I loved this debut novel. Izzy and Dawson are in love. It shines through the pages. It is in how they are with one another physically and emotionally. The plot is interesting, paced well, and it leaves room both for conflict and growth. The writing is solid with great use of imagery. I fell for Dawson pretty quickly and loved his devotion. Izzy was a good heroine, trying to be supportive of her man’s career and dream while still solidifying her own identity.

I will say that it does end with a cliffhanger so we don’t get Izzy and Dawson’s HFN/HEA but I’m definitely interested in what’s to come.

The reason I’m giving this a 5 star is the freaking ending! I NEED ANSWERS!! When is the second book coming out?!? I can’t deal with this cliffhanger gaaaaaah!

Anyways.... this was an amazing read. Finished it in less than a day, that’s how good it was! These indie authors are freaking better than the well known ones! I can’t believe this is Charli’s debut novel! THAT is one damn good book!
The buildup of the relationship was amazing. At one point, I was wondering when the heck Dawson and Izzy would get into a conflict because throughout the book their relationship was basically better than perfect. Until... BAAAAM!!! You have to read the book! I have so many questions and I need my answers now!!

I received this book for an honest review and all I can say is I can’t wait for the second book! Eeeeek!!!

New-to-me-author/Kindle Unlimited (first book in series with a cliffhanger); so on to the second book where I'm hoping for another hit scored with love. I'm always up for a Rockstar romance and this is one of those that will steal your heart in so many ways while reeling out the surprises.

I loved these characters and the sweet love they shared as childhood friends with ups and downs throughout, then teenagers parted by miles separating them when parents divorce -- but somehow keeping in touch in such wonderful sparks of renewal. The author simply kept me turning the pages with such a fun-to-read and a musical rhapsody of words in this first love and heartbreak to a hopeful HEA. No such luck though -- readers will find a cliffhanger that bursts the bubble of love.

I really enjoyed this novel! I hated how it ended because I'm still not sure what is wrong with Izzy and why Dawson just ghosted her! I really want to read part two of their story now! Most of the book was about their short time in Amsterdam and only a little bit of the book focused on them being apart. Overall, I really enjoyed the story but definitely not the ending!

Coming into this book- I was desperately looking for something that would completely consume me. Draw me into a whole other world of someone else's problems.

Most love stories begin at the VERY beginning. Where either character is facing a life-threatening problem and suddenly the other one stumbles into their meagre life and messed it all over. For better or worse.
But THIS story, began in the middle. It's the part of the story a reader never gets to read because the book ended a while ago. When they decided they were it for each other. This book began while everything was happy- sunshine and rainbows.

And I was utterly perplexed. The two characters were SO in love, you just KNEW they HAD to be endgame. I wondered how anything could possibly mess them up.

I found out.
I still don't really understand what happened. All I can understand is that it hurts. I hurt for Izzy so bad. But also very, very lost. I can't comprehend that ending.

But all that needs to be known is that that ending, made up for EVERYTHING. It fixed the whole plot line. And now I cannot WAIT to see what happens next.

I don't really know how I feel right now. I think I need a minute (or 30) to gather my thoughts after the rollercoaster of emotions that were the last few chapters. And I definitely need book 2 ASAP !!!!

Izzy and Dawson are part of those characters you wish will get their HEA because they deserve it despite their mistakes (yeah Dawson, I'm talking about you !). They were so "real" and true in their feelings. Izzy full of insecurities and still she believed in him and them. And Dawson was so endearing with his commitment to her until he disappointed me. The love they share was beautiful to witness until it wasn't enough. And that broke my heart.

I loved that we get right into the action from the very beginning and that I could relate to the characters. Though I'd like to know more about Dawson's bandmates, but that can wait after I get closure with the last word of book 2 which, I don't know if I said, I need real soon.

It was my first book by Charli B. Rose but definitely not my last.

They are already together when the story starts so you don’t get the feels. I like to see how my characters meet/connect. Not for me.
DNF.
Also, the introduction to a song every few chapters was distracting. My opinion.

2.5 Stars - The majority of this book IMO was sex over substance. By the end I came to the conclusion that this couple knew each other forever, had limited time together so 99% of it was spent in bed, ok I get they are in their early 20's and can't get enough - but I sure had. What saved this book from being a one star was the end, normally I do not like cliffhangers or abrupt endings but it was the only interesting part of this book for me even as far fetched as it was. You know each other since you are 3 yrs old you can't reach someone other than what's shown on gossips sites so that's it? I am skeptical but forging on.

Loved the characters and the way their story developed over time, in layers of hope and challenges. Well written, hate cliff hangers, but am so looking forward to next book. Sweet heat level, love the growth of the relationship. He's a keeper, and she's a strong heroine. More, please!

Wow really???

First off Dawson is a twat!! To let a conniving label and manager rule and take over like that is just awful! Grow a pair please!! My ❤ is broken for Izzy right now, I'm mad for her. And the mystery of what's wrong with her ??? I need answers thank you very much.
I'm so mad right now but I will be reading the next book because this reader needs to know ALL of it.

I received a free copy of this book from NABC and the author in exchange for an honest review!

WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT ENDING??? I NEED THE NEXT BOOK LIKE NOW!!!!!!

Izzy and Dawson have been in love with each other practically their whole lives but have only officially been together for three years. Unfortunately for them, there is a clause in Dawson's contract with his record label that prevents him from being able to shout his love for Izzy to the masses.

But it doesn't seem to hinder their love. If anything it appears (to me) to strengthen it and I loved that about these two characters. Their love is pure and so real and it's expressed beautifully by Charli throughout the whole book. Izzy and Dawson love each other endlessly but because of his celebrity status and the fact that there are people who actually control Dawson's life, it limits their life together.

Dawson has plans for the rest of their lives but he has to wait because of his lifestyle and the fact that the label WANTS him to appear single because god forbid that the ticket sales and the album sales drop. UGH, executives just ruin EVERYTHING don't they???

Most of the book is Izzy and Dawson being a happy in love couple while the band is on tour in Europe and she is visiting him. But things turn sour when the media get ahold of some shots that the label guys do not like. But despite the pressures that this creates the two work through it together and never let it come between them. They call each other and text and assure each other constantly that they love each other and that makes this book so amazing but also why the ending hurt so much.

ALSO IS SHE PREGNANT OR NOT????? BECAUSE I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED AT THAT DOCTORS APPOINTMENT AND I ALSO WANT TO KNOW WHY THE HELL DAWSON JUST STOPPED TALKING TO HER AND REPLYING... although to be honest I have a very very sneaking suspicion that is has A LOT TO DO WITH LILA (what a itch with a b!!!)

Charli created music and love and it is absolutely perfect. I actually started this book way back towards the beginning of the month, and got 7% into it, but because of the holidays and other review deadlines, I put this on the back burner and then was like OH I NEED TO FINISH THIS, and by midnight last night I was done. I could NOT put it down and when I absolutely had to, I was aching for my kindle to be back in my hands so that I could keep reading. I kept waiting for everything to fall apart because I knew it was going to from the synopsis, but it wasn't prepared for the spectacular ending that just destroyed me.

OKAY CHARLI, I'M READY FOR NOTES OF THE HEART NOW!!!

Oh My gosh !!!!!
This book is Incredible
I absolutely LOVED this story ,which is Beautifully written by Charli B Rose.
It really did blow me away,I was so entrenched within the pages I could not put it down, until I had absorbed every single word and stayed up until the early hours to finish it.
Dawson and Izzy's Romance swept me away,a young love but no ordinary Love as Dawson is frontman to a very popular Rock band. Childhood best friends which turned into more their Love story is trying to survive in a world of fame..
I swooned over their love for one another and how Dawson Loved Izzy it was what romance is all about. He was willing to sacrifice anything to make the relationship work but not everything works the way you want them to and when something happens out of your control,it can test the strongest of bonds.
My emotions were all over the place and my heart was aching so much by the end I am left so frustrated. This is a phenomenal and addictive read and I cannot wait to devour book 2 I need to know Everything there are so many questions swirling inside my mind.
I really enjoyed Beats of the Heart Charli B Rose has created a story that you will never forget and that you will just want more and more of,it has my highest recommendation.

Beats of the Heart is the first book in the Lyrical Odyssey Rock Star Series and is the wonderful debut novel by Charli B. Rose. The story is a steamy friends-to-lovers/Rockstar Romance with second chances, heartbreak, loss, friendship, stardom, heart-ache, emotion, drama, mystery, and more.
Dawson and Izzy are wonderfully crafted characters who really tugged at my heartstrings. I loved following their story- through all the highs and lows of their relationship. These childhood best friends turned sweethearts, then lovers, have had quite the journey. I am so torn by the story because I love it- but because of the way it ended, I really up in the air about a few things and I need the next book NOW, so it can hopefully give me the answers I need! I have been on an emotional rollercoaster ride with this book, but I know there is more to come. There are some big unanswered questions, and some mystery surrounding the way things left off - I can’t wait to see how it all plays out in the next book.
An incredibly good Debut novel!

Thank you, Ms. Rose!

Prepare to have your sweet tooth satisfied with this book. So so so sweet.

Izzy and Dawson went from best friends to lovers. Both crashing into one other so hard neither wanted to come up for air. The love these two had for each other was incredible. I loved reading their story and how they worked through their ups and downs. Dawson was loyal to a fault, not something you usually see in a rock star. And even though Izzy had her insecurities, she was completely devoted in her relationship and trusted Dawson to the fullest.

Their journey was emotional and heartbreaking, both wanting to put the other first. It was truly an emotional roller coaster ride towards the end. And oh man that ending! I need book two like yesterday. The unanswered questions are something that I am dying to discover.

Overall this was a pretty great debut novel! And as I said I will definitely be anticipating the release of book two. I am really excited to read and find out how Izzy and Dawson's story ends.

Childhood friends turned lovers.

Dawson is rocketing to stardom. He has it all, including the girl of his dreams. Izzy is an artist. A beauty. His muse. They were made for each other. Their story showcases how truly in love they were. From tender kisses to shared laughter, the two of them were the epitome of perfection.

Beats of the Heart is one of those romances that grabs hold of your heart and doesn't let go. It's fierce. Beautiful. And utterly heart-wrenching. You'll want to gobble it up, eager for seconds. A definite one-click, must read.

I'm hooked.

Wow...this story has me believing that love is the most powerful thing in this world. The way they show it for one another is what kept me hooked. I turned pages after pages and Dawson became my loving kind of man. Childhood friends who became lovers that gain more from each other was something that I wasn't expecting.
You don't want to miss out on this story because I promise you, you'll fall in love with it.

Loved this brilliant rockstar romance. The unusual start made a great change, straight into the romance, no back story (initially) and no build up, I loved getting to know the characters that way. I didn't like the ending but I suspect that the next book will explain what has happened. It's a story....I've suspended reality and gone with the flow until everything is explained.

Great first book, I'm so looking forward to the next one.

This is my first book by this author. I found I could not put this book down. The characters jumped off the pages and the story line flowed so easily. It was really easy to get lost within the pages. This is book 1 of a 3 book series. It does end in a cliffhanger, but that's ok because I cannot wait to start on book two. I loved Izzy and Dawson. And you will too, so yes I am definitely recommending this book and series!

Wow!

Friends to lovers is one of my favorite types of romance. My heart was crying for Izzy when she was away from Dawson when everything hit the fan. Seeing the one you love with someone else in a compromising position and then not getting an explanation for it, makes it hurt worse. I’m stomping my feet for the cliffhanger at the end..hoping their story gets better!

A great debut effort by an author who will be very successful.
I take a star off a review for cliffhanger books. I hate the concept because I forget the whole book vibe and sometimes I miss part 2 altogether. So right now I'm really mad at Dawson and I have to hold that thought for months........

Rockstar romance

Izzy and Dawson have a love story for the books but with Dawson being a rockstar can their love survive. Will people in Dawson's life try to separate them. TBC......

Beats of the Heart (Lyrical Odyssey Rock Star Series Book 1)
By: Charli B. Rose
5 out of 5 stars

The story Beats of the Heart (Lyrical Odyssey Rock Star Series Book 1) by Charlie B. Rose is a new adult romance book. I loved reading this story. It had me hooked from the very beginning. It is a book that had my emotions going up and down with the characters. I loved reading about Izzy and Dawson. These two have been best friends since they were young and have taken the step from friends to lovers. They believe that their hearts beat as one and that their souls fit together. She is his muse. The music flows because her. This book has some very steamy scenes. The chemistry between Izzy and Dawson is red hot and can make the temperature in the room rise. They imagine their future will be together. What will happen when dark clouds roll in and threaten this couple? Read this story to find out. I grew to love the characters of Izzy and Dawson with each chapter that I read. It was wonderful to read how devoted to each other they are. I like how Dawson took Izzy’s feelings into consideration when he made decisions. Being the girlfriend of a someone who is famous must be hard and Izzy does have times where she feels insecure and the doubts creep in. The way that Izzy and Dawson banter back and forth had me with a smile on my face. This book is definitely one I would recommend reading. It is part one of this couple’s story and I look forward to reading the next part.

This author was recommended to me in a reading group and since she was on KU I though I’d try her first book of the Lyrical Odyssey series. I don’t usually start a book that I know ends on a cliffhanger but the group said it was worth it. Boy we’re they right!

This story starts off with Izzy, an artist, meeting up with her boyfriend Dawson, the lead singer of an up and coming rock band. We learn they net when they were 6 years old and been best friends since, now they’re into their 2 year journey as a couple.

Both H and h are very likable characters, not always the case in a rocker romance. Izzy is strong and independent without being a nasty bitch. Dawson is sweet and romantic with the alpha rocker coming out every so often but never a jerk.

Of course there’s some kind of conflict and drama (hello, why would we read a story without that?) and it affects the relationship. Book ends in a cliffhanger but I loved the story so much I downloaded the next in the series as soon as I finished this. Can’t wait to see what comes next!

This book makes you believe in love and see how truly powerful it is and how quickly it can be taken away.. I mean Dawson and Izzy have been friends since they were kids and then they decided to take the step of relationship.. During this time though, Dawson's band has taken off and on tour.. these two have battled so much and made long distance actually work. It was clear from the beginning that Dawson and Izzy had a very strong connection and a love that makes your heart soar. These two were explosive in and out of the bedroom!! While their relationship was getting stronger, the music company execs were wanting something different and it was putting pressure on them..mostly Dawson. This is when things get ugly.. You have to believe that things will get better and with how strong their love is, they will survive. I really liked this book and most of the characters in it. It was great to see the band members, how they rallied around them and how they treated Izzy in a respectable way. This was a great book!

Love these fast pace books. Dawson and Izzy have been dating for a while. Like 3 years together but with his schedule and concert tours they have a long distance relationship. Dawson has always made Izzy feel like she’s number one in his life. They have their own bubble that almost everyone is loving. Dawson’s manager seems to always have something to say about Izzy and Dawson’s relationship and to keep it out of the public eye. When pictures start to pop up with her hair and profile they were ready to state they are dating but the manager said no. Then when Izzy is home she starts to feel sick again but thought it was jet lack but then she went to the doctor and found some stuff out and during this time Dawson wasn’t answering his phone or email. She started to get nervous and kept trying to get him but then she got and unknown number sent her a text and her world came crashing down. She trying to rid herself of Dawson.

This is a debut novel and it does not disappoint. The characters are extremely likable. Izzy and Dawson have known each other for most of their lives and that is evident throughout, to the point that I felt a little like I started reading in the middle of the story. Dawson is a rock star and Izzy is an artist, the story starts trip to see Dawson while the band is on tour. The conflict in this story is a slow build, which was lovely because you get to really see how much these two love each other before everything goes pear-shaped. There are music and pop culture references throughout which makes for a fun read. I do wish there was more interaction with some of the secondary characters. Three stars because while I genuinely liked, I did not love it. This is the part one of their story and I am looking forward to part two because I have pretty good feeling I will love part two.

Beats of the Heart

I really enjoyed reading this story and I want to read what happens next to Izzy and Dawson. Dawson is a rockstar and is always on the road. Izzy is his girlfriend who has been in love with him since they were children. They have sworn to be together but his record company and Lila, have been making it hard on Dawson. He’s on the road and he’s got no time, he’s trying to be faithful but they want him at parties, with women. It’s all for show. Things begin to go wrong for them and the press is all over them, and it’s not good publicity for the group. Or for Izzy. And communication between the lovers has fallen off, and so has their relationship. It’s a question now if anything is left to save.
