Best thing about this book was the Blurb. Lost count of the number of characters; around 20 of them. 🥴 None had any depth or meat on them; shallow. I didn’t like the author’s style of writing, which smacked of arrogance not confidence. It’s possibly the strangest book I’ve ever read, and am amazed I finished it. No romance whatsoever, and couldn’t explain what it’s about; it’s all over the place.
Here’s a quote:

“You just keep your little billfold flattened beneath that massive gravity of yours. Brooklyn need not suffer a tectonic shift,”

Yeah, me neither. 🤔 🤨 🥴

And another one:

“She drew her robe up around her waist and sat. As she waited in her slumbering eternity for relief, she reached into the pocket of the robe and slipped out her cell phone. Her eyes barely registered the time that read something past ten o’clock before she welcomed the blissful stream from below. “Holy shit,” she murmured. “When did I pass out?” She rested the phone on her bare legs as she reached for a wad of toilet paper. The friction against flesh echoed in the floor to ceiling tiled tomb.”

Sheer poetry, innit? 😂🤣🥴🙄

If you want more of this dark deliciousness- read the book. It was FREE, and there’s two more in the series. I wouldn’t recommend it, though others may. Vive la différence.

P.S. Fuck and its derivations thereof - appear 91 times. Bit too much methinks. 🥴

this is a weird, oddly styled book. Heather thought Chase was the one. But inexplicably he changed and they broke up. He was apparently a talented artist who becomes av violent mob enforcer. Heather sees a therapist, bums prescription meds off friends, drinks too much and acts promiscuously. In the meantime, there is a mysterious woman named Grace who is a mistress of the dark arts and a creepy guy named Doug who is her dishwasher/henchman. Violence soon touches the lives of Rick who is Chase's brother (maybe) and Heather who is abducted by Doug and Chase who is beaten up. This synopsis is far more coherent than the book.

It is at times overwritten and highly disjointed. There are too many characters and their connections are not clear. There are some genuinely creepy moments but overall it lacks cohesion and never gels.

Not

Poor, poor editing doesn't help this story at all. Perhaps a good plot but it gets so lost. It is a mercifully quick read or I would never have finished.
