Nobody ever says they want to be a junkie when they grow up, least of all June Taylor. Then the world crashes in, bringing all of its pain with it. The deepest scars in life rest just beneath the surface, gnawing from the inside, trying to get out, and guiding her down the narrow winding road of addiction, needles, and a life that strips her of all self-worth, ambition, identity, and ultimately her soul. Then one day something moves through her, fluttering her soul like the soft wing of a butterfly tickling a nose. She gives into the experience and is swept up off of her feet by one miracle after another – softly landing in a brand-new life. The true story that inspired the major motion picture JUNKIE.
True herrowing account of a life in the grips of addiction. Beautifully written and captivating. I'm not sure if I was breathing much but I was over the moon when recovery happened and she got her life back. Humbling to hear such honesty from an author. Proud of her.
