Looooved If The Shoe Fits by the marvelous Laura Greenwood!
This review is for If The Shoe Fits by Laura Greenwood.
I received an ARC of this splendid tale in exchange for an honest review, and I adored this lovely modern rendition of the classic Cinderella story.
The pace moved right along, the characters were fresh and full of life, and the story itself was sweet, tender, thoughtful, endearing, and one I very much loved. I would definitely classify this as a book I would reread more than once because it is such a feel-good story.
I enjoyed this so much I can't wait to take a look at the other stories, too. I tooooootally recommend this one!!
This review is specifically for If the Shoe Fits by Laura Greenwood. Sadie has never wanted the fairytale story. Yes, she is landed gentry. Sure, her father remarried and left her with a step-mother who doesn't want her and step-sister who is too controlled by her mother. But Sadie isn't abused and made to serve the household, only made to feel unwanted and alone. However, she wants to get her music degree and make her way in the world on her own merits. She has a talented best friend who loves and supports her. She doesn't need Prince Charming. But when Queen Amara's wedding is announced on television and Sadie spots a man behind the Queen and her future husband, she knows she must go to the wedding, find the man. Even though her step-mother has forbidden her to attend, she must. And like she expected, she did find the man from the television. Leo. he's everything she dreamed of, even more, and even though the evening has turned out to be better than imagined Sadie panics and runs out on him. Now she's the country's real-life Cinderella.
I loved this revisionist Cinderella story. Sadie is wonderful. Beautiful, intelligent, talented, hard-working, and ambitious. There's no self-pity or bitterness with her circumstances. I loved her relationship with her best friend Enrique. He was fabulous! Everyone needs a best friend just like this! He was also added welcome humor to the story. The ball, Sadie and Leo's first meeting, the aftermath were all simply sensational. Lovely, sexy, thrilling. Everything was so vividly described from the dress to the decor to the dance. Well done. And the private time...steamy! It was also nice to get a glimpse of the woman Rita will become and to spend a moment with Amara and her men.
I enjoyed every second of this story. My only complaint is that I felt a little short-changed. I wanted more time with Sadie and Leo. I would have liked to see a bit of the friendship I know will exist between Sadie and Amara. I want to see Sadie spend more time with Rita. I loved the story I got; I just felt like there was so much more story to be told.
SURPRISINGLY GOOD! Over 10 hours and many good authors. So far l have read If the shoe fits by Laura Greenwood and A Beauty for the beast by Esme Wilde. I have enjoyed it so much already so l need to leave a review because it will take me another day to finish the rest of this box set. The first story was a good fun story with sassy humour and friendship. This good hearted girl is out for adventure! I really enjoyed it. The second book seemed full sized and was entertaining and quite a busy plot with lots to hold your attention and inspire your emotions. A new author to follow l think. Recommended 💥💥💥💥💥
If the Shoe Fits - Laura Greenwood: This book hooks you and reels you in, the story is a retelling of the Cinderella tale and it is so good.
The characters are strong and feel real. I read this book in a few hours and loved every minute. This can be read as a standalone book but it does have lovely references to other books in Laura's library.
I would recommend this book and hope that anyone reading it enjoys it as much as I did.
Review for If The Shoe Fits Laura Greenwood has written my absolute favourite Cinderella inspired story with If The Shoe Fits. Sadie is a beautiful character, who supported by strong characters that make this book amazingly brilliant. Note: Queen Amara is a minor character in this story, so if you’re looking for more from her, you can check it out in Kneel For Me. Highly recommend both Sadie and Amara’s stories. If The Shoe Fits will be on my re-read list again and again.
I love Sadie and Leo. A new age retelling of Cinderella. The evil stepmother but Rita the stepsister is actually more friend than foe. The Queen most definitely has a harem going on and I hope to see her story 💕 Sadie and Leo will get their HEA. Another great read that I recommend.
