I love the uniqueness and creativity of Ms. Schultz's stories! Even with the incredible settings and premises, I always find her characters well-developed and relatable. Ivy and Dayton are both really sweet and their personalities so realistic. Though this is a quick read, its message will stick with me; not least because I found it so entertaining! I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Ivy's family... their traditions and dynamics. Being a total animal lover, I was enthused by the inclusion of Ivy's dog as part of her family, too :) Then there was the humanoid - what a great concept Ms. Schultz developed! I was entirely taken in by the idea as she described it (and don't actually think it would be impossible for something like that to be created at some point not too far off). All in all, a sweet, fun entertaining read!

After being dumped by her long-term boyfriend (who had gotten his secretary pregnant), Ivy decides she’s been single long enough, dislikes going to her family parties without company, and decides to buy an android companion. She meets with the programmer to design her perfect companion, and they form a friendship. After her gift for her father gets stolen while throwing a pre-Christmas party at her place, she enlists the help of the programmer to help her with the mystery of the missing gift, inviting him along to several family events, and even tagging along with him to Comic Con to get a replacement gift. She can’t help but wish her planned android companion was like the programmer himself.

This is a cute, clean, sweet little romance. Ladies who are fans of Cozy Romance with an innocent Mystery should adore this story. Me, I’m more of a fan of fantasy and science fiction, so I was looking for the more imaginative side of things, which there actually wasn’t much of (Not to mention that it felt a bit preachy about valuing human-contact over machines, treating the machines as being disposable and not really caring about them beyond just superficially). This story was predominantly Cozy Mystery as she spends time with Dayton, the programmer, trying to root out which of her family members was the culprit. From the cover which has a girl and a robot on it, I expected the robot to be in most of the book. He actually didn’t look anything like the robot on the cover, since he was a human-looking android, and the android himself only made an appearance in the last three chapters of the book. (By that time, I had started to think it might not make an appearance at all). I didn’t really warm to Ivy since she’s really more of a power career woman, driven, obsessive (like about the mystery and winning her little contest), into throwing parties, and off-handedly mentioning how successful and rich she is all the time. (Though I did love that Dayton was into Comic Con). The mystery was cute, though I could see the resolution on it almost from the beginning (probably because I had just watched an episode of Friends with the same resolution on their missing item). It did seem a bit out of the realm of believability that Ivy would give up on all guys and judge them all to be jerks in the end just because of one bad relationship.

A cute holiday romance/cozy mystery. There was some odd phrasing at the beginning (like stating she is in her upper 30s instead of the more typical late 30s), but they are easy to overlook in this quick read. While there isn't really any novelty to the 'girl has sworn off relationships just to find the love of her life at Christmas' plot. The characters are adorable and you can't help rooting for them. If you are looking for a fun, quick read with adorable characters, then you can't go wrong with this book.

Exactly what I expected it to be, in a good way. A sweet little romance. I "solved" the mystery and predicted the romantic outcome immediately, but that didn't detract too much from the story. A quick, fun read, with a mild sci-fi/fantasy twist.

Created for Christmas - Another entertaining, heartwarming story from Ms. Schultz. This is a well written, interesting story with good storylines that kept me immersed until the last page. The characters are likable and realistic. This quickly read, sweet story is the perfect for a relaxing spell with a cuppa and a furbaby curled up next to you. 4*

Blood & Holy Water: Angels of Sojourn, Book One - I couldn't put this book down without a fight. Another well written, well thought out story concerning an unusual vampire (I like what was done with this character) and a wingless angel. Enemies with the same goal, but different results gained, work together to solve the deaths of potential angels and murdered vampires, and the ties between the two groups. The characters are realistic and both have morals and ethics. The angel goes a little gray, but there's so much involved in her decisions in trying to help the humans and potential angels. There's intrigue and suspense, and the book moves at a fast pace. There's sexual tension, but no sex - thank goodness this author treats angels as angels not sex starved humans without morals - and very infrequent vulgar language. 5*

Magical Connections - A collection of novellas, short and spin-off stories. They were well edited with interesting characters and suspense and intrigue, and touches of romance. Even the stories that were part of a series, could be read without knowing any other book from that series. There are no cliffhangers or continuations to another book for the rest of the story, while I certainly enjoyed. I'm looking forward to reading more of Ms. Schultz. 4*

Fangs & Fairy Dust - I enjoy Ms. Schultz's stories, which I discovered in Hexes and Ohs, and was happy to find this collection. This is a well written and believable novella introducing the Angels of Sojourn series, of which Blood & Holy Water is the first book. The main characters, a male vampire and a female human and her mother, are interesting and believable, along with action and dialog. It is fast paced and contains vivid descriptions making everything easy to visualize. Fortunately, it is not a cliffhanger. 4*

The Mail-Order Bride - I read this little story in Hexes and Ohs, my first by her. It's a new twist on a witch's tale, which makes for a cute and intriguing romance. Entertaining and enjoyable. 4*

Hidden - A lovely, heartwarming novella about discovery, love and kindness, and loneliness. Searching for her baby's father leads a pregnant fairy to new adventures and learning experiences, and a vast change to her life, while she shares her godmother skills without her magic. There's plenty of humor and danger included in this sweet story. 5*

The Enchanted Apothecary - A sweet, romantic, little story where while grieving for her mother, she has suspicions of a male customer and his use of dark magic, and how she confronts him. There's a good balance of suspense, intrigue and romance. The ending brings a big smile when the truth is told. This story is similar to the romantic stories of the superhero wives world. 4*

One Possible Future - I read this short in the Angels & Magic: Bonus Collection. An interesting, well written, quickly read story between a psychic and a fallen angel and the possible futures awaiting them. The next story is available in the Wings & Wonder boxed set. 4*

Bitten - A sad but heartwarming short story of a mother's love for her small son bitten by a werewolf. The lengths she went to keep him safe. This is a spinoff from the Angels of Sojourn Series. 4*
Magical Connections end.

A lovely, heartwarming Christmas tale

Joy's books always fill me with joy, appropriately. She writes what are, on the surface, straightforward stories, almost sweet, with lots of heart and I don't mean any disrespect with that description because I love all her work. But alongside all that, she blends in so much more, very cleverly, and each story deals with so many different themes that there is a real depth to stories that appear, on the surface, to be sometimes quite "cozy" (again, no disrespect). I have found every single thing I have read by her thought-provoking whilst still being entertaining.
This story is about Ivy, a woman who decides to create her perfect humanoid companion for her own Christmas present. She has a large family that all live nearby and they are a loving, happy family. But Ivy is lonely and lost, (in effect, grieving for her long-term relationship after her fiancé cheated and left her), hurt and afraid of getting close to anyone, so her walls are very firmly up, protecting herself and her heart. It takes skill to write a story about a character going through all that and not make it miserable but Joy rises to the challenge without fail, every time. All her books have heart and humour in them, whether it is her Angels of Sojourn series, the Superheroes series or any of the standalones like this one. They make me think but most of all. they make me smile and that's all I want on a cold miserable day like today, or any day for that matter.
If you haven't read anything by Joy yet, I recommend any of her work because whatever you pick it will be well-written and enjoyable.

What a cute and magical holiday romance! After Ivy’s emotional past she vows to never fall in love again. With that in mind she seeks out companionship with a humanoid robot that is customized to her wants and needs. As she works with the engineer in care of creating her droid, she finds herself forming a friendship with the Dr. When a priceless gift goes missing from her home she finds herself snooping through her family’s houses with the help of the Dr. Pierce. Will this case bring the two together or will Ivy stay true to her vows? If you’re looking for a delightfully fun and cute cozy mystery for the holidays I would recommend this book! The writing is excellent and there is great character interaction with emphasis on the importance of family.

Ivy wants a companion to spend time with. Dating is more trouble than worth: all many lumps of coal with no diamonds. Enter Dream Droids. Have your own companion built especially for you. Her family has a Christmas custom to share the opportunity to learn what each gift package contains before the big day. The best present of the year merits boasting rights. After the ceremony, the present Ivy bought for her dad disappears. The same happens to its replacement.

This Mystery Romance contains a twist of Science Fiction. This is a family issue. Not one for the police. The most glaring motives are hyper-competitiveness, greed, and prank. The race is on to unmask the culprit and restore Christmas balance. The tale ends in a flourish as the trail diverges from the original. Overall, this is an enjoyable story.

Easy-to-read. Entertaining. Happily Ever After. Romantic. Unpredictable. Whimsical. Wonderful characters.

Love in the most unexpected places

A wonderful warm, sweet story that will have you smiling. Great characters, full of warmth and feeling.
She had been badly hurt by her ex and now is scared to make herself vulnerable to the same feeling. However she is lonely, even with a large family she wants a companion someone just for her. Someone who won't hurt her or betray her. That is why with Christmas just days away she is at the place where they make humanoid druids. However the scientist doing the programming manages to get under her skin. When one of her Christmas presents goes missing, he offers to help. How will his meeting with her family go? What will future meetings with him show her? How will she interact with the druid?

Wonderful, Just Missing Something

I love the concept of this story. The tie to Christmas is kind of genius in its own way. My only criticism is that it's a little too easy reading-wise. That sounds crazy, I know, but it just doesn't have that oomph that usually takes a book over the top and makes it stand out. Maybe if there was more in terms of the conflict element of the story, just something more to justify the happy ending we're given, taffy out the time our main characters spend with each other in order to make Ivy's feelings about both her humanoid and it's maker more conflicting to give the readers a more satisfactory end when she makes her ultimate decision, that would have made it perfect.

A holiday novella in which the heroine decides to get a droid for a companion because human males are disappointing. She has to be interviewed to get the droid's personality right, and makes friends with the scientist who works in the droid company. They have a little mystery to solve as her family has a tradition to gather to hint and guess which the Christmas gifts they bought each other but her Christmas gifts keep disappearing.

I found it a little hard to get into this because of the droid angle but it didn't seem quite as unrealistic as the family tradition to buy all the Christmas presents early enough to brag about them in the weeks before Christmas. I'm a last minute shopper myself.

Mandroid programmed to be everything a woman could want Vs a chance on romance that could break your heart. Sweet story!

The perfect mandroid, programmed to be everything a woman wants, or an imperfect flesh-and-blood man? Ivy learns what she truly loves in this entertaining and sweet romance. Should she choose the Artificial Intelligence man who will never love her, but will never break her heart ... or should she take a chance on her android’s programmer and put her heart out there to possibly get stomped flat again? I enjoyed this book very much, just the right story to read at Christmas, or anytime of the year. perfect for anyone who wants sweet, clean romance and a dash of mystery.

~Fun Christmas Romance
~This is a light short story. It is seasonable correct…and, it is a good break between serious mysteries. It is on the rather predictable side of plots. However, being that it is a cozy Christmas romance story, that is to be expected. The characters were fun. It is part of a series of short stories, and one could easily read one after another.
~If you are looking for a thought-provoking story with complex character development, and multiple plot twists and misdirection…well, this one prob’ly isn’t for you.
~If you are looking to relax and escape into a lighthearted romance which takes place during the magical Christmas holiday season…well, this is one that you defiantly want to read!

Wow the perfect man is the perfect Christmas gift to give yourself. Almost human, well yes but if you do not want your heart broken then almost human is good. Then again, being human means we can love and feel joy when we are with a special someone who is also human. Which would you choose?
The characters and the plot were truly fascinating and fun. You will fall in love with the family and the traditions. A very heartwarming Christmas story that brings out what is truly important, family. You will be glad you read this book.

What a cute, lovely little story. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It is a pleasure to read books like this now and then, it kind of clears your mind after reading all the intrigue, mystery, etc. of most books. I look forward to reading more of this author's books, hoping they will be as soothing as this one was. I feel that this is the kind of book everyone needs from time to time, to keep them focused and in balance.

This WAS a "sweet little holiday romance," just like the subtitle says. A bit silly, in some respects, but most cozy mystery/holiday stories fall under that description. This was a nice little holiday pick-me-up. For the most part, it was very well-written and kept me turning the pages. There were a few minor typos, but nothing too distracting. The ending is somewhat predictable - *I* figured it out, ahead of time, anyway. But getting there was still a pleasant trip.

The "L" word didn't really work out for Ivy. She's sworn off of romantic relationships, but she's lonely. So in the interest of finding a relationship that can't hurt her, she decides to develop a Dream Droid. Only in the process she seems to fall in love with the engineer guiding the creation of her new companion.

Interesting premise and I'm pretty curious how things go with the sister in the next book.

Cute and quirky Christmas romance. Ivy, one of a set of identical triplets, is ordering a humanoid companion that can never break her heart. Dr. Pierce is the programmer helping her through the process. He also helps when an important gift disappears during a family function. Ivy is happy to have a friend, and used him as the model for the humanoid, what could possibly go wrong? This is first in the series.

A Perfect Holiday Romance

This book kicked off my holiday binge on Christmas books. And a great start it is. Yes, the ending is predictable but you don't realize it until well into the plot. By then you can't help but see how it happens. Don't be discouraged by the title. This is not a book you can judge by its cover.

Sweet holiday read!

A mystery, a little romance, and the importance of family. This was a cute, quick read and I thought very well written. Is perfect really perfect? Or is it something else entirely? Sometimes what we think we want, isn't really what we are looking for.

I received an ARC. This is my honest review.

It's in the title: a sweet little holiday romance. I solved the mystery straightaway, and it was completely predictable that Ivy and Dayton were going to end up together, but I still enjoyed it enough that I'll read the follow-up. However, that family would drive me crazy with those ridiculous holiday traditions.

Cute and adorable. Ivy was fun and Dayton was a classy guy. I did guess the solution to the mystery almost right away, but we can understand why Ivy didn't and it provided a way for her to spend more time with Dayton. I enjoyed the conclusion and wouldn't mind another book set in this universe.

The book is exactly as promised, sweet

The characters are a little too tv for me. I'm sure it would make a great Hallmark movie, but I like real. Anger and lust are key facets of being human, and without them it's bland like tofu. There is nothing wrong with adding depth.
