CLAMP originally began in 1989 as a twelve-member dōjinshi circle, but by 1990, the circle had diminished from twelve to seven. Of the remaining seven, Tamayo Akiyama, Sei Nanao, and Leeza Sei left the group during the production of the RG Veda manga. Other former members of CLAMP also included Soushi Hishika, O-Kyon, Kazue Nakamori, Yuzuru Inoue and Shinya Ōmi. Currently, there are four members in the group.
In 2004, CLAMP's 15th anniversary as a mangaka group, the members changed their names from Nanase Ohkawa, Mokona Apapa, Mick Nekoi, and Satsuki Igarashi to Ageha Ohkawa, Mokona, Tsubaki Nekoi and Satsuki Igarashi (her name is pronounced the same, but written with different characters) respectively. The August 2004 issue of Newtype USA, a magazine specializing in events of the anime and manga subcultures, reported that the members of CLAMP simply wanted to try out new names. In a later interview with Ohkawa, it was revealed that initially Mokona wanted to drop her surname because it sounded too immature for her liking, while Nekoi disliked people commenting that her name was the same as Mick Jagger's. Ohkawa and Igarashi, wanting to go with the flow of Nekoi's and Mokona's name changes, changed their names as well.
In 2006, they made their first USA public debut at Anime Expo in Anaheim, California. They were well received at the convention, with 6,000 fans in attendance at their panel.

Still very cute, still no idea why CLAMP revived this series. Sure, it's still charming and beautifully drawn and I will buy every single volume of this but I'm still always thinking of all the unfinished stuff CLAMP could continue instead when I see them on my shelf.
I'm not sure what I'm supposed to think about the new student, because at this point it seems very obvious that she's the person who always pops up in Sakura's dreams recently... but CLAMP also like to surprise people, so maybe not? (On the other hand, this IS still CCS and it was always pretty straight forward)
Mostly I just want to know what Eriol has been up to, being even more secretive than usual, and more of Toya, Yukito and Yue. Especially Yue.
Also someone please give Tomoyo a girlfriend.

More Sakura and friends. I love the art in this, but I feel that maybe the pacing for the anime is better?
Speaking of which, it looks like one of the lines is translated wrong. During the walking tree scene, Sakura remarks she was wondering why Tomoyo had the costume and camera in her bag, which doesn't make sense since it's sort of obvious. The anime shows that the line should be "I was wondering why you brought your bag with you."
I was wondering why Sweetness and Lightning felt like the translation was better, and it looks like there's a secondary translator looking over the work. Maybe that's what this translation needs? Even an expert translator can benefit from having more QC and a second pair of eyes looking at their work.

Can't wait for the anime

Sakura you have given me a misrepresentation of school life for well in 20yrs at this point and I love you for it.
Look CCS is one of the few CLAMP titles that was too pure for my world. I was reading the original series at the same as Parasyte, Video Girl Ai and Fushigi Yugi. Even the questionable romances (there's at least THREE teacher-student romances hinted at during various times) are so sweet that I can't look askance.
Any one who read Tsubasa as well might be saying "BUT LOOK WHAT HAPPENED". Tsubasa hurts ok? I love it, I really do. It confused me and frustrated me and made me wonder WHY some plot things happened, but I love it. That said, Gods help me if this truly is the bridge between the two. That means...well... :sobs: Sakura remains the only series I never want a bittersweet ending for. It's so pure. So. Freaking. Pure.
So yeah I'm freaking loving this new series. Sakura and Li are so protective and innocent, Tomoyo's enthusiasm, Toya's teasing and Yukito's positivity are liking returning to some well loved friends.
The new "enemy" is much in line with Eriol - mysterious, challenging Sakura's use of the cards and ultimately will make her more powerful. The new cards are much less specific - gale, action, siege - making Sakura change her tactics. There's a large difference in strategy if your opponent is "reflect" instead of "mirror" for instance.
Look CCS is one of the few CLAMP titles that was too pure for my world. I was reading the original series at the same as Parasyte, Video Girl Ai and Fushigi Yugi. Even the questionable romances (there's at least THREE teacher-student romances hinted at during various times) are so sweet that I can't look askance.
Any one who read Tsubasa as well might be saying "BUT LOOK WHAT HAPPENED". Tsubasa hurts ok? I love it, I really do. It confused me and frustrated me and made me wonder WHY some plot things happened, but I love it. That said, Gods help me if this truly is the bridge between the two. That means...well... :sobs: Sakura remains the only series I never want a bittersweet ending for. It's so pure. So. Freaking. Pure.
So yeah I'm freaking loving this new series. Sakura and Li are so protective and innocent, Tomoyo's enthusiasm, Toya's teasing and Yukito's positivity are liking returning to some well loved friends.
The new "enemy" is much in line with Eriol - mysterious, challenging Sakura's use of the cards and ultimately will make her more powerful. The new cards are much less specific - gale, action, siege - making Sakura change her tactics. There's a large difference in strategy if your opponent is "reflect" instead of "mirror" for instance.

Syaoran lo AMO pero esta siendo un novio de mierda asique a partir de ahora Sakura es bollera y se va a liar con Akiho 🤩🤩 Toya y Yue mis maric0nes favoritos ojalá se besen… Yamazaki un crack q risa es un personaje q me recuerda un poco a Noah🤭♥️ y como no le den pronto protagonismo a Yue y Kerberos cometeré una locura…

I'm still really enjoying being back in this world again with Sakura and her friends. Things are getting even more interesting with Eriol, Syaoran and even Touya swing to be hiding a few secrets from Sakura. I cannot wait to read more.

I was wrong about what happened to the Sakura cards in the first volume. I reread that portion of the story, and it wasn't entirely clear (so to speak) that the Sakura cards were now blank. She doesn't even mention missing the spirits in the Sakura cards until this book. Either way, the clear cards just kind of appeared, it seems. Their spirits' designs have an icy and/or mechanical feeling, and the frontispiece of Clear Card's chapters also often have a "crystal shard" motif.
Sakura has a kind of fugue state or dream where she meets a hooded figure whose height is the same as Sakura's. A handful of pages later, a new transfer student comes to Sakura's school. Akiho has lately lived in Hong Kong (Syaoran came from there, too), is about Sakura's height, and her family name sounds very similar to Sakura's. Sakura makes nothing of this...
In the next book, we find that Akiho . It's glaringly obvious that she will be an important part of the story, even if I don't know exactly what that might amount to.

Sakura Card Captor Clear Card, tomo 2 de la nueva serie de CLAMP. Continúa con nuestra protagonista Sakura Kinomoto, que tras descubrir que su llave no funciona y las cartas de Sakura se han vuelto transparentes, ahora tiene un nuevo objetivo con los nuevos riesgos que corre la gente a su alrededor. Hay nuevos personajes muy bien construidos y dibujados, y darán mucho de qué hablar. Además reaparecerán antiguos personajes que traerán mucha nostalgia al lector. Sin duda está siendo una experiencia increíble leer este nuevo manga, ya que es inevitable no volver a tu infancia.

¿Puede ser más guapo Syaoran en el manga? Yo no creo que me canse nunca de leer a Sakura, su familia, sus amigos y sus historias con Kero y Yue. Me sigo riendo con cada ocurrencia y me he dado cuenta de que la relación entre Li y Sakura es mucho más intensa en el manga, como que son más cercanos que en la serie. Y a mi me encanta una buena historia de amor <3

No me está emocionando demasiado el regreso de Sakura porque me duele ver a las Clamp estancadas en lo mismo. Encima los tomos tienen menos páginas que el formato habitual. Sigo por la nostalgia.

Disclaimer: I've blitzed all 4 (current) volumes of this today, so this review covers all four books since my overriding feelings are all pretty similar.
Picking up after the end of Cardcaptor Sakura, Sakura is now headed off to Middle School, with her friends and her boyfriend Syaoran Li. But when a mysterious dream shows Sakura that her Sakura Cards have become blank, she's shocked to find that they are in reality too! A new key appears, and new cards along with it, as a new mystery begins to unfold.
This is pretty easy reading. It's fairly light on peril or high stakes, even when it's trying to have them, but it's still fun reading for the most part. The problem I have overall is that there doesn't seem to be much urgency in the plot; the new cards don't seem to want to do anything other than inconvenience Sakura and her friends, even the more dangerous ones like Gale, and the cards themselves seem to either be strange, like Siege, or just copies of previous cards like Flight and Aqua.
There isn't much agency for Sakura either; she kind of just wanders into the plot rather than actively pursuing any goal, so it makes the card capturing seem inconsequential compared to her adventures with her friends. Eriol and Syaoran keeping secrets again doesn't help matters, and it does amuse me that Yue and Yukito can just swap whenever they want now, which is pretty funny. Saying that the humour in this is pretty good too, with some fun asides, although it can rely a bit too much on Kero being hungry.
The art's gorgeous though; there's a lot of abstract shots when Sakura's fighting the cards which are very pretty.
The series feels like coming home to an old friend so far, but it could definitely do with a kick in the pants in terms of story progression.

Capítulo 5:
Sakura escoge el club de porristas, Tomoyo el de coro, Syaoran aún no se sabe.
Llueve mucho en la escuela a pesar de que no había pronóstico de lluvia. De regreso a casa Sakura junto a Tomoyo se dan cuenta de que es una carta. Sakura la atrapa con Siege (genia) y resulta ser “Aqua”. El diseño es un ave/dragon de agua con corona (los nuevos diseños de estas cartas me parecen más pro).
Luego Sakura en la noche cuenta este suceso a Syaoran por teléfono. Al terminar la llamada se comenta que aún Eriol no contesta sus mensajes. Por el lado de Syaoran vemos que está haciendo magia con su brújula y en compañía del osito Syaoran que tenia Sakura y dice que “tiene que apurarse”:
En paralelo vemos a Yukito recibiendo un mensaje de Sakura comentándole que apareció otra carta. Touya se da cuenta de que Sakura está en problemas otra vez por la cara de Yukito, y aquí le comenta que tiene otra vez poderes mágicos y que le contará de que se trata cuando llegue el momento.
Luego el cap termina con que Sakura se pregunta por sus cartas, espera que estén bien y se anima a si misma diciendo que si estas nuevas cartas están apareciendo, debe ser por algo bueno.
Highlights:
• ¿Que conjuro está haciendo Syaoran con esas bolitas, su brújula y el osito? ¿Por qué tiene que darse prisa? Sakura está en problemas y él sabe de esto? ¿Por qué no lo dice?
• Sakura habla abiertamente con Yukito sobre las cartas y sus poderes. Wow.
• ¿Qué es ese nuevo poder de Touya? ¿Cómo sabe que llegará “un momento” para usar esa magia? ¿Puede predecir el futuro?
Capítulo 6:
Me encanta la portada de este cap. Eriol todo Mago Clow:
En este capítulo Sakura captura a “Reflect”.
Nos enteramos de que Syaoran no irá a ningún club porque “tiene muchos trámites que hacer” producto de que está recién llegando a Japón. Luego vemos a Sakura practicar porrismo con su club y al terminar se da cuenta de una anomalía, se trataba de la carta. La captura usando a Aqua y termina mojándose. Llega el lindo de Syaoran y le da su chaqueta al mismo tiempo que le dice que se cambie rápido para que no se resfríe.
Sakura vuelve a casa, va a ducharse cuando entra en trance y está parada enfrente del mago sospechoso de la túnica.
Capítulo 7:
Sakura se da cuenta de que ese mago es de su mismo tamaño y despierta.
A la mañana siguiente Touya le hace el desayuno y empieza a molestarla para subirle el ánimo. En plena broma le pregunta “todavía no?”, y no se sabe a qué se refiere. No hay contexto de su pregunta.
Luego en la escuela llega una nueva compañera llamada Akiho Shinomoto, una niña (del mismo tamaño que Sakura) que ha vivido en muchos países: China, Francia, Inglaterra… y ahora está en Japón.
Sakura ayuda a Akiho a integrarse a la escuela con la esperanza de que puedan hacerse buenas amigas. También le dice que sus apellidos son similares Kinomoto y Shinomoto.
Syaoran en el descanso llama a Eriol y le comenta de esta nueva estudiante, le dice que no notó ningún poder mágico en ella. Eriol consulta al tarot y le dice que tampoco nota magia y que puede ver que Sakura y Akiho se llevarán muy bien. Syaoran sigue muy preocupado, Eriol le dice que debe ser difícil para él pero que aún no puede… ¿? Y Syaoran le dice que “lo sabe” y que fue a Japón para estar cuando llegue “ese momento”. Ambos quedaron en comunicarse cualquier novedad y ahí termina la llamada.
Luego en clases de Ciencias Naturales, Sakura de avergüenza porque vio un dibujo de Syaoran y ella que le hizo Naoko en su libro y Tomoyo le dice que hasta en dibujos se quieren 😅. En eso Sakura siente un ruido extraño afuera y empieza a notar que los árboles del colegio están corriendo.
Capítulo 8:
Sakura captura la carta “Action” con ayuda de Siege y Aqua. Luego le cuenta todo lo sucedido a Yue y a Kero. Yue le dice que no percibe magia en las cartas, que posiblemente la clave esté en la llave de los sueños.
Luego Yue vuelve a su forma humana, Yukito va a preparar más té y Sakura recibe una llamada de Syaoran y le cuenta la opinión de Yukito, también le dice que a pesar de que no entiende que está sucediendo, va a hacer lo que pueda empezando por lo que tiene ante sus ojos. En eso Syaoran le dice que es admirable y ella se sonroja y le dice que él es admirable por vivir solo y nos regalan una escena bonita entre ellos.
Termina la llamada y vemos a Syaoran con cara de preocupación, en su casa con su brújula y unas bolitas mágicas sobre esta.
Capítulo Extra 1:
Sucede antes del inicio del arco de Clear Card y vemos a Kero y Spi jugando un videojuego, Kero se enoja porque Spi le lanzó un hechizo y dice que fue por error, luego llega Sakura a casa y le dice a Kero que tenga cuidado de pasar tanto tiempo jugando para que no dañe su vista y le comenta que Syaoran aún no contesta su mensaje.
Kero se preocupa porque ve a Sakura triste, le dice a Spi que espera que Syaoran vaya en las próximas vacaciones de visita, termina la llamada / juego con Spi y vemos una escena de Spi diciendo que pronto Syaoran estará en Japón pero no será una simple visita.

Still super cute :) I love that we get to see more Kero and Soupy in this one. It's also pretty cool that Toya knows about what's going on, and that Yukito knows about Yue. I am loving this series so far.
The only bad is it is kinda plotless. Yes, she is catching the cards and there are the mysteries, but none of her cardcapting seams to be that hard, and none of the mysteries have urgency about them.
None the less, this is another candy series- Sweet and really fun to read. It's along the lines of another favorite of mine- Aria. It's just a cute, quick fluff read that has some pretty deep parts at times.

Nel secondo volume di *Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card-hen*, le CLAMP continuano a intrecciare magia e quotidianità con la loro eleganza inconfondibile. Sakura affronta nuovi misteri legati alle carte trasparenti, tra sogni enigmatici e poteri in evoluzione, mentre i legami con gli amici si fanno sempre più profondi. Sakura now has the Gale and the Siege card after her trials in the first volume of the series. If only her cards were not clear and not useful then it might be easier for her. Then again what good would a trial be if you had an easy mode. :)
In this volume Sakura has to deal with an abnormal storm, something invisible that is capable of bouncing magic back at Sakura, and a suddenly restless group of trees deciding parades are cool. For now only Sakura can discover the truth and seal these new cards before trouble brews.
Also we meet a new transfer student by the name of Akiho Shinomoto who is similar to Sakura and might be connected to the strange dreams Sakura has been having even though she is not showing any magical power yet. Syaoran and Eriol are being vigilant to make sure Sakura is not going to be over her head but they can't tell her the truth about the current events quite yet so she and we wil have to wait to find out what will happen next. )
My favorite part of the book is when Sakura is talking on the phone and asking Syaoran if it okay if she makes lunch for him and if it was okay to call him even if nothing unusual happens. She is so cute and he really must like her. :)

Syaoran and Eriol are being vigilant to make sure Sakura is not going to be over her head but they can't tell her the truth about the current events quite yet so she and we wil have to wait to find out what will happen next. )
My favorite part of the book is when Sakura is talking on the phone and asking Syaoran if it okay if she makes lunch for him and if it was okay to call him even if nothing unusual happens. She is so cute and he really must like her. :)

While I was wholeheartedly excited to see where they were going, volume 2 in the Clear Card series left me kind of disappointed.
Without the character interactions that the first series was building during this point (since all the characters are well established in this series), this volume had nothing to lean back on. Sure, Sakura caught some Clear Cards. And there were some cute interactions with the characters but overall, everyone seemed to meander around. And when they weren't meandering, they were basically scheming something behind Sakura's back. Why the story is focusing on how everyone is purposefully keeping Sakura in the dark, I will never know.
The Clear Cards are really vague compared to the Clow/Sakura Cards (Siege? Action?) or just simply renames of the originals (Aqua? Reflect?). I'm not sure if this was intentional so maybe we'll know in the future. I was hoping for newer and more unique magic. Instead i'm left just confused as to why exactly Sakura needed to get new cards.
I'm still hoping the story will start to pick up and either focus on explanations or the Syaoran/Sakura relationship soon. Both things, I feel, have been greatly ignored in this series thus far.

E anche in questo volume, altre tre carte fanno la loro comparsa. Il problema delle carte di Sakura rimane invariato, sono sempre trasparenti, invece continuano a manifestarsi questi nuovi esseri che vengono catturati dal nuovo scettro di Sakura.
Tutti i misteri vengono portati avanti e non ci sono ancora delle risposte: Eriol non contatta ancora Sakura e Syaoran non rivela le sue intenzioni. Le nuove carte sono: AQUA, ACTION e REFLECT.
Fa la sua comparsa un nuovo personaggio: Akiho Shinomoto, una nuova compagna di classe di Sakura, oltre al nome, anche caratterialmente sono simili, stringendo subito amicizia. Il personaggio mascherato compare ancora nei sogni di Sakura e cerca di sottrarle la nuova chiave del sigillo, per finire anche il fratello è a conoscenza di qualcosa riguardo la storia delle carte, ma ancora non rivela niente. Sono disposto a dare ancora fiducia alla storia sperando di ottenere delle risposte andando avanti con la trama; 16 volumi sono tanti e spero che le risposte arrivino molto prima della conclusione.
