A cynical athlete. A twice-shy developer. A chance meeting in a romantic spot. Will they risk their wary hearts and try again for happily ever after?
Colin Brassard was living his dream, playing on the Olympic Hockey team and basking in fame until his college sweetheart dumped him. He decided to embrace the bachelor life for five years, until his past showed up during a much needed vacation. What were the odds he and his ex would be in the same country, at the same resort, at the same time? He knew it had to be fate giving them a second chance. All he has to do is convince Lucy of that.
Lucy Royston is perfectly content with her safe life in Silicon Valley. Sure, she doesn't have any crazy stories to tell her grandkids, but she's made good choices. The most important one, ending things with the heartbreaker, Colin Brassard. When her best friend asks her to attend her bachelorette party in Cancun, Lucy is hesitant but knows she can't disappoint the bride-to-be. Running into her ex was the last thing she expected, or wanted.
Can Colin convince Lucy their meeting was fate and to give him another chance or are the old wounds too deep to forget?
Brittney has been an avid reader since she can remember. Her parents' form of punishment for her growing up was taking away her books and making her go outside to play. She was born and raised in Southern California, with a brief hiatus in Arizona. She loves the beach, exercising, sleeping in, and cookies. She is an obsessive dog lover, although her affection currently has no outlet. Something that she is planning on remedying soon. She and her husband currently reside in the Rocky Mountains exploring and hiking as much as possible.
Lucy is worried about this bachelorette week. With her best friend, Amber along with, Amber’s cousin, Riley who is younger. Also, with them is, Amber's other college friend, Elena. Amber and, Riley are ready, to cut loose, and party. Elena, and, Lucy, not so much. So, Lucy tends, to be the voice of reason.
Once they arrive at the resort, they want to unwind. So, they tell, Amber and, Riley they are jet-lagged, and, need a nap. Instead, they head for the bar for, Shirley Temples. When, who do they see walk in? Half of the Fury Hockey team. Among them is none other than, Lucy's ex-Colin Brassard. She has not seen him, in five years. When he had broken her heart, for the last time.
Yeah, they met their freshman year, in college, and were each other's soul mates if, there ever were one. Or so she thought at, the time. She supported him in every way, concerning his, hockey career. She went, to games and studied, with him so both their grades, stayed on par. She wore his team's colors. And went, to all his practices, too. But, when he made it, to the Olympics it all started, to change. He started, to become distant while with her, and was gone more, overall.
Then, when he is at the Olympics word gets back that he is cheating on her. Pictures and videos speak louder than his silence. So, she acts as if. She won't be the reason his team loses anything while there. So, when he returns and calls to say he’ll be there after stopping by coaches she waits and festers. At four a.m. he gets to her place. Let's just say it's not the warmest of welcomes. She lets him have it, both barrels. About his cheating on her, and his lack of consideration by leaving her waiting. He said he could explain.
What may have counted x-amount of hours ago when he called no longer holds water. He is a liar and a cheater in her book. No one whose, to be trusted. But, five years have passed and he thinks she's more beautiful than ever. However, he is not someone she wants to see or talk to. His team doesn’t know, the full extent of what happened, back then. All they know is that she is the one that broke his heart. Not the other way around. He did tell them he did act like a jerk, which was wrong on his part. He took her for granted.
Now, between him, and, ‘the Pride’, they are working on getting, Lucy to give, Colin a second chance. She is holding a secret from all of them that is crowding her judgment but not her love for him. She has forgiven him long ago, but the thought of revealing her secret to reunite with him is too scary. A very good story filled with great info for the masses. I had thyroid cancer after giving birth two years prior. To our miracle baby. But, this is after twenty-plus years into our marriage. The funny thing is I didn't find out, I had Hashimoto's until the Ten years cancer free mark. So never count yourself out. LOL.
This is the first book I’ve read in this series. I read the little summaries and this one appealed to me most since I’m a sucker for second chance romances. This was really good! The author makes it easy to picture yourself on this trip and see what the characters are doing. I like that the two main characters were likable but not perfect. They both had minor personality flaws which made them relatable unlike some characters in romance novels. A breeze to read and I’ll likely dive into another book in the series soon.
Colin's lost love,Lucy, is back on his life, but their relationship is nothing like it was. Once again the team dynamics and the faithful Pride are what draw me into the story. It's good seeing the reason Colin had closed himself off. It's fun meeting Lucy, but it's hard to be patient as I waited for her to be completely honest with Colon. Thank goodness all ends well with the happy ending.
I can’t decide which one of the series I love the best. So I’ll just say I love them all. I can’t wait until March when Emma and Olli’s book comes. Thank you for writing such a fantastic group of books about the Fury Family.
This is a wonderful second chance love story, where the supporting characters, the Utah Fury Hockey team and their mates, play a significant role in the plot.
I love hockey romance, this author was new to me, but she didn't disappoint. I already love the characters she's starting to build the team family with, I can't wait to read more books in the series
This is definitely a refreshing take on second chance romance with characters that you will definitely root for as they chase after the one that got away.
What can I say about our team's moody confirmed bachelor??!! Well, this story finally answers the questions of why he's against relationships! I can't wait to see what's in store for Colin and Lucy!
I didn't like Lucy very much, don't know way. And Colin was so undecisive. They were a sweet couple but at the same time they weren't working for the relationship
This book was interesting. Story about a couple that had been together before and he cheated on her while at the olympics. This is another hockey romance book.
