As always Ms Oliver delivered light and enjoyable read! Interspecies mating, snobby vampires and a mate in the doghouse - it was fun and heart warming story about two men who had to go through trouble after trouble to get their happy ever after.
Raoul is one of the oldest vampires, he is always there for his coven and he keeps the streets of San Jose at peace. It takes him time and ingenuity of family relations to come to his senses and accept that his mate is perfect for him. Samuel is a dragon shifter and when his mate rejects him it takes all his strength to just go on with his life. But Fate has other plans for him. These two men are perfect for each other.
This book is full of humor, naughty brothers, traitors and a big dragon's hoard. I enjoyed both Samuel and his dragon's interactions with Raoul, I loved how they solved their difficulties and created their own family. Mpreg was a surprise development here but not unwelcome, and the ending was so sweet! I loved it! I am looking forward to what she will come up with next!

DNF at 17%.
I was already pretty upset at Raul for resisting their mate bond, even when he KNEW it was causing Samuel pain and difficulty.
I HATE when a character resists and, if it weren't for the interference of friends or family, they would have continued to resist. In this case, Raul gets delivered to Samuel's door after Samuel's cousins kidnap him. Raul decides to go along with it because he was stupid to reject Samuel. But, like Samuel, I would never feel like I could trust Raul to do something hard for his sake. Ya, he caved, but it felt like a weakass move.
And THEN!? Raul rushes Samuel into sex... with NO PREP! It's so gross and disturbing and starts to feel close to SA to me. He's not checking in and we're in Samuel's POV hearing how uncomfortable he is (physically). It gives me whole body shivers.

I enjoyed this one more than the first one. While Raoul struggled with being in a relationship he wasn’t as bad as Dirk. I felt for Samuel trying to navigate his way through a new area and by still trying to keep his own personality intact. He fought for Raoul to notice and understand that he wasn’t weak and even though he was an omega was still an apex predator, which Raoul forgot at times.
I felt for Samuel when Raoul left him at the start of the book. He tried so hard to just continue on with life. His cousins are a classic and I hope they get their own books.
I got to admit I’m not a fan of Samuels brother Byron, I thought he redeemed himself after the first book but nope back even worse this time and Ms Oliver is going to have to do some work to redeem him

This is my least favourite of this series, I don't hate it but Sam is such a floppy character, the author can't decide if he's submissive and patient or just passive aggressive, because he always complains about things he doesn't like/want in his head, doesn't communicate and then he either gets mad out of nowhere or when Raul tries to communicate and admit that he was wrong he makes excuses for him and the behaviour he wanted changed in the first place 😓
Midnight was a delight with his hoard and jewels tho x)

Nicely dramatic with the usual sexy bonding necessary between true fated mates.
Despite the great storyline and exciting details of the dissension and potential uprising happening within Raoul's coven, there are still too many grammatical and typographical errors for comfort. At this stage in this particular writer's career, her publications should not have that.many NOTICEABLE errors. One or two may be excused and even overlooked; however, I'm far too literal and particular about grammar, spelling, punctuation and so forth to not notice every mistake. Therefore, I glare and fume at each mortifying, obviously careless error that was overlooked, that so easily might have been avoided had there been proper proofreading and editing performed.
So - anyway. . . I loved the story itself. Samuel turns out to be so, so much MORE, and his dragon is too adorable for words. It's no wonder Raoul is unable to resist him, just as Samuel can't help falling hard for his strong, irresistibly gorgeous, vampire. Raoul quickly realizes Samuel is far from the weak submissive he had first thought and feared his beloved would be, while Samuel gifts Raoul with way more treasure, happiness and love than anybody could've imagined, especially Raoul. Lovely, lively and sweet. I liked this one a lot, and give it five stars. Just, proofread, please.

While I enjoyed it, this book in the City Dragon series was not a good as the first one in the series. I think it’s because I never quite warmed up to Raoul as much as I hoped I would. Samuel, I liked, but he spent way too much time catering to Raoul’s needs and neglecting his own. My favorite parts were when he actually stood up to Raoul. I like that the dragons are a separate entity in this series. The interaction between the dragons and their human counterparts is interesting.
The story itself was good. It focused mainly on Raoul’s coven and all the drama created by others trying to take over Raoul’s leadership. I liked the parts that dealt with Samuel’s family more. I would have liked more interaction with them. Since Samuel moved away to the other side of the country, we didn’t get near enough of Jon and Dirk. Also, m-preg features heavily in this story so the blurb saying it is not the main focus of the story is a bit misleading.
All in all, the story was good. It was just a bit of a let down considering how much I liked the first one in the series. I’m curious to see how the author redeems Byron in the next one. He was so awful in this one.

I have to confess Lisa OLiver is a bit Hit-and-miss for me. this story is a perfect example. It could have been great but somehow the writing just did not do it for me
it was a insta-love story as they are mates but especially Roul just does not really seem to care for Sam ... or at least not really

A great m/m paranormal romance
This book continues the series with another mixed mating, this time a dragon and a vampire. Samuel is the third Hollingsworth heir, a meek omega unused to standing up for himself discovers a powerful vampire is his fated mate but the vampire rejects the mating because he feels Samuel is too young and too weak. Of course the Fates have their way and we have a claiming and a pregnant dragon. There is danger, betrayal, coven politics, family dynamics, misunderstanding and love with our dragon coming into his own. It is a wonderful story and well worth the reading, more than once. The dragon clan gets another hybrid dragon, (first one from book one). The dragons rejoice and I can hardly wait to read book three.

Great seties
Loved Sam and Raoul. Dragon + vampire = baby! This is another great series by Lisa Oliver. I can't wait to read Byron' s book, even tho he's a big poopy head and doesn't deserve a mate.

Samuel, my sweet Samuel. I've looked forward to your book and the fates sure gave you a kick ass take no prisoners mate in Raoul. Vampire elder, Raoul is a ruthless leader. He has vast territory and a number of different types of paranormals in which he leads/ watches over. That's all well and good, round of applause for fearless Raoul. The problem is between all his work obligations the man has no time for poor Samuel, his dragon shifter mate.
Samuel is the youngest son in his dragon family. You may remember in book 1 he also got his heart broken when he found out the man he was in love with was sleeping with half the staff in his brother's company. He may be a fierce dragon shifter, but he also has a good heart and is somewhat naive. The man also has a penchant for suffering in silence. He tells no one the staff at work are harassing him. He tells no one when his mate originally rejects him and leaves him heartbroken and pining. He tells no one when he feels Raoul is neglecting him and he's unhappy living in the coven. The man just grins and bears it all the way which is no way to be in a relationship.
Raoul is hardly blameless in the situation. Yes as he says, he is not a mind reader but there were plenty of people who had no problem mentioning his faults as a mate. None of whom were his own mate. Communication my friends! Works wonders! Not to mention on top of it all someone is trying to kill and take over Raoul's position as leader of the coven. It all adds up to a giant clusterfuck.
Eventually the actual talking occurs between these two fated mates. Raoul works on having more time devoted to spending with his mate, while Samuel works on speaking up if he has an issue or something is on his mind. Compromise, it's a beautiful thing. Settled the two are able to work out a way to be happy and also to circumvent the plot against them. An HEA ending sweetens the pot.
....side note: I have to say Byron did not seem to learn his lesson the first time around about his highhandedness and superiority complex. When he finds his mate I really really hope he gets what's coming to him first

Well hmm. There wasn’t much of a plot. There was a general threat to Raoul’s leadership but it was apparently common. The story is mostly about them working out the bumps in their relationship, mostly Raoul not giving Samuel what he needs and Samuel not telling Raoul what those needs are. There are a couple of action moments but they’re over quickly. Definitely not enough for me. The dragon was so separate here it felt like a ménage where one was asexual.
The women again were horrible. They were baby making machines. But so is the omega but he also gets to be powerful and respected. I didn’t like the ruling and discussion concerning children. It wasn’t considering the needs of the children, just trying to punish the adults for being irresponsible. I don’t think the parents should be forced to be together at all. But the father shouldn’t be sent away and the judge coldly say it’s the responsibility of the pack to raise the pups and that it was the woman’s fault. They assumed the pups weren’t the man’s because he said so without DNA, despite claiming they would use technology to be sure.
The women were just awful, nasty and useless people in this book like the previous one. They were only in the book to be fighting over a man for marriage and to have children. It’s the most sexist book I’ve read in a long time. I did like that the MPreg was by magic not anal delivery though.
The author must be from somewhere not in North America because she uses terms and expressions that aren’t American like nappies and crisps. I don’t know why it’s then set in the US. Do books really sell better if it’s that way? We Americans really suck if that’s true. Not that we don’t often already.
One of the main reasons I listened to this book when I wasn’t that excited about the first book was that I really liked the reader. This time it was someone else, John York, and I had some issues. His voices were fine but he had so many odd pronunciations it was really distracting. He said things oddly like patrons was pronounced payTRAWNS, (caps indicate emphasized syllable). Buffet had the emphasis on the first syllable. Omnipotence was pronounced like the two separate words together. OMniPOtence. And many more including inconsistency in pronouncing Raoul.
Also, I didn’t realize that Samuel’s dragon was talking because it was a normal, tenor voice, not the albeit throat rending voice of the previous book that I loved. It must have hurt the reader it was so harsh and this new reader couldn’t do it. But something in between would be better.
I don’t think I’ll listen to the next one partially because it’s the same reader and the main dragon is Byron. The way York pronounces it is so weird it pulled me out of the story every single time.

Samuel Hollingsworth is not your typical dragon shifter—his dragon is a rare omega, making his temperament less aggressive than most of his kind. Ancient vampire Raoul rules the supernaturals in his city and coven with a firm hand, providing a safe place for the weak but meting out vicious punishments to those who prey on them. When Raoul learns that Sam is his fated mate, he initially resists but eventually welcomes Sam into his coven, despite the resentment of some in Raoul’s inner circle. As the media attention and attempts on Raoul and Sam’s lives ratchet up, the two will have to learn how to live in partnership.
Despite the gripping action, this MPREG / shifter romance didn’t grab me as much as the first book. Sam was childish at times when he chaffed under Raoul’s assumptions and protection. Their relationship was like an arranged marriage, they really didn’t know anything about the other and they were constantly playing catch up and falling over their assumptions. I’ve been trying to pinpoint what I found unsatisfying … I think it’s some plot holes, a lack of character development, and the easy way things keep resolving—the nonstop events just keep us skimming along the surface. I did like the concept that Sam and his dragon were almost two thirds of the people in the relationship. I also thought Sean Crisden did a great job on the first audiobook and that John York didn’t really measure up here.

This time there was actual character development (the doormat becoming a bit more assertive and the dominant elder actually listening to his beloved), though I'm still sad we didn't get too experience more of the paranormal world. We got vampires, dragons, wolves and big cats. No non-predatory shifters like deer or dog and no fey. And I would not recommend reading it as a standalone or the characters and their history don't make much sense.
There is mpreg, which the MCs themselves didn't know was an option. I'm not generally a fan of mpreg, but I do like it more when the conceiving omega isn't seen as weaker and incapable - I absolutely hate the omegaverse. That, plus no shifters beside the stereotypical and no fey makes the world building feel a bit weird. We are told there is more to this world but we don't get to see it.
There is mpreg, which the MCs themselves didn't know was an option. I'm not generally a fan of mpreg, but I do like it more when the conceiving omega isn't seen as weaker and incapable - I absolutely hate the omegaverse. Some books are written for pure entertainment and campy fun not to be the next great novel. These authors often have a formula that works and the ability to churn the stories out. I rate in comparison to books of a broad similar length and type.
Lisa Oliver's stories and writing are typically much better than the average found in this type. Despite the short length, there is usually more development of characters, the plot, etc...
For me, this felt more like the norm for campy brain candy. Little to no development of characters or plot. Sudden and convenient extra OTT effects with no set up. I never really felt the passion or love and it felt like the characters personalities were all over the place. The story didn't flow well either. The villian popped up (as such) out of the blue and with less than a paragraph as to why etc... The pack issues were intriguing and written more to expectations. It had some development and detail.

OK, I am going to say right up front... I really would have liked to have had those "missing words"!!! But, as a fairly educated person, I managed to fill in the blanks! *snort* ;p
As for Samuel and Raoul, talk about two people quickly learning about themselves! Communication is the number one thing to hold a relationship together, and yes, hot sex doesn't hurt it, and just in case no one noticed... no one can read minds! Not in real life and not in books, unless, of course, the author deems it so! *grin* Asking for what you need and on occasion, what you want, is not being demanding or being whiny... it is called COMMUNICATION!!!

Samuel's dragon is not happy after Samuel's mate abandoned them without even acknowledging that they were mates. The separation is having very negative effects on both Samuel and Raoul. Samuel is losing weight and sleep, Raoul is unable to feed and his strength is weakening. In a daring move Samuel's cousins kidnap Raoul and leave him on Samuel's doorstep. Even Raoul can't resist the mating call by this time. Adapting to having a beloved is difficult for Raoul after centuries of living alone. Finding time and privacy away from his duties as the paranormal leader in San Jose is difficult. Midnight, Samuel's dragon has a secret: he's an omega and pregnant. Raoul notices something's off with Samuel and the pregnancy comes to life, now he has even more to protect. Will they be able to find safety amidst the threats to Raoul’s leadership, the animosity against their hybrid child, and an overprotective dragon clan? Another non stop read!

Very fun seeing this couple learn to be mates
I loved Samuel and Raoul, especially after Samuel's kin decided to help them find happiness. It took Raoul some time to realize that his mate was neither weak nor fragile. At the same time, it took a while for Samuel to learn that he was worthy of expressing himself to his mate and new community.
I loved how we got teasers of the side characters in this story such that I'm excited to see what Byron's mate will be like, and I hope that we get to see Craven find a mate as well.

Such a great book. If I had any wish it would be that it was longer, that there were a few more fights so that Samual could be bad ass again but more than that, that I could hear about the strength and abilities a vampire 1200 years old has. Also I have a need to know what the fate of the 3 arsewholes who had a go at Samual at this leaving party.
Oh also there was no comment or indication how the Sammy’s family felt about their new nephew which annoyed me.
Basically I loved it and just want more so much more but I tend to be greedy. Must read but only after reading book one

I really enjoyed Roan and Samuel’s story but I wasn’t too keen on the narrator switch. He grew on me but I didn’t like how feminine he made Jon sound and how he pronounced Byron’s name.
I wanted to smack Ro upside the head a bunch of times for being neglectful and the whole “I’m not a mind reader” reason didn’t lessen the want for smacking him.
I really wanted to know if the relationship between Byron and Sam was fixed but I’m assuming we will find out next book. I would’ve liked to see that resolved slightly in this one.
Low heat: not very descriptive, minimal scenes

Samuel and Raoul have a rough go of things. Mating doesn't make things all sunshine and rainbows, even for true mates. Raoul had been alone for a long time and Samuel was used to being ignored, forgotten, and underestimated. Raoul continues how he was used to doing things and Samuel just went along with things, despite how he felt. This wasn't a good combination for an equal and loving relationship. Poor Samuel does get most of the emotional beat-down in this book. I liked seeing them grow into a true, loving, equal couple. A *happy* couple.

Blood, gore, hearts... such a fabulously enjoyable read.
Samuel is totally adorable and Midnight is a delight.
Raoul did not behave as I expected following the first book but he is a man of integrity and does eventually live up to the Vampire his beloved deserves.
A kidnapping, several murders and a lot of deception makes this an excellent read.
I really can't wait for the audio of this book!

The rating given after reading this book is well deserved for the authors unique style of writing such a diverse paranormal romance novel. I chose this book because Lisa Oliver is well known for her well written, addictive plots that explodes with suspense, romance and lots of action. I recommend this book to those who are looking for well written entertainment. Looking forward to the next installment.

So, I did not see Samuel and Raoul coming together but man, they are a great match. Well, once everything gets worked out between them. I like that Samuel isn't like the other dragons while Raoul tries to figure out how to be a good mate. Their story takes twists and you wonder exactly how the two will make it through some of them but it happens and you'll love the ride.
Though, it's going to take someone special to deal with Samuel's brother. That will be one interesting book!

Amazing
What another brilliant story from this talented author. lis a sure knows how to get you so into the lives of the characters you think they are real. Raoul was such a hard man to hate even though he deserved a slap with the way he behaves but Samuel soon brought out the truly loving caring man he was inside. But who says true love runs smoothly !! So can't wait to see Bryon story

Nice change of pace
This story is very different from the first book. Samuel is a dragon but not ferocious but taken advantage of and not really respected. Samuel is also a young dragon who finds his soul mate in Raoul, a vampire elder and coven leader. Raoul runs away from Samuel because he’s so busy and he doesn’t want young Samuel exposed to the dark life of a coven. They’re in for an adventure!

Lovable characters
The City Dragons have continued in a great way with this book! Easy and enjoyable read. A few typos and grammatical errors need to be looked at for any updates.
The characters are amazing! Everyone you are introduced to are memorable. The hidden plot was over simplified but that makes the book a fast read. It felt like There was more to the Kelvin character than the author have us but I could have been imagining things.

Fated mates
I love dragon shifters and even better when mated with a vampire.
Raoul and Samuel are great together and even if there's some ups and downs while getting to know each other , they are right for each other.
And I love Samuels omega dragon Midnight, he's magnificent, beautiful and has a big surprise for everyone.
Can't wait for Bryon to find his mate, hopefully it's a witty, snarky, take-no-bullshit man that can humble him.

Phenomenal
I don't have the words to speak about this book. It was amazing and I felt so much love with it. There was pain but I loved the love. I love this author and I've her books. She never disappoints and I can't wait for more. This has been one of the best books I've ever read.

OMG ! I love this book! So happy to have read the 2nd book in this series! I loved Samual and "the Prince" of vampires. They definitely had to work for thier happy ending. Even so, they worked together and it was a fabulous story! I love Lisa's ability to bring these characters to life. Cant wait to read the next book!!
