
Tahk is strong and kind. Also fair minded and utterly devoted to Peyton. He’s patient while trying to understand human culture differences. He also has flaws, but the story would be boring if their wasn’t a struggle between the main characters.
I laughed a lot through both books. There are some heart wrenching moments as well. These books have all the feels that keep it interesting till the end.
World building is interesting and believable. Well written plot with lots of intrigue. Proofreading was well done, very few typos.
I will definitely be looking for more books in this series. Highly recommend.
And this is where my journey with this series ends.
Sadly, these books are just not for me. While I did see an improvement in the writing in this book (fewer errors), I continue to find Peyton and Vivian extremely immature and childish. Nor do I particularly care for the rest of the characters if I’m being honest.
I think the series has a lot of potential but I will not be continuing.
I enjoyed these first two books in the series and feel that there was a lot of character and relationship building, especially in this second book, as well as a well developed Home World. The world is well done enough that even some details of how a sun-less planet supports life, which seem unlikely, can be ignored and the book still enjoyed. I do, however, wish there was a little more about how the non-ruling class lived in this culture/society. The writing is engaging and has a good pace, the characters are believable, and the conflicts realistic.
My main problem with the story is the ending - it feels like it is missing something, like this couple’s story ends abruptly and slightly too soon. (This ending does set up a starting point for other characters’ stories in future books, but that is not what I mean about the ending missing something; I’m referring specifically to this couple’s ending.) There is a final step in the mating bond ritual that isn’t mentioned in the first book, but it is only mentioned in Tahk’s thoughts one single time! We don’t hear about it at all again the whole book, forgetting all about it, and then it’s happening suddenly - it feels very slapped together and added as a forced ending to the book. Plus, the timing is so abrupt and out of place that it feels random, jarring, and doesn’t make sense why it is happening then and there.
The epilogue is primarily just setting up details for the coming books, with minimal details about the couple’s future. There is a long, wasted section on the stupid chickens! I’d have rather that space have been used to tell me more about Peyton and Tahk than the author chose to include. It also sets up conflict for their future (them vs his society). I’m assuming that will be addressed in the background of future books in this series, but adding it at the very, very end of this book just added to the feeling of incompleteness of their story. There could have been an entire third book about them navigating the eluded-to conflicts together.
Also, I did miss the old guy in this book - he was such a hilarious part of the first book! He’s around, but barely mentioned as anything more than a drunk causing (minor, unimportant) problems on the ship. In the first book, I really liked that the author included his character with the group, not just the cliché damsels in distress. It made the book more believable and well rounded, vs others in this genre. And he brought so much humor in a way that, again, set the book apart from others in the genre. I’m just disappointed he was flattened down to such a two-dimensional character and barely included in this book.
Overall, I have enjoyed these two books and look forward to more from this author and series.
NB: I listened to the audiobook version. This is a copy of my review on Audible. Performance part of that review is deleted for GoodReads.
I am sad to say that I did not enjoy this book as much as the previous one. Don’t get me wrong though. It was still an amazing read with all the drama, romance, conflicts and twists. I just couldn’t get as deeply into it as I had wished and I am honestly not sure why.
I really loved the beginning though, with Payton being pissed at Tahk and the struggles that came from that. The added drama when she arrives at home world and finding out a pretty big secret Tahk’s been keeping from her was the icing on top of the cake. Just perfect, and while I feel like it was resolved a bit too quickly and easily I very much like them coming together again. The strongest aspect in this story is for sure the drama and the romance. Mixing the two together and I couldn’t help but getting dragged into the addictive story and beautiful relationship.
The previous book did a good job of introducing the unknown alien life, culture and species. Home World, for better or for worse took it even further, showing us ... well, the home world. I liked how in-depth it actually was with the look at the planet, the history and just the mechanics of its survivability. We also got a better complexity of the Dahk’s way of living, forming families, creatures of their world and politics. For the most part I liked what I learned, but there were some things that was just too weird for me, that made it a bit too ridiculous. The birth scene probably being the weirdest. Luckily, it was far and few between so it didn’t ruin the whole story for me, it just felt a bit unrealistic, is all.
I didn’t really have any major issue anywhere in the story and there was truly much in it I loved so it is such a shame that I couldn’t fall head over heels in love with it. Like I said, I’m not really sure why I couldn’t, it just felt like it wanted to be finished unnecessarily quickly. Yet it wasn’t rushed in any way either with such complexity. There were however things I would have liked the story to explore more and it wasn’t given any room for it. I know that there are a lot of books ahead in the series that will probably deal with that, but I guess that I’m just a bit disappointed that this was the conclusion for Peyton and Tahk’s story. With so many struggles and dangers ahead of them and with so many struggles behind them that wasn’t 100 percent done. Two books simply weren’t enough to cover it all and that’s what made it feel rushed to the conclusion even if it wasn’t.
I of course do not mind new head characters in the series and I absolutely adored the ending of Home World. I only wished that Peyton and Tahk could have gotten at least one more book as the main characters to really sweeten their HEA and conclude it all nicely. Hopefully we will still get to see a bit of them in the future installments, even if they won’t take center stage anymore.
