Will Fain, U.S. Marshal #8

Will Fain, U.S. Marshal, Book 8

Rate this book
Will Fain meets the new judge for the Western District of Texas and is put on the chase for a killer for hire that is bumping off witnesses and stifling justice. Isum Wood, chief deputy, puts his life on the line, hoping the assassin will attack him, but that Will and the other deputies can kill the assassin before he can turn his deadly Sharps rifle on Isum. Will's deputies seek out killers all over Texas and New Mexico, going after the worst of the worst and putting their lives on the line. In contrast to how tough and ruthless they must be in their jobs, each marshal has a family that they love and cherish and a loving side to them that nobody but their families ever sees. It's another classic western from R. O. Lane with just a touch of romance and love.

Only eight ? :-)

Only eight? :-) I have read with pleasure all of the eight volumes now available and the Fain family is now part of my heart. There is love and affection described at different times and appropriate places in each book. None of the love and affection is anything other than sweet. Who needs the inch by inch description of what goes on in somebody’s bed? It would add nothing to the stories this author has told and I did not miss it at all. I particularly enjoyed the fact that you did not make all the women perfect and pure. The women of that era and in the wild west survived sometimes no matter what or how and deserve our admiration for all they went through. I don’t think most of the women today would be able to survive some of the lives that the western women did survive. Thank you Mr. Lane ine for sharing your mind with us.

I never fire of Will Fain and his Deputy Marshals, as everything the do becomes so realistic.enjoyed over 48 years of law enforcement and corrections, so I can emphasize with their trials and tribulations. These stories are so refreshing, and the planning involved is more than believable. Too, the precised delivery of each decision is so adept to each and every successful delivery of each and every endeavour. Mr. Lane is an apparent perfectionist, as each episode is perfection personified! If you live action, then follow U. S. Marshal Will Fain and his entourage!

Definitely another five star masterpiece by an exceptionally talented author of old American folklore adventures. Never a dull moment throughout the entire book, and a never ending series of exciting gunplay. Will, and his compatriots, are always ready to fight all wrongs, regardless of the suspects status within their area. A little suspense blended in with some of the ongoing adventures, but when right is on their side, the good guys overcome all odds.
Mr. Lane is the master, when it comes to character selections, and his descriptive episodes excels in each and every exciting series of gunfights. Too, his ongoing adventurous storylines successfully keeps the reader's undivided attention from beginning to end. It is definitely prevalent that the appropriate research is completely before the author begins his first paragraph!
Definitely recommend this compassionate, and very impressive rendition of our real old American folklore adventures, as I was hooked from beginning to end. If you love fast moving excitement of western gunfights, adept law enforcement, heartwarming family romance and entertaining episodes of western frontier life, then this book was released for your enjoyment! Grab a copy, get into your easy chair, ask not to be disturbed for a few hours, and let the fun begin! Happy trails!

THE ASSIGNMENTS

Will Fain, U. S. Marshal and his Chief Deputy Marshal Isum Wood, whose a retire Pony Solder, Dell, Abram who are Deputy Marshals are a force to reckon with; loyal, fearless men who lay their lives down to hunt down the worse of worse men wanted by the law. They are are all family men, Will owns a money making horse breeding ranch.
The other three U. S. Marshal are ranchers also doing well. The tide turns every now and then when one or all of them become prey, which
happened to Isum, they were on assignments to capture a paid assassin, who for the right money would murder anyone including women. Plot was his name, a Bible quoting ex-Confederate sniper who was hired to murder witnesses of upcoming trials. Isum hit him upside his head for his bias mouth, who also thought he was the cat's meow. This beating was hiding an alternative motive which was to get Plot to come after Isum, only because they didn't have enough evidence to charge him with all these assassinations. The beating caused Plot eye damage seeing double..I guess you could consider this an even steven.
Everyone whose read the other books in this series, will all agree that they are the "bomb" and once you start and finish, you'll be hoovering around for the next book.
Everyone keep your coffee hot and ALWAYS check your front and back trails....yah goo....

I don’t want it to end…

When I began reading this series, I remember thinking it would be difficult keeping all 8 books as exciting as the first books without it becoming ridiculous or repetitive. I have to admit that I was just as spellbound at the end of this book as I was at the beginning of the first! R.O. Lane is a great storyteller. I honestly cannot think of any parts I wanted to skim over like I do in most books. In fact, I found myself going back and reading parts over again to make sure I didn’t miss anything. I am so happy that none of Will’s deputies or their families got killed. I always love a happy ending! The diversity of his characters made the story even better. Overall, this is one of my favorite series ever. I can’t wait to read more of his books since this was my first.

Figured him out.

I did. I figured R .O. Out. He writes well, I will certainly give him that. But what he does is write a few good stories and link them together by having the main character hire more deputies and link them to gather. A good writer could develop 5 or more books with those plots and R.O. Is a good writer but a lazy one. We all know that a short story is easier to write because you don’t have to develop much background for the characters. So he churns them out for us to imagine all the rest. I have read all 8 of his books but I am done I will not waste my time or his talent by reading number 9.

Will Fain, U.S. MARSHAL,Book 8years

I always enjoy Will Fain books, they are just the best of the best in a good old fashioned western. He is a U.S. Marshal who has built a great back up team that knows how to go out and get the job done when they are sent somewhere to get the bad guys. Watching the way that they strategize each situation makes you really appreciate their genious in planning how to go into such dangerous situation, train robberies , arresting murderers, gunslingers who think they are above the law, this is their every day events in their lives. BRAVO 👏👏 BRAVO 👏👏

great reading you series on WillFaine

Very good a few flaws almost too fe to mention however you cannot tie wrists to a saddle horn with rawhide raw hide is a very hard leather and the only possible way to use it is when it is wet, by doing that when I’t dries it shrinks cutting off circulation also without a list of characters old farmers like me tend to forget who is who and if I write them down half of them are shot two pages later. Taking a lot longer to read. But keep writing,

Will Fain had best look out. I think Isum Woods is after his job. Isum is getting bigger and better play in the stories while Will spends more time shopping for pets for the kids a satisfying his wife in the bedroom. A full time job in itself. If there is a 9th book it will probably be called Will Fain and Isum Woods U.S. marshals.
Don't get me wrong book 6 was interesting. It was great reading how Isum took care of his family and saved the day. Now it's time to see the other Marshall's have their day in the spotlight. IMHO. Still a good series. Hope it continues.

An ROL. Western/The Marshals/Jobs/Families

ROL. has. penned the 8th Will Fain, US.. Marshal. This novel begins with family. The Texas Rangers chase, arrest and jail bad men in the Texas and New Mexico Territory. Their jobs are dangerous. Therefore, the Marshals are glad to return to family to live and enjoy the trials of parenting. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS

Escape Therapy

I have read maybe 180 books this June and July. I will say that after losing my wife 3 years ago my solitude has been deafening and lonely. These books about Will Fain have been very engrossing. For the past week of reading these 8 books I have not felt so much satisfaction and peace in the last 20 years. Thanks. I hope your other books are as comforting. These stories are more restful than sleep. May God allow you many more years of production.

Love and justice

This story/tale is so enjoyable because it fulfills ALL of the longings and desires that roll through anyone that has responsibilities, principles and cares for their loved ones. This is a romantic tale of solid western heroes. They do what's right in the eyes of God and the law, and yet they're merciful, compassionate and humble. My kind of people; my kind of heroes.

5 STARS, WESTERN ROMANCE DRAMA

5 STARS for Book 8 in this series which is R.O. Land's top series or at least one of them. The characters in this storyline are gritty & determined but have empathy & compassion that a good man needs. They don't just go after the law breakers to do their job in a lot of cases they will seek justice especially if it's a murderer & rapist.

You can't go wrong reading this book or this series. I wish it was longer.

Will Fain Book 8

I have enjoyed all the Will Fain books. I like how each of the deputies gets a chance to shine. In this book Abrams the half Cherokee gets justice for his 16 year old cousin who was kidnapped and murdered by the McAdoo gang. And the team takes down an assassin who murdered witnesses to crime. An exciting read as always.

Will Fain Series

I just finished reading this entire series, and I rated each one with 5 stars. If you like lots of action and suspense with a little romance thrown in, you can not beat the western adventures of Will Fain and his deputies. I certainly hope that Book 8 is not the end of the series!!!

Great series

Each and every book in the Will Fain series has been a sheer pleasure to read. The Marshals and their wives and kids are all people you would like to get to know. Are there going to be more books in this series? The author has not been clear on this subject, but I certainly hope that he does.

Second time around

Just finished reading all the Will Fain books for the second or maybe third time. Good stories and a fun read. I am disappointed that Mr Lane never wrote book nine and wrapped up the series. I enjoy the epilogues at the end of his books kind of gives close to the stories. Its been a few years and many books so I guess he gave up on the Marshall and his crew.

Teamwork

This book highlights the camaraderie that has developed between a black man, a fellow who is part Cherokee and three white guys as they all work together to bring law and justice to the western frontier. Regardless of which one may be facing a problem they all work together to get it solved, as rapists, murderers and assassins find out the hard way.

Will Fain US Marshall Book 8

Wow, this has been a great series to read. Marshall Fain took on a daunting task at the direction of the Post Civil War President and subsequent one to clean up West Texas. He did that and when the updated jurisdictions came through, the US Marshals service was born and reenforced with wider powers.

Eight books! These books are one long story of a valiant U.S. Marshall and the Deputies who work under him. This is how men should be. Those actions back in the frontier days helped shape the future of the United States of America today. I'm thankful for men like R.O. Lane, who kindle the spirit in masterful stories. R.O. Lane, I deputize you as...

I just finished the eighth book in the series of eight and the sad part is there aren’t any more. I would love it if the series went on and Will and Virginia went on to be grandparents and so on and so on.
