Everyone on the ship is dead! The long journey to the Tau Ceti System that he funded has finally ended - mission complete! Yet his is the only cryogenic chamber that actually opened. Cuttar awoke twelve light years away from Earth only to discover that something went seriously wrong. Every cryogenic revival is failing one-by-one. He manages to intercept two who are still alive and then ultimately, he only saves one – a terraformer. Terraformers are a thing of the past. They are the most educated and adaptable people in the universe, yet they know nothing about flying interstellar ships. Something needs to happen soon, or the two of them are quite literally going to die. The technology and scenarios are realistic enough for this sci fi fan and if you like a good storyteller, Mr. McElhaney knows how to do it." ~Top 50 Amazon Reviewer, Hall of Fame Reviewer, and Vine Voice Michael Gallagher Given 5.0 out of 5 stars over 100 times on Amazon from various readers of the Mystic Saga!
Scott's first novel, Mommy's Choice, was originally published in paperback under the pseudonym Scott Curtis. In under a year on the bookshelves, that novel won the National Christian Choice Book Award for romantic suspense. When Scott moved to a different publisher and started making his novels available to Kindle readers, he returned to his real name and reduced the prices to the absolute minimum allowed by Amazon. Scott McElhaney currently resides in Ohio with his wife and two sons. He's a Desert Shield veteran of the US Navy, having served on the USS South Carolina CGN-37. Although his books didn't become available to Kindle readers until December 2011, over 250,000 digital copies have been purchased to date and he still maintains a position in the top 100 worldwide in the "Sci-fi Space Opera" category.
Pretty interesting concept and started out pretty strong. However it started to focus too much on the romantic relationship between the two main characters which would have been fine but it wasn't really believable. I did like the story but I do with it could have been a bit longer, the ending felt a bit rushed.
Grammar and editing were fine. Characters were too bipolar in their actions and thoughts. For a short story, there was too much focus on the relationship and not on the plot. Science/intrigue part of the story started okay but rapidly devolved into purely emotional responses.
I think this was for a younger audience but I still enjoyed it.
Sydney was a little tough to take sometimes but she was definitely worth the trouble. Everyone has rough edges and her explanation was interesting enough to keep me coming back. It would have been too easy to accept everything and not fight for more.
Sydney is a pretty rough and short tempered woman who has a tough time adapting to a ship full of dead bodies. Her and Cuttar finally learn to work together in order to land the ship and get something going in efforts to terraform the planet. Very interesting and enjoyable
I gave this four instead of five stars because I thought it should/could have been longer. Great stories and very relatable characters, but at times the story felt like it moved too fast. I do highly recommend it however, just wish it was longer
Very poorly written. I would assume a 12yo wrote the characters based on how random every interaction is. They are happy then furious mid sentences and act childish.
A Far-reaching Vision of Human Settlements Among the Stars. Well Written, Very Plausible, without the need of Conspiracy or Evil Characters. An Enjoyable and Satisfying Read.
