Fort Keogh, 1878 After surviving bloody ambushes by renege Sioux warriors, Lieutenant Colonel Marcus Cavanaugh finds his welcome at Fort Keogh to be hardly a warm one. Major Templeton, the officer who built the fort, is outranked by Cavanaugh and unwilling to play second fiddle to the new commander. With a mutiny and the chain of command endangered, the Sioux begin attacking. Though Cavanaugh orders caution, his subordinate boasts that he could rout the entire Sioux nation with a handful of pony soldiers. The disgruntled major leads his troops straight into a vicious Sioux trap. Now Cavanaugh and the few good men he has left must defeat the savages, and avenge... THE TEMPLETON MASSACRE.
Robert Vaughan is an American writer. He has also written a series of contemporary and historical romance novels under several pseudonyms including "Paula Moore" and "Paula Fairman". His father served in the military and Robert followed him in the 1950s, entering army aviation. He served until the Vietnam War and won numerous medals including the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, the Air Medal with several oak-leaf clusters, the Meritorious Service Medal, and several other medals. His early books reflected his military background: the first novel was about the US Army along the DMZ in Korea, followed by a trilogy set in Vietnam. There are more than 9 million of his books in print under various names. He was inducted into the Writers’ Hall of Fame in 1998.
The Sioux Nation as pointed out by the author, amounted two thousand fighting warriors. The Templeton Massacre could have been avoided. Major Templeton felt he should have been the man on top not Colonel Cavanaugh, whom he was jealous of. If it hadn't been Cavanaugh the same slaughter of soldiers would have occurred. Custer's Last Stand should have never happened. It's called discipline and obeying orders. Never Never underestimate your enemies nor your businesses opponents, because if that's your attitude that they can be beaten or taken over as a merger, because your smarter than the average bear, it's time for you to go and live in the mountains...Lots of logic on both the United States Army and the War Chief White Eagle, the two leaders did not underestimate each other's strength, but Major Templeton did and it cost his life and those soldiers who were with him...very sad and a waste of human life on both sides, but that's what happens in wars...who really wins. Families on both sides are left to mourn the dead....no winners....my opinion..
An RV Arrow and Saber. (4) Western Novel/Calvary/Indians/War/Cold WX
T.v. Has penned the 4th novel of the Arrow and Saber series our intrepid Major has been promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and transferred to a different area entirely. He hears about the battle of the Little Big Horn as soon as he arrives, but he must train his personnel to fight Indians the Indian way. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS
Exciting Early Frontier Military/Indian Adventure! Vaughan creatively draws readers into his realistic scenes of colorful characters as they struggle through extreme challenges of that error. His tales of the early frontier are always enjoyable and informative, well worth the read.

This is a fine example of history thundering to life. Excellent depiction of military life in the 1870's. Battle plans were made and carried out with precision. Readers of this series will get a better understanding of how the West was protected. Highly recommend.
Confession here - I got these books for my husband and he loved them. While I did not read them, he enjoyed the writing, the old western feel and having all four books in the series. Thanks for an exciting story-line.
I'm a new reader of Mr. Vaughans Brooks and his style kept me in suspense. I find I can relax comming home to read and escape the real world. Truly a talented writer!
Fourth book in the series each better than the former
A good few days of reading the Arrow and Saber series has a good solid hero in Marcus Cavanaugh who has advanced from Lieutenant to Lt. Col on this series. Highly Recommend
Final book about Cavanaugh, I think but hope not. Need to know what happens when his reports reach Washington. Grammar errors continue to plague this author.
