Love is in the air in Sandy Harbor, Maine and so is murder. Allie McSwain and her PI boyfriend, Alec Blanchard, are thrust into the middle of a murder investigation where love makes solving the murder tricky. Allie and Alec's romance is sweeter than a chocolate raspberry triple layer cake in book six!
I've decided this series isn't for me. I thought Allie was immature in this one, and overall I found her unlikable. I was interested in the mystery, but even that fell a bit flat at the end.
It was almost Valentine's Day and love was in bloom except for the woman who hired Alec to follow her husband. When the unfaithful husband turned into a dead husband, Alec was asked to help the police again and of course, his trusty sidekick Allie wanted in on the action. She really cracks me up sometimes! I felt so sorry for her at their Valentine's date though for embarrassing herself. But Alec was such an awesome guy, he didn't let much bother him.
I was never really sure whodunit, although one person really stood out for a while. The showdown was good. Allie was happy that Valentine's Day at least worked out well for Thad and Sarah. I'll be borrowing the next book in KU soon!
Catching up on reviews. Didn’t realize kindle wasn’t marking these completed.
Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...
1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.
2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.
3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.
4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.
5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.
I couldn't put it down!! What a mess Alec Blanchard had to go through, the many suspects to help the police chief found out the how and the why. Alec retired from the police and has opened up his Private detective office. With his girl Allie McSwain, she works for Henry's Home Cooking Restaurant, owner Cynthia Hoffer the widow of Henry Hoffer that was killed in the kitchen there. Allie helped get the murderer. Allie is helping Alec with case after whining to help, so she tags along through the whole book. Because Alec made her is assistant so he can get help fix up his office. You will like this book, it's a IT company that moves into Maine from the lower East Coast and stuff hits the fan with the employees that work there.
I always love these books, and that was no different for this one. I will say that it took me a bit longer to get into this book than it has many of the others, but I still enjoyed it a great deal.
As I've read the books out of order, I can definitely say that the author's skill improves as the books go up in number, but these are still wonderful little cozy mysteries, and I adore them!
Really enjoyed this with more adventures for Alec and Allie! The plot was really good and the romance is building for the two main characters! I'll start no 7 and hope there will be more soon!
I have read six books so far in this series and have enjoyed all of them. The authors are good. I can’t wait to see what Allie will do next to make Alec’s life more interesting. When will he pop the question?
It is Valentine Day and Allie and Alec are solving another murder. The book is engaging, it has a nice cozy atmosphere. The mystery is good. I enjoyed reading this book of my favourite serie and look forward to the next one.
I love this series so much and if you love a great cozy with characters you will love and a story that keeps you turning the page this one is a must read
I'm finding that I need to completely dismiss the idea of how small town women would never get away with inserting themselves into murder investigations and then I can just sit back and enjoy instead of constantly thinking that there's no way Alec would ever let Allie just tag along or go off on her own.
While this was a fast read it had a lot going on. It was nice to see the progression of Allie and Alex's romance. Allie's friend Lucy is as funny as ever. If you would like to read a quick but good mystery then I recommend this book
