All of her life, Ruby has dreamed of living on a farm with her husband and children. Growing up in a saloon had all but crushed that dream until a humble farmer offers her his hand in marriage. All is not smooth sailing for Duke and Ruby as Duke's Ma plots ways to destroy their marriage and their happiness. Can their growing fondness for one another survive her attempts or will she succeed in ripping them apart forever? What will happen when she finds out about Ruby's sordid past? This story continues on from Duke and Ruby's wedding that takes place in Annabelle's Mission. It can be read as part of the series or as a stand alone novel. For those reading the series, you'll enjoy updates from some of your favorite Girls of Twin Reach Saloon characters including Abe & Isabelle, Clay & Annabelle and Dallas & Maybelle. This story includes spanking of adult women as well as a child as was appropriate for the time frame the story takes place in. Please do not read if this will offend or upset you. Elly Knight chooses to write her spanking romances without explicit sex scenes.
Ruby was one of the girls that Annabelle went rescue from that dreadful saloon. Duke was one of the deputy s who came after Annabelle and helped rescue the women being held prisoners. Along the way, Duke and Ruby became friends. Duke explained about the farm being so far from town. He wanted to court her but he wouldn't be able to see her very often. He asked her to marry him and go into the farm. He promised they would get to know each other before anything else happened. Things were going great until a witch walked in, Duke's ma. She made Rose's life hell, but never complained. Then Duke saw it for himself. Duke packed up his ma and took her to town. Then there was a twist to the story and you believe that is the end. Ha! Ha! There's a final twist for the rest of the story. This is a beautiful love story for yet another saloon girl. I dearly love this entire series and of its a spanking good time. It is definitely for adults only reading.
I had a love/hate relationship with this one. I loved Duke and Ruby together. His patient kindness and loving discipline are the perfect match for Ruby's naivete and fear of not being good enough. I also loved catching up with all of the girls. This far into the series its like seeing old friends.
I hated Dukes mother. It felt like at first Duke downplayed her behavior too much and he took forever to realize just how awful she was being to Ruby. I would have loved to have seen Ruby put her in her place a time or two. She was TOO mean and hateful. She was a downright horrible person and basically she says I'm sorry and all is forgiven? No way.
I loved this book! Saloon girls are rescued and given a second chance at a respectable life. There is plenty of love and loving discipline which makes for outstanding entertainment! I can’t wait to read more of this series! ❤️
