What a great cookery book! I was so happy to get this for Christmas, I love it! Having tried many of the recipes I would definitely try any books by this author.
The recipes are simple, well explained and as the title suggests they are mainly quick to make. Beautiful and mouthwatering illustrations and a really good range of dishes, there is something for everyone. I think this is an ideal book for anyone, not just vegans, I would highly recommend this to people wanting to cut down on animal products, I think some of these dishes would really surprise some people who have preconceptions of vegan food.
The Faux Gras recipe was amazing and so easy to make, the presentation of it is beautiful, this would make lovely gifts, I will definitely be making this to give to people. We had it with some toasted sourdough bread and a glass of port, it made a delicious Christmas treat. This recipe and several others do say you need a food processor, I have managed to make most things with fine chopping and pushing through a sieve but have recently invested in a hand blender which made this really well. The Hoisin Speedy Mushrooms were delicious and we were all really impressed with their Twice Cooked Rosemary Chips with Garlic Mayo.
There’s a really good chapter on Christmas dinner suggestions, I will definitely be trying their nut roast recipe next year, there’s some enticing looking ways to jazz up the usual Christmas vegetables too.
I’m really impressed with the choices covered in here, this would be a great book for someone to who previously thought of vegan food being all chick peas and tofu, much as I love using those ingredients this book does a really good job of finding animal free ways of having all those favourites.
Some recipe books only have a handful of recipes I would like but I would happily work my way through every one of these. This is even better than the other Bosh book I have, highly recommended!
Looked this out for some Christmas dinner recipes and ended up rereading and planning lots more recipes to try. The ultimate nut roast recipe is great and can be made the day before. Some really good Christmas recipes in here. The only downside with these Bosh books is that they pack in so many recipes and not all have photos, would rather they save more for another book. Also I personally prefer cookery books to be one thing, for example, Christmas, cakes..... I have several Bosh books now and it makes looking for a recipe hard as they are all a mix of recipes, however they are wonderful books!
Bish Bash Bosh is the ideal book for anyone plant-based, either full time, part-time or sometimes, who wants to be a little more adventurous with their cooking. The book includes a range of recipe types, from simple quick meals that take next to no time to create, through to the more in-depth recipes that take longer to prep and make, but definitely look worth the effort!
I really liked that this book included a range of meat-free options, from recipes that featured the wonderful mushroom as its basis, to those with tofu (when done properly, tofu is one of my favourite vegetarian alternatives to include) and even some seitan recipes. It’s great to have a solid, easy to follow recipe to create seitan, the ideal meat replacement (it’s got LOADS of protein in).
Some of the recipes are definitely ones for evenings when you have a lot of time free, and feel in the mood for a longer cooking time, but I for one always feel disappointed if a recipe book is just made up of lots of ‘ready made’ elements that are combined; Bish Bash Bosh doesn’t rely on that; instead Henry and Ian show the reader how to create the individual elements required, such as curry pastes and sauces, which then act as a basis for each brilliant recipe.
There are plenty of recipes that are packed full of vegetables, which is handy for those trying to be a little healthier, and there are also lots of side dishes and salads too (I’m one of those people who never think of salads as proper recipes, but once I make them I’m reminded why they can be so tasty, especially when using unusual flavour combinations). I wasn’t so bothered about the Christmas section, and felt like that could have been cut down, but you can’t please everyone!
This is filled with delicious looking recipes, in an easy to read format (including stating the types of pans/food processor etc that you need for it, which is super useful) and filled with excellent vegetables. I’m excited to try these out!
This is the second Bosh! cookbook that they’ve released, and I enjoyed the recipes in the first book so much that I asked for the second one for my birthday. I’m lucky in that I have a super awesome girlfriend, and so she bought me a signed copy – although the cynic in me suspects that she just wanted me to cook for her. But that’s okay and I’m cool with that.
In case you didn’t get the memo, Bosh is a YouTube channel that specialises in making videos about vegan food. In this cookbook, they share all kinds of awesome recipes spanning a range of different cuisines, and I picked up everything from starters and desserts to bad ass mains, and in fact I ended by making roast stuffing balls, nut roast and quick onion gravy. It was delicious.
I tend to measure my recipe books based on how many of the recipes I take away with me and put into my overall master list of recipes. This book gave me a good 20+ recipes that I took away for good, and that compares to two or three from some other books that I could (but won’t) mention. And because my copy was a limited edition, it was also signed and included six bonus recipes, two of which in particular I was a fan of.
My only criticism would be that a lot of the recipes have already appeared on their YouTube channel. There were a few in here that I already had because of that, but I can live with that. Yum yum.

As a long time vegan there is rarely anything in cook books that make me go wow so I am coming from this from a different point of view to many.
There are some really good ideas in here which is refreshing but there is always a sense that the Bosh boys take something simple, overcomplicate it then present it back as 'easy' when it really isn't!
A particular highlight is their feasts section which is great from an ideas perspective but will not really work from an execution perspective in the way you want to unless you set up a project plan and revise what they suggest.
There are also some portion concerns - I love hearty portions but some of these recipes are for making 'big sandwiches'. If you followed them to the letter you would need treble the amount of pittas / ciabbatas. This suggests that these recipes haven't actually been tested which is disappointing.
There are also no guides to timing including preparation (a pet peeve of mine in many books). They also lose points for having burger / sausage recipes that refer to recipes in their first book (or go to the shop). That's just sly.
There are definitely some fresh takes here and the book looks nice but like the recipes themselves they look nicer on the page than in the kitchen. Execution turns this book into an okay book compared to a good one.
Fantastic book, so many great recipes, I think we use this book daily if not at least 5 times a week. Brilliant, both books by Bosh are great for vegetarians, vegans or if you are a Flexitarian. Well worth buying.
Are you looking for plant-based recipes that are guaranteed to be absolutely delicious? Looking to impress others or provide for those in your life that eat plant-based, or have food allergies? This is a must read!
Henry Firth and Ian Theasby, the two behind the popular video channel and previous Bosh cookbook, bring yet another cookbook packed full of enticing recipes. From tantalizing burgers to tempting sweets to epic feasts, there are recipes for everyone in this book. I'm not sure what I'm more excited to try: cinnamon swirl pancakes, the Ibiza sunset burger (complete with balsamic onions and a special Bosh burger sauce), or a classic Shepard's pie. Either way, I know I'll love it!
I highly recommend this cookbook along with the other's published by these two talented chefs: "Bosh! The Healthy Vegan Diet" and "Bosh!: The Cookbook: Simple Recipes, Amazing food, All Plants."
Probably one of the best vegan books on the planet, not just for vegans but for people who want to eat more plant Based food "eat food, not too much, mostly plants". I'd start with Bosh! How to Live Vegan but then this has become one of three go to cookbooks for me. What I like about it is there is so much well known dishes you can bosh-ify to create plant Based versions, many are really good. This includes fast food you can make at home but is obviously healthier than what you'd typically buy in a fast food joint. But there are so many healthy and nutritious dishes as well. The book is set out with bits on Italian food, Curries, Takeaway classics, South East Asian, etc, and also organised by Quick, Big, Sides and Sharers, Greens, Desserts and Breakfasts. Anyone who wants to explore plant Based or give plant Based a boost should start with Bosh!
I have to admit I was intrigued when I was given this book as a birthday present. I've heard the hype and as someone brought up vegan who'd lapsed to vegetarianism and am trying to claw my way back (but for cheese, oh cheese), it seemed perfect. It's a well-presented book aimed at a particular audience. And while I admire the intent and the photography and presentation suits the demographic it's aimed at, the content seems light. When compared to cookbooks which do the same thing, but don't overtly advertise themselves as 'plant-based' or 'vegan', it's coverage light. And yet, it's a good book with nice recipes and easy-to-follow instructions. There are so many others though that are really great...
This is a great recipe book with surprisingly easy recipes that show it is possible to make simple tasty meals, including those well used old favourites, without meat or dairy. I'm neither vegan or vegetarian but I am doing what I can to reduce my intake of animal products and this book is ideal for doing just that. For me one of the main plus points of this book is that it is written for everybody and even shows how to make some of the more common meat replacement options like seitan (should you want to give it a go), which is a definite bonus if you don't keep such things to hand.
Some really nice-looking illustrations of tasty food, but when your recipe for vegan sausage, mash and gravy runs to three pages and has 34 ingredients (ok, that does include seasonings and water), you lose the right to describe this as "quick, simple meals". I will, however, make something from it when I'm on holiday, rather than when I've just got home from work. (It's possible I'm just a lazy cook, though!)
I decided to make sushi cupcakes which were very unusual, requires patience however it was worth it, we will be making these sushi cupcakes again! P.S this is not a literal cupcake with sushi inside it! We are planning on making some other dishes every weekend. This is my first time reading a recipe book by Henry and Ian I am not a Vegan but the recipe book layout is inspiring and easily accessible.
Love this cook book. Every recipe has been a success. It's so nice to find a book with imaginative ideas. A lot of the recipes are now in 'The Book' (my exercise book of favourite recipes). Looking forward to the next book.
